Book 3 - Fight

Chapter 1

I can handle most things that come my way. I really can. I can handle him not talking to me, avoiding conversation. He’s not a talkative being. And really, I can handle him insulting Yusuke’s humanity. But this. This is too much. This is betrayal, at it’s utmost.

Mukuro

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The woman, Amaya, was asleep when he heard the knock at the door of their apartment. The black-haired fire demon, Jaganshi Hiei, sat up in the bed, annoyed at the intrusion to their sleep. He growled as he went to answer the door, wrapping his short muscular form in a towel. He didn’t mind being nude around Amaya, but he did mind the rest of the world.

“Who in the hell comes here without calling first? No one ever comes here.”

He grumbled again at the intrusion as he looked back at the sleeping girl on the bed, next to where he had just been. He smirked; remembering it had been him that had worn her out; first with a long, hard workout and an even longer lovemaking session afterwards. Even he was still tired, but answered the door, letting his human woman sleep.

He opened the door to the apartment, not bothering to peer out to see who it was. That was a mistake. He stepped back as a red-haired demon walked in the room, it’s face partially covered by bandages.

“What do you want Mukuro?”

She smiled banefully, her half-covered face betraying her intentions.

“I came to see you Jaganshi. I hear you are making a happy little home with that little human of yours. Came to check up on you.”

“It is none of your business what I do, Mukuro. I am not under your control.”

“I know that, but you can tell me Jaganshi. Is she doing it for you? You know. Slobbing the knob, taking all she can. She is only human after all. Can a human really take care for ‘all’ of your needs?"

The fire demon stepped back, not liking the tone of the conversation. He glared at the other demon, pure, controlled anger rising into his eyes.

“You need to leave.”

“I know she isn’t doing you right. You know she isn’t doing you right.”

“You know nothing. Get out.”

“Fine Hiei. Just remember, when you feel like taking back your rightful place next to me, the you know where to find me.”

She leaned forward, taking him by the shoulders and kissing him, hard and heavy.

“Goodbye Hiei.”

She smiled as he pushed her away at the shoulders, disgusted. Mukuro looked behind the angry demon to see Amaya backing into the hallway, a look of loathing and rage on her face.

I saw him kiss her. Both of them will pay for that.

I fought back tears. Hiei kissed Mukuro. He said he left her, he was done with her.

I was his, as he was mine. That is what he had told me.

I crawled back into bed and pretended to sleep as he came back into our room and dressed. I felt a light kiss on my cheek before I heard him leave a few minutes later. I cried silently for a few minutes, letting some of the anger take over. I knew I needed to find him.

I needed to confront him.

His actions would not and could not go unpunished.

I rose and dressed in my training clothes, simple gi pants and blue tank top, so he would know I was ready for a fight. I knew where to find him, Yusuke’s. He went there once in a while to brood in front of Kurama. I would go there, because this would not go unanswered.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Hiei sat in the window, ignoring the poker game being played behind him. He literally did not feel like dealing with anyone right now, but came here only because of the view from the window and because Kurama was as close as he had to what he considered a friend. From the window, he could see the forests and mountains outside the city and that alone comforted him when Amaya couldn’t. He wanted her comfort right then.

He felt guilty about something that was out of his control and that bothered him. He knew he needed to make it right. He just didn’t know how to go about it. He couldn’t talk to Kurama about this and Yusuke would be the closest to good advice, but he wasn’t that open with him. Yusuke’s relationship with Keiko was different.

Either way, none of them really knew the full extent of his relationship with Amaya. They thought he lived out in the forests, not that he lived with Saikoubi. They had no clue how their relationship came about. They didn’t know how it had changed more than six months ago. Besides, he didn’t want to let the world know his true weaknesses, His Love and His Sister.

He sensed her close by. They were connected deeply enough he knew where she was most of the time. She was within a few feet of the door and he knew it was her, but it was altered somehow. The difference didn’t register enough for him to even look up. He loved her, but didn’t feel like dealing with anything right now.

Kurama did look up, for it took a minute for him to figure out who it was. He felt anger coming from her as she approached, and chalked it up to her being very mad at someone. He warned them of her presence, barely looking up from his cards. He looked at Kuwbara, with Yukina behind him, wondering what he was going to do, as it was his turn.

“Kazuma, shouldn’t you use those cards with the big letter ‘A’ on them? Those are aces, aren’t they?”

There was a collective groan as everyone threw their cards in the middle of the table.

Yusuke smiled at the ice apparition as Amaya walked in the door. They all looked up, feeling the energy literally coming off the woman in waves. She was a type of spirit detective, and could control her energies better than that. Both Botan and Koenma knew something was up, something was wrong. Even Keiko felt something, plain old women’s intuition working for her.

As the blue-haired ren-kai operative walked in she zeroed in on the fire demon, eyes narrowed. She strode over to the window where he sat, looking out and trying to ignore her. Her eyes and aura flashed in anger, her target plain to everyone in the room. Kurama even shuddered, scooting himself closer to the others as the small human snapped at the demon in the window.

“We need to talk.”

It was said so calmly that, when Hiei turned and looked at her, he knew instantly she was out for his blood.

“Not right now Saikoubi.” He turned away quickly, knowing she was angry, and her apparent target was him.

“Now, Jaganshi. Right Now.”

“No.”

His voice was as calm as hers, but he was trying very hard to not look at her. He would not show the others that she would make him lose his control. It was hard as hell to do, but he would not look her in the eye.

She walked a few more paces forward, close enough he was in arms reach and turned her body toward him. He continued to look away, too proud for his own good. His pride set her off, fueling her rage even more.

“I don’t give a damn, Hiei. You’re coming with me. Now!”

With that, she reached out and grabbed a handful of red tank top at the neck, twisting her wrist to make sure he couldn’t get away easily. He pulled him off of the windowsill, dragging the compact fire demon out the door. He was shocked as she went out the door, his Jagan eye picking up the color of her aura, bright, blood red. On the edges, were hints of green, meaning anger and jealousy.

As he followed her by force, he also saw something that wasn’t quite right; a demonic aura that well matched his.

And he wondered just what the hell was going on.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Kurama, Kuwbara, Botan, Yusuke, Keiko, Yukina and Koenma all watched the exchange between the short human and the taller fire demon, both in amusement and confusion.

They were all silent until Kurama spoke, smirking to himself, shaking his head as he dealt the cards. “That poor demon, he is about to realize the wrath of a woman scorned”.

Botan nodded as she picked up her cards, sorting the deal to work to her advantage. “Yeah, but Go Amaya. She didn’t take no for an answer did she?”

Yusuke shook his head. “She didn’t look too happy with him. I hope she doesn’t hit as hard as Keiko.”

Keiko responded by hitting him in the back of the head. Yukina watched with a worried expression and hoping Hiei was all right.

Koenma looked up from his cards, taking the pacifier in his mouth and speaking seriously. “Whatever is going to happen to him is going hurt more than 1000 spankings.”

Kuwbara, never missing a chance to get one on Hiei summed it up in one sentence.

“Hiei got dragged out by a girl!”
