Scene 5
Scene 5 -------------- A Couple Hours Later
* The Koorime has kept a grueling, yet measured pace. Only his name being called from behind finally stops him. He leaps down to the ground from the branch he’d landed on. The rest of the group are heaving and obviously exhausted. Dagon settles down beside them and folds his wings away.
Hiei- It’s not much further.. We’ve made very good time.
* Habataro raises up from leaning on his knees.
Habataro- Master,.. y-you go.. ahead.. We’ll rest an hour and.. join you.. there.
* Hiei hesitantly looks in the direction they were headed. Then he looks around.
Hiei- Shironji!
* Hab moves up closer to him.
Habataro- Seriously, sir.. I can watch these guys.
Kumataro- I’ll.. put a.. barrier up.
Hiei- You’re my responsibility.
* Sylk catches her breath and raises up to glare down at him.
Sylk- If you don’t go.. I’ll never let you touch me again.. I’m still connected to Eboni.. I can feel that she’s become very upset.
* Hiei is about to call for the Ninjini again when he poofs up before him.
Shironji- Master.
Hiei- What’s going on?
* Shironji bows his head.
Shironji- Her first child was a stillborn, sir.
Hiei- what?!
Shironji- Now her labor seems to have.. stopped.. The other females are upset. They can’t figure out what has happened to her second baby.
* Hiei slowly turns and moves away. For several moments nothing happens except the others exchanging knowing looks. Then Hiei finally speaks quietly.
Hiei(Quietly)- What did they do with the stillborn?
Shironji- Sarista took it out of the room because it upset the mare greatly.
* Hiei turns to glare at the tiny imp.
Hiei- What did she do with the stillborn, Shironji?!
* The Ninjini flinches at Hiei’s cold tone.
Shironji- I-I believe she.. in-incinerated it, sir.. It was a boy.. That I know for cer-..
Hiei- D--- it! - D--- me to h---!
Habataro- Sir, you had no way of..
Hiei- Shut up! Speak one more word..!
* With a growl the apparition turns and blinks away. It startles them, though, when it’s not in the direction of the fortress. Suddenly, Dagon ‘eeps’.
Dagon- Like h--- you will!
* They all watch the Crow spread his wings and take off after Hiei. They feel the reason and realize that the Crow has the best chance of catching their Alpha. Habataro goes over to Shironji.
Habataro- We’ll explain later. You get back to the fortress and find out what Sarista did with that stillborn.
Kumataro- If she didn’t destroy it tell her not to. Hurry!
* Habataro turns to tell the others that they’ll keep moving when Shironji disappears. The Lynx looks around.
Habataro- Where did Sylk go?
Coutaro- She.. took off after.. Lord Hiei.. Hab, I can.. barely.. move.
Habataro- Then I’ll carry you, little brother. Come on.
* Coutaro makes his way over to Hab, climbs onto his back, and the three Lynxs are off toward the fortress.
