Chapter 6
Plant Food
When night fell, and the moon was temporarily hidden by clouds, the two thieves snuck out of their room. Retracing their steps to the shop where they pawned off their stolen items, they quietly broke in through the back entrance. The locks were difficult for Kuronue to understand, but Kurama breezed through them as if they were children’s puzzles.
Kuronue resisted the urge to jump when an orange cat jumped to the roof of the building next to the shop and let out a cry. He stared at it for a few minutes before kneeling down to whisper into Kurama’s ear. “It’s time to go.”
The kitsune looked as if he was about to argue otherwise, but instead he rose. Kuronue jerked his head to the right. The black haired demon watched the cat warily as Kurama walked in the direction Kuronue had indicated. The cat took a step forward then gathered itself up, about to jump towards Kuronue. Not a minute was wasted as Kuronue turned and walked briskly up to Kurama.
“It’s the animal that jumped onto the roof next door. It’s called a cat and they come from the human world.”
“The Ningenkai?” Kurama whistled lowly, turning his head to look behind them. “That’s hardly normal, and it seems to be following us.”
“Of course it is. It either guards the store or is some sort of operative from the spirit world. Which ever it is, the beast only resembles a cat. I’m sure we’ll have a lot of fun when it transforms into it’s true form. Hn, that’s rather lazy of them, choosing something so obvious.”
“His loss, our gain.” The silver haired kitsune had almost guided them out of the city and away from prying eyes. “I’m sure once we dispose of it we can go back and hit up that store.”
“Heh, see something you liked? Something shiny, perhaps?” Kuronue chuckled, side stepping to avoid getting smacked by the youko.
“If I hear one more joke about that, I swear I’ll make you live regret it.”
“Ne, what are you going to do, cut me off?”
“I just might.” Kurama scowled, crossing his arms over his chest.
They had finally achieved enough distance from the city to eliminate the risk of their fight being heard. While it would look like a normal forest clearing to anyone who didn’t know any better, Kuronue knew that there were plenty of plants for Kurama to manipulate. The black haired demon turned, twitching his wings a bit as he roughly grabbed the youko’s chin. “You wouldn’t dare, my cute little nympho. I have it on good authority that you love sleeping with me and I’m one of the best you’ve ever had.”
>br>“Hmph, says who?”
“You. Or have you ever been told you talk in your sleep?”
Kurama growled and was about to comment when the two demons heard someone clear their throat. “I’m sorry, am I interrupting something?”
The black haired demon nipped at Kurama’s neck, smiling at their intruder. “Nothing I can’t do later” he said, winking at Kurama.
“If there is a later...” The orange tabby walked into the clearing, the small amount of moonlight picking up it’s reflective eyes. In fluid movements the cat stood up on it’s back legs, growing taller until the top of it’s head was even with Kurama’s chest. The feline features melted until the face, hands and feet resembled a more humanoid likeness. It’s ears and tail remained, but the fur on every other part of it’s body retracted and became lighter. The feline’s eyes’ glowed a dark red then settled into a ruby color.
“Cute, and look it’s a girl. Been awhile since I had one of those...” The kitsune licked his lips.
Kuronue sighed and smacked his arm. “Can’t you keep it in your pants for longer than ten minutes?”
“Hm. You said it yourself, I’m a nympho.”
“Guys!” The cat girl yelled, stomping her foot. “Focus please? I, the bounty hunter Kashima, am about to defeat the both of you.” She pointed to the kitsune. “You’re the legendary bandit, youko Kurama. Don’t try to deny it, I’ve been watching you for a while.”
“Voyeur,” Kurama whispered and joined Kuronue in snickering.
Every hair on Kashima’s tail stood up, making it thrice it’s original size. “Will you be serious for a-“ The girl froze as she stared up into Kurama’s eyes. The kitsune had stealthily moved in front of the little cat girl with out her noticing it, holding her chin in his hand.
“I assure you little demon, I am quite serious,” Kurama said in what Kuronue recognized as the low toned voice he used on his prey. “And if I had a little more time,” the silver haired youko lowered his lips to her ear, lightly pressing against it as he spoke, “I’d show you how serious I am.”
Kashima shivered, not bothering to move away from Kurama. The kitsune used his other hand to scratch down her neck and shoulder, shredding away the very small garment she wore. She winced and feebly tried to push away Kurama’s roving hand.
Kuronue licked his lips, smiling while playing with his red jeweled necklace. Kurama sure knew how to put on a show, even if it was going to be a short one. The black haired demon watched as Kurama lifted the girl’s chin to kiss her lips tenderly then ran his tongue over them.
“I wish you had appeared a little sooner, sweetness. We could have played for a little longer.” Kurama smiled then shoved the cat girl to the ground, gesturing for Kuronue to follow him.
“I... I’m not going to let you leave like that.... AH!” Kishima screamed as a large carnivorous plant sprung from the ground. It’s leaves at what appeared to be the head were taller than Kurama, fanned out and shaking as it honed in on it’s prey. The mouth was as tall as Kishima’s head, with two rows of razor sharp teeth on top and bottom. Kashima scrambled to her feet only to be lifted into the air when the plan wrapped it’s leaves around it’s prey, then sank it’s teeth into Kashima’s flesh.
“Such a shame to kill such a pretty play thing.” Kurama purred as he walked away.
“I’ll make it up to you.” The black haired demon laughed as they walked back into the city, ignoring the screams and cries for help. It never did bother him, but he guessed it wouldn’t bother most demons. That was just the way it was in the Makai.
~oOo~
Hiei and Kurama woke up slowly, the smaller demon stretching his arms out as he yawned. “Hm. I miss home,” Hiei mumbled.
“What was that?”
“Nothing, never mind.” The jaganshi winced as Kurama’s phone rang shrilly. “Good god, what is that thing?”
“Hold on... Hello?” Kurama said sleepily into the phone. “Yes. Mhmm... okay... I will. See you soon.” The red head hung up the phone, yawning a bit. “That was Yusuke, and he wants us to come over and watch some new action anime he just bought.”
“Us? How did he know I was here?”
“He didn’t, he just asked me to ask you if I met up with you before tonight.” He glanced at the clock. “Which isn’t that long away. We’ve slept half the day away.”
The little demon re-wrapped his arms around Kurama, pulling the kitsune to his chest. “Hn. I much rather spend what’s left of the day and the rest of the night doing what we did a couple hours ago.”
Kurama smirked, stroking Hiei’s chest. “We can’t stay in bed forever Hiei. Besides, my mother will be home soon. Let’s eat an early dinner then head over to Yusuke’s.”
“I don’t want to go over there again, last time-“
“Hai, and remember what came about after we last went to Yusuke’s.” There was a stunned silence that Kurama couldn’t help but smirking in. He raised his head from Hiei’s chest, lifting the ruby eyed demon’s chin a little and pressed a sensual kiss to his lips. “Hiei........ Please?”
Hiei rolled his eyes, looking away from the smug grin on the kitsune’s face. “Damn it... Fine, I’ll go with you.” The fire demon sat up slowly, the rest of his attention on Kurama as he stretched his arms over his head. The light blanket had mostly fallen from him body, only covering one leg and the majority of his lap.
Kurama glanced over his shoulder then stood up. “I’m taking a shower.” He grabbed some clothes out of the drawer, purposely taking his time as the little demon watch him intently. As Kurama closed the door to the bathroom behind him, he couldn’t help but sneak in a laugh. Teasing Hiei was possibly one of the most entertaining things he’s come across in all of his human years. The red head put his clothes on the hamper, then stepped into the shower, turning the knob to the left. He sighed as hot water poured out, cascading down his body in soothing waves. The retched headache he had early was nearly gone now, and dimmed even more after the relaxing water hit his body. Shortly after dousing his hair under the hot water, the kitsune felt an arm snake around his waist. The little fire demon drew Kurama to him, biting down on his shoulder in a playful way. Kurama gasped, also taking in a mouth full of water. While he sputtered he managed to get out, “what are you doing?”
“What’s it look like I’m doing? Tch, and I thought you had more practice at this than me.”
The kitsune turned around, smiling down at Hiei. “As much as I’d like to go another round with you, my mother will be back any minute.”
“So? Would she come into the bathroom and pull back the curtain?”
“No...”
“Hn, then I don’t see good reason why we can’t. Just be quiet... If you can manage that.” The last he said in a low voice as he scratched down Kurama’s spine. The red head moaned, leaning against Hiei.
“Evil little demon...” Kurama whispered, running his hands down Hiei’s back.
“Tch, of course.”
