Chapter 3

Chapter 3

“What are these markings?” Yusuke asked. Kurama traced them with his slender fingers.

“Wards, magical writing that is no doubt in place to prevent our entry.” Botan whipped out her pocket computer. “Let’s see.”

She inputted the symbols and initiated a search for anti-spells. From another pocket she extricated a container and paint brush. She dipped the brush in the clear liquid inside the container.

“What’s that for?”

“I’m going to place temporary marking over the wards, Yusuke. They should render Cerdana’s magic inactive. The liquid is water. It will purify the dark magics present here for a while.”

“I didn’t know you knew so much about this kind of thing.”

“Maybe you don’t know a lot of things about me.” Botan retorted.

“I guess so.” Yusuke replied, feeling a bit guilty.

Kurama frowned slightly. They really should be closer to Botan. She was their friend and she was part of the team. The redhead found himself desiring to know more about her. Intrigued by Botan’s newly revealed skills, Kurama watched the deity closely. His deep forest green eyes focused on her hands, which were painting the necessary script over the door. The strokes she made were fluid in ain an alphabet foreign to the kitsune.

When Botan had finished, she stepped back. “Kurama, would you please try the door for me?”

“Of course.” He reached for the latch, impressed when the door swung open effortlessly. “Well done,” he complimented.

Botan found it hard to look directly into Kurama’s emerald eyes. Instead she bowed her head to hide her flushed cheeks.

“Stop flirting.” Yusuke teased.

Botan slapped Yusuke, instantly recovering from her blush. “We were not flirting Yusuke.”

The blue haired deity stormed into the room, with Kurama at her heels. He looked down and what he saw made him nervous. He grabbed the ferry girl by the arm. “Botan, there are more markings on the floor.”

As soon as Kurama placed both feet in the room, Botan and he were thrown forward. The large door slammed in Yusuke’s face. Botan was up on her feet in less than a second. She ran to the door and banged her small fists against it.

“Yusuke! Get us out! Help, Yusuke!”

Kurama stood after regaining his bearings. Once on his feet he became disoriented. His head swam for a moment. When the strange moment passed, the fox demon moved behind Botan. He wrapped one arm firmly around her waist, and the other held his hand to her mouth. She screamed into his palm.

“Botan, its me, you have to be quiet, we don’t want Cerdana to know we are here.” She began to struggle against him, and that was when he noticed his voice sounded strange. Also, the girl he held had gotten shorter, or else he had gotten taller. He was momentarily confused but upon seeing silver strands of hair falling in his eyes instead of crimson, he let Botan go.

“Shit.”

Botan spun around, purple eyes wide with shock and fear. “Yoko Kurama!”

She was about to scream again, her fear increasing upon facing the legendary demon thief. It was short lived. A husky female voice spoke loudly and suddenly.
“Don’t be frightened Little Death. The fox won’t harm you. I’m the one you should worry about.“

Botan practically leapt into Kurama’s strong arms. He patted her lightly to calm her.

“You’ve caught us Cerdana, what now?”

“Now, Kurama, I play.” She laughed. “Do you know how beautiful you are? As a human or demon. I decided I wanted to see what you looked like in this form. Don’t you think him handsome Botan?”

As Cerdana spoke, Yoko Kurama sought out the direction in which her voice originated. His sharp, golden eyes flitted over the witch’s treasures and landed on the wall directly across from him. His eyes narrowed at the intercom attached there, just below a small camera.

“Ah, my clever kitsune, you have spotted my security camera. I can see you, but you cannot see me. If you haven’t yet guessed, the scroll is not in that room. I know to keep something that precious close to me.”

Kurama growled lowly. “Enough chatter, what are your intentions? You have trapped us and transformed me.”

“As I said, I desire to play.” She paused. “That’s a very pretty ferry girl you have with you. Such lovely hair, all blue like the sky. Is she special to you?”

“That’s none of your business, she’s none of your business.” Kurama was beginning to lose his cool.

“You are trespassing here, I’ve made you my business. I take back my promise from earlier, I will not harm her, but perhaps you shall.”

“What are you talking about? I would never touch Botan in anger.”

“I said you may, but I think she’d enjoy what I have in mind. I would.”

A mist appeared above Kurama’s silver crowned head. It wafted into his face, he breathed it in before he noticed it was there. By now, Botan had relinquished her hold on him. Even without her in his arms, Kurama began to feel warm, his flesh growing hot. The mist’s enchantment set his alabaster skin on fire, and when he glanced a Botan, desire spread through his body along with the heat.

Botan became partially aware of his distress. “What’s wrong Kurama?”

The attraction he’d always felt towards her grew, bringing his animal nature to the forefront. The instinct to breed became desperate. His rational mind was being overtaken by his need. Like the sly fox he is, the youko stalked closer to Botan. Her confusion showed on her face when he gripped her arms and walked her backwards until she was pressed up against the wall beside the camera. His face went to her collarbone, he sniffed slowly from it to her neck, tickling her.

“Kurama, what are you doing?” His face was now buried in her hair and when his hot bh reh reached her ear, a tingling formed at the base of her spine. Her eyelids fluttered.

He shuddered. “Want. I need. The heat is unbearable Botan.”

“She must have cast a spell.” His hand crept under her shirt to touch her belly.

“Stop! She’s manipulating you.”

Her plea didn’t reach him. Nipping her ear with his teeth, he rubbed her abdomen lightly. His leg inserted itself between her thighs, spreading her feet apart on the floor. This allowed his body to adhere to Botan’s. She felt a pressure form in her stomach when his tongue touched the skin underneath her earlobe.

“Kurama, whatever it is you think we’re doing, we can’t. Neither of us really wants it. Cerdana is just influencing your thoughts and actions.” She pleaded with him, hoping he would come to his senses and be silent, passive Kurama again.

When he opened his mouth beneath her chin, sucking on the highly sensitive flesh above her pulse point, she realized that she did want it. Still, she’d rather have him willing and not enchanted. She couldn’t give in. Desperately she tried to hold onto her conviction, but the silver haired kistune was making it really hard.
