Hiei's Harem - Pt. 3 - Returning

Scene 4 ------------------ Two Hours Later


* Hiei's true eyes open when the jagan alerts him to a presence outside. When he realizes who it is he looks toward the bed. He isn't surprised to find the slave awake and obviously nervous about him being awake.


Hiei- (Quietly) If you wish to be truly free of that Weasel just go ahead and tell him to come in here.


* Hiei stealthily slips over beside the door. Minoro studies Hiei thoughtfully a moment, then he gives a slight nod. Something in his gut telling him to take the chance on this small demon. When he bows his head and closes his eyes Hiei takes out his katana silently.


(#) Minoro- Hai, Master Hanobi.. He's asleep.


* Hiei snarls silently when he hears a key unlocking the door. So he was correct in his suspecions. This was intended to be a setup. The door swings open slowly, giving Hiei even more cover. With his jagan open, though, he's able to 'watch' the Weasel slink inside and begin to look around.


Hanobi- Where is he, Mutt?


* The boy looks up but remains silent. Hiei slams the door shut. Before Hanobi can even get turned around fully Hiei's actions are just a mixture of blurs and flashes from his katana. Minoro's eyes, though, never seem to miss a second from the time Hiei leaps to the time he skids back to watch the Weasel alertly.


Hanobi- You're awake..!


* Minoro's eyes widen as Hanobi hisses. The Weasel spins to start chiding the slave, unaware of the various places he's bleeding from.


(#) Hiei- Relax.. Wait for it, boy.

Hanobi- You set me.. up! How.. how.. d-dare..?


* The Weasel drops the sentence and gives a startled scream when he feels his body beginning to fall apart. In seconds Hanobi disintegrates into dust as the pieces begin to scatter sloppily to the floor. Minoro's eyes look from the floor back up to Hiei. He watches the Koorime bend to pick up something from amongst the blood that remains. The Hyena hybrid recognizes the necklace when Hiei shakes it off and slips it back around his neck. The apparition glances toward Minoro as he buffs the gem on his black shirt.


Hiei- My refund in full.

Minoro- You.. knew..

Hiei- I put it together when I seen that mark on your chest.


* Hiei stuffs the gem back down inside his shirt and moves to the bed. He continues speaking as he uses the blanket to clean his blade.


Hiei- To most demons it would appear as just a scar.. But, an Alpha demon,.. such as I,.. senses the feel of it right away.


* The younger male drops his eyes and raises a hand to cover the mark of possession near his heart. Hiei inspects the sword, then sheathes it and looks at Minoro again. he is a bit surprised to see wetness sparkling on his cheeks.


Minoro- Thank you.

Hiei- It was necessary to free you..

Minoro- You have provided me not only with the escape I have been longing for, but the redemption for all the lives I couldn't save..

Hiei- What is this you're babbling about?


* Minoro lifts his eyes to look toward the only window in the hut.


Minoro- In killing Hanobi.. The one who gave me this mark.. You have freed me.. He always told me that if he was ever killed I would die soon after..

Hiei- And of course, you lack the knowledge to disbelieve the b------'s words.


* The hybrid looks back at Hiei.


Minoro- He.. lied to me?

Hiei- He was a murdering Weasel demon.. Lying is their best trait.. The only half-desirable thing about the species as a whole, as far as I'm concerned.

Minoro- Then.. what will happen to me now?

Hiei- The only things that will be gone by morning, boy.. Are that mark and us.


* Hiei moves back toward the armchair.


Hiei- Now sleep.. We have a long journey to begin at dawn.

Minoro- You're an Alpha?

Hiei- Hn.

Minoro- You know that I'm.. gelded..

Hiei- Hn.

Minoro- I'm two parts Hyena, but.. I'm not a bearer, either.. This is why I was..

Hiei- Your condition matters little to me. I'm not taking you back to my pack for that purpose anyway.

Minoro- Then what..?


* Hiei sighs with exasperation and looks toward Minoro again.


Hiei- I'm taking you back to be reunited with your Mother.

Minoro- M-my.. mother..?


* Minoro recalls the memory of her that Hiei had awoken in him earlier.


Minoro- D'-Tara.. Is that her.. name? It whispers in my.. mind.. like a distant echo.

Hiei- Hn.. I am her Alpha now.. I'm hoping that she'll be pleased to see you.


* Minoro looks at Hiei, showing clear excitement for the first time.


Minoro- Will she know me? I was so young when I was.. taken from her.

Hiei- I can't answer that.. As I said, I'll explain more as we travel. Sleep now.


* Hiei rolls his eyes when he can feel thoughts whirling through Minoro's mind.


Minoro- Will you spare kuroso then?

Hiei- The owner of this dump?

Minoro- He was owned by Hanobi, the same as I..

Hiei- then I have nothing more to do with him as long as he stays out of my way.


* Hiei crosses his arms and bows his head. The boy's mind continues buzzing with everything that's happened, though.


Minoro- Hanobi named me Minoro.. Whenever he would call me a proper name, that is.

Hiei- Is that the name you wish to keep?

Minoro- I.. I don't know..

Hiei- For the remainder of the journey I will call you that.. But if your Mother chooses to place a different name on you I'll honor her desire.. Now sleep..

Minoro- I can't help it! I'm just so excited.. I feel as if my life has just started again! I feel..


* Hiei blinks over, shoves his bandana up, and Minoro looks straight up into the wide-open third eye.


Hiei- You feel sleepy, d--- it!


* Minoro's eyes immediately drop, then he slumps backward fast asleep. Hiei moves back to the chair murmurring about stubborn Hyenas. He pulls the ward back down as he settles back into the chair. He stares at the sleeping male a couple moments, then looks away to drift off on hopeful thoughts that the boy will be what D'Tara needs to pull her out of her depression. The Hyena hybrid female may not be the prettiest female he's ever laid eyes on, but she's not the worse, either. He gives a mental grunt in his sleep when he recalls the ugly look of anger he last seen on the exposed half of Mukuro's face just before he left Alaric for good. He has more important duties now. He must do a couple things as soon as he returns. He must make sure that D'Tara accepts this longlost son. Then he must figure out a way to break the news of his sterility, that he is so sure that he's cursed with. His brow furrows and he reopens his true eyes a moment. How can he explain all their 'symptoms'?


Hiei- (Quietly) Feh! It's just their state of mind.. The mind of a demon can do.. strange things.


* Somehow, this explanation doesn't mesh well with his inner thoughts. Before his civil mind and his instincts can restart their battle from earlier, Hiei wills the jagan to suppress these disturbing thoughts. He must get some rest himself. With a final growl he closes his true eyes and resumes his light sleep.
