It was a normal day, in Japan. Everything went well until a ball bounced into the road. He chased it. A fast car came zooming down the street. There was a loud gasp before the car hit a body. Soon sirens were heard as an ambulance pulled up next to the red car. Two men came out and checked the body.
“Nothing we can do for this one. How is he?” one said to the other as he checked the other.
“He has nothing but a few scratches.” They pulled out a stretcher and placed the body on it. “Let’s go.”
This was the scene Yusuke saw from the air. ‘What happened?’ she thought. ‘Tis is different! Okay, think, Urameshi! Let’s see. The day did start out different. I went to school’
*****
The school bells rang as a voice sounded over the loud speaker. “Yusuke Urameshi, please come to Mr. Takenaka’s office. Yusuke, I know you’re here.”
Keiko made her way up the stairs and too the roof. She looked around and spotted Yusuke sitting against the fence. “Hey, Keiko.” She said, “Nice uniform.” Keiko blushed. Her skirt was too loose and not being held up well by the belt.
“All the girls have to wear these. You too, Yusuke!” She said snatching some of Yusuke’s gum from her hand.
“Give me a break, Keiko, I look better in green. And skirts are annoying.” Keiko turned away.
“You have to wear the right uniform and attend school, or else it goes on your record and I get in trouble as a class representative. Are you listening to me?” She shouted, turning around. Yusuke was gone.
“Kirbys?” Yusuke was behind her. She spun around quickly, slapping her.
“Yusuke, you perv!” She screamed. Yusuke got up from the floor. “People like you should be strung up in the street!”
Keiko walked down the stairs as her friends came from around the corner. “Keiko? Is she gone?”
“Why are you hiding?” she asked.
“B-because we’re scared of the great Urameshi. Aren’t you afraid of what she might do to you? Or worse, what people might say of it?”
“No, not really.” She said to them. “She just wants you to think she is dangerous.”
“Have you heard the latest news? She kills for fun and if you cross her, she would just whistle and 200 bad guys would show up.” Keiko laughed.
“Please! I doubt Yusuke even knows how to whistle.” She said laughing.
“Not what we heard.” One said smugly. The other nodded.
“Yeah, I think we would know.” Keiko sighed.

Yusuke walked out to the side of the gym and overheard a conversation. “No way man! You mean he just gave it to you?” One of them said to his companion who was holding a wallet.
“Yup. He pickpicking on me so I just told him I was Urameshi’s cousin.”
“What are ya gonna do if Urameshi finds out you said that cousin thing?” He asked as the other boy scoffed. “She’ll kill you.”
“She’ll spare me! That bimbo will probably think it’s true.” They began to laugh until they noticed Yusuke standing right behind them. They stood up and backed up against a wall. “I swear I didn’t mean it! Here! Take it!” He said holding out the wallet.
Yusuke slammed her fist against the wall, startling them. “You think I want your stupid money?” She raised her fist to hit them.
“Yusuke! Put down that fist!” She heard a voice call out.
“It’s Iwamoto!” Said the first boy.
“It’s all right, you’re safe now. What happened?” He asked. They looked down and Yusuke turned away.
“Nothing, we’re fine.” Said the other boy. Mr. Iwamoto looked and saw the wallet on the ground.
“I see. Urameshi was beating you two up for lunch money. Typical scum behavior.” He said smiling evilly at Yusuke.
“Excuse me?!” She said turning to look at him.
“No good weeds like you don’t belong here.” He said with hatred on every word.
“You shouldn’t talk, it makes you sound stupid.” Yusuke said. She glared at the boys and walked off.

Yusuke headed out the front gates and sighed. She pulled out another piece of gum and popped it into her mouth, before someone punched the back of her head, and made her spit it out. “All right! Somebody’s dead!” Yusuke growled, before turning around to see the principal. “Oh. Gomen, old man.”
“That’s Mr. Takenaka, to you, Mrs. Urameshi. I’ve been calling to you all morning on the loud speaker.”
“Didn’t hear it. Must not be so loud, ne?” she said smugly while turning around. He rubbed his knuckles into her head.
“I noticed you’re leaving.” He said as she pushed his hand off.
“Yeah, I got kicked out!” Yusuke said between clenched teeth.
“Is that a fact?” Takenaka gra grabbing her ear. “Let’s dis its it in my office. We’ll have teThe The weight he was dragging got lighter. He soon noticed he was only holding an ear. Takenaka gasped and fell on his butt. Yusuke laughed from the top of the wall.
“It’s just a toy old man. Thanks for the visit. Now leave me alone!” She said jumping down and walking off.
‘Yusuke, Wait!”

“I hate this town.” She said as she opened the door to her house. He mother was sitting in bed, smoking. “Let me guess. Mother of the year?”
“Get me coffee.” She said rubbing her aching head.
“Can’t believe she is still in bed.” Yusuke mumbled as she put some water on the stove. Atsuko lit up a cigarette and turned on the TV.
“Shouldn’t you be in school?” She asked emotionlessly. Yusuke growled and turned to her mother.
“I left because they pissed me off!” she said forcefully, but Atsuko didn’t show any response.
“Dear, if you don’t like it, then maybe you should get a job.” Atsuko said before focusing on the television.
“Are you gonna preach too, mom?” Yusuke was pissed. Atsuko was ignoring her!
*****
Yusuke kicked a can and stomped down the road. Those around her knew not to mess with her. “I swear could this day get any worse!” She shouted to no one. Speak of the devil, three boys surrounded her. Her eyes narrowed at the fourth walking up to her.
“Urameshi.” It was Kuwabara. He just wouldn’t listen.
“Hey, Kuwabara, you’re conscious. Not used to that.” She smirked. Kuwabara scowled and grabbed her uniform.
“Shut Up! That was a cheap shot last time and I was knocked out for a little bit, okay?! This time I’m gonna beat you up so bad, Kittens won’t look at you!” He said as tough as possible, but Yusuke wasn’t fazed.
“I’m so sorry, you caught me on a bad day,” She began. She grabbed his arms and kicked his jaw. “It makes me a real BITCH!” She said as she literally rammed his head into the street. She let go of him and began walking away. “Thanks. I feel better.”
When Yusuke was out of sight, Kuwabara’s friends rushed around him. “Kuwabara, maybe you should just give it up. That’s 100 wins for her.” Kuwabara got up, despite the pain.
“Never! I will beat her, someday.” He promised before collapsing on the ground.

‘Okay now I met that kid…’
*****
Yusuke, after walking far, came upon a boy bouncing a soccer ball next to the road. When the ball rolled to her feet, she bent down and picked it up. The boy came running up to her. “May I have my ball back?” He asked. Yusuke frowned and knelt down to his size.
“Listen kid, It’s dangerous to play so close to the streets!” She almost yelled. The kid began to cry. Yusuke covered her face with the ball and uncovered her face in a very silly position. The kid began to laugh.
People stood and whispered as Yusuke began to walk around making silly faces and noises. The boy laughed and clapped happily. Yusuke smiled. ‘At least I can make kids happy.’ She thought. She handed the ball back to the boy. “Now get outta here.” She said as he bounced his ball. She crossed the street and looked back to the kid. He was still playing too close to the street. ‘Stupid kid!’ she thought ‘ he can get run over, for all I care!’ she thought, but she knew it wasn’t true. The boy bounced his ball right into the middle of the street. As he stepped on the street, a red car came around the corner, going very fast. “HEY, WATCH OUT, KID!” She screamed and ran to stop him from getting hurt.
“Hey watch out!” came a voice from inside the car. Just as the car was about to hit the boy, Yusuke pushed the child off the street and flew over the car.
***** (A/N) I dun remember this part so bear with me)
Yusuke continued floating and thinking. ‘if that’s me down there, than who am I up here? Could it mean…’ “I’m A Ghost!” She said the last part aloud.
“Bingo, Bingo! You win the prize! I didn’t expect you to figure it out so quickly.” said a cheery voice from behind her. Yusuke turned around to see a girl with blue hair and a pink kimono sitting on an oar. Yusuke just stared.
“Who are you?!” The pink haired girl stopped smiling and looked at Yusuke.
“Botan is my name! Pilot of the River Styx. I believe in your world, they call me the Grim Reaper. Ring any bells?” She asked smiling.
“The Grim Reaper? A pretty girl, like you? You should be a skeleton! How Grim can you be when you say Bingo?” Yusuke asked disbelieveingly. Botan giggled.
“Well I’m not sure if that’s a compliment nd ind insult!” Botan got serious. “Yusuke Urameshi. Age 14. You are usually rude, impolite and very irritable.” She repeated out of a book she had in her sleeve.
“Now that you’re done picking, I’d like to see the kid I saved.” Yusuke said. Botan nodded and headed to the hospital. They peeked inoughough to the window where the boy was sitting on his mother’s lap. The doctor was sitting across from them. “He only has a few scrapes.” The mother hugged her son.
“Thank god!” She cried holding her son closer. Yusuke began to feel sad that she could not remember her own mother.
“Okay, Botan, you can just take me to hell or where ever I’m going. I’ve got no regrets.”
“Well, that’s why I’m here. We haven’t really prepared a place for you yet.” Yusuke’s eyes went wide.
“Oh, come on! You mean you were expecting that boy to die?!” Yusuke asked, outraged. Botan sighed
“Well, I wasn’t going to tell you this, because I knew it would make you more irritable. But we weren’t expecting anyone to die. So basically your death was a complete and utter waste!” She said smiling. Yusuke began to fall to the earth. “Surprised? Yes, I knew you would be!” Yusuke came back quickly and growled and Botan. “Now the reason I’m here is to give you a second chance. A test to live again.” Yusuke stopped and started floating away.
“Nah. I think I like being a ghost. Keio and the teachers can rest their mouths. My mom can party when she wants. Kuwabara will be the number one punk.” Botan followed Yusuke.
“I’m sorry you feel that way at such a young age.” She said sorrowfully and Yusuke turned to her.
“Yeah, well you said so yourselhad had nothing going for me!” Yusuke almost shouted. But Botan didn’t seem to mind.
“How about I comeback after you have had time to think, at your wake.” She began to float away. “I’ll come back when you decide.” She said before disappearing all together.” Yusuke yelled at the sky.
“Do you have worms in your ears? I DID DECIDE!” ********
Yusuke decided to attend her own wake. ‘Woah all my class mates are here.’ She thought but many people looked rather happy. ‘just as I thought! They are all glad I died!’ a loud sob cam from her door. Keiko was sitting on the ground crying her eyes out.
“YUSUKE!” She sobbed. Her friends dragged her off. ‘Keiko…?’
“Let’s go, Kuwabara, this is a place of mourning!” Yusuke turned behind to see Kuwabara walking to her house, dragging his three friends.
“Damn you, Urameshi! Damn you! Where do you get off, dying? You coward! You’re supposed to be here! Who am I gonna fight!” He began to cry. “Who will I fight now? You’re supposed to be here!” He broke down, much like Keiko had, and was also dragged away, sobbing, by friends.
“Who was that?” Asked her teacher, Iwamoto, from behind him. A fellow teacher, Akashi, sneered.
“Just trash that Urameshi hung out with.” He said in a high voice. “Too bed that car wasn’t big enough for them too.” The teachers laughed.
“Now, now, we should be glad Yusuke did something to give our school a good reputation.” They began to laugh. ‘Oh, man! Even at my own wake, they knock me! If I could just…’ she reached out a hand, hoping it would grab them, when another hand grabbed their shoulders. It was Mr. Takenaka.
“What’s sadder, that girl screaming in pain or your insensitive words?” he asked harshly. He walked into Yusuke house and began to pay his respects. “Yusuke, imagine my surprise when I found out you gave your life for another child. I was so proud that you would put just a child’s life before your own… but why We could have made something greater out of you.” He began to cry. Yusuke stood behind him. When he left the house, Yusuke saw the little boy walking in with his mother. The also paid their respects.
“Thank you for saving me, and making funny faces!” the boy said. “Maybe when you are better, we can play again.” His mother grabbed his hand and led him out. Yusuke watched them head for the door. Atsuko, who had been very quiet, began to sob very loudly, Yusuke followed the little boy out into the street. “Mommy?” He asked. His mother stopped and looked at him. “Is it okay if I play with her more?” he asked.
“Oh, sweetie! I don’t think that would be a good idea.” She said starting to cry.
“Why? I know everyone thinks she might be mean, but today, she was very kind. And funny. Were they crying because they too wanted to play?” He asked. His mother began to cry and hugged her son.

Yusuke was floating over the city, when Botan reappeared. “Botan, hey?”
“Yes?” She asked. Yusuke sighed.
“Have you ever not know something that was obvious to everyone else?” She asked, replaying the memories in her head. Keiko crying, Kuwabara crying, Atsuko Crying, Takenaka crying, the mother crying. Botan floated up to her.
“That happens to us all, I suppose.” Yusuke sighed.
“Okay. I’ll take this test.” She said Botan smiled widely.
“GREAT! Grab on!” Botan as Yusuke grabbed her oar. Botan floated off into the sky with Yusuke hanging onto the back of her oar.
