A Drunken Kiss
Heh, sorry Renair, I tend to get away with the conversation in my head that I totally forget that people don't automatically know what I'm thinkng. I'll try to control that from now on, though I know there's a scene in this chapter wherein I do the same thing.
jicky: your review got cut off so you had to leave another, and it makes it seem like I have more reviews! Haha, kidding, I have no clue, but it's happened to another one of my reviewers too.
YuehKitsune: Yeah... I haven't exactly figured out the hair thing yet myself, which is why I haven't mentioned it yet. Oh, I found the pic though. If anyone is curious, this is where I got the idea to write this story, but I didn't notice the 'Captain' written on Yusuke's uniform, but for my story, Hiei's technically the leader... http://www.deviantart.com/view/7671692/ I'm a huge fan of this story she was writting, but I think she deleted it or something, so I'm a little depressed about it, but her art work is pretty good, too!

Chapter 5: A Drunken Kiss
*****
“You’ve changed too much, Shuuichi," Maya claimed
“His name’s Kurama,” a deep voice cut in.
“He’ll always be Shuuichi to me, no matter how hard he tries to be anyone else. It’s all a lie. This is fake,” she stated sadly before walking away.
“Actually I’ve never felt more real in my life,” Kurama smiled proudly to the retreating girl.
“She really likes you,” Hiei stated to the redhead as they entered the nearly empty library. Not very many students went into the library during lunch, they were usually found around the grounds outside or in the lunch, or if anything else in the computer rooms trying to find way around the porn block.
“She likes who I was pretending to be.”
“Are you sure about if this is who you really are?”
“…” taking in a deep breath, Kurama sighed out, “Truthfully, no, but I know that Shuuichi is not who I want to be anymore, if I ever was him to begin with. I think that it was a personality that I just fell into so that my mother would be happy.”
“Mama’s boy,” he scoffed.
“Shut up, you jerk,” Kurama scolded, but there was a light chuckle in there, “You think you know who you really are?”
“Aren’t we supposed to be studying about the Ainu?”
“Now that the question’s on you, I see that it’s not important.”
“Hn, shouldn’t we get this done with?”
“Fine, you can avoid it for now, but I’ll get your answer one of these days.”
The two studied almost completely alone, hidden in the corner of the library. Hiei found his eyes slipping from the book to the red haired beauty sitting across the table.
“Hiei? What are you looking at?”
“… A nerdy redhead.”
“Yes, what about the nerdy redhead?”
“Nothing,” he scoffed, suddenly turning to look out the window. There was a clear view of the football field. ‘Kurama must watch us from here… What the hell does he think of me?’ Hiei demanded of himself. He couldn’t figure out whether Kurama thought of him as a friend or not, and even if he did, did that mean that he had a chance with the amazing beauty?
“Hiei, can I ask you something, and you promise not to get mad? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to, though.”
“What is it?”
“What happened to your parents?”
“They died.”
“But how?”
“…an accident…”
“What kind of accident?”
“The kind that ends up with people dead.”
“Was it a car crash? A mugging?”
“No, it was the kind of accident where two people who should have never met end up falling in love and having twins… then one day both sides of the family say that the two have to go. It was disgraceful for them to sleep with the enemy.”
“It sounds like Romeo and Juliet,” he nearly cooed
“Only difference is that Romeo and Juliet made the conscious decision to commit suicide. They were found in pieces… chunks of them stuck to the walls and ceiling… at least they died in each other’s arms…”
“Oh, Hiei, I’m so sorry.”
“Hn.”
“Um, maybe we should…”
“What happened to your father?”
“He died before I was born, so it’s always been my mother and me. It was a mugging only a few months after I was conceived. Mother says that I look like him, but really, I have no idea where my hair came from.”
“That’s natural?” he suddenly tugged at the crimson locks.
“Ow, yes, don’t pull on my hair.”
“Hn,” he had been secretly wondering about how his hair felt, and it did not disappoint, silky as a dream.
“Jeez, that hurt, and besides, I didn’t think that it would surprise you, red-eyes.”
“Only in certain light do they look red.”
“Let me see,” he lifted Hiei’s chin so their eyes met. Time seemed to slow down and the second spanned for a minute before Kurama realized that they probably looked a little too friendly.
“Are you done?” Hiei raised an eyebrow, which disappeared into the bandana that he wore everyday.
“Oh, um, sorry…” he let his hand drop.
“Hn, so?”
“What?”
“Are my eyes red?”
“Very,” he felt his cheeks heating up. That had been a lot more intimate than he had been with Maya since they first started dating. He could swear that Hiei was leaning a little closer when he was holding his chin, and he also felt the urge to just lean in a little more. The thought made his face feel even warmer.
“Are you feeling all right?”
“Yes, it’s just a little hot in here,” he opened the top buttons on his shirt.
“No it’s not, it’s always freezing.”
“That’s because you’re always wearing those shirts with the sleeves ton off,” he flicked at some of the scrag of Hiei’s shirt.
“And you’re always wearing those button-up shirts your mother buys you.”
“Let’s not get into that again.”
“Why not?”
“Your hands need time to heal first.”
“Hn.”
“Speaking of buttons-ups, it looks like you missed one,” he chuckled softly pointing at the undone jeans.
“Shut up, it was kind of hard to change,” he lifted his bandaged hands.
“…” taking a quick look around to make sure no one was watching, Kurama quickly reached for Hiei’s pants.
“What are you doing?” he nearly hissed.
“Hold still. I’ve almost got it,” he felt silly trying to button another man’s pants, but at the same time there was a slight tingle of excitement, which he couldn’t explain.
“S-stop it!” his eyes went wide as he watched the slim fingers fix his clothing a little too close to… well… parts that he was having trouble keeping down at the moment.
“Did you want to walk around with your pants falling off the entire time?” he smiled softly. He had no idea why his heart was suddenly racing.
“Hn.”
“What does that ‘Hn’ mean?”
“Shut up.”
Kurama laughed.
“Idiot.”
“I’m not the one with bandages around my knuckles. I also didn’t need help with just buttoning up my pants,” he pointed out smoothly.
“Hn, I don’t know if I should even bother inviting you to the stupid party if you’re going to be a smart ass.”
“I’m the smart ass?” he raised a fine eyebrow, “What party?”
“The party Yusuke is going to be throwing tomorrow.”
“What’s the party for?”
“The hell of it.”
“What?”
“He likes to throw parties just to see people get drunk. So he’s not alone.”
“Oh…. Um, what time?”
“You actually want to go?”
“I’m still trying to figure myself out. Who knows, I might actually like being drunk.”
“You might at the time, but the day after is going to be hell.”
“Hm, it’d still be good to experience at the very least.”
“Tomorrow after school.”
“Where is it?”
Hiei felt his heart starting to pound, “I can show you. We can meet up after school.”
Feeling slightly nervous for some unknown reason, Kurama managed a nod.
*****
That night Hiei had a weird dream about Kurama and his drinking habits:
“Kurama, give me that can,” Hiei growled trying to get the already wasted redhead to give up his seventh beer.
“Oh, come on, Hiei. I’ve just found myself. This is fun.”
“Yeah, Hiei, let him have his fun,” Yusuke laughed.
“He’s going to make himself sick if he doesn’t stop now,” Hiei sneered at the taller boy who was holding the alcohol high above the spiky head. Both were too woozy to fully stand so both were only really able to get on their knees.
“You’re so cute, little Hiei,” Kurama giggled softly, suddenly pulling the Hiei on top of him as he laid out on the floor, holding the small but muscled form as close as possible to him. “You’re so warm, too.”
“What--- What are you doing?”
“Mm, I’ve figured out who I am,” he muttered before kissing Hiei firmly on the lips. The instant he tasted those sweet alcohol tainted lips, Hiei lost all coherent thought and the two nearly melded together.
“Woo! Go!” the football team cheered as the two rolled about on the floor, but when clothes started to come off Yusuke managed to pull the two apart long enough to tell them to move to his mother’s bedroom.
Hiei was on his hand and knees as Kurama moved over him. Sweaty skin, soft pants, sweet breath tickled his ear.
*****
“Hiei? Are you okay?”
“Yes,” he pulled at his sheets, his voice going up an octave as he tried to hide his morning erection from his sister in the doorway to his room. That was odd. He hadn’t expected to dream about being uke…
*****
“Good afternoon, Hiei, how was your day?”
“Fine… you?”
“It was good, although Maya is still trying to worm her way back into my heart.”
“Is it working?”
“Until I figure out who I am I don’t really want to be with anyone in that way,” he thought out loud about it with a heavy sigh as the two made their way to assumingly Yusuke’s house.
“Hn.”
“I think that I’m starting to understand your little grunts,” Kurama chuckled softly.
“You’ve been around me too much then.”
“You’re so silly.”
“I don’t think that anyone’s called me that before,” he pulled his spiked choker from his bag and tried to put it on, his hands didn’t seem to be working as his knuckles were still in a bit of pain.
“Oh, here, let me do that.”
“Hn,” Hiei handed him the gothic jewelry before the two stopped on the sidewalk, and Kurama stood behind him. He could feel his cheeks heat up a little as the redhead’s fingers brushed against the nape of his neck as he tried to tie the choker on his slim neck.
“You’re skin is so hot,” he noted as he pulled away.
Hiei’s head snapped to stare up at his new friend.
“I-I didn’t mean it that way. It… it’s just that you feel really warm, like you’re sick or something. Are you sure you don’t have a fever?”
“Yes, I’m perfectly fine. I’ve never been sick a day in my life," Hiei scoffed.
“Even after going drinking with Yusuke and Kuwabara?”
“I know my limits, and do not pass that.”
“Really? You seem the type to push all boundaries.”
“Physically yes, but when it comes to my health as well as my state of mind, I keep those things intact.”
“That’s rather impressive,” Kurama nodded.
“In what way?”
“I didn’t expect you to actually care about those kinds of things.”
“I guess I think more ahead than you thought.”
“Yes. That looks good on you,” Kurama nodded toward the choker.
“Hn.”
“You’re welcome,” he laughed, and watched Hiei roll his eyes, “How far does Yusuke live anyway?”
“Just a few more blocks. Do you want to get something to drink before we go? All Yusuke will have is alcohol. Neither him nor his mother care for much else.”
“Oh… well, I have to try it at some point and time, right?”
“Hn, that’s up to you.”
“Please, just make sure I don’t do anything stupid if I do go over my limit.”
*****
The entire football team was there with their girlfriends, close friends, and in Jin’s case, boyfriend.
“A-are they really…?” Kurama whispered to Hiei after he had been introduced to the teen with an Irish accent and the blue haired boy sitting between his legs on the ground.
“Yeah, they’ve been going out for about a year now.”
“A year and a half now,” the fluffy haired boy correct from the couch.
Kurama's eyes went wide, he hadn’t meant to be heard.
“He’s got some really great hearing,” Hiei explained, “no one knows why though. He’s a bit of a gossip, and one of the few people that can be with Yusuke for more than a few hours straight.”
“So, no one thinks that it’s odd that they’re both guys?”
“Why should we?”
“Well… I mean, I’ve heard a lot about football players not really liking homosexuals.”
“You shouldn’t believe everything you hear. For example, I’ve heard that you’re Mr. Perfect who doesn’t do anything except read and study for school, but something tells me that you’ve already gone all the way with that Maya girl.”
“Well… we never really…. I mean, we’ve fooled around a couple times, but it always felt a little uncomfortable.”
“Hn?” Hiei raised an eyebrow as he handed Kurama a can of beer, and watched amused as Kurama tentatively opened it and started to sip at the alcohol. “So you’re still a virgin?”
“And if I am?”
“Whatever, doesn’t bother me.”
“What do you mean by that? Are you saying that you’ve gone all the way?”
“Hn,” Hiei smirked
“With who?” emerald green eyes went wide.
“That’s not what that meant.”
“Darn, and here I thought I was getting the hang of it.”
A rather tipsy Yusuke approached the two boys, “Oh, come on, Hiei, don’t keep him in suspense, why not tell him? Mukuro’s still after you.”
“Mukuro?”
“Yeah, she gave him head at some party a while back in hopes that he’d go out with her, but Hiei was too drunk to really remember it anyway.”
“I thought you said that you don’t get drunk,” Kurama turned to the shorter teen.
“And now you know why,” he quickly downed the beer in hopes of burying the memory.
About three hours into the party, Hiei and Kurama had spent most of it just talking, Kurama keeping up most the conversation of course.
“Hey! Let’s play spin the bottle!” Yusuke shouted, pulling at Keiko’s hand and the two started to form a circle.
Everyone was a little out of it due to the gallons of alcohol that was flowing through the apartment. Hiei was just glad that Kuwabara knew better than to bring Yukina to these kinds of parties. Stumbling slightly, everyone made it into a circle.
It was only two rounds in and Hiei had to watch as one of the larger running men kissed Kurama. Still blushing, Kurama spun the empty bottle of beer.
Chewing on his lower lip, Hiei’s eyes went wide when the bottle indicated him as the one to kiss Kurama. His heart was racing as he stared at the bottle, unable to face the redhead next to him.
“Come on, Hiei!” the very intoxicated Yusuke slapped Hiei on the back after a minute of no action, “It’s easy, see? Just like this.”
The quarter back choked as he watched Yusuke’s and Kurama's lips connect.
“Yusuke,” Keiko, who was also a little out of it, tried to slap her boyfriend.
Bam!
“Ouch,” Yusuke held his cheek as well as the back of his head, where he had landed against the wall.
“…” Hiei started at his fist, which had automatically slammed into Yusuke’s face.
“Hiei?” Kurama held the small wrist suddenly, “Did you hurt yourself?”
“No, I’m fine,” he pulled away, and left the apartment.
“Where are you going?” Kurama had followed him out on to the outdoor hallway which connected all the apartment doors to the stairways.
“I just needed some air,” he instantly caught the redhead as Kurama tripped in the doorway.
“Oh, um, sorry,” he blushed when he noticed how close they were, lips barely centimeters away. The alcohol was definitely getting to him. Closing his eyes, he leaned in closer to diminish the gap, only to feel Hiei’s rough hand covering his mouth. “What are you doing?” he pouted through the fingers.
“You asked me not to let you do anything stupid, so I’m not going to let you do anything stupid, okay?”
“I’m sorry,” he stood up slowly, using Hiei for balance.
“Hn.”
“I guess you don’t like me, huh?”
“I never said that.”
“Being around you… it makes me feel funny…” he said suddenly.
“What?” Hiei nearly gasped.
“In the pit of my stomach… I feel nervous around you.”
“Wh-why do you say that?” his eyes went wide when he noticed Kurama moving in again, “K-Kurama stop,” but Mr. Perfect student used the move he had when they first started the tutoring lessons, except Hiei found himself on his back, hands pinned above his head.
“Shh,” he hovered just an inch over the slightly parted, thin lips.

What's funny is that isn't really a cliff hanger, even though it seems that way... sorta... but that is the end of the scene, so don't expect it to continue in the next chapter. You'll see what happens though next time! I'll give you a hint; Kurama and Hiei wake up in bed together! Ha ha ha!
Until next time...
