Scene 6 ---------------- Genkai’s Shrine


* When Yusuke suddenly appears in the common room it startles Staci, who is helping Yukina clean by dusting off the coffeetable. Yukina hears her yelp and turns from the table of candles she’s straightening up. Yusuke studies the obviously-pregnant girl as she inches away to get closer to Yukina. Yusuke is quite a sight in his long, wild dark hair and bare tattooed torso.


Staci- H-he’s a.. demon.. A very strong one..


* Yukina smiles and touches Staci’s arm.


Yukina- Relax, Sister. He’s a friend.


* Yusuke tilts his head at the way Yukina addresses the girl. He then turns his attention toward the wide doorway where Kuwabara appears.


Kuwabara- Yusuke.


* Fear of the Toushin’s aura is enough, but recognizing the name she’s heard Hiei speak about on a few occasions causes Staci to shrink away more behind Yukina. Kuwabara senses her fear, sees the way Yusuke looks back toward her, and moves to place himself between them.


Kuwabara- Why are you here?

Yusuke- Who the h--- is she?

Kuwabara- She’s.. a friend of mine.

Yusuke- She’s a Human.


* Kuwabara crosses his arms.


Kuwabara- No! Really?


* Yusuke looks up at the slightly-taller redhead, annoyed by his sarcasm.


Yusuke- She’s pregnant.. to a demon.


* Unable to curb her growing fear any longer, Staci shrieks and makes a dash for the doorway. Yusuke flashes over to cut her off and gets ahold of her arm. It surprises the Toushin out of his concentration when he hears Kuwabara summon up his defenses behind them.


Kuwabara- Spirit Sword Double!


* Yusuke turns to look at Kuwabara, keeping his grasp on Staci.


Yusuke- You can’t be serious, Kuwa..

Kuwabara- Let her go.. Yusuke?

Yusuke- Who’s kid is it?

Staci- That’s none of your business!


* In a bold moment of desperation Staci clubs Yusuke upside his head. The action barely moves him, but he looks at her again.


Yusuke- Ouch, d--- it. Did you just hit me?

Kuwabara- I said let her go!


* Yukina finally decides that someone has to diffuse this situation and it looks like it’s got to be her. She calmly goes over and takes Staci from Yusuke’s grasp.


Yusuke- Look, you know I’d never hurt any.. Human female.. Let alone a pregnant one.


* Kuwabara studies the Toushin a moment.


Kuwabara- Pink elephants.


* Yusuke rolls his eyes, recognizing the code they’d set between them a while back. He looks away from Yukina who is comforting Staci, to face his burly friend again.


Yusuke- They lay purple eggs.


* Kuwabara relaxes and releases his swords.


Yusuke- What the h--- is going on?

Kuwabara- We can’t be too careful. You obviously sense that she’s carrying.. a demon’s baby.

Yusuke- Yeah. I’m curious about who the lucky guy is.

Staci- I said that’s none of your..!

Yukina- Easy, Staci. Calm down.. I’ll take you to your room.


* Yusuke attempts to reach for Staci again.


Yusuke- Woah, hold on, missy..


* Yukina stops him this time, grasping his wrist firmly.


Yukina- Don’t do that again.


* Yusuke backs off from the short, cold demoness.


Yusuke- Will everyone just calm down?


* Yusuke moves away to slump onto the couch.


Yusuke- It’s Hiei’s baby, isn’t it?


* Yukina and Kuwabara look at each other.


Yusuke- Look, I know the little guy’s gathered some kind of a.. love nest.. or something.. somewhere in Demon World.. Koenma finally grew a pair and let me see him.. He was talking with some.. female version of himself about the one he hid in the Shrine where his sister lives.. Being the awesome ex-Detective that I am I just kinda pieced things together.. I’m just a little fuzzy on all the details so I thought I’d drop in.

Staci- No! He doesn’t want you to know anything!


* Kuwabara lays a hand on Staci’s shoulder. Yusuke sighs.


Yusuke- So I’ve heard.

Kuwabara- Please calm down, Staci.. It’s okay. I know this guy. He’s not one of the kinds of demons that would use you to get to Hiei.


* Staci half glances up at Kuwabara then slumps against Yukina some.


Staci- I.. I feel so.. worn out.

Yukina- Of course. Let’s go to your room so you can lay down and relax.


* When the two females leave Kuwa looks back at Yusuke again.


Yusuke- I just hate being out of the loop.. You know how this feels, Big Guy.

Kuwabara- Hiei brought her here so she’d be safe.

Yusuke- Then he is the Father?

Kuwabara- Yeah. Amazing, huh?

Yusuke- You’d better start explaining.. Is Hiei raiding human World again?

Kuwabara- Not that I’m aware of.


* Yusuke smirks mischieviously.


Yusuke- That’s supposed to put me at ease, Kuwa?


* Kuwabara clenches his fists a moment at the barb, then he sighs and goes over to sit down beside Yusuke.


Kuwabara- All I can tell you is what she’s told us.

Yusuke- I’m all ears.


* Kuwabara takes a deep breath and begins the account, starting from when Hiei first showed up there with Staci. He then moves on to tell Yusuke everything of what Staci has told them. When he is done the redhead watches Yusuke stand and move away to pace thoughtfully. He soon turns back toward Kuwabara after glancing up toward the large portrait of Genkai that’s on the wall.


Yusuke- Has Koenma told you why no charges have been pressed against Hiei for this? It’s a crime according to Enki’s laws.. I’m pretty sure Spirit World frowns on this kind of thing, too.

Kuwabara- Is that why you left Keiko?


* Yusuke blinks at the out-of-the-blue question a moment.


Yusuke- No. I left her because I learned about an important Toushin sexual.. quirk.

Kuwabara- Wanna share?

Yusuke- No. Your head would explode, ya perv.. Stop tryin’ to derail me!

Kuwabara- I don’t have all the answers, myself, Urameshi!


* Yusuke hesitates then sighs.


Yusuke- Well, I’m glad not all things have changed.

Kuwabara- Why don’t you go ask this Enki guy or Koenma yourself?

Yusuke- Oh, I’ll get my answers.. well, I best get back to Demon World. I think I’ve learned enough here.


* Yusuke turns toward the sliding glass patio door.


Kuwabara- Well, it was still nice to see you again.


* He pauses to look back at his friend.


Yusuke- If you ever need help protecting her give me a yell. You know my number.

Kuwabara- Sure. But don’t be such a stranger.

Yusuke- Hey, it’s not easy being a Demon Lord. I’m a busy guy. See ya, Red.


* Yusuke gives a wave over his shoulder as he leaves. Kuwabara scratches his ear as he concentrates on Yusuke’s powerful aura until it disappears. The Human visibly relaxes then lowers his eyes.
