Scene 2 ----------------- The Tavern
* As they reach the rundown building Hiei glances up at his new purchase.
Hiei- My name is Hiei.
Slave- (Mumbled) I already gathered that much.
* Hiei lets the comment slide as they enter the Tavern. The Koorime takes a quick look around the near-empty room. He then leads the slave over to the bar where the only occupant is. The demon doesn't even bother to look up from the tap he's fixing.
Bartender- I'm closed today.
Hiei- Whatever. I hear you have rooms to rent. I need one for the night.
* The bartender glances up, then does a double take when he recognizes who has entered.
Bartender- Minoro..? Lord Hiei?
* Hiei glances up at the boy who looks away in an obviously nervous manner.
Hiei- Hn. Don't make me repeat myself.
* The fat demon behind the bar nods and scoots to a section of the wall behind the bar. He quickly selects one of the few remaining keys hanging there and shuffles back.
Bartender- Here, M'Lord. This is the best hut I have left.. It's one of the few I own that has running water and..
Hiei- How much?
Bartender- Uhh.. uhhmm..
* Hiei pretends not to notice the nervous glance the slobbish demon casts toward the slave. Nor the slight shrug the boy, named Minoro, returns.
Bartender- Oh, please.. For-for the heir of our beloved L-Lord Mukuro, not a cent.. All I ask is that you re-rem-member m-my kindness,.. S-sir.. Please..
Hiei- Hn.
* Hiei takes the key. As he signs in he cracks his jagan open slightly to scan the unsuspecting bartender. The rotund demon is too busy scowling at Minoro to notice. Minoro shurgs silently again and looks away. The bartender rolls his eyes and turns his attention back to Hiei.
Bartender- Will you require a meal to be brought?
Hiei- Hn.. Two meals.. Put it on Mukuro's tab, as well as this room.
Bartender- T-two..?
* Hiei glares up at the slobbish demon.
Hiei- Are you blind? There are two of us here.
Bartender- Y-You're going to.. f-feed.. him?
* Hiei growls, becoming more than a little aggitated at this demon's nervousness. Not to mention the information he's just gleaned from his unexpecting brain.
Hiei- Do you wish to continue your existance?!
* The fat demon quickly bows and apologizes frantically.
Hiei- Now where will we be staying?
Bartender- Minoro can.. sh-show you the way.
* The bartender hurries away through a swinging door. Hiei turns to look up at his new acquisition.
Hiei- Are you going to argue with me some more or show me where we'll be spending the night? Minoro, is that your name?
* For a moment the slave stares down at his diminutive new master. Then, with a sigh of resignation he nods and waves toward the door on the other side of the small barroom.
Minoro- Through that door.
* Hiei holds out a hand.
Hiei- You go through first.
* Not much surprised by Hiei's caution, the young demon shrugs and leads the way. Once they are through the squeaky door Hiei falls into step beside Minoro. They make their way down a long, wide alley that is lined on both sides with shabby-looking huts of various sizes.
Minoro- What number's on the key?
* Hiei checks the tag on the key.
Hiei- Ten.
Minoro- Yup. That's one of his best ones.. Here.
* The Hyena hybrid motions toward the hut they stop in front of. Hiei tosses him the key. Minoro tilts his head down at Hiei. The Koorime drops his chain lead.
Minoro- D---, you've been around these kinda places a lot, huh?
Hiei- Just open the d--- door and go inside.
* The younger demon gives a slight smirk as he turns to unlock the door. He hurries inside.
Minoro- Get 'im, guys!
* Since Hiei still has his jagan half open he already knows what he'll find inside. With a shake of his head he enters and slams the door shut behind him.
