Chapter 2

Once found

Kurama walked into work at the hospital the next day with a renewed spring in his step. He picked up Miki’s chart
and made his way into the boy’s recovery room. “Your chart looks good you might be able to…” Shuichi gasped when he saw
the boy heaving and crying in pain, with the IV ripped out of his arm.

“Make it stop! Make…Make it stop please!” Miki sobbed.

Kurama dashed over to Miki and noticed that the boy’s recovery bed was filled with blood. “Oh Inari no!” his
mind reeled as he saw Miki slicked in a cold sweat. “You’re going to be ok!” he pulled the boy out of the bed and leaped
out of the window with his Youkai speed.

“Wh…”

“Shh…just be quiet.” Kurama tried to calm him as he carried the boy in the direction of the temple.

Miki cried out when the sheets came loose. “It hurts!”

Eyes going wide Kurama rushed into a shaded area in the woods quickly covering the boy back up. “What hurts?
…tell me…” he gave Miki a concerned look.

Looking up at Kurama, Tears fell down Miki’s cheeks. “Everything hurts…” all the color was gone from his face the
only color Kurama could see was the vivid blue through Miki’s bangs.

Kurama lifted him up and held him close. “It’s only a little farther…”

“Where…?”

“It’s a safe place.” Kurama leapt up and began moving near Hiei’s speed now. “Why am I so worried about this kid?”
he asked himself. Something about Miki made Kurama feel so scared and worried and so many other emotions.

Kurama sat in the living room at Genkai’s temple and sighed. “I hope he’s ok.” He thought to himself as he
pondered over how Yukina would diagnose him.

“Hey don’t worry about it!” said the dark haired youth sitting across from him, It was Yusuke Urameshi a bad ass
half demon who inherited Genkai’s spirit wave and her temple as well not only that he briefly owned 1/3 of demon
world before the Makkai tournament.

Yusuke’s spirit beast Puu flapped around the room happily. “Puu puu!” he cooed before landing on the dark
haired teens head.

Trying to hide his smile Kurama gained a serious expression. “He was bitten by a vamp…” Kurama said and glared
at Yusuke.

“Yeah, yeah I know the whole story.” Yusuke waved a hand in front of his face as if brushing off the subject.
“But Yukina says you can’t become a vampire unless you drink a certain amount of one’s blood…and if we can get this
kid on our side…if he is a vamp, we can train him to drink without killing.” Yusuke began to grin widely at the
idea of having a vampire as a Reikai Tantei.

Puu just hopped off of Yusuke’s head and flapped around the room again at the notion. The little spirit beast had
the innate ability of acting out Yusuke’s true feelings about certain subjects.

Just hearing Yusuke’s wild team layout made Kurama feel sick. “I don’t want to hear this Yusuke.” He stood up and made
his way to one of the many rooms and flopped down on a futon. “I just don’t want to hear It.” he whispered and closed
his eyes. After a couple of minutes Kurama heard footsteps but he didn’t feel like moving to see who it
was. He didn’t know why but Miki had a strange effect on him those sad blue eyes just called him. “Those blue eyes…”

“Kurama…?”

The red head sat up with a start and looked at Miki with wide eyes.

“…umm…that is what they call you right?” Miki blushed and blinked; a little embarrassed.

Kurama nodded, “Yeah it is.”

Miki sat beside Kurama and sighed. “That Ms. Yukina…she said that she can’t do anything for me.” he looked at his
trembling hand and tears poured down his cheeks.

Kurama sighed and closed his eyes. “I should have brought you here sooner.”

“There’s nothing you could have done.” Miki shook his head. “He would have found me no matter what.”

“Who…?”

“The one who turned me into this…” Miki said softly. “…He snuck into the hospital last night and forced me
to drink his blood.”

Kurama went silent, and the awkward silence carried for a good two minutes before…

“HEY!!!” Yusuke barged into the room. “I just got the good news from Yukina…” he began shaking Miki’s hands wildly.
“Welcome to the team man!”

Puu flapped in behind Yusuke and perched on Miki’s lap “Puu Puu!” he cooed and nuzzled Miki happily.

“T-team?” Miki blinked a few times and stared blankly at Yusuke. He couldn’t help but pet the adorable little
blue penguin thing that rubbed up against his chest.

“Yusuke, what if he doesn’t want to be a Reikai Tantei?” Kurama asked.

Miki looked at Kurama with wide eyes. “A wha…?”

Yusuke broke down laughing, and Kurama slapped himself for doing a very Kuabara thing. Having blurted out the profession
of spirit detective Miki will probably have no choice but to join now.

Yusuke: WHAT THE HELL!!!!

Kurama, and kuwabara: (laughing)

Hiei: (rolls his eyes)
