Walking Blindfolded

ALRIGHT!! I got some inspiration for the next chapter, so I'm writting it down. I also decided on the pairing, but it's gonna be a secret. I was going to tie this story with the tv show plot line, but decided not to. Thanks to those who left reviews and I expect more of you readers to review also. I'll try to add another chapter soon after this. Thanks

Chapter 3: First Day of School

Arya sat in the Kuwabara living room while Yusuke, Kuwabara, Shizuru, and herself ate dinner and laughed. Mainly it was just her and Shizuru laughing at Yusuke and Kuwabara arguing. Some people would get annoyed, but Arya didn't mind it. In fact it was a nice change of pace from the quietness of the shrine. While Yusuke and Kuwabara agrued over the movie Cool World, Shizuru turned towards Arya.

"So Ary, are you excited about going to a public school?"

Arya gave her a smile and looked down at the box in her lap that held her school uniform. This would be the first public school that she had ever went to.

"Yeah, I think it'll be just great. I'll also be able to hang around with Yusuke and Kuwabara."

Both boys gave her a huge grin and took big bites of their pizza. When he swallowed his bite, Yusuke turned and looked at Arya.

"Arya, how come you never went to a public school?"

"Well since our shrine was so far from the school and also because of my grandfather's training, we just oppted to do home schooling instead. However, I did go a few years at a public school when I lived with Kuwabara when I was little."

"Oh."

When everyone finished eating their food they turned on the Labyrinth and watched it up to the part where Sarah ate the peach because Shizuru hinted that it was late and they had school the next day. Yusuke gave her a big hug when he left and they all headed to bed.

Arya laid in bed staring up at the ceiling. It was true that she was excited about going to school with other people, but something told her that tomorrow was going to be something different.

Arya swore under her breath as she crammed her school unifrom on, fixed her hair, and rushed out the door. She was super pissed because not only didn't Kuwabara not wake her up, but she overslept. She didn't blame Shizuru because she had to leave really early in the morning for work.

She ran down the street as fast as she could, her bag hitting her in the side as she ran. She had no clue where the school was at, but she remembered where the bus stop was. She hopped that it stopped somewhere near the school.

Arya turned a corner and ran face first into someone much bigger than herself. The impact caused her to fall backwards onto the hard cement. A tough looking wanna-be boy wearing a pink school uniform, with black eyes, and slicked back brown hair, the one she guessed she ran into, glared down at her.

"Hey watch it, bitch! A little girlie like yourself should watch where she's goin'."

The boys friends all laughed at the girl who stood up and brushed herself off. Arya bowed polietly, secretly flaring at his rudeness.

"I'm very sorry." She managed to force out without slamming her fist into his face.

The boy sneared and moved his face a few inches from hers. Arya almost gagged on his breath which smelled of sake and cigarettes.

"Sorry ain't good enough. Maybe there's somethin' else ya can do to make it better."

The boy grabbed her arm roughly and so Arya slapped him hard across the face.

"Don't you dare touch me!"

A boy that was severly overweight came and stood at the right side of his friend as another that was really skranny came and stood at his left.

The fat boy stepped forward and glared at her.

"How dare you slap Hikuroshi! The star karate champ of our school!"

The skinny boy also took a step forward.

"Hey Hikuroshi, want us to teach her a lesson?"

However before either one of them could lay a hand on her, Arya managed to take the fat one out with a kick to the ribs and the skinny one out with a right hook to the jar. Both boys hit the ground hard. Soon she was fighting off all of Hikuroshi's friends. One or two of them managed to hit her, but not as hard as she hit them.

Suddenly, Arya cried out as someone came up behind her and held her hands behind her back. Soon what friends of Hikuroshi that were concious where holding her down as he stood in front of her with an evil grin on his face. Arya kicked and struggled against those who held her down. All the while, their leader looked her over.

He stepped forward and placed a sweaty hand on her cheek.

"If ya be nice to me little girlie, I might be nice back."

Arya closed her eyes tight and held back tears as she felt his hand slide down her face, down her neck.

'NO! No please, this can't happen!'

Suddenly the arms that held her let go and her eyes shot open. The boys fell to the ground with a thud and so did their leader. Behind him stood a boy wearing the same uniform only he had beautiful long red hair and breath taking green eyes. Arya shook as she stood there looking at him.

The boy's emerald eyes softened when they landed on her. For a moment Arya felt her heart stop. Something in those eyes touched some part of her soul that had been hidden far away. She snapped back into reality as he kneeled down and held his hand out to her. She numbly took it as he helped her up.

"Are you alright? Did that hurt you badly?"

His smooth, warm voice flooding through her body. Arya nodded dumbly and mentally slapped herself.

"Thank you very much for your help."

He gave you a warm smile and held out his hand.

"My name is Suichichi Minamino (hope I spelt that right)."

Arya smiled as she took his hand and shook it.

"Arya Sakura. It's nice to meet you Suichichi."

Suichichi took his hand back and looked her over for injuries. He noted that she was quite beautiful. Her long brown hair braided down her back, her pale skin barely showing the bruise on her face and wrist, and her chestnut eyes glowing brightly.

"It doesn't look like you're very hurt."

Arya gave him another smile.

"Nah, I'm fine. Those guys were pretty whimpy, but they managed to out number me."

Suichichi's eyes still held some concern, but it was barely visible. He noticed then that the school uniform that she was wearing looked familiar.

"That uniform...Do you happen to go to (the k&y's school)?"

Arya's smiled widdened.

"Yes I do! Today's supposed to be my first day, but I'm sort of lost."

She gave a nervous laugh and placed a hand on her head. Kuwabara was not going to let her live this down.

Suichichi reached out and took Arya's hand. Arya blushed a little bit and looked at their connected hands.

"I happen to know where the school is. I shall escort you there."

"Oh thank you so much, but won't you be late?"

Suichichi only smiled and started leading her in the direction of the school.

"It's no problem to help a lovely damzel in distress."

Arya only blushed harder, but allowed Suichichi to lead her on. She didn't know what, but something about him wasn't normal. However, Arya could tell that he was a very good person.

Kuwabara raced down every hall in the school and still no sign of Arya. He had checked with her teacher and she still hadn't been to class yet. He was really starting to worry. He asked Urameshi to look for her also. Kuwabara felt bad that not only that he forgot to wake her up, but take her to school. He would never forgive himself for that. He loved Arya too much to let her down like that again.


He spotted Keiko in front of the girls' restroom.

"Hey Keiko."

The brunette girl looked up at him and smiled.

"Hi Kuwabara, what's up?"

"Keiko, could you go in there and see if my cousin Arya is in there? She has long brown hair and eyes and a bit taller than you."

Keiko looked puzzled for a moment then entered the restroom. Kuwabara waited impatiently, tapping his foot. After a few minutes, Keiko came back.

"Sorry Kuwabara. No one by that name or description was in there. Need help finding her?"

"I'd appreciate that Keiko, but Urameshi is already helping me. But if you see her, tell her that I'm lookin' for her."

And with that, he hurried outside to see if Yusuke had found her.

Yusuke stood underneath his typical tree waiting.

"So Kuwabara, did ya find her?"

Kuwabara paled.

"No."

"Maybe she didn't make it to school."

Kuwabara paled even more.

Arya walked hand in hand with Suichichi. Both laughing about different things that they had in common. To her surprise, Suichichi liked most of the same things she did. He liked watching old corny movies, some of the same bands, hiking, and plants. Their favorite black and white movie was Nosferautu.


Soon her school came in sight and Arya sort of wished that her and Suichichi went to the same school. They reached the gates and Arya spotted Yusuke and Kuwabara.

"Hey Kuwabara! Yusuke!"

Both boys looked in her direction and hurried towards her with looks of relief. Suichichi just looked at her shocked for a moment and then placed a smile on his face.

Arya let out a winded laugh as Kuwabara lifted her in his arms and gave her a huge hug. As soon as he put her down, so did Yusuke. Arya couldn't help laughing the whole time.

"Where were you, Arya!? I was worried! I'm so so sorry!!"

Kuwabara got on his knees to apologize when she stopped him.

"It's okay Kuwabara. I'm fine. I even made a new friend. Guys meet Suichichi Minamino. He showed me where the school was."

Suichichi gave out a laugh and Arya looked at him puzzled.

"Sorry Arya, but we already know eachother. Yusuke, Kuwabara, and I are friends."

The boys grinned as she looked at them. Then a large sweat drop appeared on her head and Arya gave out a laugh.

"So Kur...I mean Suichichi, thanks for helpin' my cousin out."

Kurama looked at Kuwabara shocked for a moment then looked at Arya.

"You both are cousins?"

Both Arya and Kuwabara nodded.

"Amazing, I never would have guessed."

Arya and Yusuke laughed when Kuwabara jumped forward.

"Whadda mean?"

Arya stepped forward and grabbed his arm.

"It's okay Kuwabara! He meant nothing by it."

Kurama smiled and turned to leave.

"It was nice meeting you Arya and I hope we get to talk again."

"Thank you so much for the help Suichichi."

As Kurama headed to school, Yusuke stopped him.

"Hey after school, we're heading to the cafe. Wanna come?"

Normally Kurama would decline Yusuke's offer, but he wanted to get to know Arya some more. He didn't know what it was about her, but something pulled him to her. She wasn't like any other girl he had met before.

"Sure."

Yusuke grinned and patted him on the back.

"Okay buddy, see ya then."

On the way to school, Kurama kept thinking about Arya. The whole day he could think of nothing but her.

ERP: So how did you like the chapter?

Yusuke: Am I gonna get the girl?

Kuwabara: *hit him on the head* No you're not!

ERP: *sweat drop* Yusuke aren't you with Keiko-san?

Keiko: *flames in the background as she glares angerly at Yusuke*

Yusuke: *gulps*

Heie: *rolls his eyes*

ERP: Okay, I'll try to write a new chapter soon. Until then, please please review!!
