Scene 4
Scene 4 ------------- The Next Morning
* As Hiei wakes up he recalls everything that took place throughout the night. When he can move he raises up on his hands and knees to look down at Loreen. Sarista notices him jerk up onto his knees to look around and goes over to give him his cloak. His reaction wakes Loreen beneath him. Thinking that he’s angered she rolls and tries to crawl away. Hiei relaxes and stops her to whisper against her ear a moment.
Hiei(Whispered)- Did I hurt you?
* Loreen quickly shakes her head, allows Hiei to kiss her deeply, then he lets her go so she can go take care of her son. Hiei sits back more comfortably, but avoids Sarista’s eyes as he throws his cloak on. This puzzles her.
Sarista- Your instincts were in full control last night. You wouldn’t have hurt us.
* He looks toward Lily who is sleeping next to him.
Hiei- I shouldn’t have let myself..
* Sarista makes him look toward her again.
Sarista- You have guard males that you can rely on.. Well, mostly.
* She glances toward the fallen tree, but Hiei don’t get her hint at this time. Hiei looks back toward Loreen.
Hiei(Quietly)- I would’ve never thought she’d ever.. come to me willingly.
* Sarista glances toward Loreen.
Sarista- You’ve claimed her.. She had every right to approach you.
Hiei- Hn. It’s a long story.
* The Koorime stands.
Hiei- Tell them all to get their babies fed or whatever, we have to get moving.
* Sarista looks back up at him.
Sarista- Hiei,..
Hiei- I know. I’ll move slower.
* Sarista nods and stands to move away. Hiei leans to shake Lily gently then moves away to begin patrolling the perimeter. Minoro glances up when Hiei reaches his position.
Minoro- Morning, Master. Glad to see that you’re more relaxed this morning.
* Hiei pauses to stare at his gelded subordinate until Minoro lowers his eyes. The Koorime gives him a gentle cuff.
Hiei- Don’t be so jealous, ‘Noro. I’ll have to punish you.
* Minoro relaxes and snorts.
Minoro- Hn. Is that a promise?
* Hiei shakes his head, leans to give Minoro a deep, but brief kiss, then continues his patrol until he comes to the fallen tree. He stops and is about to ask why this whole section was left unguarded when Dagon and Kumataro sense him and sit up quickly. For a couple moments Hiei just stares at the naked couple. Then he shakes his head.
Hiei- Get dressed, you bakas. We’ll be moving out as soon as the babies are all taken care of.
* Hiei shakes his head again as he moves away. Dagon and Kumataro look at each other sighing their relief, then they scramble to begin gathering up their clothes. Hiei glances back toward them when they begin arguing over who’s shirt is who’s, then continues over to Habataro.
Hiei- No trouble last night?
Habataro- Nope, Boss.. The only things stirring around here last night were you and them.
Hiei- Hn. They’re d--- lucky.
Habataro- Kuma would have felt something coming a couple miles away.
Hiei- I know.. Dagon’s no slouch, either. That’s why I’ll be having them accompany us to that official ceremony fiasco.
Habataro- They’ll be thrilled to hear that.
* Hiei leans against the boulder beside Habataro. The elder Lynx looks at him.
Hiei- Those two do deserve each other, don’t they?
* Hab nods.
Habataro- They’ll be even more thrilled to know that you approve of them hitching up.
Hiei- I have no problems with it.
* Hiei looks back up at Habataro. He feels his desire to pin the Lynx against the boulder, but shakes his head. Habataro senses his Alpha’s struggle to contain his dominant urges and gently eases him around to face him.
Habataro- You know that these.. feelings you’ve been having are normal.
Hiei- Hab,..
Habataro- It’s because you’re stronger. It’ll take a while for you to adjust, but you have to accept your own changes.
Hiei- I have a pack out here in the middle of this d--- territory to be more concerned about than my..
* Habataro silences Hiei’s rant by leaning to capture his mouth tentatively. The Koorime freezes a moment, then slowly closes his eyes with a growl and gives in. He temporarily loses himself in his dominance over the Lynx until he can finally regain control and work back. He places one of his hands on Hab’s chest as he catches his breath. He then nods and half glances back up at the Lynx.
Hiei- Let’s move some more before I get distracted again.
Habataro- We can only go as far as your Mare can go.
* Hiei nods, looks toward Chevaux, then gives a short whistle and starts off. He goes a few feet before pausing to scratch his head at what he just did. Habataro chuckles as he comes up beside Hiei to nudge his shoulder.
Habataro- Just relax and go with it, Boss. You’re learning.
* Hiei watches his pack move off past him a couple moments. ‘No, not just a pack.. They’re my family’. This thought makes the Koorime look around nervously, opening his jagan to scan the area again. He keeps his third eye open as he quickly blinks back to the fore, reclaiming his rightful place ahead of them.
