Chapter 23: Next Match!!
“After this dramatic and unexpected denouement, team Urameshi advances to round two! However, it appears that one of their members, Kuwabara, may be out for the duration!” says Koto.
Kai comes over to Yusuke, who is slowly trying to get Kuwabara’s body out of the ring and kneels next to them.
“Here, let me help…’ he says.
“Thanks.” says a grateful Yusuke.
As soon as Kai helps Yusuke to his feet, with a limp Kuwabara’s arm around Yusuke’s shoulder, Kai speaks.
“We did this…please, let me make it up to you! Allow me to take his place on your team!”
Yusuke smiles.
“I’d be happy to, but…no.”
“Huh?” Kai asks, surprised.
“You don’t know Kuwabara. He’d bust my butt if I allowed it.” laughs Yusuke, while pointing to the dead wait leaning on him.
Kai looks at him before helping Yusuke half carry, half drag Kuwabara out of the arena.
“Anyway, the tourney rules state we can’t use an alternate, unless a team member dies.” Yusuke adds.
“I see…” Kai says, understanding.
“Besides that, we have an alternate…we just…well…left her back at the hotel sleeping.” Yusuke says, scratching the back of his head, after gently placing Kuwabara on the ground.
“Oh…”
“I thought it was quiet.” Smirks Hiei.
“Now Hiei, that wasn’t nice.” Scolds Kurama.
“Hn.” Hiei says, though anyone could see him with a look in his eyes that meant he knew something they didn’t.
(*&It will be interesting to see that onna beat up the detective and the oaf.*&) smirks Hiei.
Singing was heard and everyone was dead silent as a beautiful voice filled the arena.
They all turned with shocked faces to where the beautiful voice came from…
You had finally got your pants on and your shoes. You ran down the stairs, forgetting about the elevator that you could have used. You ran out of the hotel, focusing on the guys’ auras, which you could fully sense now.
You ran off into the direction of the stadium. As you ran, you found it a bit quiet and figured you should sing to speed up this run to get to the tournament.
A smile came to your lips as the perfect song came to mind. So you started to sing just as you entered a wooded path that lead to the stadium.
~SONG STARTS~
Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I'm home bound
Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd
And I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder....
If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
Tonight
(You trip over a rock and scrape your arm, but you don’t even notice. You stand up and continue on your way.)
It's always times like these
When I think of you
And I wonder
If you ever
Think of me
(You come to a split in the forest. You look at both directions and with the help of focusing on the group’s auras, which became stronger, pointed down the path that led to the right. “That way!” you shout, continuing running and returning to the song.)
'Cause everything's so wrong
And I don't belong
Living in your
Precious memories
'Cause I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder....
If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
Tonight
(You ignore the blood running down your arm, and the scratches that you now have on your face and arms. You were going to look a mess when you reached the arena, but you were so into the song and your mission to reaching the arena, you didn’t know nor care)
And I, I
Don't want to let you know
I, I
Drown in your memory
I, I
Don't want to let this go
I, I
Don't....
(You see the stadium and grin, running faster.)
Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I'm home bound
(“Get outta my way! Late contestant comin’ through!” you shout as you run through the crowd, before returning to your singing)
Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd
And I still need you
And I still miss you
And now I wonder....
(You run down hallway after hallway, turning and twisting. You close your eyes and just let your senses guide you to the arena, fully losing your self into the song that you were now singing full of power.)
If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass us by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you...
(You stumble again, but recover and start to run faster, your eyes still closed)
If I could fall
Into the sky
(You run right into the stadium, totally obvious at the fact you even arrived. Everyone was silent as they watched you run in singing. You had them all entranced by your voice, but didn’t even notice.)
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
If I could
Just hold you
Tonight
~SONG ENDS~
You feel something under your feet. Your eyes snap open as you crash to the ground.
“I seem to like the ground…” you mumble, starting to feel fatigued.
“(YAFN)-chan?!”
You look up to see a worried and shocked Yusuke staring down at you.
You jump up, your energy fully recharged and in his face.
“YOU! YOU STUPID JACKASS!! YOU LEFT ME ASLEEP BACK IN THE HOTEL BY MY SELF! WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENED TO ME?! WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENED TO YOU GUYS?! DO YOU TWO EVEN HAVE A BRAIN TO THINK?!” you shout
“Calm down (YAFN)-chan!” says a terrified Yusuke; he knew of the wrath of a pissed off woman who can hit hard since he had Keiko to take his experiences from.
“And where the Hell is Kuwabara?! I need to give me a piece of my mind too!” you shout, calming down a bit, but still pissed off.
“Uh…you kind of tripped over him.” says Yusuke, pointing behind you on the ground.
You blink at him and turn to see a severely injured Kuwabara on the ground.
Your eyes widened and your anger immediately disappeared.
“Kuwabara…? What happened?” you ask, barely above a whisper.
Your injuries and tiredness hitting you as you looked at the barely living man before your eyes.
“He was an idiot, and let himself let his ass kicked, that’s what happened.” Snorted Yusuke, trying not to scare you, by not telling you the truth of how Kuwabara bravely put himself in danger to try and save three brain washed humans.
He himself was worried, but like a ‘guy’ does, he didn’t show it.
You kneel next to Kuwabara and gently press your head to his chest, listening for a heart beat or anything. You gave a sigh of relief once you felt his chest rise and fall as if he was sleeping.
“Well… at least he isn’t dead….” You say, smiling.
Yusuke grinned at the sight.
(*&Maybe I don’t have to get involved….Naw, I still have to. That idiot is too stupid to realize he loves (YAFN)-chan.*&) thinks Yusuke.
“Shit, he isn’t dead! We want something for our money’s worth; we want a death!”
The crowd shouted and started to get restless.
“Sirs, please calm down! We’re going to start the second part!” Koto says.
Everyone from both Team Ichigaki and Team Urameshi was in shock at this.
Yusuke gasps.
“What…?” says a shocked Kurama.
“Team Urameshi will face the Shadow Chandlers!” announces Koto.
“Right now?!” Everyone shouted on Team Urameshi, which included you.
You were worn from the running you did and started to feel those self inflected injuries you made on the run over.
“I was never told we’d go straight on!!” shouts Yusuke, now in poor Koto’s face.
“Yusuke, don’t kill the announcer!” you shout from your position on the grass.
“I’m not! I just want some answers!” he shouts back.
(*%I didn’t foresee this! And my aura’s almost spent!* %) thinks the masked fighter.
“Awright! Now we’re talking!!”
“Kill ‘em!”
“Fight ‘em! Trounce ‘em! Torture ‘em!”
The crowd goes into another up roar.
“You call this a tournament?! Feh! It’s just a grinder, and we’re the meat! Well, bring it on!” growls Yusuke.
The crowd begins their favorite chant of “Kill” going.
You figure you and Kuwabara wouldn’t be involved in this fight, you knew for a fact what was going to happen next, but dreaded it.
You carefully moved Kuwabara so he was now resting against you, almost sitting in your lap. You snuggled into his back, your arms around his waist. You figured he would give you some kind of support and you could be his pillow.
“Entering the arena—the shadow Chandlers!!” Koto says, pointing to where the challengers were to be.
An fwoosh of wind picked up the dirt, covering the spot Koto point to in a cloud of dust. Once it cleared, five figures dressed in what could be called ‘cult’ clothing stood.
“Our new opponents, huh? Show offs.” Snorts Yusuke.
“Though you got to admit, their entrance was cool.” You say, snickering.
Yusuke sighs.
“Cut it out, ok?”
You bit your lip.
‘Must not be a good time to make jokes.’ You think.
“Team leaders come forward!” Koto says.
“Kuwabara’s definitely out, so it’s down to the four of us.” Yusuke says, heading towards the arena.
“I can fight! What about me?!” You shout, sounding hurt, which you were.
“Not this one (YAFN)-chan. You need to take care of Kuwabara.” Yusuke says.
You were about to protest when a grunt came from Kuwabara. You moved your head so you could look at Kuwabara’s face, and saw that it was contorted in pain.
‘Maybe the next one…Kuwabara is more important right now….’ You think, while gently petting his hair, which was starting to lose its gel.
That seemed to calm him down, because his face became relaxed and he seemed to breathe a sigh of contentment, which made you smile as you had him leaning back on you and continued to pet his head.
“Who wants to do the honors?” says one of the cloaked guys from the other team.
Wind blew off one of the cloaked figures to revile one of them.
“Ah’ll step up.” He says with an Irish like accent.
“It’s Jin!”
“The wind master!”
The crowd shouted as they realized who was walking into the arena.
“It’s Jin alright! That means they’re….” Kurama states, but stops.
“Yeah go on?” says Yusuke, feeling as if he is being left at the climax of a movie when the killer is about to be reviled or something.
“Don’t go all dramatic on us now Kura-chan!” you say from your spot.
Kurama chuckles at you before turning back to the issue at hand.
“They’re famous and rightly so. ‘Shadow Challengers’ is just a guise to throw everyone off. They’re actually ninja demons, covert lurkers who maneuver in the shadows of the power strugglers between other demons. They live for carnage and are greatly feared.” says Kurama.
“Wow…demon ninjas…” you mutter, while holding Kuwabara closer, feeling a bit better just by holding him.
However, you felt as if you were getting weaker; like more tired as if your energy was being sucked out of you. You figured it was probably because you used up all of your strength to get to the arena and was just tired.
Yusuke and Jin stood in the middle of the arena.
“Please determine the format of battle!”
Jin looks down at Yusuke, who is shorter then himself. You figure by how the two were standing, Jin could probably be just as tall as Kuwabara if not the same height.
Jin smirks, a fag showing from his lips. Yusuke tilts his head to the side a bit, trying to figure this demon out.
“One-on-one elimination until one team runs out of members!” Jin suggests.
“Suits me!” Yusuke agrees.
“The teams have chosen one-on-one elimination!” announces Koto.
As both Yusuke and Jin walk away, Jin adds a comment.
“Yah, bring a hole breeze wit’ yah.”
Yusuke glances at the wind master and gives him a look before returning to the rest of you.
Just then the speaker makes an announcement.
“As scheduling has compelled Team Urameshi to fight two rounds in a row, management has ordered that a medical check be conducted to the participants. Please stand by.”
“A medical check?” asks a confused Yusuke.
“Didn’t know you cared…how nice…” you mumble, being sarcastic.
A very pretty woman comes up to you all in a nurse outfit, which could have been put in the same category as a ‘bunny’ suit would be found in.
The nurse looks at you all and then finally points to two of you.
“You and you. Come with me please.” She says, pointing to Hiei and the masked fighter.
“Why us? Kuwabara’s the one who needs the attention, as does (YAFN)-chan” Hiei says, looking at her like she didn’t know what she was doing.
He also seemed to display a hint of concern in his eyes possible for you and Kuwabara or maybe just you; but then again who knows with Hiei.
“That’s for me to decide.” says the ‘nurse’, leading the two to a small tent that was a medical tent set up just for this event.
The crowd grew restless.
“Get on with it!”
“They’ll die anyway!”
“Any aches or pains? Nausea? Headache, perhaps?” the nurse asks, holding a clip board.
“Is this a joke?” Hiei asks, not buying the whole thing.
“This is no joke, believe me. You both need some rest.” She says.
“Go medicate yourself.” Hiei says, his hands in his pockets which you could see since it was the only thing beside his shoes, since he wasn’t wearing a shirt
((A/N: Hiei fans can start to drool at this image ^_^))
Even his bandana was missing, exposing his Jagan.
As Hiei was about to take a step out from under the tent, a force field appears in front of him; causing him to halt in his tracks.
“What the heck’s that?!” asks Yusuke.
“A force field” Kurama says.
The nurse removes her nurse out fit and is basically naked except for her most intimate parts, which was covered with a thick wire.
“Courtesy of me, Luka, the finest force field specialist in the demon plane. You two must stay here now. You’ll be fit…once round two is over.” Luka says.
“A cursed binding cord!! Dangerous even to move in there! It’s basically a special cord lined with incantations!” says Kurama.
“Hiei and the masked fighter have been declared medically unfit to fight! They will be restricted to the sidelines until given a clear bill of health!” came an announcement from the speakers.
“I’m really starting to hate that guy...” you mumble, feeling a bit tired.
“What the---“growls Yusuke.
“That’s not fair!” shouts Kai.
Yusuke is back in the arena, fuming at poor Koto, again.
“This is nothin’ but a dirty ruse!! What’re you tryin’ t’ pull?!” Yusuke shouts glaring at the now scared Koto.
“Meooow?! Me? Nothing! I’m just the emcee! These things are entirely out of my hand!” says Koto, really scared.
(*#No question this round’s been rigged but Hiei and Genkai really are unfit to fight at this point. Could this actually work in our favor..?#*) thinks Kurama.
“Awww Yusuke leave her alone! Besides, they do need a break!” you shout, though from the sound of your voice you needed a break too.
‘Damn…I thought if you had enough sleep you would have energy, but no…I’m more tired!’ you think.
“You should be talking? You seem to be faring worse then Kuwabara, and he almost died.” snorts Hiei, glaring at you from his ‘prison.’
Kurama and Yusuke both glared at Hiei. They didn’t want you to know that Kuwabara almost died, they didn’t know how you would handle that; however you didn’t seem to notice exactly what he said.
“Trust me! You and MF need rest; you both lower in power…and I can tell! Which is saying something cause I’m not doing well either….” You shout sounding like you didn’t even know what you were saying; which in fact you didn’t.
You leaned your head in between Kuwabara’s neck and shoulder, closing your eyes.
Unbeknownst to you, the reason you were feeling so weak and so drained was because you body was subconsciously transferring some of your aura into Kuwabara. You had gained a new power, that included healing, but from your lack of judgment; running to the stadium like a crazy woman, you had no way to control the effects of it.
They all look at you, more then worried.
(*&Something’s definitely wrong with (YAFN)-chan…I have no time for this…*&) Yusuke mentally growls, vowing that as soon as this match is over he was going to find out what was the matter with you.
“Heh…two against five. Nothing you can’t take care of….eh Jin?” asks one of the clocked figures.
Jin doesn’t answer him. He looks at the guy and sticks his pinky finger into his ear.
“Sure, ah suppose…but ah’ve decided t’ sit this one out.” He says, walking past his fellow team mate.
“What?!” the cloaked figure placed his hand on Jin’s shoulder.
“No way, Jin! Get out there and take ‘em!”
Jin turned cold eyes at his team mate and grabs his wrist, squeezing it so one could hear it making sounds that could make anyone wince.
“You know better’n that.” Jin says in a cold dead voice, his eyes going dangerous.
The cloaked figure stares at Jin as he plops down against the wall and closes his eyes, humming.
“Hmph! Heh…Jin’s recognized a worthy adversary, and wants to be sporting. Well, then…guess I’ll go.” The cloaked figure removes his cloak, reviling himself.
“Gama, master of ritual adornment!!”” Gama says, announcing himself.
Kurama looks at the demon with interest in fighting him.
“Kurama?” Yusuke asks, seeing the look in Kurama’s eyes.
“I’d like to think I could take them all…but I get the feeling that’s not in the cards.” Kurama says, taking a step forward.
“I’ll engage them; get them to reveal their strategies. The rest may be up to you.” Kurama says.
Yusuke just looks at Kurama.
The crowd starts to chant that favorite chant of theirs again.
“Kill.”
“Well we’re doomed….” You mumble meaning the rest being up to Yusuke, but no one hears you.
“And now…Kurama vs. Gama! Beging!” Koto says.
Gama quickly takes out two pant brushes. Kurama looks at him.
“I use ritual body art known for its potent magic. Human’s use it in religious ceremonies and as cosmetics, in daily life.” Gama says, starting to pant weird designs all over his body.
“But I’ll show you much more then that! Wait until you see my special Hrrruunnnn War Pant!!” Gama says, his body now panted.
“You know, he should were that all of the time, he looks better.” You say which earned you a snort from both Hiei and Yusuke, though it was an amusement snort as well as a snort of agreement.
“Gama has adorned his entire body with ritual patterns!! And they seem to be boosting his demonic aura!” says Koto.
Gama goes at Kurama.
“Hiyaah!” he shouts as he slams his fist into the ground, where Kurama was only minutes before. Kurama was now in mid air.
(*#If that had connected….! Better keep my distance….!!#*) thinks Kurama.
His eyes widen as he sees Gama coming straight at him from the side, while Kurama is still in the air.
Kurama does an amazing back flip, just dodging the punch from Gama. He then jumps up missing another.
(*@Kurama’s problem is that he has to figure out an enemy first. With someone this fast, though, there’s little time for that@*) Hiei thinks.
“See what you’ve taken on?! Let’s get this over with!” Gama says.
Gama punches again, while Kurama dodges again. As Kurama is still in mid air, he turns and looks to see where Gama is. He notices that Gama is heading towards him, but this time he reaches for his paint brushes and splashes the paint onto Kurama.
As Kurama lands, he find a chain like pattern on his pant leg.
“My leg….?!” Kurama gasps.
“Heh heh…feels like it’s made of lead doesn’t it?” Gama asks.
Kurama runs but moves much slower because of the symbol on his pant leg.
“Harder to move now, huh? My art can also cause damage!” Gama says.
“Gama’s just demonstrated an artful cruse! By the looks of it, he’s got Kurama on the ropes!” Koto says.
“Gama’s ink seeps through clothing and adheres to the skin, firming a receiver for curses! Once marked, the victim’s trapped!” says one of the still cloaked fighters.
Gama appears in front of the running Kurama, and runs past him, though not with out first spraying some paint on Kurama’s other leg, and marking both of Kurama’s arms.
“Shackle paint!” Gama shouts the name of his attack.
Kurama’s eyes widen.
“I’ve just robbed your limbs of all movement!! It’s like having 70 kg (154 lb) weights loaded on each arm and leg!” Gama says.
You do the math in your head, or trying being the key word here.
“That’s 600 lbs!” you shout.
“No, it’s 280 kg/ 617 lbs, heh heh but good try since you have no calculator.” Gama says, complementing you.
You glare a tired glare at him, never liking math anyway.
“How’s it feel carrying the weight of four men?!” says Gama, starting to moving all around the arena.
“It’s just gone from bad to worse for Kurama! I’d say the game’s over folks!” Koto says.
“Not by a long shot.” You mumble, but not loud enough for people to hear you. You were just too tired.
“Heh…not bothering to struggle? Resigned to your fate?” Gama asks, now coming straight at Kurama.
“Then the match is mine!!” he shouts.
Gama is mid air ready to jump the defenseless Kurama, when a blurred object came out of Kurama’s hair, which was in a pony tail.
“What? I’m hit!!” says Gama, looking at the blood that was starting to gush out of where his knee caps were on both legs, on his torso, on both shoulders and a little above both elbows.
Kurama turns his head to reclaim his ‘hair rose whip’ which coiled back around his pony tail and looked ready to strike, like a snake.
“I’m not limited to what my arms and legs can do in a fight.” says Kurama.
“What an incredible reversal!! Kurama’s nailed Gama with a hair—borne whip!!” Koto shouts, in amazement.
Gama stands there in a bloody mess, breathing heavily.
“Gluh…I was too hasty. I should’ve locked you down completely, however long it took.” He says.
“Don’t waste your breath—or strength—talking. Release your curse and use the energy to heal your self.” says Kurama.
“Heh heh… you think it’s over? I don’t!!” Gama says, slightly bloody from his injuries and keeps him self alive a bit longer.
“Even cursed, I’m in tact. You’re not. Heal your self. Your skills are worth preserving.” Kurama says.
Gama runs towards Kurama, assuring his fate.
“You honor me!!!”
He swings, but misses; his wounds making it difficult for him to hit Kurama.
Gama coughs out blood, blood gushing out of all of his wounds.
“Stop!! If you keep moving you’ll die!!” shouts Kurama, warning Gama.
Gama comes at him again, trying to punch the still chained Kurama, however this time his arm falls off from how deep Kurama’s rose whip had sliced it and how hard he was punching.
Gama’s eyes started to close as he falls over into a pool of his own blood.
Kurama looks at the demon with pity; pity that was shown towards a demon who was so easily willing to sacrifice his life just to please his cravings for carnage and blood.
“Gama’s down! Starting the count!” Koto says.
“1…”
“Not that it matters…” sighs Kurama.
“2…”
“Hehehehehehehe.” laughs the half dead demon that was basically swimming in his own blood.
“….5”
“It’s not done…” Gama gasps out.
“What?” ask Kurama.
“I’m not limited to what my paint brushes can do! Blood spatters do just as well! My ink in fact, is my blood!” Gama says.
Kurama looks down at him self and found that Gama’s blood wasn’t splattered randomly on him, but in fact seemed to form a seal of some kind.
“Y’ see; I figured defeating you might cost me my life. My…ink….has completely bound up your demonic aura! It’s the way of the shinobi…give all for the team! My aura will linger for 10 minutes after my death. Your next opponent however won’t wait…” says Gama before collapsing dead in his own blood.
“10!” Koto says.
“Uh-oh…” Kurama says, as realization hits. He was in real trouble now, and he knew it.
Another cloaked member of the team reviled himself.
“Well done, Gama. Ten minutes will suffice to avenge you.” says Toya.
((A/N: This is the correct spelling of Toya…I got it from the manga, so there shouldn’t be a problem))
“Next contestant, step forward!!” says Koto.
“I appear to be in deep trouble here. I got careless, and let Gama put me righter where he wanted me!!” says a frightened Kurama.
“Next up…Toya the ice master!!” announces Koto.
“Your death won’t be wasted Gama. I will destroy him.” says Toya.
Toya is now in the arena.
“Tell me something…what are you, the most powerful of the shinobi doing here?” Kurama asks.
“….seeking the light. We’ve lived in the most distant shadows of the dark world, a realm devoid of illumination. At last we realized we have the power to leave, to live where we like having emerged into the light we intend to become the light, and spread our selves over the entire world.” Toya says.
Meanwhile, in the medical tent…
“A shinobi revolt, then.” says the masked fighter.
Hiei humphs while sitting on the table that is Luka’s desk, that is under the tent.
“When perilous missions loom, demon ninjas pass their techniques down to their star pupils, so their ‘schools’ won’t die out. After a string of such bequests, there ‘schools’ fall into the hands of ‘unconventional’ thinkers.” Hiei says.
(*@That‘s what we have here, from the looks of it. The problem before us is how to defeat them. Seiryu, the ice demon I defeated, doesn’t hold a candle to Toya. Of the ice demons, Toya holds top rank.@*) Hiei thinks.
((A/N: There is a chart in the manga and even Yukina was stronger then Seiryu! Which means she’s one tough ice maiden ^_^))
“Enough. WE waist time….time Gama gave his life to grant me.” Toya says.
“Begin!!” says Koto.
Both of Toya’s hands start to glow.
“You’re smart Kurama…and demonstrably fatal to anyone who gets careless. I won’t make the mistake of presuming you’re entirely help less…” Toya says, making ice bullets in his right hand.
“….so I’ll adopt the sniper approach.”
Toya brings the snow bullets to his mouth and just blows on them, sending them flying at Kurama as if they were shot out of a sniper gun. Kurama gasps and tries to dodge.
“Evil Flute Hail Storm!!” Toya shouts.
Kurama gets hit, but is still able to move; the weights already gone so he could move without the weights; however his demonic powers still locked inside of him.
Toya blows another assault at Kurama, who does back flips to escape the deadly snow balls; however he still gets hit with a few.
(*#Must undo the curse somehow…#*) Kurama thinks.
“Wait!” he thinks aloud.
He rips open his already torn shirt and wipes some of Gama’s blood on his hand.
“This ink is Gama’s blood, so…”
Toya sees what Kurama is thinking and smiles.
“Heh…washing blood with blood…very good…”
Kurama starts to rub Gama’s blood over the cut that was bleed on his arm.
However, Kurama’s aura still doesn’t work.
“Arr…” growls a frustrated Kurama.
“…but unless. Gama has that angle covered. You remember what he said, don’t you? I still have fire minutes left! AS long as his aura lingers you can’t emit any aura yourself!” Toya shouts, as he blasts another around at Kurama.
Kurama is hit again, even more severely. His blood starts to drip onto the arena floor as he is now kneeling on the arena floor as well.
“Kurama’s down!” says Koto.
(*#He said….I can’t emit any aura? Yes…Gama did cover that angel…however...#*) Kurama thinks, forming a plain in his head.
He staggers as he stands up.
“He’s up…he’s up again!” shouts an astonished Koto.
Toya looks at Kurama weird.
“You are formidable. You’re avoided every mortal blow I’ve tried to inflict.” Toya says.
“Kurama…!” Yusuke shouts, now able to speak, extremely fear full of Kurama’s life now.
You found your self against a wall, not realizing that Yusuke had moved you and Kuwabara closer to the wall that separated the audience and the arena area; keeping you and Kuwabara out of harms way. You lay back and held Kuwabara against you, too tired to even blush or even realize that what you were doing may look more then friendly. You looked out at the terribly injured Kurama.
“….Kurama….be careful…” you mumble, holding to stay awake, though it was hard for the fact you were subconsciously killing your self by giving Kuwabara your aura to live.
Toya narrows his eyes at his opponent.
“And you’re considering attack options this very moment.” Toya says.
“Tell me one more thing…what do you plan to do out here?” Kurama asks.
“Not sure, really. Light was our first priority.” says Toya.
“I see.” Kurama says, his right hand lightly touching his left.
Toya notices this.
(*^Gama’s aura is about to time out. I’ve wounded him, but that means little if he regains use of his demonic aura. I’ll have to make sure I get him in close combat! ^*) Toya thinks.
An ice sword forms in his hand.
“…And finish him!!” he says aloud.
“Toya’s summoned a sword of ice!! Is he going for the ultimate stroke?!” says an excited Koto.
“This is it! Without your aura, you have no way to parry my sword!” shouts Toya, as he charges Kurama, who leans back on his right leg.
“Now suffer!” Toya shouts as he jumps in to the air.
Yusuke gasps. Hiei looks in awe at the scene, while you make a faint smile and sigh of relief. You were a bit worried about that fight.
Toya’s ice sword stopped a mere half an inch from Kurama’s forehead.
Kurama had run Toya through with a plant sword that had grown from the wound in Kurama’s left arm; piercing the ice master in his stomach.
“Plants…from your wounds?! You put the deadly vetch in them?” asks an astonished Toya. ((A/N: See Kurama’s fist match ^_^))
“Yes, where my aura flows freely. You made that option available to me.” says Kurama, dropping Toya to the ground.
“You’re…too…much…” mutters Toya before passing out.
“Toya’s down! Starting the count!” Koto says.
Toya held his stomach as he was kneeling on the ground.
“…10! Kurama now beat two of the Shadow Challengers!!” Koto says.
“Okay, that’s enough! Step down Kurama! I’ll do the rest!” shouts Yusuke.
“You win…now end me…” Toya says.
Kurama closes his eyes.
“No.”
Toya looks up at him, surprised.
“After light, what will you seek? I’d like to know. Anyway, it’s obvious…I’m in worse shape…than you…” Kurama says.
His eyes close and his arm lays motionless at his side.
“KURAMA!!” Yusuke screams.
However, Kurama was unconscious on his feet, the plant still in his wound and in both of his arms. One of his sleeves of his shirt is gone and the front of his shirt was ripped showing his bloody stained chest.
Kurama stood there like a beautiful statue yet a sad one.
“KURAMA!!” Yusuke screams again, hoping to wake up his friend.
“Kurama! Oh no, is he…?!” Yusuke asked.
Koto walks up to the still form and was able to see him still breathing from where some blood lightly dribbling down from his slightly opened mouth.
“Kurama’s still breathing! But he’s other wise completely out of it!!” Koto says.
“Yusuke…” you mutter.
He turns to you.
“Get him out of there…he’s gonna get killed!” you say, still a bit weak, but it was no wonder from all of the aura you were giving to Kuwabara, who was still unconscious.
“Right.” Yusuke says.
He turns to the ring.
“That’s it! Kurama’s down! I’m coming in!”
Bakuken appears in the ring.
“Who…you stay put.”
Yusuke growls.
“This one’s still standing….and in bounds, so he fights me!” Bakuken says.
“Fight you?! He can’t even see you!” shouts a pissed Yusuke.
Koto realizes how unfair the match would be.
“I…I call for a handoff!” she announces.
“What?! Sez you!!”
“No hand off!”
The crowd now chants a new chant, saying “No hand off!”
“We have a ruling from the Tournament HQ! There will be no hand off! Repeat—there will be no hand off!” says the announcer over the speaker.
“Did I mention I hate that guy?” you growl, feeling your self coming too.
It seemed anger giving strength run in the family, if you were really related to Yusuke that is. ^_~.
“Yeah…and I do too.” growls Yusuke.
“Match number three—Kurama vs. Bakuken! Begin!” says the announcer on the intercom.
Hiei walks forward.
“Don’t even think it. Touch my force field and you’ll regret it.” Luka says.
Hiei looks at her and then back at the arena, with murder in his eyes.
“Hear that? You’ve been over ruled!” says Bakuken, who picked up Koto by the back of her shirt and tosses her out of the ring.
Bakuken stands in front of the unconscious Kurama and whacks him in the face.
“Heh heh…makes a great punching bag.” Smirks Bakuken.
He then kicks Kurama, sending his life less like body tumbling.
Koto looks over the arena’s edge.
“Kurama is down! Kurama is down! I’m starting the count! 1! 2!” Koto shouts, obvious it everyone that she believes in fair play; even though she does likes killing as much as the next demon.
“7! 8! 9!” Koto almost makes it when Bakuken, who was walking over to Kurama’s body during the count, picks him up.
“Hey!” shouts Yusuke.
“See? He’ right back up again. Can’t keep this boy down…heh.” Bakuken says, with a smirk.
“You….bastard…” growls Yusuke, his eyes showing fire.
“Dam him…” you growl, though still tired.
You hug Kuwabara in a death grip to you; which if he was to wake up at this moment would have been choking to death from it. Luckily for him, he was unconscious, or so you thought…
“I just love a scrappy opponent!” Bakuken says, about to slam his fist into Kurama’s face.
“Stop it, Bakuken!” says the remaining cloaked fighter.
“Risho! I was about to—“
“Take a spirit gun bolt, you idiot. Look behind you.” Risho says, though still cloaked.
Bakuken looks to see Yusuke with his spirit gun pointing right at him, charging up.
“He will kill you. At this point he doesn’t care about the rule, which you are willfully flouting anyway. And he cares even less what the audience will think.” says Risho.
“So let it be. We’re here to win, not indulging our blood lust.” finishes Risho.
“You, Toya, Gama, and Jin are sooo civilized. You don’t see winning means utterly demolishing your opponent!” Bakuken says.
He then turns to the pissed off Yusuke.
“But I would like a real fight!! Come up you!” Bakuken says, tossing Kurama’s body at Yusuke.
Yusuke easily caught his fallen comrade.
“Kurama…”
Kurama was out.
Yusuke’s eyes were cold and blank as he glared up at the scum that stood in the arena.
“10! Kurama’s out-of-bounds! Bakuken wins!!” Koto says, seeming relieved.
“Yusuke!” You shout.
Yusuke turns to you.
“Lay Kurama over here…I can be his pillow too, k?” you say, giving him a weak smile.
Yusuke just nods and brings his unconscious friend over to you.
As soon as he lays Kurama against your side, you grab a hold of his shirt, keeping him close to you.
“Yusuke…please…be careful…and don’t lose your self in there…you’re the only older brother I got…” you say, looking dead into his eyes with the most serious tone he had ever heard you use.
Yusuke’s eyes turned back to normal and he smiled at you.
“Don’t worry ‘bout me lil sis. I won’t do that to you.”
You let go and brought that arm to go around Kurama’s shoulder, leaning him more against you.
Yusuke slowly walks back to the arena, his eyes cold and blank again.
“And now—the fourth match!” Koto says.
“Heh…that was a close one...for your side…” smirks Hiei as he looks at the worried Luka.
(*%And ours! Can’t blame Yusuke or Hiei for wanting to strike back, but it would’ve provoked a melee with the entire stadium! Not to mention another ruling against us by the committee! %*) thinks the masked fighter letting out sigh of relief.
Yusuke and Bakuken stare each other down.
“Urameshi vs. Bakuken! Begin!” says Koto. Bakuken began to charge up while Yusuke just gave him the deadliest glare that you had ever seen.
All of a sudden a thick fog covered the entire arena, making it hard to see.
Bakuken has created a covering fog from his sweat! Phew!! Urameshi won’t be able to get a bead on him!” shouts Koto.
Bakuken came out of the fog and punches Yusuke, sending him skidding, though still on his feet. When Yusuke stops, his head is turned to the side and his eyes closed. Yusuke’s eyes opened and he wiped away the drop of blood that started to run down the corner of his mouth, with the back of his hand.
“Heh heh heh…no clue eh? You’re just another punching bag, buddy.” Bakuken says.
Yusuke starts to laugh.
“Huh? What’s….he laughing at?” Bakuken says aloud.
“Now I know you didn’t kill Kurama! Not with these wussy punches!” Yusuke says his face dead serious.
Bakuken roared, out raged at the insult.
“And you’re a piker compared to Jin ain’tcha!”
“Wh-what?!”
“His wind could blow this stinky fog away in an instant! Take away your trick and you lose every advantage!” Yusuke says.
“Germ! Shut yer moth! You talk mighty big for someone who an only pass wind!” growls Bakuken, coming up behind Yusuke.
“I’ll crush your puny skull!” Bakuken shouts, about to attack Yusuke.
All of a sudden, Yususke fires his spirit gun at the arena floor, not only causing the fog to disappear, but as well as him self.
“Huh? That blast blew away my fog!! And…where’d he go?!” Bakuken says.
“Here’s a prediction…” Yusuke says, behind a stunned Bakuken, winding up his right arm.
“…I’ll wrap this up in a two page spread!!” Yusuke shouts.
((A/N: He’s referring to a two page panel in a manga ^_^ hahaha))
Yusuke slams his fist right into Bakuken’s side; several cracking sounds were heard from his side, meaning Yusuke had broken his ribs.
“Gah! Wheeze! Wheeze! Hack…M-my ribs….!!” Gasps Bakuken.
“Heh…better cook up some fog pal.” Yusuke says his face stone cold.
“Hold on! You busted my ribs! I can’t fight with busted ribs!” Bakuken says, while holding his injured side with his right hand, while his left was out stretched in a stop signal.
“Really? You’re still standing, ain’t cha?” Yusuke asks his voice dryly and eerily cold.
“Well…heh…look I was just…I mean it was…” stuttered the scared demon.
Yusuke clenched his fist and smirked.
He brought back his fist, a look that showed that he was more then pissed off on his face.
“Your own idea of an able fighter!! And it sounds good to me!!” Yusuke shouts, as he brings his fist forward, hitting Bakuken six times in all of his vital points of his body, which sends the demon fling back into the wall next to where Jin was leaning against.
Jin had a grin on his face, as Yusuke glared at his opponent you were now in the audience.
“Bakuken’s out of bounds! Staring the count!” Koto says.
Yusuke turns and starts to walk out of the arena, towards where you and Kurama and Kuwabara were.
“10! Urameshi wins….eh?” Koto looks and just watches as Yusuke walks up to you.
“Kurama….”
Kurama blinks his eyes a few times before opening them.
“I’d…hoped to beat three of them myself…” Kurama says, still lying against you.
“You ok, though?” Yuskue asks his voice full of concern.
“As far as the beatings, yeah. My deadly vetch is the real problem. It’s from the demon plane, so getting it out of my system will take time. I …..Heh….must reap what I’ve sow.” Kurama says, giving Yusuke a smile.
“Besides…” he lays his head back on your shoulder, only lifting it up so he could give Yusuke a smile.
“I got a soft new pillow and it seems just by being next to (YAFN)-chan has quickly replenished my strength.” Kurama says, smiling.
You blushed.
“Awww…you flit you.”
Yusuke smiles and gives the two of you the thumps up sign.
“Then you take it easy and enjoy that new pillow of yours…I’ll deal with these last two.” Yusuke says.
“Alright, but be careful. The first three were of varying quality—but the last two are top level.” Kurama says.
“Doesn’t change the fact that I aim to win!” Yusuke says.
Okay, I hope you guys all three chapters! Man...I spoiler you guys sometimes ^_~. Hahaha. Until next time!
