Life Goes On

This scene was thrown in just for thoth :o) While I don't put any stock in such a thing I thought it would just click in great for this story. Putting in this note without trying to give too much awaya, lol.

chug, you're a new reader I gather, not sure if you've read the first three parts of this.. Are we on sequel #4??! (lol).. If you have, then great because you know what a roller coaster ride I can take my readers on. If you haven't read the others, then brace yourself. Because just when things look all nice and cozy.. sometimes stuff happens.. ;o)

Scene 45 ------------------------------------------- Spirit World

* Toddler Koenma is busily doing his usual task of stamping the usual paperwork when Botan enters.


Botan- Sir, are you busy?


* Koenma pauses only long enough to raise a scowl at the ferry girl. He shakes his head and continues when she raises a hand to hide her giggle.


Koenma- I should make you do this for one hour!

Botan- Only an hour, sir?

Koenma- That's all you would be able to handle, Botan.


* George turns to glance at them from his job of monitoring his computer for signs of trouble in the other two worlds.


George- Hey! Don't some humans have a tradition down there that they call Boxing Day?


* Koenma pauses again to look blankly at the blue ogre.


George- You know, where bosses and employees trade places for a day..?


* Koenma temple throbs.


Koenma- Between the two of you, I'm getting a headache!!


* George gulps and turns back to his work quickly.


Botan- Well, the reason I asked is because I just came from visiting Shishi and..


* Koenma 'eeps' and looks at Botan again.


Koenma- Shishi?! D---, I forgot all about him!!

Botan- He asked me about how Hiei is doing..


* Just then an orange ogre runs in and slaps a red-tagged paper down on Koenma's desk.


Fred- That just came in, Sir. I rushed it right up.


* When Koenma sees the name on the new birth certificate he rubs his chin thoughtfully.


Fred- Sir, would now be a good time to ask..

Koenma- No.


* Koenma grabs up the paper then leaves the office. In the elevator he transforms into his Teen form. When it opens he moves purposefully through the crowded hallway of the West Wing. Various ogres weave and dodge as they hurry along on their own agendas. When Koenma finally reaches the holding unit where Shishi is waiting he glances inside. The spirit Banshee is meditating as it floats in the center of the unit, just above the floor. Koenma takes a deep breath then steps inside. Shishi opens his eyes and looks up at the godling.


Shishi- Do I know you?

Koenma- Funny. I've brought something to show you.


* Shishi floats around to place his back to Koenma.


Shishi- Unless you have a short, dark koorime waiting to come in I have nothing to..


* As Shishi speaks the Teen rolls his eyes then goes over to quiet him by placing the certificate in front of his upturned nose. Shishi blinks his eyes then looks up at Koenma.


Shishi- So.. He went to Yusuke? Is that why he hasn't..?


* Koenma sighs, then places the paper in a pocket.


Koenma- Shishi, I told you last time we talked.. When you passed it upset Hiei more than he let on.. He took off for a couple days.. You should be happy that he finally came to his senses and went to Yusuke.


* Shishi lowers his eyes then stands up.


Koenma- If he hadn't gone to him you know what would've happened within a year..


* Shishi slowly nods.


Shishi- (Quietly) We both knew that he really belonged with him anyway.


* The misty being turns and moves away slowly.


Shishi- It's time to move me on, then.


* Koenma studies Shishi a moment as he thinks.


Koenma- Let's not be hasty. I don't want to move you on when you're sad like this. It won't be good.. Hey, there's always the option of reincarnation.


* After a moment, Shishi turns to look at Koenma with an upraised eyebrow.


Shishi- Reincarnation? - You can't be..

Koenma- I most certainly am.. I know without a doubt that you qualify..

Shishi- But.. Where..? Who would I..


* Koenma raises his hand to rub his chest where the birth certificate was placed in the pocket.


Koenma- I think I have the perfect place for you.. Of course, I wouldn't be able to allow you to have any memories of your life as you knew it..


* Shishi rubs his chin.


Shishi- Hmm.. Well, I do think I went much too soon.. To be able to live a whole new life.. I would be starting out again as an infant, right?

Koenma- Yes. Shall I get your reservation in on a new life, then?


* Koenma watches the spirit move back and forth a couple times as it thinks about the decision. Finally Shishi nods and faces the Prince.


Shishi- Yes. I will take that option. Thank you very much.


* Koenma nods.


Koenma- I'll go get your processing started.


* Koenma starts toward the door.


Shishi- Sir,.. could you give Hiei a last message from me?

Koenma- Definately.


* Koenma watches Shishi close his eyes, take a deep breath, then look at him with a smile.


Shishi- Tell him that I'm happy for him, wish him and the boys all the best,.. and make sure that he knows that I understand why he took off.. Oh, and make sure he knows that I'm going on to my next life happy.

Koenma- Is that all?


* Shishi nods. Koenma answers with his own nod and leaves with a smile of his own twitching his lips.
