Out of Bounds and Beneath Dreams
Part seven…

I. Several Pieces of the Puzzle
Hiei woke with a violent start. The events of his waking life were springing into sharp focus as his adventures in Dreams shrunk back into the shadows of his consciousness. But he needed those memories and fought desperately to hold onto them. There were cold hands gripping his shoulder’s trying to calm him. Cold hands… Ianto! He remembered the blond with his cool skin and warm smile; he remembered holding him in the night, holding him in his arms as they fled from monstrous dangers. He remembered his voice and the words he’d said to him, and most importantly he remembered a particular conversation when he told him of the three books and the Cult of the First Ones.

“Ianto,” Hiei gasped as he reached for those cold hands, only to flinch back when he saw and old woman’s face in front of his, “Varvara!”

“Yes, and who were you expecting?” The old lady frowned.

“And who’s Ianto?” A familiar voice chimed in.

“Yusuke?” Hiei spat, still disorientated from his awakening.

“And Kurama,” the selfsame man answered.

“Wha-what are you two doing here?” Hiei sputtered, “I told you to go to Spirit World.”

“As if we’re going to sit tight while you’re out here on the front lines,” Yusuke shot off.

“And it was a good thing they didn’t go to Spirit World-- yes, I’m here too,” it was Koenma, in his teen form. He was seated on the couch across the room next to a handsome young man with dark markings under his eyes and long pink hair pulled back in a braid, “Three more attacks took place just an hour ago, this time in Spirit World. Half of the records department is stone. I was lucky not to have been there when it happened. I was… out.”

“Out?” The man next to him snapped, “You ashamed of me or something?”
“I didn’t think this was a prudent time to announce our relationship,” Koenma muttered to him.

“Whoa, are you dating this guy or something,” Yusuke asked excitedly, “Hey who is he anyway?”

“You know me! I’m Koashura!” He howled at Yusuke.

“Nope, doesn’t ring a bell,” Yusuke scratched his head.

“I kidnapped Koenma and demanded his father’s golden seal,” Koashura said impatiently, “You rescued him from me.”

“I think I remember something that happening once,” Yusuke said vaguely.

Meanwhile in the adult’s conversation, Hiei asked Koenma, “Was there anything stolen, like ancient spells?”

“Why yes,” Koenma said startled, “The Sprit Drain Incantation. It’s designed to forcibly bleed the energy out of a strong beings.”

“Koenma!” The blue haired ferrywoman, Botan, burst into the room, “We’ve found your father. He’s alive and still soft, but he’s very weak, like he’s had the energy sucked right out of him.”

“What about my father?” Koashura demanded, “Our place was attacked, too.”

“Oh I didn‘t see you there,” She answered, “Yes, he was found and in the same condition. Spirit world is in an uproar. Nobody knows who‘s going to be next!”

Gasps and questions filled the room, until Hiei yelled, “Stop!” Everyone fell silent and Hiei continued, “One thing at a time.”

Varvara said gently, “Yes, you just came back from a long journey into Dreams to find the translation for that inscription. Why don’t you tell us about that?”

“The inscription said, ‘To achieve the proper perspective you must divide the circle by the sides within and then remove it from half the circle. What is left must be divided between the spaces between the pentacles.’ It was nonsense,” Hiei shook his head, “But there was something that we should have figured out on our own, the ancient Dreamland text is actually the language of the First Ones. Thus whoever cast that spell and left the watch behind uses the language of the First Ones.” He went on to explain the story of the three books and the sinister threat those spells could spell.

“The Cult of the First Ones, of course,” Koenma slapped himself.

“You know of them?” Hiei asked.

“I should say so. In fact, you met two former members,” Koenma told him, “You remember Karasu and Bui, right? They were members before they challenged the Toguro brothers and got their asses thoroughly owned. Anyway, nearly all of the members of that cult are powerful quest-class demons like them. Their leader is a very mysterious figure. All we know about him his that he is powerful and his name is Gareth. All this Aeon business is news to me. They haven’t made any plays for power, but they are imposing, so Spirit has been keeping an eye on them.”

“You know where they are then?” Hiei hoped.

“I’ll have to see what I can find in what‘s left of our records department.” Koenma muttered, “But don’t you concern yourself with it, Hiei.” Before Hiei could protest, “You’ve done more than enough already. Just take some time off and let the authorities hand it.”

Koenma left with Koashura and Botan trailing behind him. When he was gone Hiei growled low in his throat. After everything Koenma wanted him to back off? Like hell, Hiei thought. That overgrown toddler couldn’t order him around. And anyway, this was a personal matter and he wanted to see it through to the end. He wanted to, but… he didn’t know where to go next.

“Ya did real good,” Yusuke came over and sat on the bed next to him.

Hiei shrugged, “They probably could have figured out it was First One text without me going on some big, stupid dream adventure.”

“You uncovered several pieces of the puzzle,” Kurama joined them.

“Too bad none of them fit together,” Hiei groused. There was a bigger picture here, he knew it.

Kurama recognized the determined way Hiei’s brow creased, “You look tired. Why don’t you take Koenma’s advice and take some time off… it’d be nice for us to spend some time together.”

Hiei looked up startled as Kurama petted his cheek. It struck Hiei like a stake through his heart to see the pure adoration pouring form this beautiful creature’s eyes-- and it was for him. A sigh escaped Hiei as Kurama’s lips softly ghosted across his. It seemed like a lifetime since the last time he’d kissed his lover. Yusuke, not to be left out rubbed Hiei’s shoulders and leaned in to blow in his ear.

“Ahem,” the all but forgotten Varvara cleared her throat, “I think my work is done here, so I’ll just be-- what is that?” She was looking intently at the hand that was resting on Kurama’s shoulder.

“How the hell?” Hiei’s eyes bugged out as he lifted his wrist to find it encircled by a silver bangle inscribed with runes and flowers.

“That’s my bracelet,” she declared, “but… I threw it down…how? While you were in dreams, did you happen to meet a silly old man who lived in tower full of stuffy outdated furniture?”

“He’s recently redecorated,” Hiei said, glancing back at Yusuke. He took off the bracelet and tossed it the old woman, “You want it back, right?”

“Yes,” She said, wistfully slipping it onto her wrist. She looked over at the three young people entwined on the bed and smiled, “You’re very lucky, you know, to have never made the mistake of leaving someone you love behind. Oh what a fool I’ve been!” She cried and ran from the room, “I’m coming, my daring!”

II. As a Token
“Awe, ain’t old people love cute?” Yusuke said when the Oneiromancer was gone. And then they were alone, just the three of them. He said, “Now where were we?”

“I think you and this tasty fox were trying to seduce me,” Hiei smirked.

“Oh, yeah,” Yusuke purred and nibbled on Hiei’s ear.

“Ah! Yusuke, you know that drives me crazy,” Hiei wiggled in Yusuke’s unrelenting embrace.

In his struggles, he tripped his head back, leaving his throat exposed to the hungry mouth of the fox in front of him. Kurama licked and sucked along the sensitive sides of his neck and Hiei wiggled some more-- not because he wanted to escape, but because suddenly his pants felt two sizes too small. Ah, but luckily Kurama, every attuned to his needs, started to unfasten his pants.

“Oh my,” Kurama tittered when he’d freed Hiei’s erection. It was already hard and turning bright red from the amount of blood flowing into it, “At this rate, you’re not going to last long, love.”

“Then we’ll do it twice!” Hiei gasped with impatience, “Just don’t stop!”

“Hiei, I’ve never seen you so needy before,” Yusuke murmured.

“I guess I never realized just how much I love you,” Hiei whispered, “I think I might love you more now… at least twice as much.”

“H-Hiei,” Yusuke couldn’t believe the words coming out of Hiei’s mouth. He knew Hiei loved him, but the demon had never said it like that before. “Say it again!” Yusuke demanded as he reached under Hiei’s shirt and obtained a firm grip on his nipples.

“Ahh, I love you, Yusuke,” He moaned.

“Oh, what about me?” Kurama fake pouted.

“Ahmm, I love you too, you redheaded little minx,” Hiei husked.

Kurama grinned and rewarded Hiei by sinking down onto his hands and knees and giving Hiei’s cock a slow teasing lick.

“Damn, Kurama, you going to make me beg?” Hiei grunted.

“I could,” Kurama purred, wrapped hip lips around the tip of Hiei’s cock.

Hiei shuttered and said, “Wait.” He pulled Kurama up, kissed him on the lips.
Then he took the fox by the hand and kissed his knuckles one by one. And then to go one step farther he took Kurama’s fingers into his mouth and slowly laved them with his tongue. The action was enough to make the foxes blood boil, and if that wasn’t enough what Hiei said next nearly made him melt, “I want you inside me.”

Yusuke let Hiei go so he could turn around to give Kurama better access. Kurama removed Hiei’s pants while Yusuke ridded him of his shirt. He claimed the small demon’s lips while Kurama started to prepare him with the fingers that Hiei had so thoughtfully slicked-- but apparently not quick enough for Hiei’s tastes. The demon groaned and urged him to move faster. Kurama obliged, knowing full well that rushing the preparation process would leave Hiei open to pain when he entered him. But Hiei didn’t mind a little pain, he knew that too. So Kurama unfastened his own pants, letting his full member spring out.

Being just a little mischievous he rubbed it delicately against Hiei’s slick hole, felt it twitch in response to him. He purred, “You ready for me?” As if it wasn’t obvious.

“Do it,” Hiei whispered. His words muffled against Yusuke’s neck. The two had been heavily involved with a make out session, while Kurama was preparing Hiei. Without farther hesitation, Kurama grasped Hiei’s hips and pushed half of his length into him with a deep grunt.

“Ah!” Hiei let out a loud moan of pain and ecstasy for the sudden intrusion, “Oh Kurama uh--” Yusuke took his lips forcefully, swallowing his moans-- which only served to excite the demon more. Without warning, Hiei dropped from his hands to his elbows. His lighting quick hands darted out and snagged Yusuke around the waist, surprising the man and pulling his groin right up to his face. Hiei murmured, “Hmm, Yusuke, you look tasty,” before catching his zipper between his teeth and lowering his fly.

“Ah damn, Hiei, what in the world happened while you were in Dreams?” Yusuke panted, “You’re so friggen hot-- ooohh!”

Hiei took the man’s member into his mouth, subsequently shutting down his mental capacities. Good, he wasn’t in the mood to play Q&A’s, not while he had the tasty Yusuke in front of him and the sexy Kurama working him from behind. The only thing missing to make it a perfect sexual fantasy come true was a fist full of blond hairs and cute mouth wrapped around his dick.

“You‘re squeezing me so tight,” Kurama shuttered, “I… I’m going to come!”

Hiei moaned at those words and moved his hand form massaging Yusuke’s balls back to rub little circles around his anus. Then Yusuke was shuttering, too, and whining, “No no, that’s too much!”

“I’m… I’m… Ahhh,” The Kurama sunk deep into Hiei and came. The moment Hiei felt Kurama’s warm essence splash his insides, he pushed his finger up Yusuke’s ass causing the man to scream incoherently and erupt violently in to his mouth.

A few hours and several ejaculations later, Yusuke and Kurama had fallen into a light peaceful doze. Hiei, having just slept deeply was still very alert, so he contented himself with playing guard to his two sleeping lovers. He lay on his stomach, propped up on his elbows as he watched them. He reached out and touched Yusuke’s cheek and was pleased when the man reflexively nuzzled up to his hand, in fact it almost made Hiei feel as if he was going to melt.

“I really do love you,” he told the sleeping forms. A lump caught painfully in his throat, “I want to show you how much.”

A faint whimper woke Kurama from his light sleep. “Hiei?” He opened his eyes in time to see something small and shinny fall to the blankets. But his attention was instantly drawn up to Hiei, who was covering his face with both his hands. Concerned, Kurama moved to touch his shoulder and said, “Hiei, are you alright?”

The movement and the sound woke Yusuke. “What’s a matter?” He asked groggily.

“Nothing… I,” Hiei looked down half amazed into his own palms, “Will you accept these, as a token?” He held his palms out, one to Yusuke, one to Kurama. In each one there sparkled a freshly shed tear gem. The same kind of gem that his mother’s people could create-- until that moment, Hiei wasn’t even sure he could make one. He had never cried before, not in his entire existence, not for pain, not for sorrow… but for this. For Yusuke and Kurama, he could shed more than a few tears. It may not be necessary to say that Yusuke and Kurama accepted his tear gems. After which, brought on another round of lovemaking.

III. Protractor-- Or is it a Compass?
“You brooding again?” Yusuke muttered to Hiei, who had been sitting quietly for some time, staring out the window. Not that that was anything new for Hiei, but…. They were home, back in the Human World, now, in their apartment. It had been several weeks since the incident in Makai and things seemed like they’d gone back to normal. Yusuke worked five nights a week at his Raman stand. Kurama worked four days at his step-father‘s company. Hiei worked everyday in the apartment, having somehow fallen into the housewife role for no other reason than he was good at it. However more and more frequently he would become distracted from whatever self appointed chore he was doing and would slip deep into thought.

“Huh?” Hiei jerked at Yusuke’s voice, “No, I’m fine.” He hurriedly went back to what he was doing, that is folding a basket of socks.

“You sure about that?” Yusuke sat down beside him and proceeded to help him with the laundry.

Hiei made a growling noise that was not directed at anyone particular. Then he said, “I sort of expected to hear word from Koenma by now, about the Cult of the First Ones-- I don’t know why I‘m disappointed. I should be used to Spirit World ineptness by now.”

“Enki’s working on it too,” Yusuke shrugged. “Between the too of them ya should think they’d have shit covered.”

“You would,” Hiei hummed to himself, absently reaching into his pocket and toying with the object he kept there. They said he’d done enough by going into the Dreamlands and retrieving all that information, but still he felt like he was missing something.

“What ya got there?” Yusuke indicated Hiei’s hand. “Is that the watch you found in Mukuro’s fortress? Shouldn‘t you have given that to Koenma or something?”

“Hm? He didn’t say that he needed it,” Hiei told him. “I probably should through it away, it’s worthless. The latch won’t open and listen, it doesn’t tick; broken.”

“It weirds me out,” Yusuke frowned, “And that freaky inscription-- what was it again.”

“‘To achieve the proper perspective you must divide the circle by the sides within and then remove it from half the circle. What is left must be divided between the spaces between the pentacles,’” Hiei recited.

Yusuke nodded, “Ya know, no matter how I look at it, it sounds like a math problem.”

“A math problem?” Hiei hadn’t thought of that at all. Then again how often did he do math?

“Yeah, like geometry. I mean, they’re talking about circles and sides and division-- and perspective, that’s like an angle right?” Yusuke hummed and reached for a piece of paper and a pencil that were on the coffee table. He muttered while he wrote, “Angle equals… circle divided by sides… minus half circle. Ah ha!”

“What is it?” Hiei asked anxiously.

“n= 180- 360/s,” Yusuke grinned, “Damn it, it’s the formula for finding the interior angles for an equilateral convex polygon with more than four sides. I bet I know which polygon they were using too. Look.” He quickly drew a pentagon, putting bold dotes at each of the corners. Then he drew lines from one dote to through the shape to connect the adjacent dotes forming three triangles within the main shape “See, now if ya want to know what angle between these lines are you divide the big angle by the number of little triangles you got, or--”

“‘Divide between the spaces between the pentacles,’” Hiei blinked, “It is geometry. Of course, it makes sense. Whenever witches cast spells they do so with in their pentagram circle. And I would image the sons of bitches would want as perfect of a circle as they could manage.”

“Weird thing to write on a watch though,” Yusuke said off handedly, “Seems more like a thing to put on a protractor-- or is it a compass? I always get those things confused.”

“What was that?” Hiei jumped at Yusuke’s words.

“I said I get those things confused.”

“No, compass!” Hiei shot. He looked at the thing and then dashed for the kitchen. By the time Yusuke caught up with him, Hiei had dug out an oyster knife and was trying to pry the front off of the thing that he thought was a watch.

“I don’t know why I didn’t think to look inside it before,” he grunted as he worked, “I may be wrong, but it’s wroth a-- ah-ha!” He popped the front open to find that it really wasn’t a watch after all. It was compass, but not like one he’d ever seen before. Instead one arrow, there were four; a black one, a red one, a green one, and a purple one. And instead of the usual NESW set at twelve o’clock, three, six, and nine. there little inset jewels; a black one, a red one, a green one, and a purple one -- no doubt to correspond with the colored arrows-- set roughly at the ten, eleven, one and two. There was also a lonely blue jewel set atop of the arrows in the middle. None of the arrows were pointing at there corresponding jewels, but all listed toward the same area in the uperr part of the face.

“How are you supposed to read that thing?” Yusuke spoke beside him.

“I once heard about this two parted enchantment, where you can put the positive half on one thing and then cast the negative half on a compass, so the compass always points to that thing,” Hiei told him, “It was an old spell from the First One’s Book of Tricks and Charms. I think our cultists have made creative use of it to avoid doing a lot of lengthy mathematics.”

“Oh, I get it,” Yusuke chimed in, “The guy who had this one was blue and his spell casting buddies were the other colors, and whenever they go to do their mumbo jumbo, they use these things to see if they’re all in the right place. Wait, but we got this one….”

“It’ll point us right to Mr. Black, Red, Green, and Purple, and whole crayon box,” Hiei smirked.

“It’s unbelievable,” Yusuke muttered.

“No, what’s unbelievable is that you were the one to figure it out,” Hiei countered, “Of all people…”

“Hey, I did real good on the geometry section on my GED exam,” Yusuke protested.

Hiei laughed, “Six months ago, and you still remember all that stuff? Hmm, I guess it’s no surprise, Kurama did tutor you well. And considering the fact that he gave you a blowjob every time you raised your practice test score, you did have plenty of incentive to remember the stuff.”

“You helped too, remember?” Yusuke grinned, “That special surprise you got me for passing, remember… the uniform?”

Hiei chuckled remembering that, Yusuke nearly came just looking at him from across the room. “It’s still in the closet and… you know what? You’ve been very clever today. I think you deserve a reward.”

Later that afternoon, Kurama came home from work to find Yusuke sacked out on the couch, wearing nothing but the tear gem, that Hiei gave him, around his neck and a pair of panties on his head. and Hiei was face down on the coffee table in a girls sailor outfit, clutching a rubber banana in one hand. He must have missed on hell of an afternoon. Kurama made mental note to install a nanny cam.

IV. We’re Going
“You really plan on going,” Kurama said. It was not a question. Hiei told them that he intended to use the compass devise to track down the Cult of the First Ones. And when Hiei said he was going to do something, he was going to do it.

“I know this means a lot to you,” Yusuke said, “I get it, I mean we were friends with Mukuro, Yomi, and everyone too. We know how you feel, but…. Is there any why reason you can’t report this to King Enki or Spirit World? At the very least it couldn‘t hurt to have an army to back you up.”

“Hiei feels that an army would only slow him down,” Kurama answered for Hiei.

Hiei gave Kurama a pinched look, “Yes, they would. And I’m sure our cultist would be able to see an army coming and would probably have a nasty way of dealing with them. Stealth is the smartest mode of approach.”

“You don’t know a thing about fighting this enemy,” Kurama pointed out, “You haven’t any idea what they’re capable of.”

“What else is new?” Hiei said sarcastically.

“It’ll be dangerous,” said Kurama.

“I know. That’s why I’m not asking you to go with me,” Hiei turned and walked to the door. He stopped and glanced over his shoulder at the worried faces of his lovers. “But I will invite you, if you want.”

“Shit yeah!” Yusuke jumped up off the couch, “Hell, I’d follow you even if you said not to.”

Kurama raised his hands in a nonchalant gesture, “I suppose, I’ll have to go with you. I know the sort of trouble the two of you get into left to your own devises.”

“Then get your shit together,” Hiei smiled, “We’re going.”

TBC…
A/N: Sorry, been a while, but I paused this story to write a special valentines story, which I apparently can’t post, sorry. I’ve always uploaded in txt, but that option is not available for new stories anymore and every time I try it the new way I get this box that tells me that my computer will freeze if I don’t end the program and it does whither I chick yes or no. Yes, I tried the tech support in the forums, but that page freezes too(none of the others, just that one. Weird right?) I’ll keep posting on this one… if I can. Hopefully, I’ll see ya next time.
