Book 6 - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Hinote crouched down on the rock above three of Mukuro’s guards. They were standing vigilant for the most part, looking everywhere but up to where the young part Koorime perched, arrow on string. She looked out the side of her eye and saw her mother also take aim, two poisoned silver arrows aimed for the group. Hinote let her arrow fly, the poison Kurama had mixed and dipped the tips in killing the three demons the two had struck instantly. Hinote’s arrow flew through the skull of the demon directly below her, the tip now projecting out of the animal-like creature’s lower jaw. The other two had hit the two humanoid demons just below the base of the skull, the death blow swift, but painful thanks to the burning poison. The two women jumped down and pulled their arrows free of the bodies, wiping them off on the carcasses.
The duo headed to the place where they were to meet Kurama, Yusuke and Hiei; the three males battle ready. Hiei merely glanced at his daughter and wife as they walked up, nodding to them both as they listened to Yusuke. “Ryu should be in place by now. Hinote, join him on the other side of the canyon as soon as possible. You two will take the group on that side. Wait until you see your parents attack first.”
Hinote nodded, smiling at her soon to be father in law. “I never took you for such a strategist.”
The detective shrugged. “Most of it was Hiei. He convinced me that with Mukuro, you don’t go in without a definite plan.”
Hinote nodded as she jumped into the nearest tree. “That’s my dad. See ya in the field.”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
A few minutes later, Hinote arrived where Ryu was. She found him crouched behind a rock, watching as Mukuro gave orders to her soldiers.
“Hey.”
He looked back at her and smiled, turning his attention back to the female demon they planned to attack. “She knows. She’s been talking about how to destroy fire demons.”
Hinote nodded, placing a hand on his back. “Mom and I got three of her people. Have you seen…?”
Ryu shook his head. “No.”
“Seen who, Hinote?”
The two young detectives turned around to see a small woman with long, straight, ice blue hair. She was dressed in a short top and skirt, both Koorime Blue with yellow trim and black boots up to her knees. She had an amulet on her neck, the shining silver of the metalwork lying flat on her skin. Her face was sinister and her red eyes flashing with insanity. She held her hand out and the pair watched as a snowball formed in her hand, flying at them as soon as it was formed.
“Harime!”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Kurama and Yusuke were engaged in battle with a group of Mukuro’s minions, both Fox and Battle demon covered in the blood of those who they had made fall. The sounds of the wounded and dying filled the air, accompanied by the battle cries from both warriors.
“Yusuke! Watch out.”
The spirit detective turned toward the demon who had tried to attack him, placing a well aimed kick at the offending being’s face, making his nose explode with a howl and mass of blood.
“Stupid ass demon.”
He turned and hit two more with his shotgun, the blasts obliterating the demons in an instant. He spun around, landing a kick in the side of a small, horned demons head. His heel met with the demons chin, sending him flying back near Kurama, his whip removing the demons head cleanly.
Both demons watched as the few remaining demons ran of, trying to regroup about a hundred yards away. They both stood firm, Yusuke looking to Kurama. The Fox nodded and watched as Yusuke took aim at the small group and released his spirit energy, blasting the rogue demons into oblivion.
Yusuke looked up from the carnage, turning to Kurama. “We need to help Hiei and Amaya.” Kurama didn’t respond as he watched in the direction of the fight between Mukuro and his other teammates. Yusuke stood and watched the scene before him, the only thing he could do, watching in silence.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Mukuro stood on a rock near the middle of the encampment, surrounded by seven of her guard. She smirked as both Hiei and Amaya ran up to them, battle ready.
“Come to play Hiei-koi?”
“I am not your love.”
Amaya seethed and flew toward the woman, sword in hand, water swirling around it. She came at Mukuro, moving to strike the other female with a killing blow. Just as quickly, Mukuro blocked the small mo-zaku with her own energy.
Hiei moved to attack but was blocked by the seven guards, driven slightly back as Amaya moved forward to deal with the female before her.
The hiyoukai stayed behind by force, battling the demons before him as Amaya took off after Mukuro. He lost sight of her as he sliced at the few demons left before him, taking them quickly with a few swipes with his sword. He moved quickly through the group, taking the small faction out with a minimum of effort. He moved to follow his wife through the crowd, determined to help her destroy the demon who had made their lives a living hell. As he approached, she held her hand up, staring down the demon before her.
“Die, bitch. Return to hell. I am sure Enma will take good care of you.”
Mukuro moved away from the water demon, the slightest touch of Amaya’s hand swiftly removing the water from that part of her body. The mo-zaku moved quickly away from the other female, intent on her death.
“I will take care of you. You will feel the sting of death, Mukuro, Former Lord of the Makai. Consider yourself dead.”
She drew her bow and pulled an arrow from her quiver, the poison from Kurama, dripping on the tip.
“Give my regards to the Toddler.”
She let her arrow fly at the other female, her aim true. Yet at that instant, Mukuro sent a blast toward her, the energy destroying the arrow completely. Amaya attempted to move away from the discharge but only ran into it, the flash hitting her in the side, knocking her to the ground. The water demon had turned in midair, landing on her back. She got up, turning her head to where Hiei could not see her face, but could smell her blood in the air.
Amaya sat up, leaning forward to cough, blood coming out of her mouth and nose. Hiei saw the crimson liquid running out of the side of her mouth and moved forward, heading for his wife, he feet moving as fast as they could carry him. She stood weakly, blood steaming both from her mouth and from the open wound in her side.
“Bring it on, Bitch”
The mo-zaku sent out a blast, her cry sounding in every inch of the canyon. She moved forward at a dead run, slamming her hand into her opponent. The water seeped from the older demon, slowing her down, Amaya attempting to destroy her through instant mummification.
“I think you will say hello to that runt boy you work for before me, Saikoubai.”
Hiei could only watch as his mate fell from Mukuro’s blast to her side, knocking her completely down, Amaya’s hand falling away from the elder apparition. The hiyoukai finally realized what happened as his wife fell, her body prone near where Mukuro stood.
Amaya heaved herself up on her hands and knees, blood still pouring from her nose and mouth. She coughed up more blood, the puddle of dark fluid pooling beneath her. Hiei watched her movements and took off for her, trying to help her, but instead stopped short a short distance away, an invisible, yet solid energy field preventing him from getting to her.
“NO. LET ME IN! AMAYA!”
Mukuro began laughing at Hiei in his distress as something tangible rose from the body on the ground. Hiei watched helplessly, the two hiru stones on his cheeks falling to the ground as he watched millions of shining droplets come from his mate’s back, the jewel-like droplets joining in the form of large dragon-like wings.
As they formed, she stood, her hair falling around her face as it fell from the leather straps that tied and held it back. Her hands were down at her sides and she did not look up, either at Mukuro or Hiei. As she stood to her full height, the wings that now grew from her back stretched to their full wingspan. As they expanded from her back, they burst; the water droplets never falling to the ground.
As Hiei watched this, his Jagan fell open, the eye surprised at the power that surrounded him. Amaya’s demonic energy was running completely away, but was still definitely under her control. Mukuro also sensed the power surging through her opponent as Amaya’s clothing changed, her battle clothes turning into a sheer wrap, the sparking blue water draped around her, sari-like. Her hair, unmoving in the wind, kept her face hidden.
Hiei watched avidly, his eyes wide with shock and harsh realization. He did not understand what was happening, but could sense the rise in power level. He knew if Amaya lost control now, only he would be able to get close and he might have to do the unthinkable. Off to the right, Hiei caught the formation of water droplets that came to together, forming the shape of a small woman. He fully turned his head to watch as the likeness of Amaya walked toward him, her eyes seeming to stare into his.
The doll walked up to the hiyoukai and smiled lightly, placing a hand on his cheek. Hiei felt an enormous sense of peace and calm through his whole being, closing his eyes at the emotions that ran though him as the cool, wet hand touched him. He looked up, placing his hand on the doll, leaning into the touch of her hand. As he did this, the hand and figure it was attached to shattered into a million drops of water, covering Hiei and the area around him completely.
Mukuro watched his silent exchange as she smiled; walking toward Amaya’s seemingly weakened physical form. “Don’t worry Amaya, Hiei will not be harmed. When you are gone, and he realizes my potential as his true mate, He will come back and be taken care of. You are not worthy of him, lower than the mud on his boots. Today will be your death day, Saikoubai.”
With these words, Amaya looked up, her eyes almost pure Cayman blue. As she looked toward Mukuro, she raised her arms up, with her hand in front of her breasts, palms out. The droplets from her dragon-like wings, gathered into a sphere in front of her. Her face was emotionless as she stood; her body completely motionless.
Mukuro, sensing nothing, scowled at the water demon’s lack of initiative. “Time to die, bitch demon.”
The former demon-lord threw an energy blast at her opponent, aiming true for Amaya’s heart. As the blast came closer, it exploded in a thousand bursts of light, exploding in so many directions that neither Hiei nor Mukuro could see whether nor not Amaya was still standing. As the flash cleared out, Amaya walked forward through the smoke, eyes just as cold as before.
The water demon still held her hands out, eyes intent on her target. She threw her hands forward, pushing the sphere of water away from her body. As it flew, she spoke, her voice soft and clear.
“Tsunami Dragon Scream”
As the words fell from her lips, the water flattened and spread out; seemingly too thin to hold anything. As it approached Mukuro, a large reptilian form emerged from the water. The large blue creature emerged, sharp teeth, claws and eyes, shining with water.
“Destroying you will be one of the greatest joys of my life.”
The dragon flew toward Mukuro, the former demon lord unable to move due to confusion. As the form came forward, the soundroaring and a jet of water came from the angry form’s mouth. The demon lord screamed silently as it hit her face, the water causing her incredible agony as her physical form instantly exploded, the water in her cells rushing out at once.
Amaya stood before the liquid remains of Mukuro, her form clean of debris, but the ground around her covered in watered down entrails.
The water dragon, still floating around after the attack, turned back to Amaya, reaching its head to her. The water demon smiled weakly and placed her hand out to the creature, patting its head. After a few seconds, it exploded into millions of floating water droplets. At that, the invisible barrier that kept Hiei away fell, the fire demon barely aware of its destruction. She turned to look at him, her eyes still clear blue. Before he could move to run to her, he recognized the changes to not only her power, but her body. She was leaner, her eyes brightest blue, and her hair had lengthened at least a foot.
She blinked, her eyes changing back to bright green. She stared at her husband for a few seconds, her legs shaking as she watched him.
“Hiei…”
With that word, she began to fall, her body weakened and legs falling out from beneath her. As she fell, Hiei flashed to her, grabbing her before she fell onto the piles of warm liquid flesh on the ground.
AS he held her semi-conscience form in his arms, he spoke to her within her mind, assuring her of her safety.
*~It’s ok, you’re safe now.~*
As he felt her mind wander toward sleep, Kurama ran up, Yusuke following close behind. They watched as Hiei carried Amaya lover to a nearby tree and sat, holding her close as he watched them approach.
“Yusuke, find Hinote and Ryu.”
Yusuke scowled. “What about Amaya?”
Hiei looked down, holding his mate ever tighter. “Find my daughter, so I can take my wife home.”
