Scene 22
Scene 22 ------------- Spirit World/The Next Morning
* George looks up from the file he's reading when the large main door swings open slowly. When Koenma enters the ogre leaps up onto his feet out of the Prince's chair.
George- Koenma, sir..
Koenma- Don't scream at me, Ogre! And put yourself on report!
* The royal Teen places the icepack back on his head as he stumbles toward the desk.
George- On report? For what? Are you still sick, sir?
* Koenma waves his free hand.
Koenma- What the h--- do I care?! Make something up for s---'s sake! - Isn't it obvious to you that I'm still not feeling well? I haven't slept since those two came up missing!
George- Yes, sir.. You're hardly ever late, sir.. Perhaps you should take the day off?
* Koenma watches Gerge hide the file he's still holding behind his back.
Koenma- Who's file is that?
George- File? What file?
* Koenma narrows his eyes. George sweatdrops nervously.
Koenma- George, I am not.. in a playful mood.. Give me that d--- file and go get me a cup of coffee.. Black!
George- Of course, sir.. I'll just slip this back in this huge pile of..
Koenma- Do you want to feel even worse than me, George?
* George freezes as he bends to shuffle the file back under the pile. He allows Koenma to snatch the file, then shakes his head and leaves quickly to get the coffee. When Koenma sees that the file is Hiei's red-flagged one he opens it to find out what has been added. After reading the new information it reminds him of what he was supposed to be researching. He removes the loose certificate inside and drops the file over onto the 'Read' pile then drops his head onto the desk.
Koenma- Ow.
* The Teen lifts his head back up and rubs his temples as he perches his elbows on the desk.
Koenma- Well, I guess it was inevitable sooner or later.. At least she agreed to stay there.. I've got to find out that information for him but I've exhausted just about every lead..
* George returns with the big cup of black coffee. He places it and a blank form on the desk under Koenma's face.
George- Were you talking to me, sir?
Koenma- No.. What is this?
* Koenma indicates the blank form.
George- My report. Just sign it and I'll fill in the details later.
* Koenma rolls his eyes, stamps the form, then stamps the birth certiicate he took out of Hiei's file.
Goerge- How many does this make now, sir?
Koenma- I'm not keeping count.
* Koenma places the certificate over into the 'Out' basket, waves George away, then grudgingly settles into his stamping routine with the rest of the paperwork, moaning with each stamp. His aching head keeping perfect time to his pace. When he can take the pounding no longer he thumps the stamper down with a growl and looks toward George who is now over at his computer console.
Koenma- Have you relocated any trace of Yusuke and Kurama?
George- No, sir.. It's as if they vanished.. or something.. I'm scanning both Demon World and Human World, sir.
* Koenma lays his head down on his desk a bit gentler, but he still moans.
