Book 5 - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Amaya arrived at her apartment, storming in through the front door, looking appropriately pissed and being sure to block her mind from the kitsune and air demon making out on her couch. She slammed the door, throwing her jacket over a chair as she went into the kitchen.
The demons on the couch pulled apart as the water demon sat down at the table, hands on her head. She was trying to make it look as though she was terribly upset. She needed to get rid of them so she could plan her escape into the Makai. The tears on Amaya’s face fooled even Kurama as he sat down, hand on her shoulder.
“Hey Saikoubi. They will find him. Koenma said he knew where they were, right? I am sure they will figure a way to get them out.”
The water mo-zaku’s shoulders shook as she ‘cried’, head falling on the table. “I know that, but I want him here. What if he’s not here when…” She trailed off, crying like any normal pregnant woman can, tears flowing freely.
Kaida stood behind Amaya, kneading her shoulder as she looked to Kurama. “Look, stay here and rest for a while. The two of us will go find something to fix for dinner. You need to eat and keep up your strength. Right?”
Amaya nodded, her head still bowed on the table. She felt Kurama’s hand leave her shoulder and Kaida’s move away. She smiled inwardly, waiting until she heard the pair leave a few minutes later.
“Suckers.”
She got up and wiped off the crocodile tears, walking to the training room and grabbing her bow, a quiver of arrows and a sword Hiei had given her after their mating. It was a replica of his, but lighter and just as strong. He would need it; they probably took his from him.
“I don’t care if Enma himself is looking for him. I will make sure he is found, and the bastards who took him from me are going to pay dearly. I swear to it.”

Norica walked into the room where the fire demon and the cat demon were paired. She was disappointed, hoping the male would have figured it out by now and just taken her. She was nothing but a simple cat demon after all. A stupid and useless creature. She should have seen it coming though, after he had attacked one of the trainers, he most likely hadn’t felt like doing anything but lying there.
She walked in, seeing the cat demon on the bed, knees tucked up and asleep, and the fire demon on the other side of the room, apparently also heavy with sleep. She approached the cat Demon and pushed her over, checking for any wounds the fire demon might have inflicted. They had not been watching the room and did not know what had happened, but the guards had reported the cat had cried out in pain around an hour ago.
Norica sighed, obviously frustrated. ‘He has a mate, he may need to be persuaded.’ She stood up and started to turn as a sharp pain went across her throat and the warm red blood slipped out over her armor and onto the ground. She watched the fire demon pick up the cat demon, throwing her over his shoulder and run to the door, turning to speak to her.
“Your own carelessness got you killed.”
He flashed her own knife at her, as she died, her last breath a silent cry for help.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Hiei carried the cat demon down the hall and set her down in the hall. She was still in pain, but conscious now.
“Are you alright?”
She nodded. “I think so. How did we…?”
He turned, hearing footsteps. “Don’t worry about that. We need to find my companion and get out of here. Look for an… ARGGHHHH! SON OF A BITCH!”
Hiei heard the sharp crack of a whip as an older being walked toward them in the hall, his eyes wise but cold, his clothing almost regal. He had a small animal that Hiei had never seen on his shoulder, an orange ball of fluff, almost pig-like, with ears resembling bat wings. He turned to the beast-catcher behind him, smiling a warm smile that did not match his evil eyes.
“Well, Well… Kurojin? Is this the creature of fire and ice you captured? He is a fine specimen.” The older one walked up to the shorter demon, lifting his chin with the whip. “I will allow you a pleasantry number 242. I am Lord Ashihito, Master of the Tori Hiburakku. This is my son and beast-catcher, Kurojin. You are a very courageous little demon, but courage will not do you well here. Here, you will do as you are told, or die. There is no escape little demon. We are watching you.”
He stroked the orange creature’s back as he spoke, the animal cooing in pleasure as it eyed Hiei. The creature turned to Ashihito, nipping him on the ear. “You see, stupid creature, my little Namatop is my eyes and ears. He knows when you have done something you shouldn’t.” He smiled, looking down at Hiei and the cat, hand resting on his chin. “Ah, Norica. She was a good girl, a bit scatterbrained but no matter. She will be missed, but we have more important matters to attend. I have a plan for little demon. You will still fight for me. I will have you, your mate and that pup of yours under my power.” He turned to his son. “Kurojin.”
The man behind him stood straighter as he spoke. “Yes Sir.”
“Take these two back to their little love nest. If he has not taken the girl in three days, kill her and then find him one that more resembles his mate.”
The one known as Ashihito walked off, leaving the cat demon, Hiei and Kurojin in the hallway.
“Oh, and Kurojin; feed Norica’s corpse to the others. That is all she is good for at this point.”
