Man I had to take longer before I could continue writing this chapter. I knew that if I just wrote it, I wouldn't be satisfied. But seeing reviews kept me alive guys, you are all too kind. Plus, I was having author's conflicts haha, I just did NOT NOT,NOT want to make Kurama all overly emotional, and that's where I felt I was headed.

Unwanted Feelings - Chpt 7 - In

Hiei kept his breathing steady as Kurama enclosed his arms around him. No... not this. There was a colossal pressure on both of them. He knew what Kurama wished for but he knew he couldn't give the fox what he wanted. Kurama would start tearing, letting the salty droplets fall from his eyes. Those same droplets would trace their way down the contours of his shoulder and descend to the bedsheets. Kurama wasn't the only one feeling heartbreak. Hiei felt so selfish right now, a different kind of ache. He knew that Kurama loved him, and he did nothing to better their circumstance. He indulged himself in that dish known as Kurama and would remain motionless when the fox was in anguish. Things had changed. There were times where he could pretend not to care but listen. Now, he cared more than he admitted.

He listened to the screaming silence that accompanied Kurama's soft sobs. It was something only he could hear. They both felt selfish, and kept everything to themselves. Hiei knew the routine well. Kurama would eventually sleep, his inhaling becoming easier and easier.

The silence in the room kept screaming at him.

It was bold. It was a bold move, but he turned around to face his fox. He was surprised to find Kurama had already closed his eyes. His eyelashes fanned out beautifully, seemingly leaving behind an artistic shadow on his fair cheek. Though the lashes were pasted together from tears, this could not impair his beauty. Hiei couldn't take his eyes off the site before him. The creature in front of him was a selfless one at heart. People may think that because he was the legendary thief, greed consumed his heart. But Hiei could see past through the cover, Kurama loved companionship and excitement. He had once told Hiei that Kuronue was one of the longest partners he had, a sad tone in evident his voice.

They were affectionate. They were affectionate towards each other. Because of that, they could find comfort, not afraid to ask for it. Hiei had sensed his partner's sadness upon the confession and embraced him. It was a silent expression, something that their relationship was filled with. There was always that understanding. Now looking at his lover beside him, Hiei realized many of their understandings had gone ignored for an appreciable amount of time. He was just as responsible for this predicament. He could feel Kurama's breath as he exhale slowly. It was a summer breeze that ran over the terrain of Hiei's chest. It was then that Hiei leaned in for a kiss, a venomous kiss that held nothing but pain.

Kurama's eyelids let go of each other and now bore emerald pupils that look straight into Hiei's. Lips dislodged and silence once again feel between them.

"It meant nothing."

"I never expected it to."

"Hn. Liar."

"You lie."

"But I'm true to my emotions."

Kurama stared past Hiei's face to the window in back of the younger demon. He wasn't sure if he wanted Hiei to leave through that passage or whether to shut it. If he was to shut it, he felt he could tell Hiei everything without holding back, because then Hiei couldn't run.

"You could have told me."

It took a while for Kurama to find the 'correct' response. "Told you?"

"Kurama."

He loved hearing his name roll off of Hiei's tongue.

"Kurama..."

Hiei knew that.

"Kurama!"

He blinked, heart racing, the only thing he knew was anxiety and insecurity.

"Say something. Tell me."

"I'm not sure you want to hear it."

"You shouldn't care what I think..."

"... because you'll accept me."

Hiei was always amazed at how Kurama finished his sentences, but then again he wasn't. He waited for the fox to respond. He knew, for god's sake HE KNEW. But he wanted to hear Kurama say it. He wanted it to be official and not to have be left in this situation.

"I don't know."

"Liar." He turned to lie on his back, staring at the ceiling. This was getting tedious.

Something that was treated as nothing more than a mere dot swelled up in Kurama. In a speed that almost matched Hiei's, he turned to be on top of Hiei. His face was dangerously close to Hiei's, green eyes staring intently into those red pools.

"You really want to know Hiei? You want to know."

Hiei said nothing but kept staring into those green orbs in front of him.

"I love you."

Not wanting to hear a response, Kurama quickly met Hiei's lips with his own. Don't leave. Before you leave...

"I know it means nothing to you."

"It's not nothing."

"But it's not everything..."

Hiei broke eye contact with the fox. It wasn't like he could say anything, what Kurama said was true. This, this wasn't everything to him. He never dreamt it would be. Eyes closed at a response he did not want to give.

"No, it's not..."

"Heartless."

Hiei's eyes snapped wide open at this, and within a second, had his cloak and pants on. "I thought you of all people would know me better."

Kurama watched helplessly as his dark angel left through the window. Overly emotional, that's what love did to him, and he hated it. He would give almost anything to change things, even if were the way he felt. One thing that he remembered, he never did shut the window.
