Chapter 2
fHello everyone here is chapter 2. I am deeply sorry that I did not state that it was going to be a multi chapter story. And for those who like my other stories the good part is closer to the end. Sorry about that but that is how it turned out. I haven’t written the end jet so if you have any ideas I am open to suggestions. So please review me with what you want. Thanks again for your time and again so sorry. Oh, I know the story title sucks but it was the only thing I could come up with, sorry.g
“Where on earth could Kurama be?” A very annoyed Yusuke wondered. He had been searching for his friend and teammate for the past hour. They all went to his school but he was not there. It is not like him not to be there especially during school hours. After that they split in different directions. Kuwabara went to go check Kurama’s house to see if he went home sick. Yusuke decided to go check out the area around the park, and Hiei went to go check out the hospitals, just in case.
Not more than thirty minutes later they received a message from Hiei saying that that is where Kurama was. He told them that one of his friends from school was in a bad car accident and that the doctors don’t think that he will survive the night.
They all met up at the hospital and waited outside the room that Kurama’s friend was in. The name on the side of the door said Kiren Narine. Yusuke remembered hearing a report on T.V. about a terrible car crash. There were only two survivors, a woman and her son. The father had died in the wreak. Yusuke wondered how the woman was doing the report was rather vague. It only said that she was in very bad condition and nothing else. As he thought this a couple nurses spoke to each other in hushed voices, their conversation answered his unspoken question. So, she died. How horrible. Yusuke chose that moment to enter the room. He walked up to Kurama and gently placed a hand on his shoulder.
Kurama’s head flew up and he nearly jumped out of his seat. “Easy Kurama.” Yusuke said quietly. Kurama got up from his seat and stood next to Yusuke. “So, what brings you here?” Kurama asked. Yusuke explained the mission to him, “I’m sorry Kurama, but we really need you on this one.” Yusuke said pained at having to tear one of his good friends away from one who needs him.
“It’s okay Yusuke.” Kurama said as he walked back to the bed. He leaned over and took a hold of Kiren’s hand again speaking to him softly. “I’m sorry Kiren but I have to go. I will be back soon though, I promise.” He let go of Kiren’s hand and got up. As he was walking to the door he heard Kiren cry out suddenly. “NO SHUICHI!! Don’t go! It’s a trap! They’ll kill you! Please Shuichi don’t leave me!! Don’t go!” his cries stopped as suddenly as they started and the machine that monitored his heart began to scream.
At the sound of the alarm the doctors and nurses came rushing in pushing their way past Yusuke and his friends. Kurama just stood there horrified as the doctors and nurses tried to restart his lover’s heart. As he stood there he did the only thing he could think of, “I won’t go Kiren. I won’t. I promise.” And as he said those words Kiren’s heart began to beat again.
When the doctors and nurses were busy with their patient a new visitor arrived and heard Kurama’s promise. Yusuke told him what he heard Kiren say. “So what do we do?” he asked Koenma. “You stay here. I’ll look into it.” Koenma told him and disappeared to do just that. When everything had settled down again Kurama took his place by Kiren’s side taking a hold of his. He laid his head down on the side of the bed feeling drained. Yusuke walked up and pulled a seat next to him and sat down. He told him what Koenma said. “So we wait.” Kurama said a little relieved. “I guess so.” Yusuke said leaning back in the chair. “We might as well get comfortable.” As if on cue Kuwabara took a seat in a near by chair and Hiei took one on the windowsill.
They waited there for a couple hours and still no sign of Koenma. After the first hour Yusuke took out a deck of cards and started up a game with Kuwabara. Kurama stayed by Kiren’s side. Hiei noticed the pained look on his friends face got up from his spot by the window and took a seat across from him. Looking down at the sleeping teen he noticed the bite marks on his neck. *So, you have claimed him as your kokaishi, a good choice. * Hiei said telepathically still looking at Kiren. He looked up at Kurama and said quietly, “He is quite handsome…for a human.”
Kurama looked up at the comment and chuckled softly. “Yes, he is.” He said as he looked back down at his sleeping lover. “You know, he is the one that made the first move.” He told Hiei as he ran his fingers through Kiren’s hair. He chuckled as the memory of that night came back to him. “He asked me if I could help him study for a test that was the next day. I told him yes. My parents had left for a business trip that Monday and I really wanted the company. Although, looking back on it now I believe I had other reasons as well.” Kurama looked down at Kiren and gently began stroking his hair and the sides of his face as he spoke to Hiei. “His presence, his smile, it did something to me. It stirred something deep within me. I ignored it at first, thinking that it was just the youko within me acting up. But when he looked at me the way he did on our way to my house the feeling deepened and it was like I was seeing him for the first time.” He looked up at Hiei, “Really seeing him. I don’t know how else to explain it except for that way.” He looked down at Kiren again and took up his caressing again. “I pushed the feeling away not knowing how he felt for me. Well…I found out later that evening exactly how he felt.” Kurama smiled as he remembered Kiren’s first kiss and how it took him quite by surprise. He told Hiei this, “It was not the kiss itself that took me by surprise, but the fact that I did not hear him coming up that did.”
“He was that quiet?” Hiei asked a little surprised.
“Yeah, I was shocked. I thought perhaps I was loosing my tough.” Kurama said with a smile. Hiei just scoffed at that and Kurama just chuckled. He told Hiei how the rest of the evening went leaving nothing out. Hiei was quite amazed at how much this boy endured at the hands of the youko’s influence. “I was afraid that I might have been too rough. When he saw my concern he told me not to worry that he did not mind it rough.” Kurama remembered Kiren’s words and smiled. “He told me ‘now that I have you I’m never letting you go’.”
“It would seem that he has claimed you as well.” Hiei said then looked at Kurama. “Are you sure he’s not a demon?” Kurama laughed.
It was just a little after sunset when Koenma finally made his appearance. “Kurama, how well do you know your friend?” He asked gesturing towards the boy lying on the bed.
Kurama looked confused. “He’s been a classmate of mine for years but we just started to really get to know one another just a couple days ago, why?”
Koenma still in his teen form sat down elegantly in a chair crossing his legs. “Well, because he was correct. It was a trap and if you had gone there would have been nothing left of you to bring back.”
They all looked at Koenma too shocked for words. Simultaneously they looked at the boy who was still in a deep coma. They were all wondering the same thing…how? Only the two demons had a fair idea.
