Book 5 - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Amaya walked into Koenma’s office, her ‘escorts’ back at the apartment per Koenma’s request. She was in rare form at that point; a 3 am summons from Koenma saying they had a clue had roused her from her bed fairly quickly. She was tired, and uncomfortable, but her mate was in trouble and that was more important.
“What have you got?”
Koenma turned to her, his full-sized form gazing at the former rei-kai spy. “Have you ever heard of the Tori Hiburakku?”
“The Toris? Yeah, they don’t give a shit about any law; they live outside and don’t care about what anyone else thinks. Their elder is called Ashihito. They don’t play nice with their captives, I have heard horror stories.” The realization hit Saikoubi like a brick, as she looked the junior lord in the eye. “The Toris have them? They only come by every thousand years! What the hell is going on?”
“Your mate planted a dream in the first person he thought he could find and trust and it was Botan.” He pointed to the powder blue-haired ferry girl, asleep in the chair. “It has been a thousand years Saikoubi. They are here and they are gathering their captives. Hiei and Yusuke are not the only ones.” He turned to a list on the table, picking it up and reading from it. “Confirmed demons forty-two, humans five, and spirits three. That includes one of my Ferry girls. They have collected fifty so far. Hiei and Yusuke have been confirmed taken by them, and other demons are questionable. The rumor is they have Mukuro as well as Yomi. Thankfully Enki is guarded. They are apparently going for higher powered beings”
Amaya scowled at the junior lord, hearing the name of her most hated rival. “Where is their camp?”
Koenma shook his head, foreseeing Amaya’s reaction. “I will not tell you. You will end up going and doing something stupid and get yourself caught.” Koenma stood directly in front of his former employee, towering over her in his adult form as he spoke, his full authority in his voice.
“Do you know why I stuck Kurama and Kaida on your back? I’ll tell you, Amaya. You will let your anger get in the way of your thinking about what could happen. My sources tell me that the Toris want you too. I have researched what they do to females in their care. They remove the children from their mother and train them to kill, for sport. I could not forgive myself if that happened. Therefore you are to go home and stay put. I will not tell you, nor will anyone else who might know. Do not try to find out. Go home. Go to bed and trust for once that I will get your mate back to you. Listen to what I have to tell you, please, for once.”
The junior lord was panting as Amaya blinked at him, utterly surprised at his outburst. He had never, in the years she worked for him, acted like this.
She shook her head at the shock and bowed her head, deep blue hair covering her face. “You win. I’ll go home. Just let me know before you go, ok?”
He nodded as she walked out, arms around her middle, in all appearances comforting herself through the baby.
“Poor girl. I know how much she would love to go save him, but we can’t chance her losing that little one, now can we Botan?”
The woman had woken up, something stirring in her brain. “Eh, what’s that, Lord Koenma?”

Kaida had taught Amaya a few tricks too, like how to find the information she needed out of someone’s head.
In this case it was the sleeping Botan’s. And it was the exact location of her husband.
“Sorry, guys, but I just don’t trust you to find him.”
