Chapter 3
MAJOR EMO ALERT...

Why do I smell blood...? Yoko quickened his steps and stopped outside Suichi's door. That idiot...is he trying to kill himself again? he thought crossly as he picked the lock.
Yoko got halfway across the room before he remembered his promise. With an impatient growl at the smug look on Suichi's face the fox pulled out his rose whip. The smugness turned to horror but Yoko merely knocked the razor from Suichi's fingers. He then wrapped it gingerly around the redhead's mangled arm so he could see the damage.
He wasn't trying to die...then what...? "What were you doing, Suichi...?"
Suichi tugged at his arm and winced as the thorns scratched him but only said, "Let me go."
Yoko obliged, but snatched the razor blade up off the floor before tucking the whip away. "Clearly you weren't trying to kill yourself again, so what...?"
"Why do you care!?" Suichi snapped. "You don't know..."
"And how do you know that's true!?" Yoko snapped back. Suichi blinked, and the fox sighed. He turned his back to Suichi to get tissues from the box near the bed. "You think you're the only one in the world who's ever been chased after?" he said quietly. "The only difference between you and me is that I can get away. I can fight back, so I've only ever been caught once." He held out his hand. "Now come on. Give me your arm." Suichi didn't move, watching the fox warily. Yoko sighed again. "You're bleeding on my carpet." Suichi glanced at the ground and then back at Yoko. the fox saw his mouth twitch in what was almost a smile before the redhead complied.
"Why do you try so hard for me to like you?" Suichi asked quietly a moment later.
Yoko didn't answer right away, choosing his words carefully. "Maybe because I admire you," he said finally. "Maybe it's because I know that were I in your position I would have ended it a long time ago, so I admire you for clinging so stubbornly to what has to have been a miserable existence.
"So why did you save me?" Suichi demanded.
"Because you are stronger than that, stronger than this," Yoko growled, nodding at Suichi's arm. "I am a coward, Suichi. The thing I am most afraid of in this entire world is getting hurt. And part of what makes you so beautiful, Suichi, is your refusal to let anything break you. And, Suichi, trust me. You can slash your wrists all you like; it will never do anything to diminish your beauty." He met the boy's eyes. "That is what you were trying for, isn't it?"
"Y-yes..." Suichi said, rather sheepishly.
Yoko had to fight himself, fight the urge to pull the redhead into his arms. Reluctantly he let go of Suichi's wrist. "I know you're upset and afraid, Suichi, and you have every right to be. And you also have every right to a shoulder to cry on, to a friend. If you'd just-let yourself trust me, even just a little...I want to help you, Suichi, but you have to let me in first!"
"I don't--"
"And don't try and say you don't want my help," Yoko cut in. "Maybe you don't, but you need someone's help and since I'm the only one offering it might as well be mine. You've been suffering on your own for so long that I can see you're starting to fall apart."
Suichi suddenly looked tired. He heaved a long sigh, closing his eyes. "Maybe you're right," he whispered. "I don't know that I can, but I'll try to have a little more faith in you, Yoko. You've been so kind to me and I've been less than a stellar house guest, I know. I-I'm sorry."
"You are beautiful, Suichi," Yoko murmured, "but that doesn't mean I'd ever touch you. The difference between me and everyone else is that I can control myself. From me, the words should be a compliment, not a threat. I won't ever hurt you, Suichi." The only thing I want you for isn't what you think it is. My body craves you, yes, but only to hold you in my arms and call you mine...if only you'd believe me if I tried to tell you that...
