Chapter 7
Oh I am so not having a good day. I just showed my parents my grades for summer quarter and let’s just say that they’re less than pleased. Whatever possessed me to sign up for summer classes anyway? And I was trying to transfer to a much better school and my parents are now refusing to pay for it and so now I’m stuck in the shithole I’m already in. and I still haven’t been in any kind of a writing mood. Though I did get a laptop from my brother. Which is what I am currently typing this on but I’m sure you guys really wanted to know all that. Maybe I should just get on the ridiculously short chapter already.
Chapter 7
Hiei hesitantly walked over to the phone. After five rings he finally picked it up.
“Hello?” he snarled
“Jeez Hiei, that’s quite a greeting you’ve got there.”
“Toshio.”
“You got the dagger yet?”
“Yes.”
“Good. Wonderful. Now I can give you your next set of instructions.”
“I want to talk to Kuwabara.”
“Bring the dagger to Aloman Cave. You know to get there?”
“Yes.”
“Wonderful. Meet me there tomorrow nigh around 10:15. We’ll trade the dagger for the human.”
“I want to talk to him. I want to know you haven’t already killed him.”
“Oh ye of so little faith. As if I would’ve killed him. He’s too much fun.”
Hiei gripped the phone tighter and snarled.
“But…I guess you’ve earned a short talk.”
Toshio turned around and knelt down. Kuwabara was lying on the ground, arms tied behind his back, legs tied at the ankles and knees. He lay on his side slightly curled up. His breathing was ragged, his fever had gotten worse. He wore no shit and what remained of his pants were blood stained. His body was covered in bruises and bloody gashes, dried blood clung to his hair and he was absolutely filthy.
His head was swimming and his ears were roaring. He was aware that Toshio was talking to Hiei but he couldn’t make out what was being said.
Toshio flicked his ear to get his attention and put the phone to his ear.
“H…Hiei?” His voice was low and dry. He sounded as if he hadn’t had anything ot drink for a few days.
Hiei managed faint smile at the sound of his mate’s weak voice. “Hey Kazuma. How are you holding up?”
Kuwabara coughed weakly. “I’m fine. I’ll be fine…” His voice was so low and quiet Hiei had to strain to hear the usual loudmouth.
Hiei sighed. “No you’re not. Don’t lie to me Kazuma. I know you’re not all right.” The demon swallowed hard. “But you will be soon. I’m going to get you back tomorrow. Tomorrow you can come home and then you’ll be all right.”
There was a moment of silence on the other end.
“Hiei?”
“What?”
“You…You didn’t get the dagger did you?”
“Of course I did you oaf!”
“Oh.”
Another moment of silence. Then, “Are you okay?”
Hiei growled at him. “Don’t you start that!” Yusuke and Kurama looked up at the suddenly shouting demon in surprise. “You’re the one whose been kidnapped and raped and god knows what else. I saw the blood in our bedroom and I know what those people can do. So don’t you dare start worrying about me, asking if I’m all right! You better just worry about yourself dammit!”
Kuwabara lay silently with the phone held up to his ear, listening the Hiei’s pants of breath after shouting at him. After a few moments he whispered, “I’m sorry.”
“And don’t be sorry either.” Hiei moaned in grief. “Just…just hang on for one more day. Just one more day and I’ll come get you. And everything will be fine again. I promise okay?”
“Kay. Love you.”
Hiei paused a moment befoe replying. “Yeah. I…love you too.”
Okay. Now I tried to keep Hiei in character as much as possible, but after all the guy he loves has been kidnapped and shit and I don’t know about you but anybody else would be freakin out. So I think that for Hiei, this was all right. I had to keep reminding myself as I wrote that ‘this is Hiei now, so he probably wouldn’t say this, or do that,’ and still try to make the image of ‘oh crap, Hiei is in some deep shit here, this is bad.’ Oh well. If you guys can think of a better way I could’ve kept him in character please let me know. Also, has anyone seen the series ‘FAKE’? I saw a preview of it the other day and it looks good but I’m not ready to spend my money on it just yet. If it’s any good let me know.
Oh and KuwaLove, thanks so much for being patient with my updates. Thank you everybody whose been so patient and who have taken the time to leave a review just to tell me to get up off my lazy ass and update. Thanks Alls!
