Chapter 6

Chapter 6

A/N: I would like to let all of you know that I nearly puked looking up different methods of torture to make this story accurate. I have a really weak stomach – which I will have to get over because I intend to be a cop. You wouldn’t believe some to the stuff on Wikipedia. I seriously thought I was going to puke looking this stuff up.

Tesgura – She is very unstable. And Minerva isn’t really new; she was in the books. Well, just one book. But I loved her so much! Lol. As for the fairies getting by Kurama and Hiei, even demons can’t see a fairy when they are shielding. In the books, people might be able to see a slight shimmer in the air if they are concentrating, but Eoin Cofler fixed this problem with new suits while Foaly was working in Section 8. As for how they overpowered, them Neutrino 2000’s are strong enough to take down a troll, so I think a Neutrino 3000’s would be even worse.

Leiko Urameshi – So, I have the first five books on my computer. I’ve put them on megaupload for you. Just go to these links and you will find them. You have to download them though. And you have to wait 45 seconds to download if you don’t have an account.

Also, I wanted to go more on what Artemis deals with, more than the planning of getting him back. Mostly because I am not as smart as Minerva so anything I would write would completely suck. Yeah. But, I will write some of the Minerva scenes just because both Kurama and Hiei hate her. ^_^

OOOOOO

Artemis’ eyes drifted closed when suddenly he was slapped hard across the face, bringing him to alert in an instant. Sleep deprivation. It was the oldest form of torture. A human can only go so long without rest. He could already feel the beginning symptoms. He felt nauseous and dizzy; his left hand was starting to tremble uncontrollable; soon, he would start to hallucinate, if he was lucky that would be as far as it went.

“Are you hungry?” Asked the pixie who was now sitting back at the table. He was eating an array of shellfish.

Artemis licked his lips. He knew that the pixie was goading him, but he was starving. After all the alcohol he drank, and not eating for what he guessed was over a full day, his stomach protested loudly every couple of minutes at not being fed. “And I suppose you would offer me some of your food then?” He asked before scuffing, “I doubt it.”

The pixie held out a lobster tail, “Maybe if you say ‘pretty please’.”

His eyes widened and he turned away, ashamed. “I will not resort to begging. No; I will be out of here soon enough. I can wait.” Though his words were meant to sound strong, they seemed pathetic to his own ears.

“Hey, Juliet didn’t say we can’t feed you. I was just trying to do you a favor. You know, you don’t need to be like Richard of York and give the battle in vain.”

Artemis’ eyes snapped towards the fairy, but the being was not looking at him. Rather, he was still eating casually. The young Fowl turned his head away slowly, his breath coming ragged. That phrase. It was a mnemonic for the colors of the rainbow. Artemis had used it once as part of a code to detonate a bomb. It was now a code too, he surmised. A code meaning ‘friend’. Though, there was no way to tell, he supposed, considering he could be hallucinating. “Please, can I have some food,” Artemis asked, looking to the ground.

The pixie smirked and, without looking at him, threw him a lobster tail, “Catch.”

After slowly eating them as to not upset his insomnia, he turned back to his maybe ally. “So, it appears you know everything about me, yet I know nothing about you.”

The pixie crunched on the meat from a crab leg for a second, seeming to be think over the humans words. “What could it hurt,” He said with a shrug. “Doodah Day is my name. Smuggler.”

The name was familiar, but he couldn’t place it. Lack of sleep, food, and water were all getting to him. Artemis nodded. “Well, Mr. Day, I’m sure you have a reason for helping out the psycho elf?”

“Sure do,” He said with a full mouth. “Gold. Lots of it.”

Artemis snorted. Though, he understood the reasoning. He himself had kidnapped the fairy Holly Short when he was twelve for a bit of fairy gold; the lure was irresistible. “So, you would kill an LEP Commander and a human alley to the People just for gold? The LEP will hunt you down. They will find you.”

Doodah Day rolled his eyes. “They already have a bounty on my head. Besides; they’ll never know I was here.”

Artemis snorted. “See all that slobber and finger prints you are leaving behind. Even a police for from above ground will know you were here.”

The pixie didn’t even look at him, nor did he look scared. “Juliet has it all figured out. I suppose you are trying to get me to reveal her plan to you.” This time, the fairy looked at him, a smug look on his face. “Not going to happen, mud boy.”

The door to the room opened suddenly and the elf in question appeared. “It’s time to meet Holly.” She said with a smirk and a glint in her eyes. “Grab the mud boy. And put a shirt on him.”

OOO Tokyo Japan, 12 hours earlier OOO

Minerva glanced around the room and smiled gently to everyone there. “It is nice to meet all of you.” Her Japanese was like Artemis’; flawless. “It is a shame; however, that we have to meet under such sad circumstances.”

“So, you’re supposed to be smart, right? Like Artemis?” Yusuke asked with a snort. “You look just like any other teenage girl.”

She turned sharp eyes to the man. “I have complete high school and already earned both a degree in quantum physics and psychology and a doctorate in chemistry. Artemis and I are once in the same; two halves of a whole.”

Kurama cleared his throat. “While this is all very interesting, we need to be focused. My name is Kurama; this is Hiei, and Yusuke.” He introduced for them. “Now, Commander Short, what has the kidnapper told you?”

Holly, who was hovering with her new model of wings beside Butler, spoke in an even, angry voice. “Not much. Just that she has no interest in Artemis and that she wants me instead. I did not recognize her voice or her speech patterns. The LEP will not be happy if I am kidnapped for a second time, though. They have not authorized me to give myself up for the sake of Artemis.”

Minerva nodded her head. “Yes, I would think not. It would be too dangerous. Without knowing to identity of the kidnapper, it would be hard to determine a motive so it would not be wise.”

“Julius Root.” Hiei spoke, turning to Holly. “She said she was Julius Root’s sister and that this was about revenge. She knocked us out after that.”

The elf gasped and sank to the floor. She hadn’t thought about her mentor in over a year. He had been killed over seven years ago and Holly had to watch it happen; she had been powerless to stop it. Opal Koboi had strapped a bomb to his chest and forced Holly to watch. It had devastated the young elf and she had been blamed for the former Commander’s death. “But why would she want to hurt Artemis or me? Julius meant so much to me – to us.”

“She obviously blames the two of you for his death.” Minerva sighed. “This is troublesome. There is no way she will actually release Artemis. She will use him as bait then at the last second, snatch you, keep him, and disappear.” The blonde turned around with closed eyes.

“I am sure we can think of something, Paradizo-san.” Kurama spoke, taking a step towards her; Holly stopped him.

“Artemis does this. She is thinking.” The elf stopped hover and landed gently. “Those two really are the same.” She spoke sadly. She herself had harbored feelings for Artemis – she even kissed him once – something she did in the heat of the moment after thinking he was about to die – but she knew the two could never be together. Someone like Minerva was better suited for him.

“Artemis told me once about a ‘C Cube’ he developed. He said that Foaly confiscated it. Is there any way we could get a hold of it?” Minerva asked as she turned around, her eyes shining as a plot filled her brain.

Holly nodded. “It can be here in a couple of hours with the right clearance. But I happen to know the commander personally, so that won’t be a problem.” Of course, Holly was the commander.

“Alright. And send Mulch to bring it up. I have a plan.” Anyone who knew Minerva or Artemis would be able to tell that the look in her eyes was not a kind look; it was a look that promised that she would win. She was, after all, a child genius and child geniuses were often underestimated.

OOO Guangzhou, China OOO

Artemis shivered against the cold. His vision was blurred and the high altitude didn’t help his insomnia aching lungs. He was light headed and couldn’t form a single thought other then how to keep himself alive. Tremors racked through his body violently and he could barely make out the forms of people who came to stand before him, on the other side of the building. He knew where they were at least; atop the Guangzhou TV and Sightseeing Tower in China. He had seen it in news articles and such many times. It was 610 meters, which would be little of 2000 feet tall. The higher altitude meant breath would be harder, though not deadly, as the air thinned out.

“Send over Fowl, Root!” Holly called out, her voice almost lost in the wind. “Then I’ll come over.”

Kurama stood by her, a lump in his throat as he looked at his friend. The genius looked weak; he could barely even keep his eyes open or his head up. He opened that his plan would work, for everyone’s sake.

“Take off the LEP suit and hand it to your friend.” Juliet called out, a smirk on her face. “Wouldn’t want Foaly following us!”

With a blush on her face, Holly began to strip off her LEP regulation suit, which was of course against regulations. It was only a ploy to get her to lose her focus, she knew. But they had already planned for this, the fact that she would go in without any type of gear. After she was down to nothing but her bra and underwear, she yelled again, “Alright, release the mud boy.”

Juliet nodded to one of her pixies – Doodah Day – and he pushed Artemis by the shoulder, walking him to the middle. Holly mimicked them, walking towards them slowly, glancing around her casually. Everything was just like Minerva said it would be; she really was just like Artemis.

Once they were both in the middle, Day grabbed Holly and pullout of a rope, tying her wrist together.

“I trust you called Minerva.” Artemis said with a shallow, panting voice.

Holly’s eyes widened. “Artemis, now is not the time.” She hissed.

He chuckled. “Do not worry,” Was all he said before Day pushed him further forward.

“Go, your boyfriend is waiting,” Doodah snickered, before grabbing Holly by the shoulders and leading her back to Root.

“Oh, I should inform you that there are bombs planted at the base of the building. Might want to get them before they explode in,” She checked her watch, “Six minutes and thirty-five, thirty-four, thirty-three…” Her and her fairies grabbed Holly and took off to the skies with their stolen wings.

Kurama panicked for a second. “Foaly, are there bombs?” He asked into his mic.

“No. It is simply a tactic to get us to not follow them. Still, grab Artemis and act like you think there are bombs. Make them think we believe them.” The centaur said with a scoff.

Kurama nodded and caught Artemis as he fell towards the red head. “Artemis. Are you alright?” He asked, concerned.

“Yes. Holly. They want us both.” He panted out, his knees shaking. “So cold,”

Kurama held him close and led him off the top of the building and back onto the street. “It’s alright. I’m sorry, but we have to let them take you again.” He whispered once he had placed Artemis in a H2 Hummer that Butler was driving. “I have a gift for you.” He held out his hands to reveal a blue cube.

“My C Cube. I don’t understand,” He was too far gone. He would black out soon, he knew it. “Minerva…she thought this out.”

“I’m right here, Artemis.” The blonde said from her spot in the Hummer. She grabbed him and held him close. “This is the only way. I’m so sorry,”

“I… trust you.” He gave a weak smile, then clenched his eyes shut as the vehicle pull onto the bust road.

Minerva bit her lip, then nodded, kissing Artemis softly. “I will save you again,” She said with her lips against his.

Kurama held back a growl and resisted the urge to rip the blonde away from Artemis. “Ahem. We should –”

“Yes.” Minerva blushed and sat back in her seat, buckling her seat belt. “I suggest you do the same.” As soon as the words were out of her mouth, the windows of the hummer were bused open and sleeping gas filled the vehicle. Butler swerved left and right, trying to avoid the other cars on the busy road. Guns were pointed in all of their faces and two sprites grabbed Artemis, yanking him from the car.

He grabbed the C Cube quickly and gasped as he felt it morph to his hand; Foaly had obviously been tampering with it. He was quickly wrapped in what he guessed was cam foil, and he could feel Butlers hand try and grasp his leg, but Artemis was already gone and carried off into the day sky.

OOOOOO

A/N: I told you it would be bad. Lmao. Anyway, I just would like to tell you that you guys are what inspire me to continue this. Usually I start to think that no one cares and I just kinda lose interest in my own stories. Alright! I’ll start on the next chapter now. It is going to be just a tad bit dark, but not much.
