Hello everyone....man I forgot how far you guys were and geeze...its not far ^^; I'm still worknig on chapters but between work and my boy friend ^______^ who I still have and am happily with woot! It is kinda hard to keep writing...although I am at chapter 46 or maybe 47 so its still good and the chapters are going to be sort of longish soooo yeah ^^. I promise I will try to go back to working on these chapters and woot the last manga of Yu Yu Hakusho comes out this month! O.O I'm going to miss it but I'll have the complete series! Woot! So yeah...I'm tired so you must forgive me ^^; I wanted to post this chapter before I headed off to bed and it ended up being the beginning of February O.o Man....can't believe its been that long since I updated ^^; I feel like I let you guys down...however only one person reviewed AGAIN so that was one of the reasons it took so long...AGAIN! So take that as your guys hint haha.

Chapter 43: Race To the Cave

“It went right into our apartment!” Astuko shouted, looking devastated at the place she had called home for the past seven months now had a stream of smoke coming out from it.

“Hey! He's trashed my room!” Yusuke yelled, upset because he had nowhere to sleep and would have to sleep over Kuwabara's house again; but also because he had just cleaned it a few days ago.

However, it all seemed to not matter when realization of something much more important came to mind. You and Kuwabara both realized two people who were not with the rest of the group.

“Botan! Mitarai!” you gasped.

“They're still in there!” Kuwabara screamed.

He looked up at the apartment. It didn't seem to be on fire, however it was trashed; from the smoke pouring out from the hole created from that energy blast.

Yusuke growled as he turned his attention to Sensui. However, Sensui had jumped high into the air and came down, at bone crunching speeds to where Yusuke was now standing. Yusuke escaped, jumping out of harms way and closer to the rest of you. He landed on one knee and stared down with narrow eyes at Sensui.

“Genkai! Koenma! Go help the others!” Yusuke said, keeping his gaze at Sensui.

“Sensui's mine!” Yusuke growled.

“I am, eh? Nice to be wanted.” Sensui smirked.

“SHUT UP! I'M SERIOUS!” Yusuke growled, before dashing straight at Sensui.

You growled and clenched your fists.

“Why that...” you growled, before feeling a hand on your shoulder.

You turned to find Kuwabara looking down at you, just as pissed. You nodded at him and he nodded back.

Yusuke was about to punch Sensui, however he was able to see Sensui was about to deflect his attack, which caught Sensui off guard. Yusuke began to move around Sensui and threw a rapid fire of punches, however, Sensui seemed to be able to dodge them. You, Kurama, and Kuwabara began to follow the two as they headed out of the alley way and towards the main street.

Yusuke threw one more punch however, Sensui was able to deflect it. Yusuke grunted as he was kicked hard in his chest. You gasped seeing that Yusuke's shirt had been torn in the spot Sensui had kicked him and was now starting to bruise.

“Koff! Nice one...” grunted Yusuke as he stayed on his knee.

“Your moves are quite perfunctory. You need to brush up on the basics.” Sensui said, bit of insanity in his eyes.

“They try me!” Kuwabara said, running towards Sensui, who now had his back towards the rest of you.

“Don't forget me!” you snarled, coming up behind Kuwabara.

Kuwabara outstretched his hand ready to take out his new power. You concentrated on taking out both of your boes.

“I'm back! And I'm better than ever!” Kuwabara shouted, feeling the energy begin to build up in his right hand.

'This'll give me a chance to evaluate him.' Sensui thought as he looked at Kuwabara with anticipation.

He had missed this feeling; the feeling of not being so defenseless. You brought out your boes at the same time Kuwabara brought out his spirit sword; however, it was just his normal one.

“Huh?! This looks like my old sword!” Kuwabara said surprised that he wasn't able to take out his new and improved one.

'What gives?!' he thought, thinking it was strange that only the night before he was able to conjuror the newer blade.

'Guess he can't yet summon his new one at will.' Sensui thought.

“Never mind!” Kuwabara growled before continuing his attack, you right behind him.

“HYAHH!” Kuwabara screamed as he jumped into the air and brought his sword down.

However, Sensui had seemed to stop Kuwabara's blade from slicing him down the middle and pushed Kuwabara aside. Your eyes widened, however, you shook it off and jumped up and over Kuwabara before kicking Sensui in his face. He was shocked, not expecting you to attack him; and his hands had been full deflecting Kuwabara's attack. He skidded backwards a bit, however, you didn't leave him time as you swung at him with both of your boes. However, he was able to dodge your attack this time and caught one of your boes in the air right when it was about to hit him on the side of his head. Your eyes widened as he kicked you hard in the side. Your eyes widened as a mix of blood and spit came shooting out of your mouth as you were sent backwards flying right into Kuwabara's already awaiting arms.

He had seen Sensui's attack coming and had made sure he would catch up; if not stop Sensui from hurting you. However, he wasn't fast enough to stop it from happening. The force, of which you were sent backwards, had caused the two of you to land hard on the ground, you on top of Kuwabara.

Kurama narrowed his eyes and rushed forward, taking out his rose whip. Yusuke was beginning to stand up, as he was holding his stomach from his injury.

'Sensui can't be attacked straight on. My rose whip ought to counter his kicks!' Kurama thought.

'We'll make him pay for hurting (YAFN)...' growled Yoko within Kurama's mind.

Kurama narrowed his eyes and inwardly nodded in agreement. However, the screeching of a car turning around the corner had caught his attention, stopping him in mid attack. There was a pick up truck coming straight towards the rest of you. There was a little boy sitting in the drivers seat while, a tall young man hung halfway out of the passenger side window. Kuwabara had sat up at this point with you now sitting in his lap. You looked over your shoulder at the car that was heading straight for you and Kuwabara.

“Rats! New trouble!” Kurama said, jumping out of the way of the fast approaching vehicle.

“Nice timing, gent.” Sensui said with a relieved smile.

Your eyes widened as you saw the pick up truck was at least ten feet away.

“GET OUTTA THE WAY!” you heard Yusuke scream, however, it was too late.

The man sitting half way out of the passenger seat extended his fingers and had them heading right towards the two of you. Kuwabara's eyes widened however, he had enough time to push you off his lap before getting those stretched out fingers to wrap around his body. Your automatic instinct had seemed to kick in and right before Kuwabara was lifted off the ground, you latched onto one of Kuwabara's legs and held on for dear life as the pick up truck continued to move past, Sensui jumping into the back.

“KUWABARA! (YAFN)!” Yusuke shouted, now on his feet and standing next to Kurama.

You shut your eyes tight and just held onto Kuwabara with all of your might. Kuwabara's screams for both himself and for you filled your head. You felt you and Kuwabara both flung into the air. You didn't dare peek out to see what was going on.

“Hey! That's one of Ani Toguro's tricks!” Kurama said.

Yusuke seemed to realize it too and gasped.

“Let us go!” Kuwabara cried as he was in mid air, now upside down.

He could feel you still on his legs, now wrapping your arms around both of his legs. He felt completely bind up.

Kurama growled before cracking his rose whip at the car, trying to cut off those appendages from holding Kuwabara. However, the pick up truck had driven too far out of his reach.

“Two far away!” Kurama growled in frustration.

“Not for me it ain't!” Yusuke growled, pointing his finger at the car before firing a huge blast of energy.

Yusuke stopped and looked at his finger in pure horror and how much of a n idiot he just was.

“ACK! WHAT'VE I DONE?! That was a FULL FOCE blast!” he shouted, in disbelief.

“Full-forced?” Kurama said with wide eyes and a sweat drop, “It'll destroy the truck and both Kuwabara and (YAFN)-chan!”

'Imbecile...' growled Yoko, as he too wasn't able to believe what had just happened.

Kurama mentally nodded in agreement with his inner demon. They were both stunned at how stupid Yusuke could be. Kurama was just too much in shock to even worry about what would happen. However, he did secretly pray that Yusuke would miss his target. It was probably the only time Kurama thought he would ever wish such a thing, as did Yoko.

“IDIOT! IDIOT! IDIOT!” Yusuke growled, poking himself in the middle of his forehead with the finger that could have just blown up his best friend and adopted lil sister into tiny little pieces.

You and Kuwabara were still in the air, as the raging spirit ball came straight towards the pick up truck. You still kept your eyes closed, but you could sense the fierce power of energy coming up on you fast. However, you were also able to sense another powerful energy building up below you.

Sensui formed his own energy blast and kicked it right at Yusuke's blast, which was only a mere five feet away from the moving vehicle. The two powerful blast collided with each other and formed a huge blast of light, which you could feel.

Yusuke looked on anxiously, hoping he just hadn't killed you or Kuwabara however, his eyes widened before they filled with anger.

'He countered my reigun with his little energy sphere?! Can't be! I must not have used full power after all!' Yusuke thought, a bit pissy that this 'old' guy could counter his own attack.

Once the smoke and light had cleared, there was the pick up truck, still in one piece.

Sensui was standing in the back, facing Yusuke's direction. He closed his eyes as he gave Yusuke a 'nanny nanny boo boo' like smile and waved good bye. Yusuke filled with rage as he was now royally pissed off at this guy. How DARE he not only kidnap his best friend and adopted little sister; but he had the nerve the NERVE to taunt him!

“I'll show 'im!” growled Yusuke as he ran over to some bikes that happened to be in the area and grabbed on that wasn't chained up.

“Yusuke! Wait!” Kurama shouted, stunned again by how careless and unreasonable Yusuke was acting, when he needed to use that brain of his to save you and Kuwabara.

However, Kurama was ignored by the pissed off teen.

“Don't be a fool! Come back!”

However, Yusuke was riding that bike like a mad man and following close behind the pick up truck.

You felt yourself FINALLY rest on something solid and let out a sigh of relief. However, you didn't let go of Kuwabara's legs.

“It seems we picked up a stray.”

You blinked open your eyes and peeked out over Kuwabara's knees. There was Sensui sitting next to a growling and pissed looking Kuwabara.

You narrowed your eyes at Sensui and held on tighter to Kuwabara.

“Do ya want me to get rid of her?” said the man with the finger tentacles.

“No. She might have some use.” Sensui said with a slim smile.

You growled, however Kuwabara had beaten you to the punch line.

“You lay a hand on (YFN) and I'll rip you a new one!” Kuwabara growled.

You looked at Kuwabara, he didn't seem to be scared, just more so pissed off. You turned back to Sensui with glaring eyes.

“Whatever you guys have planned, it doesn't matter. Once Yusuke gets you; you are in SOOO much trouble!” you said.

“IF he catches up.” the man with the tentacle appendages said.

You glared at him and in an instant, you had climbed up Kuwabara making him blink at you and blush at what you were doing. However, you looked down at one of the appendages that had kept Kuwabara tied down and bite down hard.

The man screamed in pain, however, it wasn't long before Sensui grabbed you by the back of your neck and pulled you away. Kuwabara's eyes turned red and he struggled in his restraints. You weren't in pain but it did feel uncomfortable and you winched all the same.

“Behave” Sensui said as he looked you dead in your eyes.

You shivered under that glare. It looked like it was a mix of different emotions, however you couldn't pin point what they were. Sensui then smiled at you and let you go. Sensui leaned back against the truck and looked out into the open road.

The man with the tentacle like appendages unwrapped Kuwabara, for only a second before wrapping you and Kuwabara together. You were now sitting between Kuwabara and Sensui.

Kuwabara growled. He didn't like this guy, especially with you sitting next to him and he, Kuwabara; being unable to stop anything that guy could do to you.

By now, the truck had some how made it out of the city and was now on a winding road that was located on the side of a steep mountain. You had just passed the one and only car that was on this narrow strip of highway and it looked like a race car. However, that wasn't' important, what mattered was the situation you were in and you needed to figure out how to get out of it with you and Kuwabara safe and sound.

However, in the distance was hope. There was Yusuke, riding a bike and he too just pasted that same car; only being twenty-five feet behind the truck.

“OUTTA MY WAY!!” Yusuke screamed as he pushed the petal to the metal quite literally.

He screeched around a curve. He was now twenty feet behind you.

“He's following....on a bicycle!” the tentacle man said, surprised. “Should I stop him?”

“Don't bother. We've got what we want, and something more.” Sensui said, never taking his eyes off the determined Yusuke.

Kuwabara growled glancing over at Sensui. He didn't like what this guy had planed and it looked like it was mostly for him. He wished you weren't with him; you would be safer with Yusuke. You growled however you just looked at Yusuke, hoping he wold be safe as he was doing more then the speed limit on this kind of road. Not to mention, you thought his legs might burn out soon by how fast he was going.

“Geeze...he could enter the Tour de France or something...” you mumbled.

Sensui smirked at your comment. He closed his eyes and lowered his head in amusement. Kuwabara sighed. He could tell that you were scared. After knowing you for as long as he had now, he knew when you told jokes when you were scared; and which jokes were just for fun. This one was definitely your 'I'm completely scared shit-less right now!' joke.



Meanwhile back at the apartment....

Kurama knew that he needed to work fast, however he wasn't going to go off like Yusuke had. He knew that he needed to form a plan with the rest of those who were not MIA. Kurama headed up to Yusuke's apartment to see if anyone was hurt and to see what to do next.

People with in the building and around it were starting to check out what had happened. Kurama knew he had to find the group and quickly before questions were asked. However, the sight he found when he entered Yusuke's apartment; or what was left of it anyway, made him stop. He found the apartment trashed. Genkai was healing Botan's back, although she appeared to be alright, just a bit in pain. Koenma glanced over at Kurama as he stood at the entrance of what use to be Yusuke's bedroom.

“No causalities, Kurama.” Koenma said, appearing to be cool and calm.

“Botan wrenched her back a bit.” Genkai added, continuing to heal the deity of death's back.

Kurama bent down to see if he could help. Botan laughed weakly and sweat dropped.

“I collided with a bookcase.” she said.

Kurama glanced over to see 'said' bookcase, which looked heavy and was right behind Mitarai.

“While trying to save me!” the blond said.

Everyone turned to look at him.

“It was falling on me but she shoved me away!”

His blue eyes were filled with concern, worry, and some guilt. Genkai glanced over at the bond haired man, having finished healing Botan's back.

“She's a tough cookie.” Genkai said.

“Yup!” Botan said with a smile and giving Mitarai the peace sign to show him she was fine.

Mitarai's face was full of shock and confusion. He was expecting them to agree with him and blame him for the entire thing.

“Why did you do it?! I'm your enemy if you remember!” he shouted, pointing to himself.

Kurama was now standing up and looking at the young man with a serious yet calculating look. Koenma looked at Mitarai with blinking eyes, as did Genkai and Botan.

“Well now...” Genkai said, looking at Botan to see how she would answer that question.

“How to put this...?” Botan started, thinking about the accident.

“First an explosion...” Botan thought, putting her finger to her cheek as she tried to remember the incident. “Then, that bookcase falling over...”

Botan looked at the bookcase and then looked back at Mitarai with a blank look and a shrug.

“It was reflex, really.”

Mitarai looked at Botan still a bit of confusion on his face. He wasn't able to understand how a perfect stranger would risk their life to save him.

“You see now?” Genkai said, glancing over at the young man.

“Yeah...heh...no need to take what I did so seriously.” Botan laughed and waved her hand in a dismissive motion.

“That's usually how it works.” Kurama said, looking at Mitarai with a serious look, “Don't try to define things only by what you saw in the Black Chapter. It's hardly the whole story. I learned that people react on instinct and it is more natural to help someone rather then harm them. I would've given up being human a long time ago if it didn't work like that.”

Mitarai stared with that same look at Kurama, however it looked as if the words Kurama had said were beginning to sink in.

“However, you should have realized that after meeting Kuwabara-kun and (YAFN)-chan.” Kurama added before turning to the now standing Koenma, Genkai, and Botan.

“Speaking of which, we'd better get out of here. They need our help.” Kurama said before glancing over his shoulder to Mitarai who was just sitting on the floor having the information sink in.

“Take what path you will. However, if you oppose us after this...we won't hold back. There's too much at stake.” Kurama said with a serous lok and voice that showed he wasn't messing around.

Mitarai lowered his head with wide eyes. He knew he had to pick a side and he knew he had a lot to think about.

The group headed out of the building.

“C'mon, let's take the fire exit. I'll explain everything one the way.” Kurama said.

“I'll make up some story for the cops.” Astuko said, having been with the group the entire time.

The mini group nodded and began to head down the steps and out of the building.

“Where's (YAFN)-chan, Yusuke, and Kuwa-chan?” Botan asked as the group headed down the stairs.

Kurama sighed.

“They got Kuwabara and (YAFN)-chan I'm afraid.” Kurama answered.

“I saw, that idiot blew it.” Genkai said, before Kurama could explain where Yusuke went.

Botan blinked at the two, not sure why the bad guys would want you or Kuwabara, however, she figured more information would be given on the way to wherever they were all heading off to.

The group finally exited the building and was heading in the direction of their destination when Mitarai came running up behind them.

“Wait for me!” he shouted.

Kurama and Botan stopped mid step and turned around. They both had warm smiles on their faces, while Genkai glanced back with a small smirk on her lips before closing her eyes and turning back around.

“You bet!” Kurama and Botan said in unison, Kurama holding out his hand towards the young man.

Mitarai's eyes widened in happiness and nodded before joing the side of good and aiding them in the correct direction of where the hide out of Sensui was and where you and Kuwabara would most likely be taken.



The truck hit another bump, causing you to fly a few inches into the air and land hard on your butt for the billionth time. You winced, as you knew your butt couldn't take another bump. However, it seemed that no matter how fast the vehicle went Yusuke was still hot on the heels. It seemed Yusuke was getting faster with every increase of the truck, as if it was really slowing down and not getting faster.

You began to feel hope come back, mixed with the nausea from the rough ride. You could see out of the corner of your eyes, Kuwabara looked anxious but he too had hope in his own eyes as he looked at Yusuke coming straight towards the truck.

“That nut's still with us! He'll follow us all the way to the cave!” said the tentacle man, worry in his face and voice.

“No problem. Hagiri's on the move.” Sensui said with no emotion on his face or in his voice.

You were finding this Sensui guy a bit annoying. His moods seemed to be all over the place. He was emotionless or he was filled with emotions; there was no balance and it was making you nervous. There was something off about this guy and you could tell by the vibe he was sending out.

Yusuke was sweat filled and was only ten feet from reaching the truck.

“I'M GONNA CATCH YA!!” Yusuke growled, as he appeared to actually possibly catch up.

However, there was the sound of a motorcycle from behind. You squinted your eyes as Yusuke glanced behind him. Kuwabara squinted too before his eyes widened. It was the same young man who shot those 'bullets' at Mitarai back at the apartment! He was coming up fast on Yusuke on a motorcycle.

The young man let go of the handles of the motorcycle and shot another 'bullet' out of his hand, right at Yusuke.

“WATCH OUT YUSUKE!” you shouted, however it was too late.

The bullet blew out Yusuke's back tire on the bike. Yusuke's eyes went wide and looked a cross from saying 'wtf' and being a bit peeved, as he couldn't believe half of his bike was just destroyed. He was sent flying into the air. Your eyes widened, as did Kuwabara's as Yusuke did a few flips in the air. However, Yusuke somehow seemed to straighten himself out and turn towards the truck. It seemed that the explosion had helped him as he was now close enough to grab onto the truck; but was it enough was the question. Yusuke outstretched his hand to the edge of the truck. You could feel yourself holding your breath as you prayed silently that Yusuke would be safe and could hang on safely.

Yusuke's hand reached out.

You let out a relieved breath when Yusuke was able to grab onto the edge of the truck! Yusuke seemed to be relieved as well as he brought his other hand to hold on and brought his head up, a grin on his face. However, it vanished as he saw Sensui bring back his leg.

“Bye bye.” Sensui said with a smile and a wave before kicking Yusuke in the face.

“NOOOOOOO!!!” you screamed as you watched in horror at Yusuke's body tumbling backwards and tumbling behind the truck.

“URAMESHI!” Kuwabara screamed, his eyes wide and fear in his brown eyes.

The two of you struggled in your restraints. However, you were both powerless to do anything. You both watched as you moved farther away from the still tumbling teen. However, before Yusuke disappeared out of both of your sights; you found some relief finding Yusuke had stopped tumbling and was sitting up on his knees looking at the truck as it vanished behind the hill.
