Thanks for the great reviews, guys! I can't promise that everything will be roses on Yusuke and Kurama's journey. You'll just have to read and enjoy the ride. Hopefully. ;o)

Scene 4 --------------- The Next Day
* Hiei leads Trinka and Troiyoku back into the main camp where the rest of the pack are. He stops and watches the siblings hurry to greet the others and tell them the good news of their pregnancies. As they are congratulated by the others Sarista notices Hiei keeping himself away from the activity. She excuses herself and goes over closer to face him. She can tell by looking at Hiei that he is exhausted. As custom dictates, she waits for him to recognize her. Hiei's senses are somewhat slowed so it is a few moments before he lifts his crimson eyes to look at her.
Hiei- Woman?
Sarista- You need to rest.
Hiei- Hn.. No s---.
* Sarista reaches for his hand. Hiei blinks at it a moment, then allows her to lead him into the main cave.
Sarista- You've brought much joy to us.
* Hiei grunts as he slumps to sit on the thick bed of furs in her alcove.
Hiei- There's a sentence I never heard about me before.
Sarista- There will be many children in our camp this summer.
* Hiei half glances up at her.
Sarista- It's been a few years since so many of us have known this pleasure.
* Hiei places his face in a palm as Sarista moves to the spring bucket.
Hiei- Do you really think having all those.. brats around will be fun?
* Sarista returns and Hiei wearily accepts the cup. Sarista then brushes her fingers through his dissheveled spikes.
Sarista- You're just exhausted. Relax, Hiei. The boys will keep watch tonight.
* Sarista settles down to sit beside him. Hiei nods as he sips at the cool water.
Hiei- Th-that is what I.. trained them to do.. Do I got all of you knocked up now?
* Sarista tilts her head thoughtfully a moment, then nods with a smile.
Sarista- Yes, I believe so.. Well, except for Staci.. But I have a feeling that you'll know when she's ready.
* Hiei lowers his eyes and tries to stifle his yawn as he sets the empty cup aside. He speaks the thought that rambles through his brain before giving it much thought.
Hiei- What will happen to all these brats if I don't mark them?
* Sarista situates herself to face Hiei and embrace him, but she misses the scowl he gives himself at bringing up such a 'rediculous' subject.
Sarista- Usually, Gamock only marked the ones he planned to keep here. Like Troi, Gam, Silis, and 'Garo were. The others he sold.
Hiei- I already told you.. I'll never sell any of my..
Sarista- If they're not marked then they'll grow up with the choice to be able to leave on their own when they're old enough to.
* Slowly Hiei digests this, then he nods and leans more against Sarista. He habitually brings one of his hands up to lay it on her rounded belly. After staring blankly at it for a couple moments he closes his eyes. 'Mental note, must throttle the godling for an answer to this mess.' Sarista screws her brow. In his weariness Hiei has placed no shield on his thoughts.
Sarista- Mess?
* She feels Hiei tense in her arms and shakes her head, deciding to chalk it up to his weariness. She then notices his bare feet.
Sarista- Where are your boots?
* The Koorime opens his eyes to look at his feet.
Hiei- S---, I left my boots in the West wall cave.
* The Alpha Female chuckles softly.
Sarista- Sleep, Love. I'll have them fetched.
Hiei- Th-that son of yours.. has a strange at-traction t-to.. feet.
* Hiei is barely able to finish the sentence before he slips out into hibernation. Sarista settles him down to lay comfortably on the furs, leans to brush his lips, then raises up to study him thoughtfully a moment. Quietly, she stands and leaves the cave.
