Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Note: I don’t know if I specified, but obviously the gang have aged a bit and should be around 17-18. Hiei obviously is not with Mukuro in the Makai at the moment though. Short bit of leftover graphic sexual content. No lemon or anything this chapter.
Outside of the warded room Yusuke Urameshi was trying not to panic. He couldn’t hear what was going on inside, but he knew it wasn’t anything good. Rashly he thought that his spirit gun might blast open the door, but then realized he had no way of knowing if his friends were close to it. This type of situation counted as an emergency so he resolved to go get Hiei and Kuwabara from their post downstairs. He ran swiftly to the bottom of the stair well.
“Guys! Kurama and Botan are stuck in the room. The door slammed shut as soon as they set foot into the room, and it won’t budge. I thought about using my Rei gun to blow the door open but I didn’t want to risk hurting them.”
Hiei removed the bandana covering his Jagan eye, it glowed briefly and he sighed in relief.
“They are sleeping and unharmed, Cerdana obviously knows we are here, but she hasn’t shown any hostility. Best to go to the room and see what is going on.”
The three Rei Kai Tantei sped up the steps and down the hallways to the treasure room. Suprisingly upon arrival they found the door ajar. Before either Yusuke or Kuwabara could barge straight into the room Hiei held them back.
“Stay here, I’ll go in first.”
“No, if Kurama and Botan are in trouble we’re gonna help.” Kuwabara tried to push past him.
Hiei snarled at the carrot-topped ningen. “I have a reason for asking you to stay, so trust me for once!”
The koorime’s outburst stunned Kuwabara. Yusuke and he did as Hiei suggested and so watched the diminutive demon creep through the doorway. The sight that met him did not surprise him, as he had already had some idea of the scene with the help of his third eye. At the far end of the room Kurama and Botan slept, both were naked and clinging to each other in their enchanted rest. Before getting any closer Hiei touched Kurama’s mind with his telepathy, coaxing the kitsune to wake up. The half demon slowly began to stir, instinctively dragging Botan closer to his bare chest. He opened his eyes and peered evenly into Hiei’s red gaze.
“Wake the girl up and get dressed kitsune, we’re getting out of here.” Hiei turned around and stood patiently waiting for them.
Kurama looked down at the small woman in his arms, remembering what they’d just shared. How could he not, he was still inside her body. He brushed Botan’s bangs away from her eyes and gently woke her. She also remembered upon waking what they had done, and was beyond ashamed and embarrassed when she looked up into Kurama’s emerald eyes. Botan pushed away from his embrace, grimacing at the ache when she felt him leave her. She moved a few feet from him, standing with her hands covering what she could and eyes downcast.
“Don’t.”
Kurama’s soft command reached her ears, but she couldn’t bring herself to look up at him. He slowly rose and advanced to where she stood, crouched over in a failed attempt at trying to hide herself. Seemingly unaware of their nakedness, he casually put a hand on her shoulder and cupped her chin with the other, pushing her face up level with his own.
“Don’t think we did something wrong, bse wse we didn’t. It may have been against our will, but I don’t regret it, and you shouldn’t either Botan. She manipulated feelings that were already there. So let’s get dressed and we’ll talk about this when I have you safely out of this place.”
He turned then and scooped up their clothes, each of them hurrying to dress. Botan stiffly began to walk ahead of Kurama when Cerdana’s voice came over the intercom once again.
“Hello. It was nice of you to stop by, you were all very entertaining, so I’m going to let you leave. Do me a favor and tell Koenma that he’ll have his scroll back just as soon as I’ve mastered the discipline it contains.” As a side note she added, “Maybe you and I can play another time Hiei.”
She laughed when Hiei scowled in response. He wanted to find her and teach her a lesson, but he had a feeling that under the circumstances it was best to retreat for the time being. Cerdana would be taken care of on a later date, he promised himself that.
Cerdana smirked to herself, the Rekai Tantei had sufficiently amused her and she’d decided she wouldn’t punish them anymore this time around. The whole group was suddenly enfolded in a shimmery blue cloud. It transported them a couple miles from Cerdana’s abode. No one spoke, it was understood that something had happened in the treasure room, but also that it couldn’t be discussed at that time. Botan could not look at any of her teammates. Hiei left shortly after to tell Koenma news of their mission, he would of course leave a few things out. res rest walked to a nearby bus station, Kuwabara and Yusuke separated from Kurama and Botan when they came to their stop.
An uneasy silence enveloped the two recent lovers. In Botan’s mind she could not overcome the shame that she had slept with the quiet demon beside her. She had been with his youko form, but she also knew that she’d woken up with his human form, their bodies still joined. She’d been intimate with every part of Kurama, his whole being. Death was never supposed to experience these feelings, and they were confusing her. She was in her ningen body and as such was closer to being human, but she was conflicted. A glance in Kurama’s direction gave her no help as he wasn’t the easiest person to read. He was stoic as ever, probably brooding just as she was though, she guessed.
“I think I will stay with Genkai tonight, instead of going home to Rekai.”
Kurama briefly looked startled that she spoke but then answered, “If that is what you want, we’ll get off the next stop and I’ll walk you there.”
“I think I’ll be able to make it on my own, I can just ride my oar.” She never made eye contact with Kurama.
“I’d feel better if I walked you there.”
“Really it isn’t necessary, I know the way.” She nervously replied while under his gaze.
He took her left hand in his, reflexively stroking the bandage he’d tied around it.
“I’m going to walk you to Genkai’s and we’re going to clean this wound and put a fresh bandage on it. Then you’ll get some rest and I’ll go home. But we will talk about it all tomorrow Botan. It’s Friday and a school day, but I’m going to skip, so we can talk.”
Gold glinted in his green eyes for a moment when she finally looked at him. Kurama was not to be budged on the subject, and she knew it, so she nodded her head in compliance and got off the bus with him at the next stop.
Genkai looked a little perturbed to be awakened so late at night, but she let them inside and took Botan to the bathroom to tend her wound, at Kurama’s request. By the time they were done Kurama had gone. Later Botan lie awake in the guest room, her mind refused to wrap around the events of the evening so she tried to let it go, allowing sleep to come.

Just as Kurama had promised, he arrived early the next morning at Genkai’s to speak with Botan. He greated Genkai respectfully, bowing lowly to her and asking after Botan. She was eating breakfast in the kitchen, so he joined her at the table.
“Good morning Botan.”
“Morning Kurama.” She blushed and ate the last few spoonfuls of cereal before he spoke again.
“Would you like to go for a walk with me?”
“Of course, just let me clean up.”
Outside the temple they strolled side by side, Botan admiring the trees and grass more than paying attention to Kurama. The silent, seemingly young redhead led her to a stone bench and motioned for her to sit.
“Why won’t you look at me Botan? After last night you always avert your eyes.”
“I’m embarrassed, about what we did, it changes things.”
“Why?”
“Because we were friends, there was never anything like that between us, and suddenly there is.”
“I agree that it was a sudden change in relationship, but I’m willing to work back from a more comfortable level for you to build up a relationship at the level we experienced last night.”
“What are you saying?” Botan actually looked up, trying to read Kurama’s eyes.
“I’m saying that I want to try being with you. Last night we definitely skipped over to a very intimate stage of our relationship, but I want us to start from the beginning. I’m saying I like you, and making love to you meant something to me.” Kurama’s green eyes shown with sincerity.
“You really feel that way about me and what happened? If you do, then yes, I’d like to be your girlfriend.” She smiled at the kitsune, immensely happy that he actually was interested in her.
“I guess I’d better get back to Rekai, I probably have loads of work to do. I’ll see you later Kurama.” She rose from her seat and her oar appeared in her hand.
“Can I get a kiss goodbye?” Kurama smirked.
Botan turned red and nervously edged closer to her boyfriend and gave him a shy peck on the lips. Giggling a little she turned and mounted her oar soaring up into the sky and out of the sight of the smiling kitsune.
