Scene 23
Scene 23 -------------- Early The Next Morning
* Hiei wakes up to find himself still wrapped in Habataro's arms. At first, the Koorime squirms in panic and is quickly released. When Hiei gets to his feet and turns to glare at him Hab raises a hand placatingly.
Habataro- Easy, Master.. I did you no harm.
* Hiei grunts and turns away.
Hiei- Hn.. Return to your village now.
Habataro- Will you be okay?
Hiei- I have a mate to dispatch.
Habataro- Will you allow me to..?
Hiei- No. You have served your purpose.. I gave you your orders.
* Habataro watches Hiei leave the cave sadly. When he is sure that Hiei is gone he leaves to return to the village. The dark Koorime next appears in the clearing near the rest of his pack so suddenly that they start. Hiei raises up to his full height and glances over all of them. He can feel that they all had a rough night as well, but remains outwardly stoic.
Hiei- Bring her body out here, Sarista.
* Sarista glances down at the small bundle in her arms, then hands the baby over to Celestia. Hiei pointedly avoids looking toward the child. Several of the pack notice this. Sarista goes into the cave, gathers up the small wrapped body, and carries it out. Hiei motions to the ground close to him. He doesn't fail to notice the Alpha Female's damp cheeks as she moves back, but he remains silent. As he raises his hand to send a burst of black flames toward Klarice's body he feels the familiar presence appear not far from him. When the body is blazing he lowers his hand.
Hiei- I have nothing to say to you.
* Koenma shudders internally at the coldness in Hiei's voice.
Koenma- No, it is I who..
Hiei- Leave.
Koenma- Hiei, please..
* Hiei snarls.
Hiei- I said leave.. before I forget who you are!
Koenma- I will not go before you hear me out.
* The Teen Prince actually takes a step back, away from the hardened glare that Hiei casts toward him.
Hiei- I don't care to hear any of your excuses.. Leave! The next time you set foot in my Territory I'll end your existance!
* Hiei turns back toward the black pyre. Koenma bolsters his resolve.
Koenma- It won't slip through my hands again, I..
* Hiei growls louder and spins toward Koenma. The Prince just barely manages to dodge a ball of black flames that's hurled toward him.
Hiei- The next barrage will not miss!
* Koenma wisely backs away into his portal. Hiei watches it close then turns back toward the fire. When nothing is left of Klarice he recalls the flames back into himself, closes his eyes as his chest clenches, then regains his hard countenance. He half turns to glance toward his pack. When he hears a couple sniffles he turns back away to walk toward the treeline again. not really knowing what to say to them when he has no comfort for himself at the moment.
Sarista- Master.
* Hiei freezes in place.
Sarista- Will you name your daughter?
Hiei- Call her what you wish.
* With that Hiei disappears in a blink. Sarista swallows and moves to reclaim the whimpering baby girl.
Sarista(Quietly)- He just needs.. more time.. I'm sure he will realize and accept what he must do.
* The others quietly agree.
