Life Goes On

Scene 47 ------------------------------------------- Two Days Later

* Yusuke has decided to throw a party to proudly announce both of his mates' pregnancies, much to Hiei's consternation. In fact, said koorime would not be standing beside the Toushin Lord on this platform at this very moment if Yusuke hadn't exercised his authority in ordering him to attend. While Kurama has never minded being publicly recognized while amazingly managing to remain humble, Hiei would always prefer to be left to himself. For the first hour Yusuke and his two mates had simply sat in their proper places, with Yusuke on the larger throne in the middle, Kurama in the slightly smaller one on his right, and Hiei on his left on the floor, greeting the various dignitaries that parade before them. Yusuke soon bores of nodding and speaking to each one so he has eventually just resorted to raising a hand dismissively at each well-wisher. Until he hears a familiar voice and looks up at his bald general Hokushin.


Hokushin- Everyone has now been greeted, M'Lord.. Lord Yomi sends his regrets that he can't come at this time, but he will drop by at a later date.. And Lord Mukuro.. um.. Well, she just sent a note that says..


* Yusuke snatches the note to glance at the brief two word message. Kurama raises a hand to hide his chuckle. Hiei 'hmphs', crosses his arms, and looks away.


Yusuke- Alright.. I got the messages.. Bring everyone to attention so I can make the announcement properly.. Then we can start the feast.


* Hokushin nods, bows quickly, then turns to call all the gathered guests to order. As Yusuke stands to move forward he ruffles Hiei's spikes with a mental message.


(#) Yusuke- Try to look a little happy that you're gonna have my kid, Sparky.


* Kurama chuckles again as Hiei flicks his hair back into order.


Yusuke- Hail, all my loyal subjects!!

Crowd- Hail to you, Lord Urameshi!! Hail!! Hail!!

Yusuke- Alright, alright.. You know I love you all, too! But listen up! I brought you all here today to announce a couple things.. First of all, the newest addition to my Royal Family, my new mate Lord Hiei!


* Yusuke turns to motion toward the koorime.


Yusuke- Also, both he and Kurama have been blessed with producing more of my heirs! Kurama is carrying our next litter of three..


* The crowd cheers.


Yusuke- And Hiei is carrying our third son!

Kurama- (Quietly) Fourth, Love.


* As Yusuke turns to look toward Kurama puzzled Hiei looks away again. The crowd of happy Toushins breaks into laughter as Kurama reminds Yusuke about Chiisai. Hiei's eyes catch the movements of one member of the crowd that has something else on his mind. When he raises a short blow tube toward Yusuke in a blink everything goes awry. Hiei realizes what's about to happen. The assassin gives a quick blow into the tube. Hiei blurs up to intercept the projectile. The impact on his small frame knocks Hiei into Yusuke's back. The Toushin turns to catch Hiei as he doubles up, clutching at his chest. The crowd that was cheering now erupts in yells and screams.


Yusuke- Hiei!?


* Several Toushins that were around the assassin quickly scramble to capture him. Kurama rushes up to place himself in front of his two mates, Rose Whip now at the ready. Hokushin gives the order to secure the assassin and place him in the dungeon as he hurries up toward the platform to join Kurama in case the prisoner wasn't alone. Yusuke pays no attention to anything except his collapsing mate. He quickly gathers the dazed koorime up and uses his own demonic speed to blur up the stairs to their personal quarters. Kurama and Hokushin follows as quickly as they can. When Yusuke bursts in the kids are all playing a board game on the livingroom floor. Hiei's twins cry out when they see Yusuke carrying their bloody Papa through to the bedrooms. When Kurama and Hokushin enter the kitsune pauses to settle the kids down as much as he can while Hokushin stays close to the door to make sure it is locked down. The bald general then hurries to the computer station to call for more security around the Royal living area. Kurama notices that Chiisai is now cowering back into a corner. He hurries over to him.


Kurama- He'll be okay, Chi..


* Kurama quiets when Yusuke's voice breaks into his mind.


(#) Yusuke- Get Botan here.. He's hurt bad, 'Rama!


* Kurama hurries over to relay the order to Hokushin quietly. Ichiro and Jiro both take the kitsune's place in trying to console their baby brother.


Kurama- (Quietly) Call Lord Koenma, let him know what has happened.. We need the healer Botan.. Send the message by keyboard so it won't upset the kids further.


* Hokushin nods as Kurama writes down the special frequency on a notepad. Kurama then hurries to Hiei's room. He finds Yusuke desperately pressing a towel to the wound in Hiei's chest. Kurama fetches another towel and joins them on the bed. Hiei just lays staring at the cieling. Kurama taps his cheek gently.


Kurama- Hiei, try to stay with us.. Can you hear me, Sweetie?


* No response. Yusuke emits a sobbing curse.


Yusuke- No.. Oh s---.. Please, Enma.. Don't take them from me..


* Yusuke turns his tear-blurred eyes up to Kurama.


Yusuke- He.. saved my life..

Kurama- Yes.. Whatever was shot must have hit an artery near his heart..


* Yusuke watches Kurama try to feel inside the wound carefully a few moments until he shakes his head with a growl.


Kurama- whatever it was.. it acts as though it's alive in there.. I can't get ahold of it.. It's dangerously close to his heart..


* Kurama's analysis is cut short when they hear Hiei gurgle as he jerks and tries to speak in a moment of regained coherency.


Hiei- (Gurgled) Yus-Yusuke,..?

Yusuke- I'm okay, Baby.. Don't talk..


* A portal opens and the teenaged Prince follows Botan out of it. They hurry over to the bed.


Koenma- I've called for Yukina to come, as well.

Yusuke- Please.. Please save him..


* Koenma looks at Kurama when Yusuke collapses forward to embrace Hiei tighter. The koorime's eyes have rolled shut.


Koenma- What happened, Kurama? I didn't have time to check the monitor..

Kurama- Assassination attempt on Yusuke.. Hiei spotted it and took the hit..

Yusuke- I can't lose him! Not now.. Please, not now!

Botan- I'm going to do everything I can, Yusuke.. But I need to get to the wound..

Yusuke- I can't let go of this towel.. He's losing too much blood..

Botan- Kurama, please..


* Kurama starts to reach for Yusuke until the Toushin growls and looks up at him with his eyes flashing


Yusuke- Don't!


* Koenma decides that he'd better step in. He hurries over and touches the mufuuken to Yusuke's forehead.


Koenma- Yusuke, sleep!


* Yusuke tries to fight the spell off as he begins to take his full demon form.


Yusuke- No!!

Koenma- Sleep, now!!


* After a burst of his own energy to strengthen the spell, Koenma catches Yusuke when he finally slumps into his arms. The godling looks down at Hiei as the blood begins to gush out more. Kurama goes back to work at helping Botan hold the towel. A second portal opens as the kitsune speaks to Botan.


Kurama- Whatever the projectile was, it's moving around inside his chest.. I couldn't get it out.


* Yukina hurries over to the bed after giving Kasaba to Koenma.


Yukina- Hiei!


* Kurama looks toward her. When he sees her slight rotundness he looks up at Koenma. The godling shakes his head and Kurama understands that now isn't the time to discuss the cause. He looks at Yukina again.


Kurama- You two need to get him stabilized and see if you can get that.. whatever it is in there.. out..


* Yukina and Botan both nod.


Koenma- When you do get it out one of you come get us.. I can feel that the kids are upset.. Kurama, can you carry Yusuke?


* Kurama looks at Botan.


Kurama- I can detect a faint smell that means the projectile may also have been poisoned.. It's probably why he's bleeding so much.

Koenma- Kurama, I need to get Kasaba out of here.


* Kurama leans to nuzzle against Hiei's cold cheek a moment, then hurries around to gather Yusuke up easily. Koenma carries out the curious boy in his arms. When Kurama reaches the door he pauses to glance back at the awful scene on the bed. The kitsune then carries Yusuke to their own bedroom. Koenma hurries out to the livingroom to set Kasaba on the couch, he comforts the kids a couple moments, then hurries to the bedroom Kurama is in. He leans in the door watching the kitsune make sure that Yusuke is laying comfortably. Kurama glances up to motion toward Koenma, giving the Teen permission to enter their bedroom. Koenma moves to sit in a chair beside the bed. All they can do now is wait.
