Prologue
Author’s note: This story takes place after the ending of the series. Kurama does consultant work for Enki and the three lords. The former kings (Yusuke, Mukuro, and Yomi) are lords that reside over the three territories and report to Enki about problems that need to be taken care of. Yusuke didn’t break all ties to the demon realm; he occasionally comes to help out with the major problems (mainly, misbehaving demons). Hiei still works under Mukuro, and in this story he is more of a son to her than a lover. Hiei is also around 5’0” tall. The three territories have become very interactive and have begun sharing information with one another. That’s about all the background you need at the moment, the rest you will learn in the story.
Somewhere close to the border to the Ningenkai in the territory of Alaric, a meeting was taking place amongst the wealthiest of slavers.
“We shouldn’t have to stop our production of slaves just because a pansy like Enki has taken the throne,” says a demon slaver that resembled a rat, “We’ve been working for years buying and selling demons and humans to the highest bidder. Why should we stop now?”
Another slaver, who resembles a lizard, steps forward, “We have to be careful on who we take. Everyone knows that Mukuro despises all slavers and has tried to abolish the act of slavery for centuries. All we need to do is find ourselves some powerful demons to breed and to build up our defenses. Before long we can pull all our collective works together and form an army the likes of which no one has seen before!! Then we can take control of the Makai and live as Kings!!!!”
“Yes, but how do you propose we do that?” asks another, “It’s hard enough controlling B class demons and those aren’t strong enough to come close to being in an army. I have very few A class at my disposal and those require intense controlling spells and seals along with power limiters, which cost a fortune. So, I ask again how?”
The lizard replies, “I have a few A class myself, but I also have a few S class at my disposal.”
“How the hell do you have S class slaves?!?!” exclaims a boar demon in attendance.
“Why I just bound their life forces with mine and threw in a couple of power seals powerful enough to bring any demon to its knees,” replies the lizard, holding up his arms showing off the controlling tattoos signaling that he was telling the truth. “All I need are some strong mates for my boys so I can breed them for all their worth.”
“If you can capture them, I can probably arrange for some strong demons to be sent your way,” says the rat.
“Good, I’ll be waiting for their arrival,” the lizard replies. He turns and starts to head back to his breeding facility.
The others soon disperse to their various homes. The rat starts his plans on getting some powerful demons to come the lizard’s way. He comes up with a plan that ensures that Enki will send out his dogs to prevent the capture and torture of the humans. After all news of a slaver going to the Ningenkai and capturing humans will get his attention. The best part is he himself will never be a part of it if it all goes to hell. It will all be on the lizard’s head. The rat snickers as he sets his plan in motion by spreading around rumors of a large breeding facility near the border of the Ningenkai that is capturing and breeding humans against their will.
Meanwhile back at the breeding facility, a meeting of a different sort was being held.
A group of men were meeting in the slave barracks, discussing plans on how to get out of the slaver’s grasp.
“I think I have finally figured out a way to get out of this hellhole,” said Norio, who has been trying to come up with a plan to get free without getting them all killed.
“We can’t. Our lives are bound to his. Trust me if it weren’t for that fact, he would be long dead,” Katsu explained.
“Yes, but the trick is to find a way to kill him and not die ourselves,” says Norio.
“That’s impossible!” exclaims Akihiko. “We are trapped until we die or he does! Even if he sells, us we will be stuck with the new bastard, and he/she may be worse!”
“Of course, but what if we choose our new masters? I heard that lowlife is bringing in some new slaves that are to be paired with each of us. I also heard that they were incredibly strong. I think I know a way to bind our lives with theirs. Then we can find a way to get out from there. We can try to negotiate with them for our freedom. We will have more freedom after our master dies, since the limiters are bound by his power. He dies, they go away. From there it should be easy,” said Norio.
“What if it doesn’t work? What if the new masters are worse?” Akihiko asks, “You said that they are strong, what if they would rather get rid of us than help us?”
“We will have our own strength, so we will either be as strong or stronger. So we will hopefully be evenly matched. Don’t worry about it,” Norio explained.
“Riiiight. Well anyway, where is Dai?” Akihiko asks.
“Where you should be, on guard duty,” Norio answers.
“Oh! Right! Well, umm. I have to go. See ya!!” Akihiko says, hurriedly. He then runs for the door, with Katsu walking after shaking his head.
