Hiei's Harem - PT. 17 - Breaking

Shadowwolf03, thanks for your understanding words. When it rains my arthritis bothers me terribly, but this week it’s been especially bad. It hurts me all up through my shoulders making typing very hard. To repay your patience I’m going to add three new scenes today. :o)

Scene 20 --------- Human World


* Kuwabara is busy fixing the sliding shoji door on the back porch of the shrine. He feels Yusuke and Kurama approaching and turns to glance toward them.


Kuwabara- Hey, Kurama. It’s good to see you.

Kurama- Keeping busy, I see.

Kuwabara- Yeah. Somebody has to do the heavy stuff around here.


* Yusuke and Kurama continue up onto the porch.


Yusuke- I brought Kurama to meet Staci.


* Kuwabara turns back to the door. Yusuke nearly shivers from the cold shoulder he’s just been given. The Toushin chuckles uncomfortably at Kurama.


Kurama- Yes, I would love to meet her.

Kuwabara- She’s resting right now.


* After several moments of him not saying anything else Yusuke rubs one of his ears.


Yusuke- Well, uhh.. Kurama’s come all this way..

Kurama- We can wait until she wakes up. It’ll give us time to catch up on old times, Kazuma.


* Kuwabara slides the repaired door to check it.


Kuwabara- If you’re planning on taking off with her again I’ll stop you this time, Urameshi.


* Kurama looks at Yusuke.


Yusuke- No. Look, I didn’t harm her, Kuwa. I didn’t even force her to leave with me in the first place. Didn’t she tell you that?


* Kuwabara sighs deeply, drops the hammer into the toolbox, then turns to glower at his old teammates.


Kuwabara- No, she hasn’t told us much of anything. That little freak did a mindjob on her with that third eye of his.


* He leans slightly toward Yusuke.


Kuwabara- You know how that feels, I hear.


* Yusuke’s cheeks color a bit.


Kuwabara- But I’m still alive, so I kinda assumed everything worked out.

Kurama- You assumed correctly, Kazuma.

Yusuke- Hiei was a little pissed off at me, but we worked it out.


* Kuwabara grunts then turns and leads them inside. Yukina comes to the doorway of the common room as Kuwa motions their guests to be seated.


Yukina- I thought I felt someone familiar. Oh, hello, Kurama. It’s good to see you.


* Yusuke rolls his eyes.


Kurama- Yukina. You look lovely as always.


* The Koorime maiden blushes as she bows to him politely.


Yukina- Shall I make some tea?

Kurama- No need to put yourself out.

Yusuke- Kurama’s here to meet Staci.

Yukina- Oh. I’ll get her. She’s helping me in the kitchen.

Kurama- We were told that she was resting.

Yukina- She does sleep a lot more recently, but not for long.


* Just then Staci comes up behind Yukina.


Staci- Are you two talking about me again?


* Yukina turns to smile up at her.


Yukina- Oh, here you are.. There’s a couple of Hiei’s friends here to.. check up on you.

Staci- Isn’t that sweet? Hiei’s probably busy doing.. whatever it is that demons do.


* Yusuke and Kurama glance at each other. When Staci continues on into the room to meet them, though, she freezes when Yusuke looks back up at her. Kuwabara moves to her when she shakes her head and stumbles backward.


Kuwabara- Woah, easy now, Momma.


* Yukina moves around to get between Staci and the visitors. They feel her put a shield up protectively.


Yukina- Staci?

Staci- I.. I can’t.. be in here with them.. They’re dangerous.


* Kuwabara catches on to what she’s feeling and glances toward them.


Kuwabara- It’s your energy, guys.. You know what it does to Humans.

Yusuke- But I thought I helped her get over..


* Kurama grabs Yusuke’s arm.


Kurama(Quietly)- She don’t remember any of that.

Yusuke- Oh, yeah.


* Yusuke and Kurama both concentrate a moment on shielding their energies. When Yukina drops her shield Staci calms down, but still regards the two strangers with more caution as Kuwa and Yukina help her to an armchair. When she’s settled in the chair she begins to rub her distended belly. Kurama smiles his warmest at her in an attempt to put her more at ease.


Kurama- Please forgive us. We haven’t been here in a while. My name is Kurama.


* Staci nods a greeting, but keeps her eyes locked on Yusuke.


Staci- So Hiei sent you?

Yusuke- You could say that.. We’re good friends of his.

Kurama- You were correct. He has been very busy lately.

Staci- So he knows that you’re here this time?


* Yusuke and Kurama exchange quick, puzzled glances.


Yusuke- He told us we could come check on you.

Kurama- To make sure that you’re safe. He trusts us. You can trust us as well, Miss.


* Staci tears her eyes away from Yusuke to look at Kurama.


Staci- Staci.. It’s just.. Staci.

Kurama- You have no last name?

Staci- I.. don’t know.

Kuwabara- Ixne on atthe, Kurama. (1)


* Staci looks up at Kuwabara.


Staci- Why can’t I remember my full name? I should have two, right?


* She grimaces as she raises a hand to her temple.


Staci- J-Ja.. gan-shi.


* Yusuke and Kurama look at her a bit shocked. Kuwabara rolls his eyes with a moan of annoyance.


Kuwabara- Not again..

Staci- But.. that can’t be my last name.. It’s his.. I’m not.. m-married to..

Yukina- Staci,..

Staci- I miss him.. so much.. But I shouldn’t feel this way.. I can’t be in l-love with..

Yukina- That’s enough for now, Sister. Come on, let’s go to your room. You need to rest again.


* Staci lets Yukina help her up and lets the Koorime escort her out of the room. Kuwabara sighs and looks back at his friends.


Kuwabara- I think something malfunctioned with Hiei’s eye this time.. She takes spells like this where she just bawls after him.

Yusuke- Hmm.

Kurama- It’s the bond.. I noticed that she still carries his mark, though it’s a bit faded.

Yusuke- Yeah. That would make sense.

Kuwabara- Wait. Are you telling me that she’ll keep having these spells as long as she has that dragon tattoo on her neck?

Kurama- Until Hiei releases her completely. But he can’t do that until after she has the baby.

Kuwabara- Then he’s just gonna dump her, right? I thought that little b------ was more honorable than that!


* They hear a gasp and look toward the doorway. Staci covers her mouth and takes off. Yukina glares up at Kuwabara.

Yukina- She thought it would be rude to leave without thanking them for coming.


* Yukina turns and follows after Staci. Kuwabara raises a hand to rub his forehead with a curse.


Kuwabara- D---.. Show yourselves out.. I need to go apologize to her.. again.


* He heads for the doorway, then pauses to look back at them.


Kuwabara- And you can tell Hiei not to bother coming back here!

Kurama- You can’t stop him if he comes to see her, Kazuma. He’s still connected to her and he will kill you if you try to interfere. The baby will need contact with his energy until it’s born.


* Yusuke and Kurama stand.


Yusuke- Besides, he’s not having an easy time with this, either. Don’t judge what you have no understanding of, Kuwa.


* Yusuke and Kurama leave. Kuwabara shakes his head and continues off toward Staci’s bedroom.
