A/N: I know I told you guys I wouldn't be able to post for an entire month because of my brother being home. Well, I felt bad for leaving you all with that evil cliffy. Plus I've been on a writing spree! I've already gotten to chapter 46! I have two more chapters after that to write and then this 'season' will be complete! Then the REAL fun will begin!

Now I guess this and the next chapter *which I will be posting today as well* will both be you guys, my readers/fans/reviewers Christmas gift ^_^.

But before I continue let me respond to some reviewers ^^.

Lol, I kept thinking of Yusuke's comment during the chapter about how some important question had been answered: boxers or briefs. I haven't read the entire manga but I've seen the episodes on TV/online so there's nothing too surprising just yet. Still a good story and I hope to see another excellent chapter soon.

I know!! I just love that ^^. I always knew Kuwa-chan was a boxers man hehe even before that scene. There isn't much different between the manga and the anime, except some things in the first manga and stuff in the last. Yusuke had more things happen to him while he was a spirit floating. He was dead for a month and a half really. And he died around Christmas time, because in the manga they had a Christmas story. I've been trying to caculate a timeline and it looks like Yusuke, according to my timeline that is, was born in the summer time, possibly at the end of July or beginning of August. He's a Leo ^_^. Also since it was taking place in 1990, he was born in 1976, which turns out to be the year of the...I forget at the moment hahaha ^^; I'm so horrible, I got a book for all that stuff because that is like one of my favorite hobbies but my mom is borrowing it ^^; I'm happy you are still enjoying my story and I hope you like this and the next chatper!

I have been having a great time with my family ^^. Yes...they are ^^; On Friday we got this blizzard...now everyone knows I live on the Eastern Coast of the USA hahaha, New Jersey to be exact...won't say where *sticks tongue out* Anyway, we got like 8inches but because of the snow drift, it was like 2 feet in some areas. It took me TWO hours to shovel the front walkway, side walk, the walkway that lead to the driveway and 2/3 of the driveway. My mom had to force me to stop. My brother had been sleeping the entire time, and he had a friend over so it wasn't until I was almost done, that the two came out to 'help' me. I stopped when they came out. It took them not even 10 minutes to finish what I didn't do. So yes...annoying haha. Well, look no further here is an update! Oh? Well expect another update around your birthday then! My brother's is Jan 5, so it will be close to his too haha. Enjoy this and the next chapter!

And I told you [actually I flipped out...] That I had read it! I was so amazed that I was meeting a fanfiction author that I admired so much! Omg! I love this story to death!! You are such a great writer!I cant wait till you update, Ive been reading this everyday scene Ive discovered it. Yusuke and Kuwababra have always been my favorite characters of yu yu hakusho! Im happy to see that someone else loves the anime as much as I do. Pleas keep updating, Ill always be here to read youre story!

I'm sooo happy to hear that ^^. Awwwww -^.^- thank you. Well, it wasn't as long as I had originally planned. I planned it to be a longer wait, but I found some time to actually post! That's cool ^^. They are the best characters! I love them to death....more so as a couple but still hahaha. Oh yes, I've been an anime fan for a very long time. Since I was 10. I didn't get into anime seriously until I was in 7th grade. I was good friends with this girl who was Asian, not sure if she was Japanese or Chinese so I'll stick with Asian instead of guessing. Anyway, she would tell about all these animes she owned, most of which were not released in America yet and were fan subbed and imported from Japan. She let me borrow a lot of them, one was Magic Knight Rayearth, the first season. I watched that anime in Japanese with English subs. I now own both seasons in both English and in Japanese with English subs...I watch it in Japanese haha. I will totally keep updating this. Awww well I'm flattered that you will be here to read it!

HAhahaha....welll....in the next 'season' which is the last...there WILL be something juicy...a few juicy and maybe some citrus....hehehe but that's all yer gettin outta me! You won't get anything else! Don't feel too bad about the English grammar. I suck at it too. I just go back through my chapters with the help of Microsoft Word hehe ^^. So I hope you enjoy this chapter and the next!

Anyway, I hope but then I will have at least started the next 'season', which will be completely about you and Kuwabara...that's your only hint guys. Also, if you notice, my writing style for this story has changed a bit from when I first started. I'm trying to transition you guys into the next season, which will be very different from what you've read in this story so far. I have so many things I want to do for it and i already wrote the ending...yes, the last chapter is actually written out O.o Hahaha. Soooo you won't have to worry about me not ending this, because obviously it will end haha. So Enjoy this chapter as well as the next and please review so when I post the next chapter I have more responses for you guys. Also, you can always ask questions or what not. I might give a spoiler or two ^_~. I love spoilers...okay anyway, on with the chapter!


Ch. 40: The Truth Is Revealed!

Back at Yusuke’s apartment at the same moment Yusuke had returned home to find a pissed off Genkai.

“You imbecile!!” Genkai growled as she punched Yusuke so hard that he went flying back out of his apartment and only stopping when he hit the railing of the apartment’s walkway.

“Knock it off! What’s with you?!” shouted a pissed off Yusuke from his spot on the floor.

Genkai stood in the doorway of his apartment looking just as pissed.

“Didn’t you go help Kuwabara?!”

“I said I was gonna play pachinko!” Yusuke said as he stood up, his voice holding a ‘duh’ like tone to it.

“And yet I’d hoped…” Genkai said with an annoyed yet disappointed look.

“Listen! His aura’s proscribed right now! He’s all but defenseless! Even if he does have (YAFN)-chan, her aura’s not enough to fend off any serious attack!”

“It’s HIS fault! He coulda stayed with us, but instead he went off to a stupid concert! Besides, he won’t let anything bad happen to (YAFN). And on top of that, what does the enemy care about a guy with no aura or a girl who for all they know is just a normal girl.” Yusuke said, sitting back down with a grumpy look on his face.

“Idiot! He still has it, it’s just dampened down! And if they know all about you, why wouldn’t they know about (YAFN)-chan and her abilities?!”

Yusuke’s eyes widened as he blinked at his old master. He didn’t seem to understand what Genkai was telling him. She sighed.

“You don’t notice anything when you’re not fighting, do you? Well, try to notice Kuwabara’s chi next time you set eyes on him. You’ll get a curious sense of anticipation, as if you were watching an egg about to hatch. Maybe then you’ll realize you’re not the only one achieving new levels of ability.”

It seemed to finally dawn on Yusuke as his face was realizing that maybe he should have gone with you and Kuwabara, maybe even waited to walk you home after the concert.

“If you see him again, that is. The enemy may have other ideas. And with (YAFN)-chan there with him, they could use her to get to him.” Genkai added.

Yusuke’s eyes widened even more; fear for his best friend and for you sinking in at an alarming rate. He stands up.

“Now you tell me! I’m off!”

He began to dash towards the stairs to go find you and Kuwabara. Botan, who had heard the whole commotion, ran after Yusuke.

“Hey! Wait for me!” she shouted, knowing that if you were hurt then she would be needed with her healing powers.

Back with you…

Kuwabara stood out of breath and his clothes tattered and blood covered. His entire body was riddled with bruises and cuts. He didn’t seem to let the water creatures take him out, not without a fight.

“Let them…go you…scum…” breathed Kuwabara.

Mitarai’s face filled with aggravation and anger. It appeared that his plan to prove that Kuwabara wasn’t as courageous as he thought he was; however, it was appearing true the longer the fight continued. Kuwabara’s mind was focused on saving you and his friends and it seemed no amount of beatings would keep him from that goal.

“Why? They’re ordinary humans. They’re beneath us! As for the girl, she is weak even with her abilities.” Mitarai growled.

“S-says…you…” you gasp out.

You were beginning to feel a bit light headed at the limited amount of oxygen that was going into your lungs. You could sense the rest of the group was starting to struggle less as they too were beginning to feel the lack of oxygen as well as grow tired.

“Kuwabara…how ‘bout…we skip karaoke tonight? Maybe…take (YAFN)-chan…with ya?” Kirishima said with his struggling words.

In short, he was telling Kuwabara to save him self as well as you; and to forget about him and the rest of the group. You would have given Kirishima a touched look if you weren’t fighting for air.

“Its…no fun with…without you guys there…” you struggled out, trying to let them know that you wouldn’t leave them behind even if Kuwabara did somehow figure out away to save just you.

Kuwabara snorted out a laugh.

“Just sit tight. I’ll get you ALL out of this mess!” said the tired Kuwabara however his face looked as if he would back up those words.

Mitarai looked pissed off.

“I’m sick of your tough-guy act!” Mitarai said before snapping his fingers. “Time to finish this!”

You gasped as some of the chokehold loosened up a bit however; you found yourself and the rest of the guys being pulled into the water creature. Your eyes widened in fear.

“Crap!” you whispered.

“It’s sucking us in!” shouted Kirishima beginning to struggle even more now.

Sawamura and Okubo began to struggle again in the creature’s grasp, some how finding some energy to try and save themselves from drowning. You too were struggling however; it was to no use as you were all now sucked into the water creature. You covered your mouth and your nose, trying to keep any air you had left in your lungs. You looked over to the other guys, seeing the air bubbles that escaped from their open mouths. You clamped one hand over Kirishima’s mouth and your other over Sawamura’s mouth. Kirishima seemed to see what you were trying to do and covered Okubo’s mouth.

If you guys held your breath for as long as you could, you just might have a chance until Kuwabara was able to save you three. You closed your eyes and did the only thing you could think of.

“Just relax guys,” you told the three telepathically, which stunned them, as they never knew you had such a power, “the more we struggle the more air we use up. We can’t let ourselves pass out now; or die. Not in front of Kuwabara. He’ll get us out of this, we just gotta hold on for as long as we can.”

They got over their shock and seemed to listen to you as they stopped struggling and relaxed just a bit. However, even with the lack of movement, you all could feel your throats starting to hurt and burn wanting fresh air.

“Hurry Kuwabara please…” you thought, sending your thought to Kuwabara.

Kuwabara stared at you all with fear in his eyes before growling and growing furious. He heard your plea and wouldn’t let you down, or his friends. He wouldn’t ever let those that he loved down, not if had anything to do with it.

“It seems they’re smart enough to not struggle,” laughed Mitarai, “but that won’t help them for much longer! Who’ll drown first, d’ya think?! My moneys on the girl.”

“That’s it!” screamed Kuwabara as he brought back his fist and ran straight towards Mitarai, avoiding the monster’s arms.

However, he forgot that the creature had a tail.

“It caught me!” Kuwabara shouted before being sucked into the creature.

Mitarai laughed.

“Right by its tail! Now you can drown with your friends!”

Kuwabara glared at the laughing Mitarai from his watery prison. He mentally growled.

“No way!!” he shouted in his mind before being to punch at the watery wall that surrounded him.

When nothing happened, Kuwabara’s face turned to shocked and yet frustrated at the same time.

“Don’t bother,” Mitarai said, pointing at Kuwabara who put his hands up against the wall of the water as Mitarai had his face close to Kuwabara’s. “You’re inside my territory. You can’t escape with brute force or anything else! The only way is to take me out! But that ain’t gonna happen from inside there, is it?! You’re hopelessly trapped!! Thought you’d play the hero didn’t you! Well take your so-called bravery and shove it up your ego!” laughed Mitarai with a sadistic look and laugh.

You could feel yourself starting to loose consciousness as you let a few bubbles escape your lips. Your hands began to weaken around Sawamura and Kirishima. They were struggling as well as Okubo. If nothing was done soon, the four of you would pass out from the lack of oxygen before drowning in this water creature. Your eyes began to slowly shut as your hands began to loose their strength.

Kirishima grabbed your hand and removed it from his mouth before covering your mouth with both of his hands. Okubo was covering his own mouth, as was Sawamura. It seemed to help however, you felt as if you were going to explode if you held your breath for a moment longer. You began to struggle, which you knew wasn’t going to help however; the burning feeling within your chest from the lack of oxygen was making you squirm.

Kirishima tried to keep you calm, however panic was beginning to settle into you as your eyes widened as you could feel yourself needing to force yourself from passing out. You looked at Kuwabara dead in his eyes with your scared eyes. Kuwabara’s eyes widened as he saw the fear that crossed your eyes as well as your face, which was half covered by Kirishima’s hands. However, the rest of the gang seemed to start to feel the same thing you were and didn’t look like they could hold in their breath in any longer.

Kuwabara watched as your eyes began to glass over as it looked as if you were starting to loose the battle of trying to keep yourself from passing out.

Kuwabara growled in his mind before turning back towards the water wall with a surge of power. The image of your slowly dying eyes as well as the loosing battle his three friends were showing on their faces; these were the motivation to bring out his locked up power.

“I gotta get them outta here. If I’m this lame, I should die…but not my buddies and certainly not (YAFN)-chan!” Kuwabara thought.

He closed his eyes and clenched his fists. Kuwabara focused his energy on his hands as a final attempt to bring forth his spirit sword.

Mitarai laughed as he witnessed what he thought Kuwabara giving up.

“Finally! You’ve realized it’s useless! So go ahead, drown already!”

However, his laughter and taunting was stopped as he saw something glowing in Kuwabara’s hands. Sparks seemed to be coming from the object that was taking shape in his hands. It appeared to be a sword.

“What the…” he said before snorting. “He can’t think that silly sword of his can cut through my barrier, does he?” Mitarai said aloud.

However, Kuwabara brought up his sword, which had a golden glow to it. His eyes opened as he screamed in side the water creature, bubbles being the only thing coming from his mouth as he brought down the sword.

Mitari’s eyes widened as he watched the sword slice right through his creature and seemed to pulse in waves out towards him. The waves of spirit energy sliced him across his chest, blood gusting out from the wound. It wasn’t deep enough to kill him, but it was just enough to get Kuwabara and his friends plus you; out of Mitari’s creature. His eyes widened as he put his hand to his chest and looking at his blood.

“He did it…he…tore through my territory.” he said, his eyes widening even further.

“Could it…could it be he’s…” Mitari said, swaying on his feet as his vision blurred. “The one we’re looking for?! You are…the one w-we need…the man who can split dimensions!” he said before falling hard onto the ground.

Air flooded into your lungs as the creature that had held you busted open as if it was one of those water filled balloons that was popped. Kuwabara’s sword disappeared after he landed on his feet. He took in a few breaths before looking down at his hands where the new sword he had created had been. He couldn’t believe the power he had held in his hand and could even feel pulsing through his fingers. His hands still felt tingly from the feeling. He turned his attention to the struggling form that was lying on the ground a few feet in front of him.

“So…now…I die?” Mitarai thought before looking up at what appeared to be a pissed looking Kuwabara.

He grunted and slightly growled in frustration as he could see the angel of death standing right in front of him and there wasn’t a damn thing he could do about it.

“You little creep…” Kuwabara growled as he looked down at the seriously injured blond young man.

“Thinkin’ you had me. Well, brace yourself—and die!!” Kuwabara shouted, bringing down his fist.

However, instead of finishing off Mitarai, he grabbed firmly yet gently onto Mitarai’s wrist before pulling the injured man so he was resting against Kuwabara; his arm pulled over Kuwabara’s shoulder to give Kuwabara more leverage to pick up the light young man.

“Hmph! I wish.” Kuwabara snorted, referring to killing Mitarai.

Mitarai looked surprised and confused as he looked at the man he had just tried to kill along with his friends.

“Wh-what’re you doing?” he asked.

“Saving your life. Now shut up…” Kuwabara grunted.

He dragged Mitarai over to where his three friends lay as well as you.

“Hey.” He said when he reached you.

You slowly began to stir before you shook your head and began to cough out some water that seemed to make it into your lungs. You groaned as you felt as if a bus hit you. Kuwabara let out a sigh of relief as he saw you appeared to be fine, however the rest of his gang didn’t appear to be in such good shape. They all appeared to be out for the count. He grunted as he somehow tossed Okubo onto his back while still half carrying Mitarai. He then wrapped his arm around Sawamura’s neck but not killing him as he grabbed Kirishima by his arm.

You were now on your knees trying to get your thoughts together, as well as your well-needed air.

“I don’t think I can carry you too, (YAFN)-chan.” Kuwabara said, worry and concern in his face as well as his voice.

You looked at him and gave him a smile.

“It’s okay. I think I’ll be okay to walk…” you then looked at how Kuwabara was going to carry Mitarai and Kuwabara’s three friends and sweat dropped.

It looked like Kuwabara might have needed some help. You stood up, a bit shaky on your feet, however you were able to steady yourself. You looked at Mitarai for a few moments with a serious face, however you could sense that the young man wasn’t evil, that he was more so an innocent young man who was very confused about who was the good guy here.

“I can carry Kirishima or even Sawamura.” You said thinking that maybe Sawamura might need to be carried as he was in a chokehold from Kuwabara not having enough hands.

“You need to rest (YAFN)-chan, I can handle it.” Grunted Kuwabara who appeared as if he was barely able to carry the weight he had; which most likely he couldn’t.

“I’m not doubting that…I’m just worried you might be killing Sawamura.” You said with a sweat drop and a small chuckle.

Kuwabara looked at you for a moment before looking at the knocked out man that was tucked under his arm in a chokehold.

“Oh…” he said before giving you a side ways grin and letting go of Sawamura who was still knocked out.

You smiled and decided that you should carry him piggyback style. You looked down at Kuwabara who now was able to carry Kirishima in a less ‘arm popping’ position, holding him the same way he had Mitarai.

You looked at Mitarai and nodded at him, he looked at you; even more confused as to why you weren’t yelling at him or telling Kuwabara to forget about him and leave him for dead.

“I…I just tried to kill you, both of you!” Mitarai said as Kuwabara began his long haul back to Yusuke’s apartment, you in tow.

“I’m well aware of that. But I want you alive to tell us about your friends.” Kuwabara said glancing at Mitarai before trudging along a bit more.

“And I want to know why you’re doing this, why you want to destroy the human world!” Kuwabara added.

“Besides,” you started, “you’d catch a cold if you stay out in the rain for too long. Even if you have the power to make creatures with the water it still doesn’t mean you won’t get sick.”

You really couldn’t hate the guy. Sure. He really did try to kill you. And sure, he appeared to be sadistic the entire time he was trying to kill you all. However, the way he looked after Kuwabara defeated him, it all disappeared from his face and his being. Mitarai appeared to be suffering and extremely confused. You felt as if he needed someone to protect him and to show him not everyone is bad.
