Life Goes On

Scene 54 ------------------------------------------- Hiei's Room

* As Hiei wakes up, he senses a presence that he wishes to avoid. For a couple moments he stays still hoping that she'll go away. Yukina finally sighs and reaches a hand over to touch his arm.


Yukina- (Quietly) Hiei, I know you're awake now.


* Slowly Hiei opens his eyes, but still avoids looking at her.


Yukina- I don't mean to intrude.. I'm just stabilizing your energy, brother.

Hiei- (Weakly) Please.. stop... I don't.. deserve.. to even have you.. touch me..

Yukina- I'm afraid you're in no position to make me stop.


* After a moment, Hiei shifts his gaze to look at her. His eyes carefully take in her full view. Even though his body is still very weak, his mind is sharp enough to calculate what he sees and feels. He soon closes his eyes and looks away.


Hiei- (Strained) Oh.. D---.. me to.. h---..


* Yukina leans closer to whisper in his ear.


Yukina- (Whisper) I'm not upset, please believe me..

Hiei- (Quietly) Why? How can you even.. stand me..?


* Yukina moves her hand up to lay it on his mouth to quiet him gently.


Yukina- (Quietly) Shh.. This will stay just between us.. I promise.. Nobody else knows for certain except Koenma..


* Hiei lays his head to the side, looking away from her kind eyes.


Yukina- Hiei,.. you're the only family I have left.. Your bravery almost took you away from me.. This is the least that I feel could have come from that situation..

Hiei- (Quietly) Don't fool yourself.. Now, I know why I will.. pay with my own life.. to give Yusuke this son..

Yukina- That's an old myth, Hiei. You don't live your life by such things.. I never have, either.. If I did, I wouldn't have ever left that island in the first place.

Hiei- I wasn't referring to any stupid myth!


* The effort of raising his voice causes Hiei to cough and nearly sends him back into hibernation.


Hiei- (Weakly) My.. wretched life must.. come to an end..

Yukina- Stop talking like that, please!


* Her raised plea startles Hiei. When he looks toward her he finds that his words were heard by more than just her. Yusuke moves to touch Yukina's shoulder.


Yusuke- That's enough for now, Yukina.. Could you please excuse us?


* Yukina glances up at him, then nods and leaves past Yomi who steps aside politely to allow her to pass. When his nose catches a scent he tilts his head to analyse it. Yusuke glances at Yomi over his shoulder.


Yusuke- Could you give us a couple minutes, Yomi?

Yomi- Of course. I'll go visit with Kurama.


* Yusuke looks back down at Hiei. He watches the koorime scrunch his brows as he watches Yomi leave.


Yusuke- Look up here at me.

Hiei- (Quietly) Why is he here?

Yusuke- Don't worry about..


* Hiei looks up at Yusuke.


Hiei- What has he told you?

Yusuke- Hiei, I want you to stop this.


* Hiei slowly relaxes back into the bed. He then shifts his eyes to the ceiling.


Hiei- (Quietly) The facts are what they are.

Yusuke- I'm not going to give you up so quick.

Hiei- If you kill this baby..

Yusuke- I don't plan on doing that, either!


* Yusuke leans to place his hands on either side of Hiei's head so he can look him right in the eyes.


Yusuke- Hiei,..

Hiei- I know.. through the bond.. What you know.. What (cough) Koenma has.. told you..

Yusuke- Then you also know that he said nothing is written in stone.. And don't be so cocky as to think you know everything I know.


* After a moment, Hiei closes his eyes, unable to bear looking at his Alpha any longer.


Yusuke- Why? - Why do you feel this way? especially when you know how much I love you?

Hiei- Because I'm trash! (Cough) I don't deserve..!


* Yusuke clamps a hand over Hiei's mouth.


Yusuke- Say that again.. and I'm going to tickle you back into hibernation.


* Hiei's eyes fly open and flare at the threat of that dreaded action. Yusuke smirks.


Yusuke- Yeah.. I thought you'd love that.


* Yusuke removes his hand from the koorime's mouth.


Yusuke- Now, calm down and answer me.. Let's get this s--- cleared up.

Hiei- (weakly) I've.. already told you.. I'm an unfaithful.. whore..

Yusuke- And I told you.. None of that matters to me.


* Hiei is quiet for a couple moments, then he closes his eyes again.


Hiei- (Quietly) You're not the one.. who has to deal with.. the guilt..

Yusuke- And why should you?

Hiei- (Quietly) Because I.. violated..

Yusuke- Do you think I'm a saint? H---, Hiei, I'm the one that raped you to start this whole mess.. Then I turned around and took Kurama first..

Hiei- You still don't grasp that!

Yusuke- Yeah, yeah, fate schmate.. That doesn't matter to me.. All I care about is the here and now.. That the three of us are finally together.. Now I want our union to be a happy one from here on.. Got that?


* Hiei opens his eyes to study the Toushin hovering above him. Yusuke softens his expression.


Yusuke- Hiei, I don't care what happened to you.. or who you screwed.. Whether it was Shishi.. or Ryuji.. or Yomi.. Or even.. her..


* Yusuke watches Hiei flinch visibly. He places his hand back over Hiei's mouth before he can speak out again.


Yusuke- I.. don't.. care.. We're together now.. as we should be.. If you even want to continue this First, Second stuff with Kurama, I can deal with that.. I just want you to stop this death junk.. Okay?


* After a moment, Hiei nods slightly. Yusuke relaxes, feeling how worn out Hiei's become again. He leans down closer to catch the koorime with a deep kiss. Hiei slowly relaxes and opens wide to accept the probing kiss without further protest. Finally, Yusuke pulls back.


Yusuke- Now, Yomi has asked to speak with you privately.. But you need to rest for a bit.


* Hiei nods.


Hiei- I will.. see him.. May I make a.. request?


* Yusuke hesitates, then sighs.


Yusuke- No eavesdropping?

Hiei- Hn.

Yusuke- Fine.. No connection.. But you're going to rest for a while first.


* Hiei closes his eyes. Yusuke stays where he is until he feels his small mate slip back into hibernation. He then leaves.
