Shura's Quest - A New Situation

If you like my story, please review. With all the negativity I've been getting on other sites concerning my "style" I've been getting kinda submit-shy, I guess is the best way to put it. I said I wouldn't beg or threaten for reviews and I'm not, I'm just looking for some support, I guess. So this isn't a 'if you don't review, I'm not updating' thing. Honest. I'm still undecided about whether I want to continue even posting on FF(dot)net anymore, so for right now this is the only site you'll find this sequel being posted. :o/

Scene 2 ------------------------------------------- The Laboratory Building

* Shura leads a couple scientists into his special room. He turns to look up at them and removes a vial of blood from a pocket.


Shura- This is the last installment that we've been waiting on..

Dr. Merygos- The Mazoku's blood?

Shura- Yes. And I was just informed that General Mukakai has returned with Kandero's replacement. They will be here shortly. But I want the two of you to begin the final infusion.

Dr. Merygos- Of course, I've assisted Kandero in doing this before..

Dr. Eiyoso- But we don't possess the magic that..


* Shura waves a hand dismissively as he turns to go over to the tank.


Shura- No magic will be necessary for this infusion.. This will just mix the mazoku's pure power into my son.


* Dr. Merygos holds the vial up to inspect it.


Dr. Merygos- You're certain this is the Mazoku's blood?


* Shura looks back at the doctor incredulously.


Shura- Of course it is.. That was the only demon that bug was programmed to feast on.


* The two doctors glance at each other, shrug, then move to begin the transfer.


Dr. Eiyoso- Sure looks like normal blood to me.


* Shura scowls at the doctors.


Shura- What? Did you expect it to glow in the dark or something?

Dr. Merygos- Of course not, it just..


* Dr. Merygos sniffs the open vial tentatively.


Dr. Merygos- It smells..

Shura- Just do the d---ed infusion already!


* The two doctors roll their eyes at each other when Shura turns back toward the boy, but their job is just to follow orders and preserve their own lives as best they can. When the infusion is completed they move to stand behind Shura and watch the boy inside the tank begin to squirm. Shura claps his hands and nods excitedly when the Mazoku markings flash briefly on the small boy's naked nody. When the markings fade Shura scowls and turns to look up at the doctors.


Shura- They didn't stay.. What does that mean?

Dr. Merygos- The traits of the blood he absorbs only show briefly until he accepts them..

Shura- But I wanted them to stay!

Dr. Eiyoso- It's normal, sir.. Remember how his ears grew briefly when we put your blood in?


* Shura tilts his head back up at the floating boy.


Shura- Hai.. I wish they would have stayed like mine, too.. He'd be much more handsome..


* Shura shrugs and turns to look up at the doctors.


Shura- Okay. He's ready to be released now, right?

Dr. Merygos- No.. it takes a couple days for the new blood to be incorporated fully.. You'll need this new geneticist to monitor him and be sure that he's adjusting properly..

Shura- Oh, yes.. Of course, I knew that.. I was just testing you..


* The two doctors look at each other but Shura is distracted when the laboratory door slides open. General Mukakai shows Youda in. When Shura recognizes the elderly demon he is left speechless as the two doctors do the greeting.


Dr. Merygos- Master Youda?

Mukakai- I found this guy, Lord Shura.. When he heard that I was looking for someone to help you he jumped at the chance.


* Mukakai glances a nervous shrug down at Youda who has looked up at him. Before Youda can speak Shura yells excitedly and hurries over to throw his arms around him.


Shura- Grandpa!!


* The general raises a hand to rub his forehead with a bit of relief. Shura pulls back but keeps his grasp on Youda's shoulders.


Shura- Now I know everything will work! Come, Grandpa, come see what I've created.. You'll be so proud of me!


* Shura drags Youda over to the tank. Youda looks up at the boy inside.


Shura- He already knows me, too.. watch.


* When Shura taps the glass the boy opens his small red eyes. Youda watches them narrow as the boy's lips twitch in a silent snarl. Shura laughs happily and Youda looks at the young ruler.


Shura- I'm so proud of him, Grandpa.

Youda- You.. created him..?

Shura- Yes.. Oh, it was such a stroke of luck.. His poor mother met a tragic end.. as well as her first baby.. But this one survived..

Youda- This one..?


* Youda looks back up at the boy as Shura leans against the tank and caresses it lovingly.


Shura- Yes..

Youda- Then Mukuro was carrying twins..


* Youda tenses at the slip of his tongue, but Shura doesn't seem to notice as he nods with a giggle.


Shura- Yes.. She was being such a nasty slut, sleeping around with that halfbreed Second of hers.. She was so gaulible to keep that mutt on her staff.. He was a friend of that Mazoku.. The enemy of her throne and she either was too stupid to know or too complacent to care.. I'm glad that all of Demon World knows that I'm the one who finally put an end to her pathetic existance..


* Mukakai and Youda watch the boy's reaction of obvious anger as Shura continues his ramblings. Shura, himself, remains oblivious as he's too lost in relating his 'triumph'.


Shura- At first, I planned to just kill her, but then we discovered that she was pregnant when my soldiers gutted her.. I was too late to save the first child, unfortunately.. My soldiers are so thorough in carrying out my orders.. But luckily, she was carrying twins and I was able to keep this one.


* Shura smiles up at the boy.


Shura- I decided to keep him and raise him as my own son.. My perfect creation..


* Before dwelling too much on the expression on the boy's face Shura turns to look at Youda once again.


Shura- It's a family tradition, right, Grandpa?

Youda- Uh, well.. yes..

Shura- You do remember the book that Father wrote his formula for my own creation in, right?

Youda- Yes.

Shura- Well, I found it! I have it right over here!


* Youda exchanges glances with Mukakai as Shura hurries over to a table on the far side of the room. When Youda goes over to inspect the book and continue listening to Shura's excited prattling about his own ingenious plans the general looks back up at the boy. Nobody else in the room, but Mukakai, notices the single, tiny tear gem fall from the boy's bowed face to float to the bottom of the ooze-filled tank. It is then that Mukakai is sure the boy has understood Shura's words and he moves forward to touch the tank.


(#) Mukakai- He'll pay for what he's done, boy.


* The boy lifts his face once more to meet Mukakai's eyes so intensely that the general wonders if he can read thoughts. Mukakai half glances toward the others gathered over at the table then decides to try to send another thought to the boy.


(#) Mukakai- I'm sorry about your mother and brother, little one.. I truly am.


* Shura suddenly notices Mukakai leaning against the tank.


Shura- Come away from there, General.. You're agitating my son.


* Mukakai jerks away from the tank and goes over with the others.


Mukakai- Uh, sorry.. I was just.. cooing to the little cutie.


* Shura rolls his eyes.


Shura- You're a very silly man, General.


* Shura shakes his head and returns to the discussion about the book. Youda manages to glance toward Mukakai who is once more looking sadly toward the tank.
