Life Goes On

Scene 56 ------------------------------------------- Three Hours Later

* For a demon, at least some of the more intelligent species, keeping track of time is an innate ability. Also, for some demon species, patience is not an innate virtue. This is somewhat true of a certain goat demon Lord who is now pacing in the livingroom as Yusuke preoccupies himself with doing some territory paperwork and Kurama is relaxing on the couch writing down baby name ideas in his journal. Finally, Yomi moves to look over Yusuke's shoulder. The Toushin is reading over a contract of some sort. When Yomi tilts his head and 'Hmms' loudly Yusuke slowly looks toward him.


Yusuke- Oh, you're still here?

Yomi- Don't you have an advisor to handle such trivial things as paperwork?

Yusuke- What for? I can read for myself.

Yomi- Are you implying that I cannot read?


* Kurama pauses his writing to glance toward them.


Yusuke- I ain't implyin' nothin'..


* Yomi sighs. He straightens up and crosses his arms.


Yomi- I have been more than patient.. I understand that Hiei is wounded, what I need to discuss with him won't take long.


* Yusuke looks away. After a moment, the Toushin sighs, sets the contract aside, then stands.


Yusuke- I'll see if he's awake.


* Yusuke closes his eyes. Kurama shakes his head slightly and goes back to his journal, already knowing that Hiei has been awake for at least a half hour.


(#) Kurama- The sooner you let Yomi conduct his business with Hiei the sooner he'll go back to his own territory, Love.


* Yusuke growls telepathically at Kurama, then opens his eyes.


Yusuke- Alright, Yomi.. You can go in. He's awake.. Don't forget that he wears out faster if he's agitated.

Yomi- Might I ask for..?

Yusuke- Privacy? Yeah, he's already asked for it, too.


* Yusuke then glares up at Yomi as the goat turns to head toward the bedroom hallway.


Yusuke- Just don't forget that Kurama and I have fully claimed him!


* Yomi pauses at the archway to glance back toward Yusuke over a shoulder.


Yomi- No need to be paranoid.. If I still desired him as a mate you would not have to worry any longer about that paperwork.


* Before Yusuke can respond, he hears Kurama's quiet purr that calls him over to join him on the couch. Yomi continues on, using his highly-developed senses to guide him to Hiei's bedroom. Hiei is too weak to notice Yomi's arrival at first. Yomi continues using his senses to study Hiei's condition. When he finally moves to the bedside Hiei opens his eyes. The control Hiei usually exhibits is greatly compromised due to his injuries, so Yomi easily 'feels' his apprehension.


Yomi- Hello, Lord Hiei.. Or should I call you.. Shiyounin?


* Yomi guages Hiei as sadness flares within the koorime.


Yomi- (Quietly) If d truly known.. for certain..

Hiei- (Weakly) This.. is not.. necessary..

Yomi- It is for me.. I wronged you.

Hiei- Stop lying to yourself.


* Hiei raises his anger in his usual ploy to hide the rest of his emotions.


Yomi- You should know by now that you can't hide anything from me.. Not in this sterile environment,


* Finally, Hiei shifts his head to glance up at Yomi wearily.


Hiei- (Quietly) It was.. business..

Yomi- I suspect the answer to this, but I need you to clarify it.. Why did you not attempt to let me know..?

Hiei- (Weakly) Kich was upstairs with.. my family.. I belonged to him.. I screwed around with whoever I was assigned.. to cover.


* Hiei's eyes begin to slide shut. Even this brief emotional turmoil has nearly depleted what energy he had regained.


Yomi- It was Kichiro's request for that certain drug that drew me there.. All of Demon World, practically, was looking for you.


* Hiei struggles to re-open his eyes.


Hiei- (Strained) Th-they should've.. left me..

Yomi- There wasn'y any way in h--- that Yusuke was going to give up on you.. You shouldn't give up on yourself.

Hiei- (Quietly) We are.. both demons.. Tell me that you.. do not understand.. what will.. happen to me.. I'll be too.. weak to.. deliver my baby..

Yomi- I owe you something because of my dishonorable actions..


* Yomi quiets, realizing that Hiei has lost his battle to stay awake when the koorime's head rolls to the side. Yomi bows sllightly, acting outside of protocol for a moment, then straightens and leaves the room. In the livingroom, he finds Yusuke relaxing in Kurama's embrace. Yusuke looks up at Yomi.


Yusuke- Done already?

Yomi- Yes. We.. settled the situation. Now, since I seem to put you on edge so much, I'm going to return to Gandera.


* Before Yomi can reach the door, Yusuke blurs to intercept him. The goat takes a step back and instinctually raises his guard. He keeps himself in check, though, then relaxes when Yusuke just takes one of Yomi's hands in both of his.


Yusuke- I want to thank you.. for helping with that imposter.. as well as coming to see Hiei.


* Yomi firms his grip.

Yomi- We're both studs.

Yusuke- (Smirks) You got that right.

Yomi- But we are also allies.. I'm going to have a few words with Mukuro. Perhaps her mind just needs a few bolts adjusted.

Yusuke- Well, don't risk starting any wars. I plan on watching my grandbabies wreak havoc around here.

Yomi- (Chuckles) Indeed.. Good day, Lord Urameshi.. Lord Kurama.

Kurama- Yusuke's arranged an escort downstairs that will see you safely to the border of your territory.

Yomi- It's not necessary.

Yusuke- I know.. But it's still offered.


* Yomi nods, bows his head to Yusuke, then leaves as the Toushin returns to the couch.
