The Mystery of the Time Signal
Chapter Three
WAKE UP PUP!

"You know." Suzie informing Kook, "Those three have been here since about 2:30." Suzie nods toward our three boys. "They seemed real interested in you."

"Hello Ladies," A tall man with a hat and long black silky hair lying softly on his shoulder's steps through the door. "How are you this evening?" He takes off his hat, bows toward the girls, as he stands he takes Kook's hand in his and gives it a sweet succulent kiss. "My fair Katarina." He smiles at her his skin tone and black hair set off his deep blue eyes. Kook rolls her eyes when he drops her hand and turns to Suzie. "What three, have been inquiring about my Kitty Kat." Suzie giddy as a school girl, points to the table where Kurama sits tall and sexy as he watches the people, demon and human alike, come rolling in the Triple D. He pulled Yusuke off the table and back into his chair. Yusuke lays limp and snoring. Hiei has taken his perch back at the bar. "There is only two, and they don't seem like much to worry about. Where is the third one?"

"I think he left." Kook answers as snotty as she can. "Besides, They have done nothing, so leave them alone." Kook turns with a jolt and darts over to the bar.

"Why does she hate me?" The man watches with a smile as Kook does a hissy fit across the floor.

"I don't know, Todd, she is always so weird." Suzie purrs as he pats her like a good kitty.

Kurama and Hiei both tensed when Todd came strolling through the door.

"Not Good." Kurama mutters low

"Finally, some action." Hiei smirks as he imbibes his drink.

Kurama leaves Yusuke to stroll over to the bar for some drinks. Hiei stands leaning on the bar watching the crowd. Kurama leans on the bar facing in. "Picked up in here fast." Kurama starts a conversation making sure Todd does not see them. He motions to Bronzy for a refill.

"I hadn't noticed." Hiei stated.

"Is he going to be trouble?"

"I don't know."

"Thanks," Kurama takes his order and heads back to the table where he left, a drunk, Yusuke.

"I thought that was your table?" Bronzy asks Kook. She looks over at Hiei who with a smile and nod takes another drink.

"It was, I don't have time to wait on them now, tell Patchesess to take over." Kook storms in the back.

"What is wrong with her?" Hiei asks.

"Todd is here, She always gets like this when he is around."

"Todd is her stud." What a way to put it Hiei.

Bronzy laughs. "Hell no, but I think he sure wants to be. He promoted her to night manager and gave her one hell of a fat raise. That is why she stays man. Money! It's always about the money. Besides, he only comes on ladies night. Tonight is just getting started " Todd glides up to the bar with much grace, and sits down on the end opposite of Hiei. Todd motions Bronzy and he takes off in a flash.

Kurama sits and enjoys his drink while watching the crowd around him. RING! RING! Yusuke's pocket starts chiming. Kurama reaches in a pulls out his compact phone. "Botan." He greets with a smile.

"Where is Yusuke?" Kurama flips the phone so Botan can see the sleeping slob. "What happen?"

"I am your new waitress while Kook attends to something can I get you something?" Patchesess voice squeaks.

"Hold on Botan." He lays the phone face down on his leg and looks up at Patchesess. "I will have a margarita, and he will have." Kurama points to the spot on the table where he wants her to place the drink. "Two S and B's" Patches gives him a dirty look. "He will be awake soon." Kurama snickers. "The party's just starting." He picks the phone back up. "We have a problem Botan. This girl is not the same girl in the picture."

"Yes, I know. We found out she does have two sister. One named Cess, the other Big L"

"Big L?" Kurama asks with a giggle. "That's all you can give me is Big L."

"I am sorry Kurama, but I am giving the information as fast as I am getting it. It turns out that all the records we have on this girl stops in her 12th year of life, the information we are relying on is what we get from the Message Orb. It might have been trying to tell us that one of her sisters is the mother and not her" Botan spots naked women dancing behind Kurama. "Where are you guys?"

Kurama smirks. "No where. So what now."

"We have nothing on her sisters but the names Big L and Cess. You need to tail her and see if she can lead you to them."

"We have meet Cess. She is not the one, however we can tail her, just incase."

"Good thinking Kurama and Good Luck." Botan snaps her phone shut.

More and more people flood the Triple D until it is full. A fight starts out over a table and a few people are bounced by Suzie, Kurama can feel all the demons in the room, a lot more demons then humans. The music drops and a voice booms over the speakers.

"ALRIGHT! Everyone settle down so we can get this started. As you know it's ladies night here at the Triple D." The crowd cheers. "It is also karaoke night, and the first song of the evening is going to be sung by Feph" A girl in her mid 20's jumps up and runs to the announcer. "So let's get started." With that said the announcer turns on the music. Feph does her best to mutilate the song she has picked, out of tune and off beat; she sings 'badfish' by Sublime.

"GRRRR." Kook mutters to herself. "She 'Dogged' that song."

"I agree." Hiei answers standing in hearing distance.

Kook gives a little jump and turns to see Hiei. He smiles and she smiles back, catching something out of the corner of her eye, "What the hell." Kook looks over and can see Suzie and two large guys standing over Kurama at the table. Kook takes off to see what's up.

"This is our table so these pup's need to move." Booms the larger guy. "Hey WAKE UP PUP!" He kicks Yusuke's chair. Yusuke's body does a limp jolt from the force.

"I would not wake him, if I were you." Kurama warns with a smile.

"I can take both of you on." The smaller guy says.

"BOOMER!... SCAN!" they turn to see Kook staring at them. "You two stop it, or you're out of here. GO IT!" she stands on her toes to point in Boomer's face.

"Back off Bitch." Boomer pushes her back with a finger and she stumbles to fall, Hiei catches her.
However, her face getting red and the anger building Kook did not say, thank you. Instead, she kneed Boomer in the balls. Boomer doubles over in pain as Suzie takes this opportunity to throw his ass out.

"You too, Scan, follow your buddy." Kook warns. "These PUPS, as you call them, are my friends and you are not going to threaten them again. You and Boomer can just stay away for good this time." With that, Suzie comes up from behind, snatches Scan by his shirt and tosses him out on top of Boomer. Kook looks over at Kurama. "I am sorry, they are really NOT nice guys. But that ass Todd keeps letting them back, no matter how many times I kick them out."

"They did not worry me." Kurama smiles. Just then, the door flys open and Boomer comes charging in straight for Kook. With a yawn and stretch Yusuke trips Boomer and he crashes to the floor.

"What the........" Boomer turns to see, sleeping, Yusuke is the culprit that tripped him. "Pretending to Sleep, you punk." Boomer charges for Yusuke, Kurama smacks the back of Yusuke's head, faster then anyone can see, Yusuke falls forward. Boomer flies over him. "He's not asleep." Boomer stands ready to attack again.

"I assure you, he is." Kurama smirks. "Seems, you are no match for my friend when he is sleeping. So let me advise you," Kurama looks Boomer in the eyes, "not to wake him." Kurama flips Yusuke back in a semi-sitting position.

"Are you wanting a piece of me pretty boy, or do you always run your mouth like that." Boomer booms and Scan scoots up next to him. Scan lays down on the floor where no one can see him and jerks Yusuke's chair out from under him.

THUD!

Yusuke hits the floor. Every one turns to see Yusuke on the floor and Scan holding his chair. "Nice one Scan." Boomer gives a thumbs up.

"Sounds to me," Yusuke puts a hand on the table to help himself up. Then turns, yanks his chair from Scan and scoots back up to the table. "That you are the one running your mouth." He looks at the two shots on the table then at Kurama. "For me?" Kurama nods a yes. "Cool!" Yusuke forgetting about the big ugly guys and focusing on his shots. Yusuke sits motionless for a moment preparing himself for a couple of S and B's

"Look PUP!" Boomer roars.

"You know, you should not call people pup until after," Yusuke gulps both shots and sits very still with a smile on his face, motionless.

"What the hell is wrong with you." Boomer starts toward Yusuke. Kurama and Hiei's eyes widen, he is still paralyzed from the S B shots. Boomer lunges at Yusuke. Yusuke moves left and out of the chair before Boomer came crashing down on it. Boomer lies unmoving with the chair, flat under him.

"Like I was saying," He picks boomer up by the hair to look at his face. "You shouldn't call me a pup, until after you feel my bite." Yusuke stands and with a handful of hair. "Well now you did it, Boomer Bad Boy," he heads outside, "I am getting ready to bite." Yusuke warns as he tosses Boomer like a pillow on top of a near by car. "I am giving you this chance to run with your tail between your legs." Yusuke stretches and yawns. "Because, I just had a nice nap, I am ready for a work-out and you're keeping me from all those naked ladies. Now shoo!" Yusuke motions as if shooing a dog away. Yusuke turns, confident that Boomer does not want to tangle with him, and heads back in.

"PUP!" Boomer and Scan in unison.

Yusuke turns to see Boomer and Scan standing side by side. "So, you want bitten also." He scratches his head and gives a little tilt. "OK fine, you guys want it at the same time or one-by-one." Yusuke takes off running towards them before they can answer. A thunderous blow he lands, with both hands at the same time, biting them both right in the jaw. "Same time is good for me." He yells as he lands back on earth. Yusuke stands tall, brushes himself off, kicks both limp bodies out of the way, "I am top Dog." He boasts. Yusuke goes back in and sits down by Kurama. "How come you guys didn't come watch me fight?as ras really good out there."

"We saw." Kurama answers. "Are you ready?"

"Yeah, one sec. let me get a drink." Yusuke motions for a waitress and about five run up. He falls back in his seat to get a better view of all the flesh that surrounds him. "This is what I'm Talk'en about." He mutters. Patchesess fights through the crowd and shoos away the groupies. As they scatter, Yusuke's smile fades. "That was so nice."

"What can I get you?" Patchesess asks.

"I want two Jack and cokes, I'm real thirsty." Yusuke smirks. Kurama snickers and Patches heads off to fetch. Yusuke leans back in his chair getting very comfortable to watch the show. "Ok fill me in." So Kurama begins to tell him every thing he missed during his nap.

Todd nods at two guys and they head out the door. He motions for Bronzy. "Who is that whelp?"

"I don't know. They were here when I arrived."

"You gave Kook a lift." Todd making sure. Bronzy nods a yes. "So does she know them?"

"She didn't seem to earlier."

"I see, and him," Todd gives a slight nod towards Hiei, "is he with them?"

"I don't know they all sat at the bar, when we came, those two took that table awhile back."

"For now on, what ever that whelp orders, is on the house." Todd informs Bronzy, then slides off his stool and glides past Hiei, "I am watching you." He warns Hiei and disappears behind the swinging door.

"Inane threat." Hiei scoffs, certain.

"So now we have to tail this chick and her sister." Yusuke smirks devilishly. "I get the sister."

Hiei stands and listens as the voices on the other side of the door get louder.

"You, Todd," Kook looks at him steadily in the eyes, she squints hers and continues, "King Ass." Kook stiffens her body. "You Know those two are creeps and you continuously let then back. I am done with this shit. I can get another job. If you want me to be night manager then you should let me manage, not DISH me and let that trash back in."

"Katarina......"

"Stop calling me that."

"I am sorry, those two won't be back, I promise." Todd's tone low and semi-sweet. "I will even let those FRIENDS of yours stay. That boy," Todd strolls over to Kook and places his hand on her check. "I could even give him a job, what is his name." Hiei moves closer to see through the Window.

"Bob." Kook answers.

Hiei snickers.

"Bob, very well then, I will see if Bob would like a night job."

"Do what ever you like," she pushes his hand away. "I am done, this is my last shift." She struts by him and out the door. "I am spending it on the floor, I need the tips now." She leaves Todd standing boiling with anger.

"Fool girl, I will show you who I am." Todd warns as he gains back his poise. "Finish your shift my dear," He straitens him self up, "we will see if you make it home." Todd turns to leave; Hiei quickly disappears in the crowd before Todd sees him. Todd takes his spot at the end of the bar and watches Yusuke and Kurama. Kurama sits tall and quit. While Yusuke yells obscenities making an ass of himself.

"I like this," Yusuke leans back in his chair. " Yes in deed, Kurama, I like this."

"Hey guys," Kook stands with a smile, "I am sorry about that once again, I just want to apologize."

"Why do you have clothes on?" Yusuke looking at Kook, with a dumbfounded look. She is wearing a pair of men's sleepwear pants, (PJ's), and a white Ziggy Marley T-shirt. "You have A LOT of clothes on." Yusuke confused. Why isn't this chick naked?

"I Do Not dress like the others never have, never will. I am not one of Todd's little 'Kittens' as he calls them; I am however, the best waitress you could ever ask for. So do you guys want another round or what."

"Kittens" Yusuke mutters. "I like playing with kittens." Devilish smirk.

"Yes." Kurama answers. Kook turns to fetch the drinks and runs right into Hiei. Hiei sits her down in a chair and motions for Patchesess to come over. Hiei takes the empty seat.

"What's up Hiei?" asks Yusuke.

"What can I get you?" Patchesess approaches the table.

"Eight, Soul Searchers." Hiei answers then smiles at Kook. "Wouldn't want you to start your last shift without them."

"Hey Kook," Patchesess returns, "Todd said these are on him."

"Well, Well." Yusuke takes his two shots, holds them in the air, and nods a thank you to Todd. "Wasn't that nice."

"Yeah, sure was," Kook says sarcastically, "TO LAST SHIFTS!" Kook downs both shots at once this time. The others raise their glasses and follow suit. "Thanks." Kook stands. "I will get your next round." Kook heads to the bar.

"Well?" Hiei asks when she is gone.

"Well," Yusuke starts to answer but drifts off when a waitress fly's bye. "Well," He looks at Hiei again when she is gone. "One of us has to tail the crud redhead, and one gto tto tail the pretty blond."

"And?" Hiei probing for more information.

"And," Yusuke looks at him with a smile. "I get the blond."

"Humph."

"We are looking for another sister....." Kurama starts to explain.

"Yeah," Yusuke laughs. "Wait till you hear this one." Laughs a little harder.

"Her name is," Kurama trying hard to hold back his laughter, "Big L." Hiei gives Kurama a dirty look. "I am serious. She might be the one in the picture. Botan has no other res ons on this girl then that. Big L might be the mother. We need to find her and the sooner the better."

"I will tail this one." Hiei states as Kook approaches the table. "You find out what you can on Todd." Kurama nods in understanding.

"Here you go boys." Kook gives them a round of drinks.

Kurama slides his drink over in front of Yusuke and stands. "I must go, I have something else to attend to."

"Thanks Man!" Yusuke pulls the drink closer.

" It was my pleasure." Kurama gives a slight bow to Kook.

"You too." Kook watches as Kurama leaves the building. "Do you two nanytanything else?" Kook asks.

"Yes." Hiei answers as he catches someone leaving behind Kurama. He kicks Yusuke's chair. Yusuke tumbles out and onto the floor. He jumps up ready to flatten Hiei. Hiei nods toward the door where two more guys just exited.

"You ready to go?" Hiei asks Kook.

"What do you mean?" Kook asks.

"You've already pissed your boss off, what's the point in staying."

"You know! You're right." Kook chirps, "You stay right here." She darts off toward the bar. "Give me your keys." She commands Bronzy.

"What are you talking about?" Bronzy asks.

"Just give me your keys," she glares over towards Todd, "He will make sure you get home tonight."

"I don't know........."

"GIVE THEM TO ME!" she growls, jumps on the bar, reaches over pulls Bronzy closer, reaches her hand in his pocket and pulls out his keys. She loosens her grip, drops back on the floor and turns to leave. "Thank You!" she waves over her head. She walks back to Hiei with a smile and shacks the keys. "Now, we can go." They exit the building. As they walked toward the parking lot, they heard voices.

"Go away! We came for the redhead."

"He doesn't like to get dirty." Yusuke spits.

"We'll smash the big mouth," One guy breaks in, "You get the redhead."

"OH SHIT!" Kook yells and takes off running, she turns the corner to find Yusuke and Kurama backed against a wall. "Come on." She grabs Hiei and heads towards a truck. "GET IN." Hiei obeys; knowing his friends will be ok. His job is to stick with the chick. Kook reeves the engine, slams the gearshift in reverse and peels out running over three guys, barely stopping before she flattened Yusuke and Kurama. "GET IN" Yusuke and Kurama look at each other, shrug and jump in. "You guys sure know how to piss people off." Kook smiles at Hiei.

"That is our Job." Hiei holding tight to the door while Kook races as fast as she can to get away. The truck is old and the shocks are gone. Every bump tosses everyone in the front and back banging around. "I don't think they're coming." Hiei assures her in hopes of slowing down.

"No," She laughs. "I don't suppose they are." She slows a little and relaxes into the drivers seat. "You know."

"What?"

"I just lost my job."

"Seems so."

"I would stay away from there for awhile if I were you." Kook warns.

"Where we going?" Hiei questions.

"Home. Where do I drop you?" Kook asks.

Kurama and Yusuke have positioned theirselfs up against the cab. Yusuke's chiming pants go off again.

"What?" Yusuke growls as he opens his phone.

"Where you at Urameshi?"

"What do you want Kuwabara?"

"I want to know where you are."

"In the back of a truck, why?"

"You're on a mission. URAMESHI, I AM GOING TO KICK YOUR ASS!"

"You can't even walk, Kuwabara."

"URAMESHI, YOU LITTLE......."

SNAP!

"I told Botan, he'd be pissed."
