"You were drunk. I brought you home."
"That's it?"
Every inch of Hiei's body screamed NO! but out of his mouth came only one signature sound. "Hn."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kurama looked into Hiei's eyes for some other type of response, hoping to somehow, IN SOME AMAZING WAY, get more. But as usual, the Koorime's eyes did not show off his feelings. That is, most of the time. Kurama vaguely remembered a scnece where he had seen worry and care. But it was probably a drunken dream and nothing more. He remembered not to keep his hopes high because he had daydreamt and fantasized about the dark soldier many times. He had done all of that just to snap back into reality and have the truth slap him in the face. Hiei wasn't his, and there was a big chance that the small demon would never be his ever. He now moved those vibrant green orbs of his to stare out the window. Was Hiei going to leave? Was he going to leave again like he had done so many times in the past. Countless nights Kurama had slept on an empty cold bed, something he hated the feeling of. Even with all the warm layers of blankets, being alone did not keep you warm. And if it did, you heart and soul still felt as cold as the Koorime island.
Hiei's eyes followed the direction the Kurama's had led. He stopped at the window. He could leave, but he wouldn't. This was becuase he knew that if he did not address the issue on his mind now, he may never get to. Either that or it would be too uncomfortable. The soft padding under him reminded him of where he was. He was not outside, on a tree aganist the harsh day. He was in shelter, in Kurama's house, the house that he had come to many times before. It had an enjoyable atmosphere and Kurama was one of the few people who made him feel welcome. In the Makai, he had worked hard to earn his place amongst his group of bandits. Being one of the yougnest members certainly did not help. This might have been the reasoning behind Kurama's kindness, he was, after all, the legendary bandit. All those in the field strived to achieve his level of sucesss. And Hiei looked at the demon before him now. The human shell had done nothing to deface the Youko's beauty. It was another type of beautiful that gave you a sense of mystery but warmth at the same time. If anything this made me want you more Kurama, even though you probably think I would prefer the Youko. He was almost certain that was what Kurama suspected. But what Hiei wanted was not the Youko's power or skills, and something else that's rumored, but the ningen Kurama's kindness and hospitality.
Demons supposedly do not need that.
The room was silent as both youkai breathed in and out. Inhale and exhale. The tension in the air was so thick you could slice a knife through it. A warm breeze had come throught the window, but it felt as if it was cold winter wind. Eyes moved from the window only to gaze at each other. The feelings were no longer hidden now. They knew this had to start with words, but tensions hgh becuase this coudl change their friendship for the better or worse.
"There was nothing else?..."
"You said some things."
"And you ignored them thinking they were just a drunk's ramblings?"
"No."
Kurama's brows knitted themselves together. Then it wasn't just nothing. There was something I said. "No? I'm surprised, usually you wouldn't give a shit what anyone said if it sounded like nonsense."
It was Hiei's turn for eyebrow movement, lifting his left brow and taking in deep breathe. That's the thing, it wasn't nonsense to me. "It probabaly wasn't important, but it wasn't nonsense."
".... What did I say?"
Hiei had not expected Kurama to be so direct with the question. He wasn't sure how he should answer. But why should it matter to him? It's not like he had confessed his feelings and was waiting for a response. All he had to do was confirm if what the fox said was true or not. That was all. But why was he so hesitant? Probably because I'm afraid of the answer. He close his eyes momentarily and looked back on last day. It seemed to be years ago...
“Why, don’t you look extra cute tonight, Hiei-chan...”
“....ehehe.. Mmmm.. Koi...”
“Will you keep me warm tonight?”
“I said I would stay for the night...”
Yes, it had definately been an awkward night.
"You said some things you didn't mean."
Kurama looked down at the polished wooden floor, a disappointed contenance graced his face. He knew not to hope for Hiei to give long answers. The small demon knew the fewer words, the less conflict. "How would you know what I meant and what I didn't?" Probably because you can see right through me and you know me so well. Kurama leaned forward to Hiei, their two faces now just inches apart. He wanted so much to lean in and plant his lips onto the Koorime's. "Tell me, Hiei..."
"Koi."
Kurama had a confused look for a few seconds, until a thought hit him straight between the eyes. "Did I..."
"You called me that."
"I..."
"Now that you have received your answers, I want mine."
Kurama looked up at Hiei who was now on his knees on the bed, elevated. He was not sure how to answer the question that was coming now or later.
"Did you mean it?" Apparently, Hiei chose now.
Kurama stared into those red flames for what seemed like the millionth time today. He was captured by this demon. True, he had not been romanctically fasinated with the demon when they had first met, but who could blame him when Hiei was trying to kill him. It a little before their partnership with Gouki, where Hiei had found him once again, as he had said he might of. The had shared a inexplicable, silent bond that only the two of them understood. The silence between them was alawys comfortable. Even after the establishment of the Reikai Tantei. Being four people, the group always seemed at least a little divided, the number had certainly allowed for it. Their fighting styles matched brilliantly, often putting the two together. Thinking about all this, the ningen's decision still wavered. But as someone had once said,When in doubt, follow your heart. Kurama took the advice and his lips had almost moved at their own will.
"Yes."
Hiei's eyes widened even bigger than they already were upon hearing the response. Kurama's answer was a low, husky whisper. I can't believe the fox is still so sexual at a time like this. He suspected this was part of Kurama's nature, and that the fox wasn't trying anything at all. The response he was given was the one he had hoped for, but the question was, What does Kurama want? He wasn't sure how the fox wanted this all to be like. In some bizarre way, he now thought that maybe a "No" would have been an easier response but...
All thought was cut off as Kurama's lips touched his and they connected in a warmth-filled kiss.
Hiei knew his answer...
A/N : I tried to make this longer, I really did. I hope it is as long as it looks as soon as I post this up. Anyway, I think the next chapter will contain the lemon. Either that or the chapter after that. And the TWIST is coming up! I'm so excited. AHAHA. I've been barely holding this little plot sticker in. I want to email it to a few people and go crazy about it! HAHA. Mostly because, I haven't seen a YYH with this yet and I'm prone to take a challenge. Which kind of isn't good considering my work isn't the best. ^^;; Anyway.. Review please. =]
