"First Date"

Yay! I'm really happy to see so many of you reviewing my story. Thank you all so very much. *Bows politely* (don't ask why, but I do this in real life, and a lot of people think me strange for it... meh.)

Hah-hah, tinyteeth! I've shown you, because I don't have my plushies yet... oh... I just mad myself sad, but I'll probably get them after payday. Woo-hoo! Go working! Wait.

BlueUtopiah, you'll see what the note meant soon enough.

Oh, Shuichi Shindou, don't cry.

Carnito's silly.

I should warn you, jicky, there are some weird twists that don't come in for a few chapters, but they make sense when you look back at them.

Sorry, there will be a lemon, but it won't be for a long time. There is mention of sex a lot though.

Chapter 3: "First Date"

*****

“Kurama also asked me to give you this,” she held out a slip of paper to him.
Hiei looked at the message: ‘Sunday, 3:30 A.M.’.
“Hn,” he smiled.

*****

All Saturday Hiei couldn’t figure out what to do until three the next morning. He wanted to go see Kurama, but he didn’t want him to feel like he was keeping an eye on him, even though he really did want to.

The business man chewed on his lower lip incessantly as he waited in his black Mercedes outside the strip club. He was thinking about the tabloids and if they spotted him outside the seedy building waiting for a stripper, a male stripper, to get out of work.

“Hey, baby, looking for some fun?”

“No, but get in anyway,” Hiei shook his head at the redhead. He looked even more glorious with his hair lightly framing his face with a pale blue sweater that hung low with a slight view of his chest and fitted jeans.

Kurama put his hand on Hiei’s thigh as he leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheek, “I’m glad you’re feeling better.”

“I didn’t realize that I was sick.”

“Did you get the necklace?”

“Yes, why did you have it?”

“I guess you were already past drunk, but you told me you were out of cash and insisted that I take the necklace.”

“Thank you.”

“For what?”

“Giving it back.”

“I knew you would kill me if I didn’t,” Kurama chuckled.

“You know me too well, but I don’t think that I know anything about you.”

“Hm?”

“I don’t know anything about you.”

“You know plenty about me. I’m a male stripper, I try to hide the fact that I’m gay by pretending to be a girl, I love and fear my boss, Karasu, and I really, really, like you,” he leaned in close to kiss Hiei on the lips.

“Mm,” he pulled away quickly.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing, I remember what you said last night about kissing.”

“Hiei,” Kurama purred, and leaned in closer again, pushing Hiei against his window before fiercely kissing him on the lips.

“Stop it, okay?” Hiei looked away as Kurama sat back in his seat.

“I don’t understand you, Hiei. You say you’re not into men, but you respond to my every touch. You say you don’t want to talk, but you keep coming to me and opening up. You let me kiss you but afterwards ask me to stop? So, tell me, Hiei, how do you feel right now?”

“I thought that…”

“No, I didn’t ask for your thoughts, I’m asking how you feel right now.”

“I feel like kissing you.”

“That’s all you need to understand,” Kurama closed the gap between their lips again, running his hand up and down Hiei’s chest.

“But I don’t feel that way. It’s not fair.”

“Hiei,” Kurama let out a sigh of frustration, “that is what Karasu likes to say, that’s not my belief. If I feel like kissing you I’m going to kiss you, and if you feel like kissing me, you better kiss me now, damn it!”

The young men stared at one another for a little bit before the shorter one leaned in partially, signaling the other that it was okay. The kiss was very long and meaningful to both parties as their tongues twined and danced together, Hiei’s hands never leaving the redhead’s shoulders while Kurama's hands fondled every muscle above the waist, not wanting to scare his new partner off.

“Where else can we go?” Hiei asked breathlessly.

“There’s a movie theater a few blocks from here, it shows pornography at this time and are usually empty. We could get a show and have some fun at the same time.”

“I don’t think I’d be comfortable in a theater.”

“You should try it,” Kurama whispered softly into Hiei’s ear, breathing on him intentionally.

“I don’t think so,” Hiei growled.

“Come on,” Kurama hooked his finger under Hiei’s chin, lifting it so their eyes met soon followed by their lips.

“No,” Hiei simply said.

“Then, how about we go to…” Kurama pushed Hiei into the window and hovered over him, “your place?”

Raising an eyebrow, but keeping his expression clear, Hiei stated, “No.”

“So, why did you come for me if you don’t want to go anywhere or do anything?” the redhead sighed, pulling away.

“…I don’t really know…”

“Okay,” Kurama laughed nervously, “So what should we do? Sit here and talk?”

“That sounds good.”

“Oh, great, so we’re talking all night?” Kurama sighed, exacerbated.

“I-I guess.”

“Fine, whatever.”

“…”

“You said you wanted to talk,” the redhead closed his eyes in confusion, “so talk.” Hiei didn’t want him for his body, and he obviously had money to spare, so what else was there?

“Are you hungry? We can go get some breakfast at the diner on the corner,” he started the car up.

“Yeah, I could deal with some food,” Kurama nodded.

“You look good in that,” Hiei finally mumbled out on their drive to the diner.

“You mean with clothes on?” Kurama giggled softly, but Hiei could hear the deprivation of sleep behind every syllable.

“Hn,” Hiei smirked, reaching over to pat the stripper’s shoulder.

“Thank you… Oddly enough I think that that’s one of the nicest compliments I’ve received in a really long time.”

“You sound more like you need sleep than food.”

“Mm, coffee would be nice, actually,” he finally let out a yawn he had been trying to hold back.

In the diner, Hiei finally noticed the pale smooth skin of Kurama, but something about him seemed a little unhealthy, a slight yellowing of his skin and bags forming under his eyes. The bright red hair seemed to hang limply and lifelessly around his heart shaped face. But mostly, Hiei noticed the sadness deep in the large pools of emerald green.

“So, what do you like to do, Hiei?” Kurama added a lot of sugar and cream to the hot coffee.

“Nothing really… I like fighting.”

“Oh really?”

“Hn, I usually work with swords.”

“So, I shouldn’t piss you off, huh?” Kurama giggled lightly, sipping his caffeine.

“Hn, no, I don’t recommend that at all,” Hiei actually chuckled. “What about you? How do you pass the time?”

“Sleep with as many people as possible,” Kurama sighed.

Hiei actually looked surprised, which surprised Kurama, most people expected that of him and believed.

“I’m kidding. I usually read. I’d watch television, but I can’t quite afford one. So, I just go to the library a lot.”

“Are you in school?”

“No, I can’t afford to go,” a small frown creases the smooth skin.

“You should.”

“Believe me, I would if I could, but… there was no one to help support me. I’ve… I’ve been alone for a while.”

“What happened to your family, if you don’t mind me asking?” Hiei ordered his food quickly.

“I’ll have the three cheese omelet with a side of bacon and pancakes, please,” Kurama asked politely.

“Of course darling,” the blonde smiled sweetly before bounding off.

“Um, actually… I’d prefer if we didn’t talk about my family.”

“Hn.”

There was a rather uncomfortable silence.

“Um, sorry… it’s just that I haven’t talked about them in a long time, and I’d rather keep it that way.”

“At least you had one,” Hiei huffed under his breath.

“What happened to your parents? Are you adopted?”

“Yes.”

“So you don’t have anyone other than Yukina?”

“No.” He had forgotten he’d told Kurama about his sister.

“You can have me,” Kurama smiled, “I think that we both need it.”

“I don’t need anyone,” the shorter man grunted.

“Then why are we here?” Kurama asked smugly, raising an eyebrow.

“Because…”

“That’s a good answer,” Kurama giggled.

“Shut up,” he rolled his crimson eyes.

“Thank you,” the waitress nodded, and Kurama looked over his breakfast for a second before devouring half of it in a split second.

“Hn,” Hiei watched in amazement as the slim beauty shoveled fork after forkful of food into his mouth. Where the hell did it all go in that slim figure? Hiei just couldn’t figure it out.

“What?” Kurama barely lifted his head to ask Hiei what he was staring at with his mouth half full of food.

“Uh-huh,” Hiei tried hard not to laugh at the scene. The redhead looked so sweet, innocent, and young all at once with wide bewildered eyes. “Um, so, what kind of books do you like to read?” he tried to get his mind of the adorable look.

“I don’t know. I think that I’ve read almost half the library by now. I read everything from mystery books to cook books and a lot of languages.”

“Are you fluent in any other languages?”

“Hm, I can speak Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, a little German, and I’ve started learning Italian.”

“And you work as a stripper?”

“Hm, what can I say? I fell into the wrong crowd. What is it that you do? Are you a lawyer?”

“No, not exactly. I deal with businesses,” Hiei drank his coffee, deeply.

“What kind?”

“Whatever I can get and then break into smaller pieces and sell off at three times more than they’re worth.”

“Sounds like a family business.”

“Yes, we both know so much about those.”

“We have more in common than I thought.”

“Apparently.”

“Is it so wrong to have something in common with such a lowly stripper, Mr. Jaganshi?” Kurama finally said his name, even if it was with a demeaning tone behind it.

“No, nothing at all, Mr. Minamino.”

“Ah…” he gasped, letting the food fall from his fork.

“Yes, I remember your name.”

“I thought you were drunk.”

“Yes, but that was one thing that I had been wanting to know, so I guess my mind retained it for me.”

“Please, forget it if you can. I know I’d rather.”

“Why? It’s not such a horrible name.”

“Yes, I know. It’s more about the memories behind it. Look, I told you that I didn’t want to talk about my family, so if you don’t mind…”

“Hn, it’s up to you.”

“Thank you.”

“What else have you learned from reading so many books?”

“I can cook quite a few meals. I know a lot about the deadliest weapons from Japan, and I was very interested in all kinds of precious stones for a while.”

The rest of the meal was just as equally nonsexual, and Hiei found this very surprising. He had been waiting for the redhead to jump, grope, or kiss him at some point in the diner, but it never came. Of course once they stepped into the car, Kurama had his tongue down Hiei’s throat once more, as if looking for remnants of the meal.

“Just drop me off at the club, I have to go pick up my clothes,” he kissed Hiei on the lips softly.

“Yeah, sure. Um, I –I was wondering, would you… would you like to have lunch on Monday?”

“Like a date?” Kurama smirked.

“N-no, just lunch.”

“Sorry, I have plans, how about Tuesday?”

“Lunch meeting, Wednesday?”

“Yeah, I think I can make it. Here,” he quickly pulled out a card, and wrote on the back of it, “this is my cell, just call me, and tell me where you want to meet.” One last kiss, and Kurama was out of the car.

“Um… great,” the business man tried hard not to let his smile show.

*****

“What do you mean in Japan, Touya?” Hiei demanded of the hands free phone.

“You’re needed in Japan to finish off one of the deals there. It’s in a couple months, so you have plenty of time to get ready. Do you want me to find a translator?”

“… Actually I think that I might know somebody…”

“If you say so,” Touya sighed. He was glad that he didn’t have to go with him like when they had gone to Ireland, although he did get a boyfriend… but dealing with Hiei for almost a week straight was more than he could stand. If it hadn’t been for the red haired distraction he might have killed Hiei himself. The man could be so demanding sometimes, and even when everything was perfect, he continued to question if something was wrong.

*****

“Hiei!” the alto voice cried for joy over the phone.

“How did you know?”

“Who else would call from an unknown number?”

“Telemarketer?”

Kurama giggled, “You’re so silly.”

“Hn, no one’s ever called me that before.”

“Why? You’re funny.”

“Call me whatever you like. When and where shall I pick you up tomorrow?”

“Let’s see, I don’t think that you would want to be seen in front of a strip club, so how about outside the diner we had breakfast at?”

“Hn.”

“At 1:00?”

“I can’t pick you up until 1:30.”

“Okay, I’ll see you there. What are you up to?”

“I just found out that I have to go to Japan in about two months.”

“Oh, for how long?” there was a sad tone in his voice that Hiei didn’t miss.

“About a week, if things go smoothly.”

“Oh…”

“Hn. I have a meeting I have to get to. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Alright… um, take care, and good luck."

"Good luck?"

"With your meeting, silly."

"Oh... right... thanks, good bye."
