A/N: Hey everyone! I will be posting both this chapter and the next chapter. All I have to do is edit a few things in chapter 32 and then finish up what I need to for chapter 33 and then I will post those! But for now, I hope you enjoy these two chapters until then ^^.

Chapter 30: Hiei vs. Bui


A general air of shock emanated from the stadium.

“What's going on, dammit!!? Kurama definitely beat Karasu!!” Kuwabara shouted.

“It was the ten-count! Kurama made his counterattack from a fallen position, but I had already finished the countdown by that time!!” Juri said.

“Ten...count!? It's because of that?” Yusuke asked not able to hear it through the noise and drama.

“It's true.” Kurama said.

“The cheering of the crowd drowned out the counting. I checked the video recording and it confirms that Kurama did indeed attack after the time limit.” Koto said.

“Hurrah! It's Karasu's victory! That means the Toguro Team only needs two more wins!” the crowd shouted.

“Two more times! Two more times! Two more times!” the crowd started to chant.

“Shut up! We lost the match, but we'll win the competition! At least OUR guy survived!!” Kuwabara growled.

“Yeah which is the most important thing, I think.” You added.

Kurama gave you a smile.

“You don't understand. Did you forget? The winning team can make a wish for anything. Let me tell you what my wish will be: the deaths of all of you.” Elder Toguro said.

The crowd begins their favorite chant of ‘kill ‘em!’

“Urk!” Kuwabara said while looking at the Eldest Toguro brother.

“Let me tell you what MY wish will be: the lives of everyone involved in running this tournament so there won't be another one in the future. Yusuke, I wanted to fight Toguro, but for Genkai's sake I'll let you have the bastard.” Hiei said.

Yusuke looked at Hiei.

“...Hiei.”

“This guy will do, instead.” Hiei said.

He glared at Bui. However, it was hard to see what the big demon’s expression considering he was covered from head to toe in body armor; including a mask and helmet for his face and head. Bui also, carried a huge axe, the blade being bigger than Hiei.

“Please come out Bui!! Chop that shrimp in half with your axe!!” the crowd begged.

Hiei takes off his cloak, revealing his right arm entirely wrapped in bandages.

“My, my...Is that how you'll deal with me?” Hiei asked.

“ACK!! His arm is still all bandaged up like before! Didn’t (YAFN)-chan heal his arm last night?” Kuwabara asked before he turned to you.

You looked at the bandaged arm in shock.

“I did! Why is it bandaged?” You said.

“You don’t think he…he over practiced again last night?” Kuwabara asked a bit worried.

“No...! Those wrappings are used as a seal.” Kurama said in realization.

‘Does that mean in that short period of time...’ Kurama thought as he looked at the bandages.

“A seal for what?” Kuwabara asked.

‘He mastered the Kokuryuha!!’ Kurama thought in amazement.

“I’m not sure, but whatever it is, it must be powerful if he needed to seal it up…” you said, turning your attention to the ring where both fighters were standing and waiting.

“Begin!!” Juri said.

Bui rushed forward and demolished everything in front of him with his axe.
 
“Bui has made the first move!!” Koto said.

Hiei stood there in the same spot, untouched.

“Be serious. That doesn't even deserve a counter.” Hiei said.

Bui pried a huge boulder out of the floor with his axe, and tossed it at Hiei.

“Wha...what insane physical power!!” Kuwabara said.

Your eyes widened at the power displayed and secretly prayed that Hiei would be alright.

“You must be kidding...” Hiei said as he destroyed the boulder.

However, it appeared to be a distraction as Bui had come up behind the boulder and made an attack at Hiei.

“He's quick!!” Yusuke said.

‘Good chance’ Toguro thought.

“He can't escape.” Toguro said aloud.

“Hurrah!” the crowd cheered.

“Bah.” Scoffed Hiei.

Hiei looked supremely bored as he incinerated the oncoming axe with his left hand.
Both the crowd and Bui were surprised at how easily Hiei destroyed the huge axe’s blade.

“I said, be serious! With no youkai in it, do you think you can use such metal rubbish on ME!? I'm disgusted at such sloppiness.” Hiei said.

“Th...That giant axe melted just like chocolate!” Kuwabara said in disbelief.

You nod, also stunned at what happened.

This and Kuwabara’s second part of his fight were the two that you had missed in the series. You had work those two nights and were royally pissed that your VCR decided to die on you those two nights. You didn’t know what to expect.

‘Just as I thought...his Black Dragon Flame has doubled in strength.’ Kurama thought.

“That guy is outrageous...” Kurama says.

You looked at Kurama a bit confused.

“Huh? You mean for his strength or for going against Hiei?” you ask.

“Both.” Kurama answers.

“...I see. I suppose I should remove my armor in order to win.” Bui says in his deep bass voice.

“Oh my! Everyone, did you hear that? Bui spoke for the first time at this tournament. He has a fine, deep voice!” Juri says, looking like she had just gotten goose bumps.

Bui starts removing his armor, which creates craters when they hit the ring floor.

“That guy... even though he was carrying so much weight, he could still fight!” Kuwabara says in disbelief.

“Talk about training weights…” you mumble.


“There's your chance, isn't it? Why don'tcha hit 'im now while his guard is down!! Hey, spiky-haired boy!!” Atsuko shouted from the stands.

“That sort of thing just absolutely goes against his character.” Botan said looking at the woman like it was stupid to even suggest that.


Bui took off his helmet last and let it crash into the ground with a thud, revealing his face.

“Usually, armor is for the protection of the one wearing it. Mine is a bit different. I wear it in order to control my power. It's a terrible power that I can't even control.” Bui says.

“Oooooooo----That's amazing! Kill that little monkey! The bastard deserves to die for his attitude!!” the crowd shouts.

Bui’s body starts to glow fiercely as he hovers slightly above the ground.

“A Battle Aura? That's Bui's real armor. It's the first time I've seen power strong enough to keep the body afloat.” Kurama says.

“You'd better be serious, too. This'll make a good memory.” Bui says.

“You'll regret it!” Hiei says as he slowly unwinds the bandages on his arm.

“Hiei is taking off his bandages! Hey, Kurama!! What's the seal for?” Kuwabara asks, turning to Kurama.

“It's the same as Bui's armor: to control his power. If they don’t place limits on themselves, their power is unimaginably destructive.” Kurama says.

‘That kind of power...If the two of them strike each other in this place...’ Kurama thinks.

“This stadium will be blown up!!” Kurama shouts, his eyes widening.

“Ummm…I think I’m going to use you as a shield again, Kuwa-chan.” You say, ducking behind the stunned teen.

“Shit.” Bui says in realization at the amount of power his opponent has.

The bandages continue to fall into a pile that lay at his feet. When all of the wrappings are removed, a glowing black dragon could be seen coiled on his arm.

“It's too late for regrets. I can't replace the seal; I've forgotten how to wrap it back up. Take a look at the Ultimate Kokuryuha!!” Hiei says.

“Wow! He's released incredible youkai!!” Koto says.

“He...he really has mastered the Kokuryuha!!” Kurama says shocked.

“You go for it Hiei!” you shout from behind your ‘body shield’.

The two charge head on at each other, both wreathed in power.

"Let's go!” the two shout at once.

‘The Jaou Ensatsuken, the greatest secret technique of the Kokuryuha...If I can stand against that, I will win!! If I rebound the Kokuryuha back onto its sender, he will be devoured by its flames!!’ Bui thinks, continuing his onward charge.

“ENSATSU KOKURYUHA!!” Hiei shouts, shooting his arm forward.

A giant flaming black dragon comes spiraling off his arm and towards Bui. Bui screams as he was able to stop the dragon with his hands, which were powered by his aura. You notice Koenma’s finger is on the trigger of his escape device and sweat drop.

‘And my brother has HIM for his fav…’ you think remembering how your little brother only liked this show and declared his two favorite characters were Koenma and then Kuwabara.

Bui grunts as the dragon starts to push him around the stadium, destroying the stands and the spectators along with it.

“The Kokuryuha is running amok throughout the stadium!! The weaker members of the audience are being burnt to death!!” Koto shouts, ducking down under her desk.

Bui screams as he is shot through the roof, with the dragon still in his grasp. Bui steers away from the dragon and starts to head towards Hiei, the dragon not too far behind him.

“Got it!!” Bui shouts, sending the dragon straight at Hiei, swallowing him within the dark fires.

“Hahahaha...All right!! I did it!! I beat the Ensatsuken!!” Bui shouted.

“Awesome!! It's the second victory for the Toguro Team!! As for the stadium, there's hardly anything left, is there!?” the crowd shouts in glee.

“Hi--Hi--Hiei was eaten....” Kuwabara says in shock as he looks at where Hiei use to stand.

Your eyes widen and you felt faint as you lean up against Kuwabara’s side.

“No…Hiei…” you whisper.

Bui turns and embraces the cheers of his fans, proud at what he accomplished. However, black flames start to burn from behind him as a shadow of a figure begins to appear. Within the flames came a voice all too recognizable.

“What are you so excited about? There's something you'll want to see...”

“Hiei!!” Yusuke and you shout in relief.

Bui freezes at the voice and turns to see Hiei standing behind him without a mark on him.

“This can't!” Bui shouts.

“Something has changed, right? The dragon on his arm has disappeared!! Bui, what happened? Don't hesitate!! Kill him!!” the crowd shouts.

”This is what happens when he reaches the ultimate limit?” Yusuke asks, turning towards Kurama.

“That's right. He's absorbed the Kokuryuha...!! He is now the ruler and master of this incredible power....as someone with similar power, Bui should know this.” Kurama says.

Bui takes a step away in fear.

“Shit!!”

“Are you watching? This is the youkai of the one who controls the Kokuryuha.” Hiei says, as he has the flaming black dragon coiling around him. “Many people have a slight misunderstanding. The Kokuryuha isn’t merely a weapon. It's like a nutritional supplement that gives an explosive increase of power to its owner!”

“Shit...SHIT!!” Bui says, before becoming desperate and runs towards Hiei.

He lands a haymaker on Hiei’s jaw, but Hiei doesn’t even flinch. Bui screams in fear and rage, at how his punch seems to do nothing. Hiei strikes Bui almost casually, sending Bui up into the air like a rocket. Bui grunts at the full force of the punch as he seems to head for space. Hiei suddenly appears above the soaring man and smashes him down into the ground and through the floor, scattering spectators everywhere. Bui lies in the ground, in a crater that is shaped as his form, with Hiei standing over him.

“Kill me. When I was defeated by Toguro...I thought there was still a possibility for me to become stronger. When I retrained myself, I found that I had reached my limits, but Toguro continued to grow stronger. And now, you've beaten me, too. I have no reason to live anymore.” Bui says.

“Bah! I know you want to die, too bad, I won't do it.” Hiei says before leaping over to Juri, who was counting while the two were out of the ring.

“...eight, nine...” Juri counts.

“I don't take orders from anybody.” Hiei says.

“...ten!! The match is over, the winner is Hiei!!” Juri announces.

“Awesome!! Now we're tied!!” Yusuke shouts in excitement.

Hiei starts to walk over to the rest of you guys looking beat.

“Hey, is it safe to get closer?” Kuwabara asks as Hiei approaches.

“That was so cool, Hiei!!” Yusuke shouts.

“You took the words out of my mouth!” you say now out from behind your ‘shield’.

“Since you're so unbeatable, why don'tcha take all the rest of the fights?!” Kuwabara says, hoping that the fire demon would agree.

“I can't. There's a fatal drawback to using that technique.” Hiei says.

“Drawback!?” Yusuke and Kuwabara ask a bit worried.

“I've exhausted all my energy, so I'll need to hibernate for a few hours...this is the side-effect of any powerful technique. Well, you aren't really reliable, but to give you more confidence I used that technique. If you get defeated...before I wake up...I'll...get...you!!”
Hiei says, slowly tilting sideways before falling over, asleep before he hits the floor.

Both Yusuke and Kuwabara are flabbergasted at what Hiei has said and at the fact that he seems to care, not to mention trust them. Yusuke stands there speechless but with a grin on his face.

“He was insolent up to the moment he fell over. To think, someone as arrogant as him would have such a peaceful face when in sleep....” Koenma says with a smile.

“Let's write graffiti on his face!” Kuwabara says bending down next to Hiei, lightly poking him to make sure he wasn’t awake.

“OH! Let’s make him a kitty!” you shout, thinking it would be funny to draw whiskers on the fire demon’s face, however, Kurama intervened.

“I think we should take him somewhere to rest.” Kurama says.

You and Kuwabara pout, really wanting to see what Hiei would look like with whiskers. Kuwabara picks up Hiei and carries him over his shoulder.

“Attention! Because of the damage caused to the ring in the last match, we will have a twelve-hour delay so we can retrieve the ring from the old stadium and place it here! Thank you and please feel free to go to our concession stand for refreshments. We are sorry for the inconvenience.” Koto announces.

“That won’t be necessary.” Sakyou says. “Toguro will retrieve the ring, so there will only be a six hour delay.”

Koto looks at the man in shock.

“Ah…well, you heard it here folks! Toguro has offered to retrieve the ring from the old stadium and bring it here in half the time! What a show of power!” Koto shouts.

You and the rest of the guys stare at the Younger Toguro brother in shock as he sends a smirk in your direction.

“I do this in appreciation of being allowed to see your skill.” Toguro said with a smirk. “And I hope will have the honor to see more.” He threw off his trench coat and turned around, making his way to the old stadium.

“I got a bad feelin’ about this…” Kuwabara mutters seeming to have a tighter grip on Hiei, who was still out and on his back.

“He’s bluffing don’t let them get to you.” Yusuke says, though he was worried to from the look he had on his face.

“Yeah, he’s a show off, that’s all…” you add, though you know that you are scared just as badly as the rest of them.


You had all found your way to a locker room that was connected to the stadium and sat in silence. Kuwabara set Hiei down on a couch and went over to a window, leaning against it just staring out it. Yusuke leaned against the wall closest to the door, while Kurama leaned against the couch, his eyes closed in thought. You sat on a little stool that was near the door and found your self not liking the silence.

“Hey guys…” you say, getting their attention. “I know that this might not be the best time to say this and all…but whenever I’m scared or think that nothing good will happen I like to sing…and I like to sing a particular song…” you say.

“Don’t (YAFN)-chan. This is really not the time to sing.” Kuwabara said, looking at you with a serious look.

You look back, and look at everyone else who had the same grim look as he did.

‘Man…I can’t let those guys get to them…I have to do something to loosen up their nerves…maybe if I do that then maybe I’ll be more relaxed…’ you think.

“Fine, then I’ll sing by my self…” you say, ignoring the glares you got from Yusuke and Kuwabara and the frustrated glance you received from Kurama.

You took in a deep breath and closed your eyes, not wanting to look at them at the moment.

(Song Starts)

(As you sang these two verses the guys gave you a look that appeared to say ‘wtf’. All you did was smile and wink before continuing)

(You found a small object that appeared to be similar to a microphone and decided to use it as such. You found all three guys now looking at you, not having those worried and tourmented looks anymore. You were happy that your plan seemed to be working. You smiled and winked as you began to give them a show, swaying from side to side as you sang; making 'corny' little moves as if you were in a music video.)


I've tried to page you twice
But I see you roll your eyes

But your lips are sealed, that ain't no big deal

(You move up to Kurama take his hand and pulled him away from where he sat. He gave you an amused smie as you made him dance with you for a bit before putting your pointer finger to your lips at the 'sealed' part of the lyrics before continuing to sing as you give him a wink.)

(You spin around and away from him before pointing at Kurama and still tapping your feet to the beat you could hear in your head as you sang. You shake your finger at him before turning around, showing him your back before turning just your head towards him and wink at him before spinning around and grabbing his hands again, this time making him really dance with you)

(You took Kurama began to dance what could be described as an uncordinated 'fox trot' as you never really knew how to dance but it didn't seem to stop you. You then let go of Kurama. He was smiling and seemed to being having his worries melt away. You grinned and winked at him before you turned to your next 'victim'.)

Got my best DJ on the radiowaves saying
Hey Juliet, why do you do him this way

(You turned to Yusuke who was laughing at your antics and you gave him an evil like grin before running at him. His eyes widened, not sure if he should be scared or move or something. However, you fell to your knees and skidded to a stop at his feet. You looked up at him with a wink which made him laugh. You then held out your hands. He seemed to understand and pulled you up, however he spun you at the same time. You grinned as you saw at least Yusuke was getting into it. You glanced at Kuwabara who seemed to still be in shock. You smile and wink at him before bringing Yusuke out on the 'dance floor'. Kurama was now sitting next to the still unconscious Hiei and decided to watch as you danced with Yusuke.)

(You were spun and twirled by Yusuke. You were a bit suprised to see he seemed to know how to dance, however you continued to sing as you and Yusuke danced around the room like you were ballroom dancing.)

(You turned to Kurama and winked at him. He seemed to understand and sang with you for the chours part. Yusuke caught on and joined the two of you before he twirled you and let you go. You spun around until you reached Kuwabara who was now having fun. You looked up at him with a wink and motioned him to join in with a wag of your finger.)

(Kuwabara took your hand and the two of you began to dance on the floor, now all three guys singing. You almost faultered in both your singing and dancing when Yusuke took Kurama's hand and those two started dancing. However, you were able to control your self; if only barely. Kuwabara on the other hand had lost it and was now holding his side as he watched Kurama dip Yusuke and then vise versa. You continued to sing and decided to dance by your self now, happy that now everyone wasn't so stressed anymore. You picked up that microphone looking object again; having dropped it somewhere along the way and began to sing; Yusuke and Kurama now being your 'back up' dancers.)

(Kuwabara had now lost it. He couldn't contain his laugher as the three of you were really getting too into the song and really looked like professionals. Kurama thought it was a shame Hiei was missing this, but he would just have to tell the fire demon about it later. You contiue to sing and make movements as if you were really performing live, in concert somewhere. You all were having too much fun and your plan had seemed to be working)

(Now all three boys were singing the chours with you and Kuwabara was tapping his foot to the invisible beat he seemed to hear along with you, Kurama, and Yusuke. He nodded in tune as well as his deep baratone voice rung out. Kurama's tenor was solid and helped you keep in tune while Yusuke's lighter tenor was able to hit high notes you didn't even think existed. The song was coming to an end and you found your self back dancing with Kuwabara who seemed to notice it was about to end soon too.)

(You danced with Kuwabara as you sung and once you had finished, Kuwabara dipped you with Yusuke and Kurama seeming to be posing behind the two of you.)

You all started to laugh as well as gasp for air; all of you out of breathe.

"Damn (YAFN), you know how to give a guy a work out." Yusuke said after wipping the sweat from his brow.

Kurama chuckled and sat down next to the still sleeping Hiei. He wished he could pass out like his comrade but knew better.

Kuwabara let you go, but not without making sure you were able to stand on your two feet.

"That's was awesome!" you said with a grin.

"I didn't know you could sing like that!" you said looking at Yusuke who gave you a snicker.

"What? You weren't the only one who got the singing gene sis." Yusuke said with a chuckle and a wink.

You laughed too before sitting down. It worked but you were exhausted.

“Well, now I’m hungry.” Yusuke said as he rubbed his stomach.

“That’s what happens most of the time.” You laughed.

“Well, let's get something to eat then." Yusuke said wrapping his arm around your shoulder.

"Sounds good to me." Kuwabara said with a grin.

He wasn't able to eat, but after singing and dancing with you, the knots in his stomach didn't seem to be so tight anymore.

"You commin’ Kurama?” Yusuke asked, turning to Kurama.

“I’ll pass. I’m going to stay here and keep an eye on Hiei.” Kurama said with a smile.

“Sure. Let’s go.” Yusuke said.

“K, but let me go to the bathroom first…”you said with a blush, causing the guys to laugh.

‘They are much more relaxed. I'm such a genious.’ You thought with a smile before leaving the room.

Once you left the room, it seemed to loose its airness. The guys looked at each other with grim looks. You had helped lightened up the room, but they were still worried and stressed about the coming fights.

"We gotta make sure she doesn't fight against those freaks." Kuwabara said looking serious at his two comrades.

Kurama nodded.

"She hasn't changed, however if this tournment continues as it has been, it might leave a permeant mark on her personality." Kurama said with a nod.

'Nothing will happen to her.' Youko growled from within Kurama.

Kurama sighed and nodded as if agreeing with his inner self.

Yusuke was thoughtful as he thought about how much he had changed while being here. He had also gotten to know you a lot better and he knew that in reality, you had changed; if only a small part of you.

“Alright, lets go eat.” You said with a smile as you came back into the room.

However it vanished when you saw how serious they had become.

“Yeah, let’s go…” Yusuke said, taking your hand and forcing a smile so you wouldn’t worry, however you worried all the same.

Kuwabara took your other hand and they both lead you to the concession stand.


Hiei slowly woke up to find his arm re-wrapped and himself resting besides a quietly reading Kurama.

“Are you awake...?” Kurama asked noticing Hiei stirring.

“...How long was I asleep!?” Hiei asked a bit worried.

“About six hours.” Kurama said.

“The match!? What happened with Kuwabara and Yusuke!? Is (YAFN) alright!?” Hiei asked, earning him a small smile from Kurama.

“They haven't fought yet.” Kurama said with a frown.

“What? Why not?” Hiei asked, not liking what he was hearing.

“You guys really messed this place up!” Kurama said with a sigh.

Hiei gave Kurama a look before he jumped off the table that Kurama had used to wrap his wounds on and out the door, followed closely by Kurama. They walked into the stadium or what was left of it and saw you and their other two members of the team already in the stadium. The ring was already in place, being set down by Younger Toguro earlier, which you, Kuwabara, and Yusuke took witness to after you had eaten.

“Sorry to have kept you waiting so long, everyone! It's time to begin the third match.” Juri said.

“Great! No more waiting! Toguro's team will decide the victory!” shouted the crowd.

“The final is resuming at last. Although the interruption lasted about six hours, the tension of the audience has only risen to new heights!!” Koto shouted excitement obvious in her voice.

“All right!” Kuwabara shouted, still a bit nervous, but from the song you guys had sung earlier, he felt pumped up.

“Come to be killed, Kuwabara! Kill him! Kill him!” chanted the crowd.

“Huh...Those guys never learn. Didn't I teach them a lesson when I defeated that last idiot?” Hiei asked.

“While you were sleeping, Toguro gave a little performance.” Kurama told him.

“He was able to carry the ring from the other arena!?!” Hiei asked with wide eyes.

“He said it was in appreciation of being allowed to see your skill.” Kurama said.

Kuwabara is starting to sweat, from remembering the stunt Younger Toguro pulled; the dancing and singing having left him being replaced with the memory of Toguro’s strength.

‘SHIT! The feelings from Hiei's victory have been wiped out by Toguro's little act. I'll show them something better than that monster! I’ll show them certain death with my special sword!!’ Kuwabara thought.

“Hey, are you okay? You don't look so good.” Koenma asked, noticing Kuwabara was paler then normal, not to mention the sweat that was pouring down his face.

“Don't talk to me, you bastard! You're only standing in for that old fart. If the old lady had come, I wouldn't be facing that long-haired old man!!” Kuwabara growled out.

You came up to him and put your hand on his shoulder.

“Kuwabara, you’ll be fine. Or do you want me to fight him?” you ask, knowing that he wouldn’t and got the exact reaction you received.

“Oh no you don’t! I’ll fight him! I’ll prove to you guys that I can take care of my own bouts and don’t need that old lady here.” growled Kuwabara.

‘I won’t let anything happen to you…never.’ he thought.

“Oh dear, doesn't he know about Genkai's death yet?” Hiei said, not loud enough for Kuwabara or you to hear.

“...Guess not.” Kurama said, looking on a bit worried.

Hiei turned to Yusuke, who had a serious look on his face.

“Yusuke, why didn't you tell him?” Hiei asked, before muttering towards their leader. “I would have told him earlier had I known.”

Hiei didn’t think it was a good idea to keep such a secret from Kuwabara, and would have told him just so he knew exactly why those monsters needed to be killed. Yusuke didn’t answer but looked on as his friend headed towards the ring. The elder Toguro jumps down from his brother's shoulder and faces Kuwabara across the arena.

The crowd began their popular chant of kill as the two stared at each other in the middle of the ring.

‘I gotta take the initiative!! I'll astound them with my deadly techniques!! If I don’t…then I’ll let down the team, Urameshi…and (YAFN)-chan…’ Kuwabara thought.
