Chapter 4
~*~ Hi everyone! Here I am back again with yet another update… okay so I’m going through the whole “I’m obsessed with this story” mode again and so here I am with another update much quicker than the last one took to get out *Giggles* Also someone commented that this story reminded them of Sensual Phrase... yes yes yes this story is loosely based off Kaikan Phrase or Sensual Phrase as it's known in english, but it will be only somewhat like that story, this story is more of a Dir en Grey X Yu Yu Hakusho cross as the story is kinda telling about Kyo the lead singer through Hiei, but that is neither here nor there considering how much alike the two are. This chapter… hm you might want to re-watch the live video to hear Kurama’s guitar solo here is the link again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vla7hKNBbO4. I’ve been on a mad Dir en Grey kick this week that’s probably another reason why this is coming out so soon. I hope you enjoy this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it, between watching Dir en Grey videos LOL. OH OH OH sorry I had add this... KyoHana... since I updated quickly FOR THE LOVE OF YAOI UPDATE WHAT PRICE LOVE!!!! I AM DYING WAITING ON THE NEXT CHAPTER!!! Okay I'm done... ~*~
Chapter Four
Kurama stood in silence in the doorway of a small rehearsal studio that was often used by bands that hadn’t quite made it yet in the visual kei genre of J Rock. The building was owned by a good friend of Kurama’s and Kuronue’s a Mr. Yoshimaru, an older gentleman still obsessed with the world of J Rock. The studio itself was one of several in the building that also housed a small noodle shop; this one shouldn’t have given Kurama pause, except for the person who inhabited one of the couches in the room. Hiei was resting on his back, his hands lying idle on his chest, one leg drawn up, his boot resting flat against one of the cushions. Kurama let his eyes take in the vocalist’s appearance, black pants covered the bottom half of him draping slightly off his hips showing a glimpse of skin despite the studded belt he wore. The top half of him was covered in a white tight tee-shirt, raising a brow while squinting Kurama couldn’t help but to smirk at the bold black lettering that read “FUCK OFF” across the front. How fitting. One arm was thrown across his face successfully blocking it from view, but the array of blond spikes were still poking out from the top of his head, adorable would be an understatement, sexy wouldn’t do him justice either Kurama thought as he pondered whether or not to go in and risk waking him.
“Don’t worry Kurama go on in, I seriously doubt our esteemed vocalist plans on waking anytime soon, well until his Sister gets here with his frozen coffee…”
Kurama had to keep from jumping at the sound of Karasu’s voice suddenly behind him. He had been so intent upon studying Hiei that he hadn’t even heard the drummer walk up. Moving into the studio he looks around in silence before allowing his gaze to land on Karasu. Dressed in a simple pair of very wide pants that made him look as if he were wearing a skirt, Karasu looked lovely, the top half of him covered in a beautiful purple poet shirt, the lace ruffles falling delicately over his hands. Watching as Karasu moved to the couch his gaze shifted to the following Kuronue dressed in a pair of black jeans and a black shirt that read SENSUAL SADISM in red. Raising a brow he watched as Kuronue lay on the same couch with Kuronue, resting his head in the drummer’s lap.
“This normal for him?” Kurama asked softly moving down into a chair close to the two, while taking note of the way Kuronue stiffened a moment then relaxed again. Interesting.
“Hiei being here before everyone else and sleeping when we arrive? Yes.” Karasu nodded as he ran his fingers through Kuronue’s hair, looking up to Kurama a moment he smiles softly.
“Hiei doesn’t sleep much… well ever… so he tends to sleep whenever he can no matter where he is… only time he really sleeps is if we’re all having a sleep over or something, but none of us have had time as of late…”
“Ah…” Another thing he didn’t quite know about the man who he had deemed without emotions. Seems there was more to Hiei than what meets the eye. Shifting a bit Kurama leans to the side to open his guitar case resting next to him letting his hand draw down his beautiful instrument.
“Have you seen Yusuke yet?”
Kurama raised his eyes looking to Karasu after noticing the underlying anger in the drummer’s voice. Hm. “Iie, I haven’t… you broke him last night…” Kurama arched a brow as his gaze shifted to Kuronue then back to Karasu.
“I wasn’t given a choice in the matter…” Kuronue’s voice was soft as he shifted slightly from under his boyfriend letting his lover rest his head on the couch. Looking to Kurama he smiles sweetly, “Can you watch him a moment? I need to call Yukina and ask her to pick up something for me.”
Kurama nodded his head watching as the male made his way out of the room. Looking back to Kuronue he couldn’t help but to smile at his sleeping friend, despite the momentary pull that had been on his heart seeing how Karasu took care of him. Shaking feelings better left alone away he pulls his guitar out of it’s case preparing to tune the instrument before practice.
“Hey Kurama!”
Kurama head rose at the suddenly very loud and happy voice of Yusuke and had been about to respond in kind when out of the corner of his eye he saw Kuronue’s eyes fly open. The hell?
“Oh Kuronue great, I caught you without Karasu…” Yusuke smile setting his bass down before making his way over to Kuronue his dark eyes soft, “Look I wanted to apologize for…”
To say the guitarist flinched was an understatement and suddenly Karasu’s words became crystal clear to Kurama. Rising out of his seat he moved between Yusuke and the path to Kuronue shaking his head with a soft sigh. Damn just what the fuck had the bassist done?
“The hell is your problem Kurama?”
“Don’t Yusuke… I don’t know what happened between you two, but I do know a flinch like that when I see one… back off.”
“Who the hell do you think you are? I know my friends pretty damn well, and I’m just talking to him. There is no need for this, you don’t understand…”
“I understand enough to know Kuronue does not need anyone invading his personal space right now with the exception of Karasu… You going any closer to him would fuck with something you have no comprehension of… back off.”
“What the hell are you talking about?” Yusuke frowned already not liking this new guitarist who seemed to think he knew everything there was to know about everything. What right did he have to stand between him and his friend?
“Not my story to tell… just back off Yusuke,” Kurama bit the words out emerald green eyes narrowing into slits usually soft orbs growing hard as emerald themselves.
“Ah Yusuke… good… come here you and I need to talk,” Karasu spoke softly as he glided back into the room just as Yusuke was about to force himself past Kurama. Shifting his movements he turned and walked into the smaller office part of the rehearsal room where they could talk in private.
Giving a final glare to Kurama Yusuke turns on his heel shrugging his shoulders as he made his way into the side room to speak with Karasu, not liking this at all. He didn’t like the idea of Kurama coming into their band and acting like he was Mr. know it all.
Raising a brow from his position on the couch, Hiei, who had been woken by Yusuke, had watched the entire transaction. The sudden protectiveness in Kurama, Yusuke’s reaction, Kuronue attempting to ignore all of them, but it was Kurama who had his attention. The guitarist had finally sat back down in his chair rubbing his temples, beautiful even in his confusion and slight anger. Kurama was dressed in a simple black floor length skirt and a soft emerald green shirt the lace ruffle front spilling over top a black waist cincher that had emerald green ribbons laced up to perfection. His reaction to Kuronue amazed him and had him wondering when Kurama had been involved in a Dom/Sub relationship, and with whom. Hearing a crash against the wall Hiei smirked as he allowed his eyes to close again a final slice of hope cutting through him that Karasu didn’t injure the band’s bassist.
“The hell is your problem Karasu?!” Yusuke struggled against the iron hold that Kuronue had on him since he slammed and pinned him to the wall as soon as he entered.
“I am sick of your shit Yusuke from this moment on you are never to drink again until you learn to control how much you intake and the stupid shit you pull. You and your goddamn gay tendencies when drunk need to stop now or so help me I’ll kick the shit out of you. You hurt Kuronue last night, more than you know, and before I see a repeat performance I will have you kicked out of the band.”
Yusuke couldn’t help but to cringe at the harshness of Karasu’s tone. He had never seen the drummer so upset. Just what the fuck had he done last night? When he woke he couldn’t remember a thing, but his head was killing him and he was sporting a very swollen lip. Nodding his head then sliding down the wall once Karasu let him go he looked up at him through black bangs his dark eyes holding nothing but regret, “I’m sorry… I just wanted to apologize to him. I don’t even remember what happened last night… but I know I fucked up somehow…”
“Yusuke you need to decide if you are gay or straight, playing with Keiko is unfair…I know you’re sorry, but I’m not the one who needs to hear this right now it’s Kuronue. You want to know why you can’t be with him? You don’t understand him… you have no clue what kind of lover he is, and it is not a life you know anything about. He’s mine Yusuke that’s all there is to it, I love him and before I see you break us up I’ll kick the shit out of you.”
“I’m not trying to break you guys up… I’m sorry I fucked up… I promise I’ll quit drinking… I really do love Keiko you know…”
Karasu sighed wondering why he could never fucking stay mad at Yusuke. No matter how many times the bassist picked on him, how often he hurt him or Kuronue he always let it go, even now he was considering it, and he knew he would, but there could never be a repeat of last night. Ever.
“I’ll let it go Yusuke this time for the sake of the band and your relationship with Keiko… I do respect her, but remember my warning. Don’t go near Kuronue today until he feels like letting you near him… you’ll know because he’ll come to you.”
“Alright… I’m really sorry Karasu… we still friends?”
Karasu sighed at the sound of Yusuke’s voice. Damn him for having that child like quality that one couldn’t help but overlook. “It’s not in my nature to be forgiving, but Kuronue made me see that you probably wouldn’t even remember what happened so yes we are still friends as long as you keep your promise to stop drinking.”
Yusuke nodded and hugged Karasu before both headed out of the small room to rejoin the others in the studio. Blinking seeing Hiei sitting up and drinking his frozen coffee he laughed seeing Yukina and Keiko.
“Aww so Hiei got his coffee.”
“Bite me drunk, are we all made up now so we can finally get on with practice?” Hiei raised a brow in Karasu’s direction ignoring Yusuke huffing at his words as he stalks over to his bass.
“Yeah we’re fine Hiei…” Karasu nodded letting his eyes land on Kuronue who simply nodded his head draping his guitar strap over his shoulders. Smirking at his boyfriend he moves past him pressing a kiss on his cheek before taking his place at his drum set.
“I think we should play Akuro no Oka again so Kurama can hear it before he joins in, would hate for him to get it wrong and all being new and stuff.” Yusuke nodded his head looking smug slightly as he looked over to Kurama.
“I don’t need to hear it again… I remember it completely. If you trusted my skills enough to be so determined to have me in this band why not have faith that I’ll play it right on the first try?” Kurama raised a brow as he spoke ignoring the feeling of Yusuke’s eyes on him instead looking straight at Hiei.
Hiei smirked behind his cup his eyes sparkling softly in humor that he wouldn’t allow to spill from his mouth. Kurama has just successfully told Yusuke to kiss his ass without having to out right say it, and from the look of astonishment on Yusuke’s face he got the message. Standing and setting his cup down on the table he shrugged his shoulders nodding his head to Kurama.
“Very well Kurama… show us what you got. Kuronue…”
Kuronue nodded and began to strum his guitar to the opening of Akuro no Oka soon enough the rest of the band joined in Kurama picking up the electric guitar parts with ease, his eyes closed as he played, his body rocking in tune to the beat. As Hiei moved to the mic and began to sing Kurama silence his guitar letting the others continue, his emerald green gaze opening looking to the vocalist. Watching the vocalist sing Kurama couldn’t help but feel that same feeling he felt when he first heard Hiei. The song was so passionate coming from him, and even now he could see the emotion pouring out of Hiei despite the man usually being so cold and without emotion.
“At that place, we happened to meet… and now we can’t do anything yet… In this town, we happened to meet…and now I cannot love anyone, yet…”
Picking back up the guitar parts Kurama closed his eyes again letting his fingers strum along the strings his emerald green eyes drifting closed to the sounds of Hiei’s voice drifting off on that held note. Silencing his guitar again moment’s later he let his gaze shift to Hiei watching the vocalist move as he performed. He was so graceful so much like that flickering flame on a candle that refused to go out.
“You are now, at that hill, where we two saw this sky that you are staring at. I am now, at this sky, where we two were that hill that I am staring at.”
Kurama picked up again letting the song roll from him as Hiei started going into the chorus, his emerald green eyes were closed again as he swayed his body to the sound of his guitar, the beating of Karasu’s drums, Yusuke’s bass, and Kuronue’s guitar beat through him, but nothing stood out more than Hiei’s voice as he took up the chorus.
“Withered flowers like that point in time its good only once more wanting to bloom beautifully. Within this night even spirit, even ideals melt into the darkness at least, even for tonight I'll be by your side.”
Hiei watched the tremble run through Kurama as he began to whisper the lyrics softly he moved closer to the guitarist moving behind him whispering the words into the mic. He watched as Kurama shivered under each word falling from his lips his head hanging down. Yes it was there… he felt it… he knew he did. Play it Kurama… play for me… play my pain…
“At that place, my encounter with you everything will begin and now, we can't do anything. In this town, my encounter with you and now, with you who cannot love anyone, the two of us again, to that hill,” Leaning close to Kurama Hiei whispered the words against his neck then stepped back slowly watching as Kurama shook his head and his fingers took to the strings of his guitar. Closing his eyes he listened to the sound Kurama created and tightened his closed lids refusing to let the tears that wanted to fall from his eyes go… yes there it was pouring through the room like the thousands of tears he had wanted to shed but never could, like the pain that ripped through him like a thousand cuts of a razor blade upon his flesh. He felt… lifted… as if someone else understood the pain no one else could, not even his own flesh and blood…
Kurama had almost lost his nerve to play the solo when Hiei moved to him, but the sound of his lyrics touched him and he couldn’t help but to take his fingers to the strings, the pain in those whispered words drawing it out of him just as it had the night he first heard Hiei sing. His dream came back to him, Hiei’s words of wanting to open up to him, his desire to show him all of what he felt inside, the need to have him play it out loud on his guitar… Shaking his head he leaned down letting his guitar sing the pain Hiei wanted shown. As he came into the holding notes he closed his eyes tighter his body swaying slightly as he shook his head his before he struck the final note and stepped on his distortion letting the sound come out like a scream from his guitar, which in fact in a way was a shared scream of pain between him and Hiei… by Kami what was he doing to him?
The others stood in shock as Kurama played, never forgetting their own instruments, but none of them could get over the sound in Kurama’s guitar, not even Yusuke. As he played his bass solo he felt the end of Kurama’s solo was perfect for his own solo to begin. He felt bad for giving the guitarist a hard time, but he really hadn’t thought Kurama would be ready to play with them, let alone so well and with so powerful a solo ready to be played. It even put his solo to shame. He shook his head as the others picked back up with him letting his eyes glance over their faces. Kurama had his head lowered, his hair blocking his face as he played, Kuronue was looking at Kurama as he played, and Karasu had his focus on his drum set… Hiei had moved back to his mic stand and was singing yet again looking rather pleased.
“Withered flowers like that point in time its good only once more wanting to bloom beautifully. Within this night even spirit, even ideals melt into the darkness at least, even for tonight. The bond that joined us is broken I, deeply depressed saw at the end, I loved you a dream that won't come true wait at the hill of Acropolis I want to sink into sleep with you to unwakeable dreams.”
Hiei looked to Kurama watching the guitarist as he played with the others and felt a sense of pride and something else… something he couldn’t name for the guitarist. He was playing for him, just for him, he could tell by the sounds that came out of that guitar, how each note pierced him and made him want to sing his heart out. He was falling for the guitarist, and neither one of them had really made a move toward the other, it was just the chemistry between them… there was no denying it… not that he wanted to. Kurama was like the other half of himself that was missing, the part he needed to ground himself, to make his nightmares disappear, to help him take the past that had damn near destroyed him and remodel it into passion in his music and between them.
“The past can never be restored, but... in another incarnation I will search for you, so until that time wait for me yet now at that hill you are not there!....”
As soon as Kuronue finished the final strumming of the acoustic guitar at the end of the song everyone made their way to Kurama who was still standing there with his head down, red hair blocking view of his face.
“Wow you guys that was amazing!” Keiko continued to clap after wiping the tears from her eyes.
“I agree… damn Kurama where did that solo come from?!” Yusuke asked making his way over to the guitarist slapping him on the back.
“Beautiful solo Kurama… very beautiful…” Karasu smiled softly as Kuronue nodded his head agreeing completely, but sung no praises, hell he had been tutored in guitar under Kurama… he didn’t need to praise him he already knew about his skills.
Raising his head finally once he was sure he had his emotions under check Kurama smiled softly to the others his emerald green eyes sparkling softly. “I… the solo came to me last night when you guys first performed it… I didn’t even have to write it down… it was just there.”
Letting his eyes shift his gaze met Hiei’s and the heat he saw there, the passion, the emotion, the sorrow ripped through him. Hiei was pleased, but there was something else there, something else behind the soft smile playing at the vocalist’s lips, something deeper that made Kurama blush and look away.
“I agree completely that song is amazing… I think you should make it one of the two songs you perform at the band competition I signed you guys up for at J-Rock Con.”
“What?” Hiei turned around then raising a brow looking at his Sister who stood before him with a smile on her face her beautiful eyes sparkling beneath that array of blue hair atop her head.
“I booked you guys for a band competition that will not only get you guys a recording contract if you win, but you will open on a tour for none other than Shiroi Bouquet!”
Everyone’s mouth fell the hell open, except for Kurama who looked ready to faint. Shiroi Bouquet… that name took him back… took him back to a time where he had been friends with that band before they made it famous, before… shaking his head he blushed deeply and said nothing as the others began to talk all at once in excitement.
“When is it?”
“Oh my god… what are we going to wear…”
“We really need to write more songs… and prepare our set… and…”
“Hold on you guys relax… the show isn’t for another two months… so you have plenty of time to prepare, as well as time to get in a few shows at the clubs to put your name out there and allow me to advertise that you guys are competing… Shiroi Bouquet will be one of the judges for this competition…”
“This is so awesome! This could be our chance for stardom!”
Hiei smirked hearing Yusuke talking about being famous as always, but his eyes were on Kurama and his reaction. He looked… somewhat nervous. Raising a brow when Kurama looked his way he watched the guitarist quickly shake his head and place a smile on his face. He could tell it was forced, hell he was the master of it. Leaving it alone for now Hiei returned his smile as much as he could before focusing on what Kuronue was saying as he jumped up and down with Yusuke.
“I say we party to celebrate since Karasu’s and my house is the biggest one I say we all meet there!”
“Hell yeah! SLEEP OVER!”
Karasu laughed shaking his head watching Kuronue and Yusuke’s antics happy to see his lover had gotten over what had happened the night before. Seemed things were really coming together. Looking at Hiei and Kurama he noticed the two passing glances and raised a brow. Hm… something was happening there he just knew it, and he had a feeling this party was going to be interesting indeed... as well as the next couple of months leading up to the competition. The band was coming together, their sound was complete, he had a feeling they would all be very busy within the next few months, but he let everyone enjoy the happiness in the air for now also feeling a sense of underlying drama there as well. Karasu couldn’t quite place his finger on it, but he knew in his heart that whatever it is… they could handle it together… couldn’t they?
~*~Author’s Ramblings: Ooooo ya’ll probably gonna kill me for that… I know you all are now wondering who in the hell Shiroi Bouquet is… well… here is a hint… Shiroi Bouquet means “White Bouquet” the Japanese word for WHITE being the HINT. That’s all I can tell you, but I have a feeling you’ll all be pleasantly surprised at who all is in that band. I told you I had a hell of a lot planned for this story. Underlying drama… hmmmm… wonder what that could be… and the party! Hiei and Kurama sleeping in the same location… interesting… well I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it. Whew… Kurama and Hiei are just dying to get together it’s driving me insane trying to keep them two at bay… it will be a while yet before they get completely together, but you’ll be seeing hints of their feelings drawing them closer to one another in the next chapter, no lemons… sorry. This story is going to be one of my ones with not many lemons in the beginning, but that slowly leads into them. This particular story is basically their beginning, and yes… I do have plans for sequels and everything; this story will be around for a while. Anyway I got the next chapter out fast for you guys so please leave me lots of reviews and cookies, and love… and I’ll see what I can do about putting out the party chapter quickly too ~ Lady Aqualyne
