Book 7 - Fixed - Chapter 1
Book 7

The ambulance pulled away from the hospital door, lights blazing. Yusuke watched it drive off, eyes glazed over. The rain falling heavily around him covered up the fact that tears were streaming down his face.
Ryu noticed his father’s pain, but knew no way to help the former detective now. “I’ll get tickets as soon as possible to Kyoto. We’ll go as soon as I can get in touch with Kurama.”
Yusuke nodded, turning away, his body language telling volumes. As he stood next to his son outside the sliding automatic door, his body stood hunched over slightly, shoulders slouching, and the usual look of cockiness replaced with an overwhelming insecurity and despondency that was palpable to his son.
“I’ll meet you in the car.”
That was all he said as he walked away, heading toward the small parking garage. Ryu followed him slowly, watching his father. He was silent as his father dropped to his knees in the middle of the sidewalk, pointing his face up to the sky, a demon’s unnatural cry screeching through the air.
“KEIKO!!!!!”

“Damn it. Just a minute. Can’t a woman finish her shower? Sometimes I wonder if I can get some piece and quiet.”
Amaya snarled as she walked toward the door, blue yukata tied around her body and a fluffy blue towel wrapped around her head. The bell kept ringing as she walked forward toward the door. “Good Lord, knock it off! I’ll be there in a minute!”
She unlocked and opened to door to the apartment, not bothering to look though the peephole; feeling only human energy behind the door. As she opened it, she spotted a young woman, about middle twenties with long brown hair and deep ocean blue eyes. She wore the clothes of a traditional miko, white kimono top with a red hakama, tobi socks and sandals.
“Hello, are you Saikoubai-san?”
“Yes, I am. May I help you?”
The girl smiled, handing Amaya an envelope with the kanji for ‘dark water’ wax sealed onto the flap holding it shut.
“Your Mother requests your return home.”

Hinote walked out of the temple, smiling after an appointment with her healer cousin Harime. Harime had confirmed her cousin’s thoughts.
“Be sure to take vitamins and eat right. Level back your training to light workouts and a lot less contact. You will have to tell Koenma-sama.”
There were other directions she was given, but she was too ecstatic to listen to much and had to have Harime write them down.
She picked up her cell phone as she climbed in her car, dialing Ryu’s number. When he didn’t pick up she left a message.
“Hey sweetheart, call me back. I need to talk to you, It’s important.”
