Book 6 - Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Ryu ran up the stairs and asked his Dad if he could leave, Yusuke deeming if the people downstairs were well taken care of, then Ryu could leave as soon as Yusuke came back down. The customers, many of them regulars, were taken care of by Hinote and Ryu; teapots filled, and orders served within a few minutes. They waited until Yusuke came down to cover, leaving after Ryu ran back to his room because he claimed he forgot something.

When they arrived, they greeted the doorman and headed for the elevator to the eighth floor. When the computer asked for her access code, she pressed it in and they walked into the room outside her front door, waiting until Hinote slid her pass card through the reader and the door unlocked and opened.

The apartment Hinote shared with her parents took up the entire eight floor of her apartment building. As they entered, Ryu looked around, taking in the spacious area, the human still not used to the large apartment that Amaya’s income could afford.

Saikoubai was the sole owner and proprietor of the Inner Sanctum, a string of seven ultra-trendy coffeehouses all over Japan. They were famous for having local and national music acts such as MAXX, Yoko Kano, and Ryuichi Sakamoto, playing periodically on their national tours. They were also well known for their drinks, Ryu’s favorite being the Italian Soda.
Hinote had a weekend and after school job working for her mother at the coffeehouse closest to their apartment as a barista and assistant manager. Her parents had deemed it necessary for her to learn all she could about her mother’s business, as she would be responsible for its operation as sole heir if something should happen to Amaya. Hinote would also have to care for Hiei, if he chose to stay fully in the Ningenkai, full-time. Due to his nature, Hiei decided he would not be able to keep down a normal human job, not suited to the work at the coffeehouse. He had chosen to stay home, spending his days with Amaya or caring for their house and Ningenkai finances.

Due to her work, Amaya could afford to provide a rather nice life for her mate and child, even caring for some of Ryu’s expenses. The water mo-zaku paid for tuition to one of the best schools for Ryu and Hinote, as Hinote insisted he be able to go a ‘school that deserved him’. Since Hinote, never a brat, had asked her mother to help him out, and she and Hiei had both agreed, paying both for not only Hinote and Ryu’s high school tuition to the Suzumebachi Academy, but for both Hinote and Ryu to attend Tokyo University. They agreed that if he could keep his marks up they would take care of all of his academic expenses. Since both had been accepted to Tokyo U and were the top two in the class, they had gained academic scholarships. Hiei speculated that Keiko had passed her high intelligence on to her son, as there was no way any of his ‘school smarts’ had come from Yusuke.

It was true that both Ryu and Hinote had some of the highest marks in the class, and both worked hard to keep them up. Both were some of the top students, Hinote being Student Council Vice President, and Ryu the class representative.

As Ryu looked around, he was reminded how different and similar he and
Hinote were. Both parents owned businesses, Amaya the coffeehouses and the Urameshi’s the noodle shop; both had a parent who was spirit detective, and both carried demon and human blood, thought Hinote was much closer to full demon and Ryu wasn’t even considered Mo-zaku like his father.

Yet, as both had similar backgrounds, both were very different. Hinote was bright, bubbly, and very outgoing, where Ryu was quiet, contemplative and somewhat introverted. Some thought the two of them were born to the wrong parents, Ryu being more like Keiko and Hiei, where Hinote was much more similar to Amaya and Yusuke. Both took after their mothers in personality and demeanor, a fact neither one denied.

Ryu watched as Hinote walked past the hall that led to her bedroom, her parent’s room and the other two bedrooms converted into one large training room. Ryu had fond memories of that training room, remembering the hours spent learning from the fire demon, sparring Hinote and learning to control his spirit energy. He walked out there more than a few times bruised sore and limping, but still went back almost daily for more.

As Hiei trained each child to defend themselves, their parent had needed to train them in their more specific powers. Hiei and Amaya had trained Hinote, while Yusuke had trained his son to use his spirit energy. Kurama and Kaida had trained their son and daughter in their own powers, their son, Matsu, trained in his psychic powers and the girl, Inari, was trained in using ki to work with demon world and human world plants. The only child not trained was Harime, Yukina’s child, who Hiei had refused to train, not willing to make a monster out of the young ice apparition.

“Welcome Ryu.”

The tall dark-haired boy turned to see Saikoubai Amaya, Hinote’s mother, behind the counter, pulling out plates, spoons, chopsticks and cups. “Here, you set out the tableware Ryu. Hinote, change out of your uniform and you can help me serve. Oh, and tell your father that he can come out of hiding now.”

Hinote flounced off, Ryu smiling at her retreating form as she did, thoughts interrupted by Amaya. She spoke as she put chopsticks, bowls and cups on the stack of plates he thrust into his arms.

“Pay attention to the plates, not Hinote’s ass.”

Ryu nodded, wandering into the dining room, sitting next to the low table to set down his pile. As he finished his assigned duty, the hiyoukai, Hiei walked in and sat at the head of the table, eyeing the son of the other spirit detective.

“Good Evening, Hiei-san.”

Hiei nodded, acknowledging him and then closing his eyes. “Ryu.”

“Sir, may I talk to you for a minute, uh, man to demon?”

“About?”

Ryu’s voice stumbled for a minute. “Um, Hinote.”

Two of Hiei’s eyes opened slowly, looking at the boy in front of him. “What about her.”

Ryu nervously pulled a ring box out of his pocket, setting it on the table as he spoke. “I know it’s not much, but I saved for months so I could get it. I want to marry Hinote. She and I have talked about it and we want to be husband and wife. You know I will work hard to take care of her, and I love her. Hiei-san, I want to do this right and…”

“Have you asked this of Hinote?”

Ryu stopped as Hiei took up the box and opened it, looking closely at the small emerald cut sapphire in silver.

“No, I thought it would be better to ask your permission first.”

“Good. Don’t say a word about it.”

“Hiei-san?”

Hiei looked the young man in the eyes as he spoke, his voice telling the boy he had better listen.

“You are not ready. You love her deeply, but you are unable to provide for her at this time.”

“No I can’t right now, but after The University.”

Hiei shook his head. “Five years from now. If you truly love her you can wait five years. Until you can show me you can provide for my daughter, you will not marry her.”

Ryu’s face fell. But he knew what Hiei had said was true. He couldn’t care for Hinote, not on what little money his father paid him to work in the shop.

“I understand Hiei-san.”

Ryu picked up the ring box and placed it in his pocket, disappointed that his plans hadn’t gone quite how they should have. He knew that the hiyoukai would accept it, but didn’t think he would make him wait. They would be at Tokyo U for the next five years, and maybe longer if Hinote pursued her master’s degree in marine biology like she wanted. He didn’t have a choice. He would accept the condition the older male set on him; Ryu didn’t want to anger him and would prefer to keep the peace on this. Ryu wasn’t happy in the least about it, but tried and succeeded to control his temper better than his father.

He watched the shorter fire demon, attempting to calm his anger when his teacher spoke, and Ryu knew that if he spoke, you listened.

“Ryu, I will not apologize for caring for and thinking of my daughter’s future well being and care. I have no doubt that you love her and want the best for her. She will most likely agree to your proposal and I won’t stand in her way, but for right now, I cannot allow you and her to marry and mate.”

Ryu’s face fell and nodded. “Yes sir.”

Hinote walked into the kitchen, arms raised as she stretched, her tank top and shorts covering just enough, but were definitely for the benefit of Ryu. She tugged the light red top down lower over her new navel piercing, the wound already healed after a few days. She wanted to keep it secret from her parents but unfortunately it wouldn’t happen.

“Hinote, why do you insist on hiding that thing from everyone? You have it, might as well show it off. You and Ryu.”

Hinote stopped, looking at the water Mo-zaku on the other side of the counter.

“How did you…?”

“Your father, he told me about it the day you got it. Same day that Ryu got his tattoo I believe.” Amaya snickered. “Give us some credit, Hinote. Between your father’s Jagan and Yusuke keeping tabs on you two, we know where you are and what you are doing 85% of the time.”

“Only 85%?”

Amaya smiled. “We do respect your privacy. You’re probably safer in demon world anymore than you are in the human world. Be glad Aoi won the tournament again this year. She would never let Urameshi’s son go into the Makai and be harmed. She respected Raizen too much: respects your father and Yusuke too much. And you two could probably get yourselves out of any mess you got into while you were there. We’re not too terribly concerned about that. We’re just more worried about what might happen if someone saw you use your demon form in public.”

Hinote shrugged. “I have never lost control, not like Dad or Yusuke.”

Amaya turned away, picking up a bowl and pouring the miso in the large container. “No chances. Too much is at stake if you did.” The water demon changed the subject quickly, smiling as she did. “You two are graduating in a few days; think Ryu will pop the question?”

Hinote, never wasting an opportunity to talk about her favorite subject, Ryu, smiled. “I think so. He’s been acting awfully strange lately, a lot happier. Yusuke knows I think.”

Amaya shook her head at her daughter. “You know I’ll support you in whatever you decide to do. I figured you would have gotten married earlier, but you two never asked for permission.” She smiled. “I want to know as soon as he asks you; I’d like to know when my only child is due to be married.”

*~*~*~*~*~*~*

During dinner, Hinote, Ryu, Hiei and Amaya discussed the two younger demons’ upcoming graduation from the Academy, plans for their entrance to Tokyo University, Hinote’s plans to enter the Marine Biology program, as well as Ryu’s decision to study Journalism and Art. His love of writing and 2D Art had gotten him an internship at Tokyo Shimbun, a newspaper who covered everything from Entertainment to the General news. He worked in the copy room, a few days a week, to gain experience he needed to be a better journalist later on. He had arranged his schedule so he could still attend school, work at the newspaper as well as the noodle shop and still spend time with Hinote. The young hiyoukai who would be working a bit more at her mother’s corporate office, learning more about the day to day operations of the family business. It had nothing to do with her schoolwork or chosen career, but she understood why her parents wanted her to be prepared; spirit detectives were not always guaranteed to return from missions.

During the meal, Ryu seemed restrained and upset to Hinote. She had been around him since they were very young and could pick up on his moods, and this was not normal. Ryu was not commonly sullen and pouty, but he definitely was right then. He was just as polite, just as kind, but you could tell he was in a mood that didn’t sit right with her. Hinote wondered what had happened that had set him off. It hadn’t been enough to wake his famous Urameshi temper, but enough to make it obvious that he was bothered by something.

After dinner, Ryu and Hinote left, Amaya and Hiei understanding where they had gone. As they walked, Hinote was quiet, trying to figure out exactly what his problem was. A few feet from the gate to the demon world, she grabbed his shoulder and turned him around, eyes defiant as she spoke.

“What crawled up your ass tonight?”

“Nothing.”

The blue haired female looked up at her lover and scowled. “I haven’t heard bigger bullshit from anyone Ryu. What happened? Why are you so….”

“Pissed off?”

“That too…”

Ryu Looked away, anger held behind those dark brown eyes. “I just…. I had plans for something and they kinda fell through for the time being.”

“Plans for?”

“It’s something I have to take care of. Don’t worry. I’ll be Okay. We both will. It will work out for the best.”

She smiled, taking Ryu’s hand and guiding him through the dimension gate. “I think I can make it all better.”

*~*~*~*~*~*~*

“Ryu!”

The man in front of the blue-haired girl leaned down and nipped at her chest. He wasn’t exactly relentless, but he was not going to let up, teasing the girl in his arms until he was satisfied that she was electrified.

He leaned down to pull her up into his arms, pushing her against the nearest tree. She sighed as he held her, her body relaxed, but holding on to her lover’s neck, leaning to kiss him, enjoying his natural taste, a combination of oranges and cinnamon. Ryu lifted his small lover up to wrap her legs around his waist, holding her in his arms as he wandered into the river. She never shivered as they hit the cold water, both the little fire demon and the battle demon’s son laughing as they splashed, falling into the shallow water. He stood up, the cold making his body shiver but acclimating quickly.

“Damn it, how can you stand the cold Hia? It’s near freezing.”

She smiled, swimming to the shore and sitting down on the nearest rock, watching the red Makai moon. “Never been too hot because of the fire demon, or too cold because of the ice apparition. Because of Mom, I can control water, because of Dad, fire and ice, heat and cold. If I really put my mind to it, I could freeze this river for two kilometers on either side of us.” She sighed as she leaned back, giving Ryu an excellent view of Hinote’s body, something that, no matter how often he saw it, had affected him since he was fourteen. He swam up to her rock, quietly placing a hand on her thigh. “Sometimes, just sometimes, I wish I didn’t have the ability to freeze or burn, that I was like you Ryu, a human.”

“That a bash on humans?” He smiled as he said it, causing her to bap him on the shoulder.

“No, I live as a human, I love a human, but I’m not. I am a demon, no matter how you look at it.”

“And you know I love you, Ice, water, fire and all.”

Hinote smiled, looking down at the hand on her thigh. “I love you too Ryu.”

He pulled himself out of the water; laying on the rock next to the one Hinote was lounging on. They were quiet as they watched the skies, the impending rain clear on the horizon.

“Rain coming.”

Hinote nodded as she moved over to lie on Ryu’s chest, letting him run his hands through her hair as he held her closer. They stayed that way for a long time, until the gentle drops of rain fell, a nice spring shower falling on them.

Ryu let the rain fall upon them as he moved to lean above his little demon, kissing down her neck, completely silent.

“Ryu…”

“Don’t talk Hia. Let me do the work for once.”

She complied, allowing him to kiss down her body. He stopped when he had kissed down to her navel, biting at the piercing, holding in his teeth. This made Hinote giggle, and making Ryu crawl back up to lay directly above her. They had done this dance before, but this time the water falling above them made it different. Hinote looked into her lover’s eyes and smiled, the rain falling on his back, pelting the both of them.

“Turn over; I want to see the rain.”

Ryu complied, turning the little demon to sit in his lap, letting her look up at the sky, watching the lightning above. She laughed every time she heard the sound and felt the thunder, letting it the electricity in the air flow through her body. Ryu smiled as she threw her hands into the sky, enjoying the simple fact she was near.

She looked down at Ryu, smiling as she moved in his lap. “Ryu…”

“Yeah Hia?”

“We’ve never done anything in the rain before have we?”

He smiled as she leaned up, letting her guide his flesh into her. She cried out as she moved down to his body, leaning forward to kiss him. As she pulled away, lightning struck above them, illuminating the both of them, brown human eyes meeting Koorime red.

Ryu turned the female hiyoukai over, lying above her as he moved, driven by the moans from her throat, the sounds almost drowned out by the thunder and rain around them.

“Ryu!”

Hinote’s head fell back as she finished, the human above her knowing enough about her that he could make her react very quickly.

“Hinote, I love you,”

She looked up, smiling into the rain as she spoke, throwing her lover off guard.

“Marry me Ryu…”

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Hiei walked out of the shower and heard the thunder outside, feeling the electricity in the air. He looked out on the balcony as he heard the roar, knowing that would be where he would find his mate. He found her sitting there on the railing, dressed in her training clothes, a blue tank and sweatpants.

He smirked as he spoke, moving to sit on the chair nearest to her, arm resting on the outdoor table next to him. “I thought I might find you here.”

Amaya turned and looked to her mate, smiling. “You’ve known me for almost 25 years; you should know everything about me by now.”

He sat, holding his towel shut as she watched, legs spread. He felt the first drops of rain hit as she walked forward, grinning. “I know what I need to know. If I don’t know it by now, I have no need to know.”

“I wonder sometimes what goes on in that head of yours.”

She stood before him as he sat quietly, looking up at the lightning, illuminating his body, wet from the rain. Amaya watched the play of muscles under taut skin, soaked with rainwater. She practically drooled as she watched the water run down his chest, down perfect abdominal muscles, only to be soaked up by his towel. The towel weighed down as the rain fell, revealing only the bulge beneath it, showing Amaya that this was a very aroused demon indeed.

Amaya looked down at her husband, her own clothes soaked to the skin, eyeing the wet towel covering the short male before her. “Let’s see, a fire demon in a towel. What should I do with it?” She leaned over him, whispering in his ear. “So many things I could do with you right now.” She leaned in closer, placing one hand on his bulge, the other running down his body, from his shoulder to his towel, her eyes following the line. She let a hand run under the covering, teasing him as he moved, squirming against the feeling of his female touching him in ways only he could enjoy.

“So many things.”

He smiled, moving up into his mate’s hand. “I’d let you do whatever you wanted.”

“Anything?” She stroked from the tip to the base, teasing him a little, barely hearing the moan from his lips, knowing he was not one who enjoyed being teased.

He grabbed her wrist, forcing her to touch him more, the palm of her hand petting him roughly.

“Anything.”

Hiei smiled as he pulled her hands away, taking time to slowly open his towel. She watched as he spread his legs wide, looking up only to see Amaya lick her lips.

“Thought so.” He spoke so she could barely hear, but she knew what he was thinking.

She smiled as she leaned down, letting him get a good shot of her, clothes soaking wet from the rain falling around them. “What was that?”

He didn’t respond as she kneeled in front of him, taking his demonhood in her hand and stroking. She watched as his head lolled back, his sounds definitely letting her know he enjoyed what she was doing.

“No such thing as a Little Hiei, huh? Just call him Big Hiei…”

He almost let out a sarcastic remark, but couldn’t as she leaned forward to take him in her mouth. She didn’t hear the moan as his fingers threaded through her hair, holding onto her as she worked. Hiei helped guide his wife’s movements, letting Amaya know he was close to the end. He moved up into her mouth, the rain trickling down to help her move on him, the water running coolly down his cock as she teased the head.

The Water mo-zaku reveled in the sound of his growls, grunts and groans as she worked, alternating between humming and sucking him in, his length hitting the back of her throat. As he felt her move up and down, he would pull her away every time he got close. She let her tongue run over him, the taste of him, the rain and his lust combining to drive her over the edge, her body begging for him as he pulled her away.

“Hiei…”

He lifted her up and kissed her, placing her on the table, leaning down to nip at her throat and neck. He yanked down on her blue sweats and threw them away as the rain started to fall harder, the sound ringing in the fire demon’s ears. Amaya lay on her back, legs wrapped around her husband, feeling him slip into her as the rain pelted them both.

Her nails dug into his back drawing blood as he worked, moving harder and harder into her, the male in silence, the female in ecstasy as he worked, throwing his body and soul into the movements and feeling he was eliciting from his mate beneath him. Amaya cried out, the rainwater moving over her mate and onto her as he worked, combining in a scent that over whelmed the water demon and the fire demon alike. He thought she smelled like heat, sex and the sweet smell of a warm summer rain. To her, he was the heat of battle and the taste of comfort and clarity after a storm. His body worked hers as he moved. She cried out several times before she finally let go, screaming loud enough that even Koenma's dead could hear.

He moved harder into her, crying out at the rain pelted and stung his back, the painful feeling keeping him within the world. He arched back and roared, feeling his wife’s nails digging into him, the final pain sending him over the edge into oblivion, taking his mate with him, her only reaction being the firm bite into his shoulder. He collapsed on her, barely able to hold himself up from her body. He pulled her down on top of him as they rolled from the table on to the ground, letting Amaya kiss him as he laid back, the rain washing away the sweat and exhaustion, leaving only the ache of past sex for them to remember.

“Amaya…”

“Love you Hiei.”

He smiled, a calm and genuine smile, as he held her, whispering in her ear, admitting it freely.

“I love you too Maya.”
