I Am Beaten!

Warning: There’s stuff in here some people won’t like or agree with. If that’s the case—don’t torture yourself by reading it. Waste of your own valuable time. Not a waste of my time, I just write it because it’s in my head to begin with. Glee.

Disclaimer: S’not my fault.

To Anon—Thanks for the input. To explain: Hiei was already black and blue all over--you might remember the recent tangle with the demon. That, and the only bruise that would be visible would be the final punch to the eye, which wouldn’t start to show until at least a few hours later. Hiei would have been a little obviously out of it, but Kurama was in a bad mood when he left. (Girls do weird things to guys, y’know.) Also, I already had plans for the black eye in this next chapter. Patience! ^_^ Hiei’s wary because he’s never had the problem of being in a far weaker human body, much less that of a female. He doesn’t even have his katana. He would be, in fact, quite vulnerable to attack and abuse in his current form. And it’s rattling his nerves, making him step more cautiously. He knows he’s weakened by this sentence. Perhaps I will go back and tweak the story to get these points across a little better. Any other concerns?

“Isn’t it time to get up?” Kurama questioned quietly, walking out of his room and finding Hiei still laying on the couch. It was 1pm. He knew Hiei had been awake for a long time, lying on her stomach, staring at the TV, which was off. She looked up at him, then rolled over to stare at the couch. Kurama frowned, noticing something different.

“Was your eye that black yesterday?” he asked slowly, frowning at the swollen eye. He had always envied Hiei those beautiful almond shaped ruby eyes. Hiei just nodded slightly, staring at the couch despondently. Kurama frowned.

“Hiei, I’m sorry I was snappish yesterday. It’s just, Trish is really intimidated by you being here. Maybe we could all go to a movie or something to get to know eachother better. Doesn’t that sound fun?” He smiled hopefully, trying to pull a smile to her lips. She didn’t respond, simply staring at the couch. He grabbed her arms, pulling her up.

“Come on, you! We need to get you in the shower and cleaned up for the theater. It’ll be fun!” he exclaimed, pulling her into the bathroom. As he pushed her in and closed the door, his eyes caught something that disturbed him. It looked like dried blood in her matted hair. He knew that had not been there the morning before.

“Ow!” Hiei exclaimed as Kurama tried, once again, to run the brush through her hair. She twisted away from his hands, glaring mistrustingly at the brush ensnared in the mess she called her hair. Kurama gripped her shoulder firmly, pulling her back within range.

“If you would stay still, this would be a LOT easier!” he exclaimed, eyeinr har hair. Koenma could have left it a little shorter. This mess was absurd. He held Hiei still as he worked at it some more. He paused when the doorbell rang, sighing as Hiei twisted away from him. Just like a little kid getting her hair brushed, he swore!

Trish came in the door, dressed in allck ack and red vinyl. He blinked, shaking his head at the newest absurdities. He handed her the brush.

“Finish brushing her hair,” he requested, disappearing into the back to finish getting ready. Trish grinned and advanced on Hiei, snatching her by the shoulder and smacking her upside the head with the brush.

“Hmm, I wonder how you use this thing?” she mused aloud, amusing herself greatly with her sly ideas. She blinked when the shorter woman kneed her in the crotch. Girl or guy, that shit hurts regardless. Her eyes went wide as she doubled over momentarily. Hiei stood still, her hand over her mouth, glancing at the hallway nervously. Kurama has said to be nice to his woman, and she’d taken her off guard with that blow. She was fairly certain that was not on the list of things that were nice to do. Of course, she realized, that was the only way she’d been able to get a blow in as the woman now flew at her in a rage.

“You bitch!” she hissed, tackling her to the ground and proceeding to pound her with her fists. Hiei wriggled to get free, but the blonde apparently had some fairly strong legs, and had her hands pinned to her sides with them. She closed her eyes as she lost all ability to focus on her assailant. Being a human was insane. Humanre are all just crazy. What had she done to warrant this attack? Tears of pain began to pool in her eyes as the beating continued. She couldn’t retaliate. She was simply outmatched. And Kurama was on the blonde’s side.

“You think you’re so cute, you little bitch. You think you can just walk in and take him. I can see through you! Shuiichi is mine! Shuiichi belongs to—“ she squeaked as she suddenly was lifted off of the still Hiei by the scruff of her neck. A growling Shuiichi stood, his long red hair practically bristling as his anger radiated forth.

“Shuiichi belongs to no one. Especially not to you, you fucking psycho bitch!” He marched her to the door and threw her to the ground outside.

“Do not come back,” he stated, slamming the door. He whirled to face Hiei and found her curled up, twitching softly. He knelt beside her and was amazed at what was before him. Hiei crying, and no crystalline tear gems were produced. Her face was simply wet. More importantly though, it was Hiei crying. It was an almost impossible concept. Hiei was too strong for all of this. And she’d been enduring it silently because he’d snapped at her when she’d tried to tell him what was happening. He scooped her up in his arms.

“Hiei, I’m sorry! I’m so sorry… this wasn’t supposed to happen to you… had I realized…I’m sorry I didn’t listen. Hiei, please don’t cry! I don’t know what to do when you cry!” He rocked her in his arms, at a loss, wishing he knew what to do to still the sobs that wracked her body.

“This wasn’t supposed to happen. This isn’t supposed to be possible. I’ll protect you. While you’re stuck here, I promise I’ll protect you,” he said finally, holding her close. He rocked her until she quieted and drifted off to sleep in his arms. He stared down at her.

This was not the same Hiei he’d known for so many years.
