Book 3 - Chapter 2

Chapter 2

She still had him by the shirt when she arrived in the mountain forest where they sparred. He has asked her several times to let go of his shirt, but she silently refused with a look that could have killed many a youkai. He didn’t understand the anger and she was blocking him out of her thoughts. He moved behind her, unknowing what she wanted from him.

“’Maya. Let go. What the fuck is going on.”

She remained silent as she walked over to a nearby stream, pulling him along. He wondered what the hell they were doing there as she threw him over her shoulder into the water, the shock of cold barely hitting him as he landed on his feet, battle ready. He turned to face her, seeing her grabbing for a large stick, three inches around and as long as she was tall, standing with it as if it were her katana.

“Amaya…”

Her aura burst with color, every emotion invading the spirit energy she was putting out.

“Don’t you ‘Amaya’ me, Hiei. You fucking asshole. You damned coward! How could you? I trusted you. You said you changed! Did you ever plan on telling me you were going back to her?”

As she spoke, she rushed at him, hitting him in the knee and knocking him to the ground. He cursed as the wood hit him, making his leg scream in pain. It would be nothing later on, but for that time it kept him down and unable to get to his sword.

“You fucking bastard, I should kill you! I can’t believe I listened to you. You lied to me, didn’t you!”

She was crying as she screamed, he could tell. Her tears and rage were blinding her, and she wasn’t thinking about her target. He rolled away from her and climbed out of the stream, barely limping as he pulled out his own weapon. He turned the blunt side of it to her, careful not to hit her and only block as she kept swinging on him.

“Amaya! Stop! Talk to me! What is wrong with you? Have you gone mad?”

“Fuck you Hiei!”

She turned and swung at his back, planning to land a hit on his back but missing by a mile due to Hiei being much faster. He turned to defend himself, the flat part of the blade coming in contact with the stick, the sounds of their fight filling the forest around them.

“Stop this ‘Maya. Stop. I don’t want to hurt you! STOP!”

Her eyes turned cold as she brought the wood down above his head, missing him by a hair. She realized she missed a fraction of a second before he grabbed her arm and twisted it behind her, pinning it to her back and pulling her body against his by wrapping his bandaged arm around her waist. He held her close and tried to keep his grip on her as she threw her weight back and sent them back into the shallow stream.

“Fuck Amaya!”

He screamed at her as he hit his head, effectively making him let her go. He got up and ran after her as she ran up the bank, watching her trip over his sword hilt and running away as fast as she could.

“’Maya! Stop this!” She turned to face him when they were in a clear area, aiming a kick for his head, not pulling back, but definitely not missing as she got him in the jaw, sending him back flying.

“Get up. Get up and fight me Hiei! Get your ass up! You damned coward of a demon! You kissed her, you son of a bitch. You betrayed me!”

He sat up, leaning on his forearms, blood tickling from his mouth and forehead as he looked at her. ‘Damn it’, he thought. ‘She saw Mukuro.”

“’Maya. I didn’t kiss her. I swear to you!”

“You Fucking LIAR!”

She swung at him again, aiming for his face and laying into him verbally.

“DAMNIT ‘MAYA STOP AND LET ME TALK TO YOU! I WANT TO EXPLAIN!”

“I should kill you!”

She hit him over and over, and he let her, knowing she would tire out after a while. He tried to talk to her in her mind and calm her, but all he could see was a great wall of water and as a fire demon knew he would never get through.

She continued to strike him for a long time, landing blow after blow on his face, shoulders and head. He finally stopped defending himself when she slowed down, exhausted and cried out. She ultimately collapsed in front of him, sitting on her knees and crying out, her screams verifying her broken heart.

“Hiei, how could you! Why!”

He kneeled down and pushed her onto the ground, straddling her body and holding her wrists down, willing her mind open. His hands burned as he touched her, leaving light scorch marks on her wrists and his hands. He didn’t pull away. The burning ceased to hurt after a few seconds as she relaxed, letting the tears fall. She finally let him in, hot tears streaming down her face.

‘~Amaya, look at me.~’

The order was calm, and kind for Hiei, who knew he would lose his own sanity if this kept up. He thought she was obviously losing her mind. He willed her to look up; knowing if she didn’t it would not be at all good for their relationship.

‘~How could you Hiei? Why? Did I do something wrong? You said you would stay away from her. You said you didn’t want to be with her, you wanted me. You are mine, I am yours. Did you lie to me? I trusted you…~’

‘~Amaya, do you still trust me? If I show you the truth, will you trust me again? You know damn well when people are lying to you. Let me show you. Please Amaya.~’

She fell silent and he pressed his lips to hers in a rushed kiss while he opened his third eye, forcing the memory into her mind. He did not want to relieve that horrible kiss for any longer than he had to. He held her face, thumbs rubbing the tears away as she saw Mukuro come in the apartment. She pressed her lips harder to his as she saw him push her away and feeling the disgust he had when the other demon touched him. She turned her head away from him, her tears streaming into the grass.

“I didn’t do it. 'Maya. I love you, I didn’t do it.”

She reached up and pulled him to her, arms wrapped around his neck, lips to his.

Hiei was strong. He could have been one of the rulers of the Makai. But on that day one human conquered him.

On that Day, Amaya Saikoubi broke him. She made him shed a tear.

And the world found out, even Hiei’s tears created hiraseki stones.
