-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Evil poured Hiei a shot, slopping it over the sides in a horrible display of coordination. Hiei took the shot with a solemn look and tossed it back, squenching his eyes as he slammed the shot glass back down on the table. His fist shot into the air triumphantly as his eyes cleared again… mostly.

“I don’t need him!” he announced decisively, pushing the shot over to Evil for his turn.

Evil grinned at him and sloshed another shot of the tequila into the glass.

“Y’righ! Y’don need’m! Y’don nee anybo’y. B’d’y’wan’m?” he asked as he took another shot. Hiei watched him take his shot with a contemplative frown.

“Yeah,” he said slowly, thinking it over slowly in his muddled mind.

“Then take’m! Tell’m he’s yours an he’s no choice!” Evil exclaimed, pouring himself another shot. Hiei watched mournfully as Evil took the next shot.

“He doesn’t want me,” he said plaintively, reaching out to scoot the shot glass closer to him.

“Yes’e does!” Evil exclaimed, shooting up from the ground unexpectedly. Hiei blinked up at him.

“He does?” he asked, looking at the bottle wistfully.

“Las nigh he was bawlin lik’a lil baby! His momma tol’m bou’th baby an’e jus star’d cry’n! H’was mopin round all day an’ then’e foun’ ou’ bout th’baby an’e jus gave in!” he exclaimed before falling back to the ground.

“Pour me another shot!” Hiei demanded, holding out his glass. Evil poured him one and watched him down it, then poured him another. Hiei downed the second one as well and swayed slightly in his seat.

The front door opened and Kurama walked in, and then froze, blinking. He’d thought Evil was inviting Hiei over tomorrow night!

“Ku-!” Hiei jumped up angrily just to be grabbed by the cloak and pulled down into Evil’s lap. It wasn’t very hard, given how drunk Hiei was. He blinked and swayed slightly before resting his head against Evil’s chest to clear the dizziness caused by the sudden up-down movement.

“K’rama! Y’better come claim this’n cause he’s’a sexy beast!” Evil exclaimed by way of greeting. Kurama blinked several times in an attempt to keep his eyes from bulging out of his head

“Evil, where’s Botan?” he asked pointedly. Evil’s face fell.

“Workin! Shtupid baby came’n took’er ‘way,” he said mournfully. Kurama blinked. So she had been behind on her soul collection.

“Don’t worry, Evil, she’ll come back when she’s caught up on work. Her job is important, you know,” he assured him, keeping his eyes carefully averted from the sight of Hiei snuggled up against Evil. Evil reached under the table and pulled up a half gallon of crown, causing Kurama’s eyes to successfully bulge this time.

“I’s yer shot!” he proclaimed loudly, gesturing for Kurama to sit down.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kurama stared blearily at the shot Evil had just poured for him.

“’nother one?!” he protested, trying to get up from the table. He’d had way too much! He couldn’t think straight. What had possessed Evil to buy him a half-gallon of crown to kill alone? Hiei was passed out under the table, purring between snores. It was the strangest sound. Evil had spilled the crown everywhere before getting it into the glass for Kurama.

“Jus’n more!” Evil assured him. Kurama eyed him uncertainly as he swayed in place and nodded, or tried to at least, before grabbing the shot and downing it, sloshing half of it over his hand and face. He stood slowly and swayed in place before turning green and lurching for his room, trying to reach the bathroom connected to it before he puked. He managed to make it as far as the window in his room and threw it open, leaning out it. He had a problem with the concept of getting so drunk one puked on the carpet. It wasn’t polite at all!

Hiei twitched and opened an eye, examining the room.

“Where’d K’rama go?” he asked, uncurling and crawling out from under the table to peer at Evil. Evil pouted.

“Lost his liquor,” he replied mournfully, half pointing at his room. Hiei pushed himself up, swayed a bit, and then walked into Kurama’s room to see what Evil meant. He stood in the doorway, using the frame to hold himself up as his eyes adjusted to the light. He frowned when he saw that Kurama was dry heaving out the window and stumbled over to him.

“K’rama? Y’kay?” he asked with concern, leaning on the windowsill. Kurama panted lightly as he paused his heaving, letting his weight rest completely on the windowsill, then looked at Hiei in confusion.

“What’re you doing here?” he asked. Losing his stomach’s contents had cleared up his speech and thought a little. But he was obviously still way too messed up if Hiei was showing concern for him. Hiei’s face fell noticeably at his reply and he turned around to stumble back out of the room, drunken tears already forming in his eyes. Kurama’s eyes widened as he saw he was putting himself right back in the hole he’d dug before, and leapt up from the window to grab Hiei. He forgot how drunk he was, though, and ended up tackling Hiei to the ground, laying atop him and blinking at the dizziness.

Hiei felt stung by Kurama’s words as he turned away, going back to the living room to curl up, ashamed of the tears he felt in his eyes. He’d just come in to check on the stupid fox. He sniffed quietly as he walked, then cried out in surprise as Kurama landed on him, his greater weight pushing him to the ground. His heart beating frantically with the surprise, he stared up into Kurama’s green eyes, wondering what had gotten into the stupid fox. The stupid… sexy… fox. He wrapped his arms around Kurama, pulling him down as he tried to get up, pressing his lips needingly to his.

“Hiei?” Kurama pulled away, startled, to look into the ruby orbs beneath him. Hiei turned his head away.

“I’m… sorry. I know you don’t really want me anymore but I…” His voice still slurred, but it was nowhere near as gone as Evil’s. He trailed off as his shoulders started to shake slightly. Kurama was still staring at him; silent until he saw the gems roll away from Hiei’s face.

“No, Hiei! That’s not it at all!” he protested, tilting his head so that he was once more looking into those beautiful red eyes. “No…I was scared… I was confused…” he started, kissing Hiei lightly all over his face as he spoke. “I didn’t want to face all the changes it would make in my life… I thought you hated me for what I did to you still, despite what you sad… I… Do you hate me now? Oh, Hiei, I’m so sorry about the baby. I didn’t know! Had I known… but no… you saved me. You should have… Oh, I don’t know!” he stopped speaking, his inability to form his thoughts coherently through his drink mind distressing him. Hiei was blinking at him in surprise.

“I don’t hate you, K’rama…” he began, only to be cut off.

“I was afraid to commit, afraid to admit I liked a guy, afraid, afraid, afraid! How pathetic of me! Thousands of years of knowledge and experience and I’m afraid to love a man?! But that’s just it. I love you, Hiei, I love you, I do, and I’ve loved you since I met you and I was running from it then too and I’m not running anymore, I’m not, and if you’ll forgive me I’ll love you forever and—“ he was cut off this time with a fierce kiss, Hiei’s fingers digging into his back, holding on as though he might disappear. When they finally paused fore breath Hiei looked him as squarely in the eyes as possible with his brain swimming in alcohol.

“Forever?” he demanded. Kurama smiled and nodded.

“Forever, I promise.”

“Heeeey, you guuuuys!” Evil called merrily, grinning at his cunning use of the line from Goonies as he barrled through the open door. He examined the couple on the floor, who were glaring at him.

“D’joo guys make up yet?” he demanded, peering sternly down at them. Kurama nodded impatiently, maintaining his glare at Evil while his hands busily yanked Hiei’s cloak off and started to untuck his tank top. Evil grinned and pulled out the half full bottle of crown.

“I’s time for a celliba… cellaba… cilla… cellebra…. A SHOT!” Evil stumbled several times over the word “celebratory” before giving up and pulling out the tumblers he’d replaced the shot glasses with. Evil was trying to kill them. Kurama got Hiei free of his tank top just as Hiei reached up to start unbuttoning his silk shirt.

“Evil, we’re busy!” Kurama announced, gasping as Hiei nipped at a nipple just as soon as he had the shirt unbuttoned. He laced his fingers in Hiei’s hair, his eyes half lidded as the smaller demon started to suck and lick his nipple attentively. Evil grinned widely and plopped down on the ground so that he could more efficiently pour the “shots.” The one good point to the tumblers was that he didn’t spill nearly as much this time.

“I’m tak’n’nother shot b’fore bed!” he replied as he tried to force the tumbler into Kurama’s entangled hand. Kurama started to glare again, but lost his thoughts as Hiei moved his attentions to his other nipple and his head tilted back with a moan. He caught his breath enough to reply after a moment.

“If I take it will you go away?” he asked plaintively, feeling his pants tightening rather uncomfortably. Evil nodded and grinned triumphantly as Kurama accepted the tumbler and pulled Hiei up to receive his. They tapped their glasses and shot back 8 ounces each, all of them gasping as their eyes watered from the powerful shots. Hiei moaned as his eyes unfocused, and lay back to stare at the ceiling.

“K’rama was right… you’re tryin t’kill us!” he exclaimed in an accusing tone. They both jumped when Evil fell to the ground with an enormous thud. Kurama quickly moved to make sure he was all right and found that he’d just passed clean out. He held his hand to his head as if to steady it, but the world kept spinning. Hiei got up and crawled over to him, pushing him to the ground with a kiss. Kurama moaned against his lips as his body pressed against his needingly, rubbing their hips together, pressing their erections against each other through their pants. Kurama tried to roll Hiei over so that he could get on top, but found he was far to impeded.

“Uuuugh… I’m gonna kill Evil. Hiei… I can’t. Not tonight. Tha’shot…”

Hiei nodded and rolled off of him and on to the ground.

“Good… I can’t either…” he admitted, slowly picking his words. Kurama rolled onto his side and pulled Hiei into his arms, resting his head against his shoulder so that he could lay his own head on Hiei’s. He smiled as he fell into sleep, content in the knowledge that there would be time for it tomorrow, the next day, and the day after that. Forever.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Andy, is that them?”

“Yeah, it’s both of them, passed out like pussies.”

“Dude, is that the chick?”

“She cut her hair, man!”

“I thought you said she had big tits?”

“She does look kinda flat…”

“It’s just dark, dumbasses.”

“Son of a bitch tries to kill me and then moves into my room!”

Kurama groaned, keeping his eyes shut as he tried to trick hrainrain into going back to sleep by not admitting he was awake. He was way too drunk… if he stayed up he was going to get sick.

Were those voices? Were those voices in the room? Were they talking about…? His eyes snapped open and he noted many feet in his vision from the ground. At least seven pairs on this side. Definitely several behind him. He slowly pulled Hiei closer to him protectively. What to do? He couldn’t move fast enough to get away, he wasn’t coordinated enough to fight, and he was definitely too wasted to trust his ki.

“Get the big guy first, he’ll be the most trouble,” a familiar voice whispered. He raised his eyes slowly without moving his head to see a gun get passed over him. They were going to shoot Evil. He let go of Hiei and jumped up, standing over his body. He lurched as he moved and nearly fell back down. What was he going to do? He could hardly move. Thinking hurt. Everyone jumped when he moved, several exclamations emitting from startled lips. Someone punched him so hard he stumbled, then again so that he fell to the ground with a groan. The room was spinning before, but now…

He looked over to Hiei’s small form and held in the curse he wanted to let loose. Hiei’s eyes were shut but he was chanting as quickly as he could under his breath, his lips barely moving. His wards were starting to smoke. Kurama winced. He couldn’t control the Dragon now, not now. He had to have been drinking several hours more than he… but he had to distract them. He pushed himself up again, getting into a fighting stance.

It was so much more effective when he wasn’t swaying. The gun was being pointed at Evil. He threw himself foreward to knock over the guy with the gun, wincing again as the gunshot off next to his ear mid fall, the bullet hitting the ceiling. He rolled away quickly after hitting the ground, knowing it was a bad idea to stay still after agitating the man with the gun. He pushed himself back up off the ground and ran to head butt Andy, knocking both of them to their asses. Several startled curses were let loose as an eerie dark light began to suffuse the room in its glow. Kurama immediately picked out the dragon’s immense form swelling in the darkness of the room. It was twitching and moving restlessly. Hiei didn’t have full control. He froze. This would be it for him. Without control it would kill everyone in the room, including Hiei. Hiei’s eyes snapped open and he pushed himself up, his pale and muscled chest glowing in the light of the Dragon. His eyes were unfocused. He was swaying where he stood. Kurama looked at Evil’s prone form and frowned, and then at the other men, who had all begun to advance on Hiei.

“No,” he whispered, trying to stand, only to be grabbed by someone he hadn’t noticed standing next to him. He struggled in vain against the stronger arms until the barrel of the gun was pressed against his head. He froze, closing his eyes.

A wave of energy blasted through the room, knocking them off of their feet. He tried to stand, only to be tackled by the one wielding the gun again. The barrel was pressed to his forehead this time, but Kurama ignored it, wrenching his head around to stare at Hiei, looking just in time to see him release the dragon. It roared and surged into the air, coming down with lightning speed. It was not controlled. It was out of control.

“DON’T KILL!” Kurama screamed at Hiei as loudly as he could as the dragon reached them. Several moments of excruciating pain and then… it was gone. Kurama moaned in pain and shoved the unconscious man off of him. He’d served as a shield for the blast, thankfully. The glow was flashing erratically around Hiei… the dragon was attacking Hiei? He was screaming in the center of the energy field, his mouth open, the veins in his neck popping, but no sound made it past the barrier. Kurama’s blood froze for a moment… then he launched himself across the room, tackling Hiei to the ground, wrapping him protectively in his arms. Such pain… such horrible, horrible pain… Everything was slowly fading to black… everything but the pain…
