Scene 4
Scene 4 -------- Habataro's Village
* The three brothers are working in Kumataro's garden when they feel Hiei's presence approaching from the plant barrier. Habataro and Coutaro let their tools fall aside, but Kumataro looks at them.
Kumataro- He's following the river.. Going toward my barrier.
Coutaro- Is he just patrolling or..?
* Coutaro concentrates his senses outward a couple moments, then shakes his head.
Coutaro- He's going to scout out Dagon.
Kumataro- Hai.. So that's the weak signal I feel not far away.
Habataro- Let's go.
* Kumataro drops his shovel and follows his brothers away. Since Hiei's not really masking himself it's easy for the three of them to locate him. He is standing just inside the main barrier, real eyes closed, and scanning the meadow with his unwarded jagan. He is about to concentrate a bit harder on the two entwined bodies when he feels the Lynx demons approaching. He closes his jagan, pulls the ward back down over it, and turns to look toward them.
Habataro- He's in the meadow.
Hiei- Hn.. I sent word for him to stay there until I'm ready to meet him.
Coutaro- How long will that be?
Hiei- I'm going to give him a day or so to see how well he follows orders.
* Habataro motions toward the barrier.
Habataro- Kuma can strengthen the barrier so that it won't allow anything through.
* Hiei tilts his head.
Hiei- Isn't that what it's supposed to be doing already?
Kumataro- Right now it's just at Alert strength.
Coutaro- That means no demons under our own Classing can see through it and it'll alert us if something does stumble through and where.
Habataro- Then the intruder is located and dealt with.
* Hiei turns and moves through the barrier. He feels nothing and turns to scowl back at the brothers that he can see clearly. He then masks his energy and walks back toward them. This time he feels the tingling sensation flow over him as he passes through it. He looks at Kumataro who nods.
Kumataro- I felt ya and found ya.. So how should I deal with you now?
* For a moment Hiei's eyes unfocus as his imagination trails away on the suggestive question. Habataro and Coutaro both look at their brother. Hiei gathers himself, shakes his head to clear it, then starts back toward his ravine.
Hiei- Don't start something you can't handle, Cat.
Kumataro- Sir,.. wait.
* Hiei stops. Kuma glances toward Hab, then Cou, then looks back at Hiei.
Kumataro- Can we.. talk? - Privately?
* Hiei shakes his head and starts walking again.
Kumataro- Sir, please.. I'm not a coward.
* Now the Koorime stops and turns to look up at him.
Hiei- Did somebody make such an accusation?
Kumataro- No, but..
Hiei- I told you..
Kumataro- I heard what you said.
Hiei- You're not ready.
Kumataro- Scan me with that third eye of yours.
* Hiei blinks up at the Lynx.
Kumataro- I dare you.. I wouldn't ask if I weren't serious.
* Hiei studies Kuma for several moments.
Hiei- Hn. So you wish to talk.. Fine. Come with me.
* Habataro touches Kuma's arm supportively. The younger Lynx nods reassuringly at both his brothers, then hurries off to catch up with Hiei. He soon realizes that they are heading for his hut, grins mischieviously to himself, then bumps his hip against Hiei with a playful growl and takes off. Hiei pauses, glances back toward the other two who are hiding their amusement, then shakes his head and blinks away.
