Scene 62 ------------------------------------------- Yusuke's Bedroom

* Yusuke finds Kurama on their big bed hugging one of the pillows. He keeps his eyes averted to avoid Yusuke's, but an ear turns timidly toward him. After a couple moments of uneasy silence Yusuke speaks.


Yusuke- You know I still love you.. I'm just very upset at you right now.


* Kurama nods guiltily.


Yusuke- Hiei asked me not to stay mad at you.. You know by now that I won't.. can't..


* Kurama nods again and glances over his shoulder toward Yusuke.


Kurama- (Quietly) I'm sorry.. I can feel what this situation is doing to you inside..

Yusuke- Well, it won't anymore.. Hiei's pretty adamant on this.


* Yusuke moves to sit on the edge of the bed.


Yusuke- If I.. take the baby.. he'll never forgive me.. So that's that.


* Kurama looks at Yusuke again.


Kurama- (Quietly) He'll die giving birth..

Yusuke- I know that, d--- it!


* Yusuke raises a hand to rub his forehead. Slowly, Kurama looks away again.


Kurama- Then.. if Yomi can't get through to Mukuro.. I'll be raising four..


* Yusuke half glances at Kurama, then stands and moves to the door. He leans against the frame a moment.


Yusuke- Yes, Babe.. Hiei knows that you'll raise them well.


* Kurama stiffens a moment, then looks toward Yusuke again as he sits up. Immediately, the twins and Chiisai enter kitsune's thoughts.


Kurama- Oh.. Yeah.. D---.. I'm going to be a mother forever..


* Yusuke looks back to watch Kurama flop backward on the bed again.


Yusuke- (Quietly) Nothing's written in stone, 'Rama.


* Kurama raises his head to look toward Yusuke as he turns and leaves the room to answer his beeping communication station. When Yusuke sees the caller ID on the monitor he sits down in the big chair. As soon as he opens the line Koenma's toddler face comes into view. Yusuke takes note that Koenma is wearing a bib. Despite the tense situation he'd just came through, Yusuke nearly chokes trying not to laugh outloud.


Yusuke- K-Ko.. enma,..?


* The Toddler raises a small hand in greeting.


Koenma- Yo.. I thought I'd give you the report on that demon you and Yomi dispersed..


* Yusuke now scowls.


Yusuke- Well, h--- yeah! I was just about ready to come up there..

Koenma- No need to get irrational..

Yusuke- So was he the one in charge?

Koenma- Yes.. It seems he was a trifle upset about a recent decision you made concerning.. water rights..


* Yusuke scrunches his brow.


Yusuke- Water rights?

Koenma- Turns out he was a..


* Koenma looks off to the side a moment when they hear the sound of something starting to sizzle off camera.


Koenma- Beaver demon..

Yusuke- Beaver..?

Koenma- Make sure the tail is well done, George! You know how tough they are!!


* Yusuke stares at the screen rather annoyed as George grovels off camera. Koenma looks back at Yusuke.


Yusuke- What the h--- are you doing?

Koenma- It's my dinner break.. You did ask me to grill that demon, right?


* Yusuke nearly falls out of the chair.


Koenma- Well, it took a lot of time and persuasion to get him to co-operate.. Do you have any idea how stubborn Beaver demons can be? So now, I'm hungry..


* Yusuke scowls again when a pair of blue arms reach over to set a dish with a very large Lobster on it down in front of Koenma.


Koenma- Okay, it's ready.. I just wanted to let you know that you can relax about that threat.. This beaver's dam was the only one affected by your decision.. I've looked into the situation personally.. All the rest of the beaver clans are perfectly happy with your decision. They assured me, also, that this demon was working alone.. Well, I'm going to go and eat this while it's hot.. Tell the boys I said hello.. Keep me posted on your situation with Hiei.. Bye bye.


* Before Yusuke can say anything else the screen goes black leaving the Toushin with a small plume of smoke raising up from his shaggy head. After a moment, Yusuke stands with a growled curse.


Yusuke- D--- it! I need to go blow something up!!


* Yusuke storms out of his personal quarters yelling for Hokushin as he storms toward the marble staircase.
