Book 5 - Chapter 8
Chapter 8
With Kurama and Kaida gone, Amaya had gotten ready quickly to venture into Makai. She was ready to open the gate when she felt a sharp kick in the side.
She sat down waiting for the baby’s temper tantrum to stop. She knew it felt her anxiety, her anticipation in the mission. Amaya put her hands on her belly and sighed.
“I need to help your daddy, little one. I will keep both of us safe, I promise you that. Kami, give me strength to find him.” She stood, opening a gate in the wall. “Let’s go find your father.”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Amaya arrived outside the barren wastelands on the outskirts of the Demon World. This is where, according to the information she had stolen from Botan, the Toris were holding Hiei, Yusuke and others.
“Well if they are being held here, then where in the hell are they holding them?”
She gazed over the area, the deserted, rocky landscape yielding nothing. The water demon sighed.
“Oh this is gonna be a needle in a haystack, isn’t it?”
She started into the wasteland as a familiar hand grabbed hers and stopped her.
“Just what do you think you are doing out here, in your condition no less?”
Amaya’s eyes went wide as she saw Botan, Kurama and Kaida standing there, not one of them looking very happy with the little water demon.
“Botan, how did you…?”
“You may work for Koenma, but he isn’t stupid enough to let you loose without a leash. He’s had more than just these two watching you. Saikoubi, you shouldn’t be here. You could…”
Amaya was pissed off as she started in on the ferry girl and the two demons. “Hurt the baby, hurt the baby. Yeah I know. There is a serious risk to the baby. I am not stupid. I am willing to take that chance! I have to find Hiei. Damn it, I won’t wait on Daioh to pull his thumb out of his ass and start looking. I am going to go, whether you ‘let me’ or not. Get off my ass Botan. You have no clue.”
The blue haired spirit stepped back at the reaction she had received. She was about to land a retort when Kurama spoke up, silencing the both of them.
“You’re right, Saikoubi. You’re going to go either way. Kaida, Botan, I say we support her in this rather than fight it. Any objections?”
Kurama walked over and stood behind his friend’s mate, his stance daring either of the other females to challenge him. Kaida nodded and went over to stand with the two of them, shifting her body to that of her demon form, shining wings spread.
“I say we go in there and get them out.”
Botan stood there, stunned, hands on her hips, not understanding what had happened. She was supposed to take Saikoubi back and make sure she stayed put in her apartment. This was not going as planned.
“This is crazy! We could get killed.”
Amaya looked at Botan, her eyes going white. “I would rather die in battle with my husband by my side than live without him here to raise our child.”
Kurama and Kaida stepped back as Amaya shifted her own demon form, the blue metallic dress shimmering like water, the slits on the sides stopping at her hips. She cringed, a hand swiftly moving to her side. Kurama touched her shoulder, as she stood upright, shaking his head at his silent inquiry. “But see Botan, I wont die, I will get him out if I have to kill every single fucking member of the Tori Hiburakku, either by drowning or with my bare hands.”
Kurama shivered, hearing the reverberations of his former partner in Amaya’s voice. ‘She’s channeling him perfectly.’
“And in battle, Kurama, I can channel him just as well.” She smiled as he nodded.
“Let’s go save that brute of yours. Botan, are you with us?”
The spirit sighed, looking at the three demons. “Oh why not. Koenma is already going to rip me up one side and down the other for this.”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Hiei stood in front of the other demon, not yet phased as the other demon stayed on the ground, bleeding profusely and nursing seared flesh. They had been fighting for their lives as the Toris watched, cheering for their favorite fighter whether it be Hiei or the other older demon.
Hiei listened to the voices around the two of them. They really did think of them as beasts, throwing random objects into the small arena and jeering them if they faltered. He grew tired of them all, ready to put an end to this and rest.
He had not slept well the time he was here, worried about his mate and how she was. He knew she would not easily let him be away from her but hoped she hadn’t done something senseless, like run off to look for him alone.
His thoughts were interrupted as the other demon stood, one hand out to blast the fire demon off his feet. It succeeded in staggering him back a few yards.
This needed to end.
He stood, his arms at his sides as the other demon rushed him. He held them up, flames licking up his hands.
“Burn.”
He began to pound the taller man, it only taking two hits to light the other demon on fire, the scream from his throat one of agony. He watched the other demon burn as he looked up at Ashihito who was sitting just above them.
Ashihito smiled as he spoke, quieting the crowd with a hand. “Very good 242. You have beaten your fifth opponent. You may go back to your cat.”
Hiei turned and screamed. “YOU BASTARD. I am sick of your games. Let me out of here. I will not go back!”
The fire demon’s right hand sparked as he rushed the Master of the Tori Hiburakku. He made it three strides before Kurojin walked into the arena, his long hair lose around him. The beast-catcher smiled evilly as he held his whip up.
“Think twice.” The being sneered at the demon, holding up the glowing whip. “Think about your actions.”
Hiei pulled up, rethinking his position. He backed down, standing with his head down, a concealed smile on his face.
He allowed the brown haired demon to take him back to the room with the cat demon. He would bide his time.
His instincts alone told him the calvary was on the way.
*~*~*~*~*~*
The detective didn’t know if it was night or day, what day it was, just that time was passing. He had been alone in this small room so long that he didn’t even know if he was ever going to see anyone ever again.
“I wonder where Hiei is. I wonder if Keiko had the baby. I wonder if Amaya had hers.”
He pondered all of these things, trying to keep from going stir crazy. There was only so much he could sleep, and with the screams from the next room, he didn’t think he ever would. The sounds of demons mating, females in pain, males unable to control themselves. Yusuke was a bit fearful of that exactly was going on in this place.
The door opened, a girl in a lavender kimono falling through followed by a tall female with a whip in her hand. The trainer’s blonde hair was tied back by a dark pink bandana, silver spikes glinting in her ears.
“Get your ass in there and get it over with. I don’t care if you are one of Daioh’s little playthings. In this place, you will do as you are told.”
The woman slammed the door as the girl crawled away, tears streaming down her face, hair disheveled.
“Hey are you okay?”
She turned, startled at the male voice from the other side of the room.
“Please, please don’t hurt me.”
He smiled, trying to calm the girl down. “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you. Did she say you were Daioh’s? A ferry girl? Like Botan?”
She perked up, a glint of recognition in here eyes. “You… You know Botan?”
He nodded. “Yes. I am Yusuke Urameshi.”
Her eyes lit up through the tears. “Yusuke, Lord Koenma’s favorite! Oh Mister Yusuke!” She jumped on his lap and hugged him. “You. You can get us out of here, Right! You have that Spirit Gun and…”
He shook his head. “I can’t, I tried and just got shocked.” She hung her head. “Hey, but if you’re here, then Koenma probably knows we are missing too. He might send help.” He smiled, not at all reassured at his own thought. “We just need to wait it out and hope for the best.
As he spoke, a man stood outside his door, preparing a syringe. The battle demon was the next due to be injected with boujiakuma, the drug they gave males who were more reluctant to give into their own sexual desires. He didn’t know he would be a danger to the girl he now consoled.
He would be the one, making her scream.
