Scene 23
Scene 23 ----------- Later That Day
* Sarista is helping the others prepare the afternoon meal. They are grateful that they haven’t seen or felt a trace of Sylk since she left. Several of them silently hope she’s chosen to stay down in the village with the others. For now, the pack continues their lives as normally as they can. They soon feel a familiar presence approaching and some of them glance toward Troiyoku. The boy sets his son, Tanto, aside and goes to meet Coutaro as he enters the clearing.
Troiyoku- Cou.
Coutaro- I was told to come get Master Hiei.
* Sarista looks toward them as they greet with an affectionate kiss.
Sarista- Master Hiei is resting.
Coutaro- Oh.
Troiyoku- Is it important?
Coutaro- A bunch of the other pack alphas want to meet with him.
Lily- Tell them that Master Hiei will meet with them when he’s d--- good and ready.
Celestia- But don’t tell them it’s because he’s exhausted.
D’Tara- Just tell them that he’s.. celebrating and enjoying some peace for the night.
Coutaro- That’ll work.
* Coutaro looks at Troi again.
Coutaro- Celebrating sounds like a good idea.. It’s good to see you again, koi.
Troiyoku- You know that you’re welcome up here anytime.
Coutaro- Hai.. I have to return this message.. Then I’ll be back up. ‘Kay?
* Troiyoku embraces Coutaro closer to snuffle against one of his tufted ears. Then gives him another brief kiss.
Troiyoku- The West Wall Cave.
* Coutaro nods. Wiggles his fuzzy eyebrows, then leaves quickly. Sarista shakes her head as she returns to peeling the potatoes on the wood plank table.
Sarista- I’ll see that the kids are taken care of tonight.
* Troiyoku moves to hug her.
Troiyoku- Thanks, Mom.. It’ll probably be an all-nighter.
Sarista- As usual.. Go on.. If Hiei wakes up tonight I’ll let him know where you are.
* Troiyoku nods, glances toward Staci when she hurries away from the table and falls to her knees to wretch, then leaves. Lily goes over to Staci. The human girl has been growing steadily sicker for the past couple hours.
Lily- You want me to get you some more herb tea to help your stomach?
Staci- Please.
* As Lily moves away Trinka comes over to rub Staci’s back and hold her hair as Staci continues throwing up. The blonde human glances a queasy smile at the mute when her wretching finally stops. Lily returns with the special tea. They help Staci sit up to sip at it.
(#) Trinka- I wish we could help her.
(#) Lily- You can’t heal her of something that comes natural.. Her human body is just starting to feel the effects of what she’s carrying.
(#) Trinka- The baby is going to be very strong.
* Lily nods somewhat sullenly, then continues helping Staci drink all of the tea.
Lily- I’ve also put a little Sleeping Juniper juice in there. It’ll help you to relax and get some rest.
Staci- Thanks.. I haven’t b-been.. sleeping well.
Lily- I know.. Shh. Let the juice work now.
* In a matter of moments Trinka and Lily help the passed out human girl into the cave to settle her into her own bed of furs. They then return to continue helping the others.
