"seeing" is believing

She let out a muffled version of his name and not to long after he followed with a fierce howl.

He then lean over and bite her neck claming this beautiful creature as his mate for all time.

“mine” he let out hoarsely eyes tinted with red

She merely nodded while catching her breathe

That was the first time we made love there was many more time after that too. It was hard explaining to the others and finding excuses all the time but somehow we did. Now we here the reason for my anguish the reason for my soul searing pain… the reason why I hurt all over…

~~~~~~~~~~~~Flash back # 5~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was early September; school had start about a week ago. I was feeling a bit weak and on top of the my menstrual cycle was late. It was 2nd period when I was taking my math test that I blacked out. Then I woke up to find my self in the nurse’s office…of course by now you may have guessed the cause for this…yes I was pregnant. I was …I didn’t know how to feel actually. I knew I wanted a child but… at 14! Wow just what had we gotten ourselves into… what would Kurama say to all of this? How would we mange to survive and what would our parents say…Yusuke would defiantly freak!!!!


Should I tell him? of course I had to!!!… But what would he say?

My head hurt just thinking about it!!!

A week later I was to meet Kurama at his house to …talk!!!
Yes it took me a whole week to work up enough courage to tell him I was outside of his apartment right now the door was open so I went in only to hear…

“mmmmmmm I like that Shiuchi!” said a female voice

I froze my heart thumped rapidly in my chest as fear enveloped my being.

“do you like that Maya?” He question in a husky voice

Then I moved closer to the open bed room door to see because surely my ears were deceiving me.

…perhaps I shouldn’t have looked…the sight was not pretty. MY mate was currently on top of another half dressed woman and now they were kissing.

I could not deter my eyes from the sight. By now the 2 of them were completely naked and …I couldn’t see any more the tears clouded my vision!

It was when he moaned out her name did my body start to work again. I turned for the door and I ran…I ran like hell one block became 2, 2 blocks became 3 and so on and so on till my lungs burned…till my legs ached till …well here we are…waiting …

“Antonique?” he called in a small voice

She let him see… he saw it all from start to finish then again as if he couldn’t believe what I had seen.

I could tell he was pissed off, extremely pissed off too.

“Hiei don’t…don’t tell anyone ok.” Said Antonique

He blinked not understanding her meaning.

Before he could ask the question she answered

“I don’t want anyone else to know, I don’t want them to be mad at him like you are…” she paused to wipe away some stray tears

“I can tell that he really likes her, and so…and so” she started to sob by now

After a few seconds she regained her composer.

“So I won’t be in the way anymore.” Said Antonique

“What kind of foolishness are you talking about?!” exclaimed Hiei

Antonique was unfazed by this however.

“Promise me Hiei!” she said looking him directly in the eye

“I…can’t” he said

“Please don’t fight with him, he’s your friend…it would hurt so much more to know that I caused a fight between the 2 of you” she said after a while

To this Hiei’s eyes widened.

He was torn, he didn’t want to hurt her further but that damn fox…surely he deserved to die a thousand times if not more.

“I promise” he said after a while

“Thank you Hiei” she said softly while coming out of the tunnel

She was light headed and all that running had finally caught up with her body. She fainted, and it was a good thing that Hiei was there to catch her.

She woke up a few hours later in her bed.

She knew that she couldn’t face him with out crying, she couldn’t act like nothing had happened and because of this she had to leave. In the long run it would be best for them both she knew exactly what to do.

Antonique: um hey Kagoma?
Kagoma: yeah it’s me
Antonique: hi, how are you doing? I know it’s been a while since we last spoke but I was wondering if I could stay with you for a bit.
Kagoma: I… fine…but what’s going on?
Antonique: I can’t talk about it right now, but please I really need a place to stay for a while
Kagoma: of course you can stay!
Antonique: thanks you’re a life saver
Kagoma: when will you be here?
Antonique: well the next flight leaves at 4:30 am so I dunno about noon tomorrow
Kagoma: do you have enough money for the tickets? I can send you some if you need?(sniffs) are you crying?
Antonique: um… yeah, but that’s not important I need about 50 dollars more to make up for the ticket but how will it get to me on time?
Kagoma: don’t worry, it’ll get there just go pick it up and I’ll see you tomorrow. By the way I will be expecting an explanation
Antonique: I know and than you again…
Kagoma: it’s no problem and stop crying please it’s upsetting me.
Antonique: oh sorry… i
Kagoma: its ok I just don’t like to hear that my friends are in pain, and since you can’t tell me what’s wrong now it’ll keep me up wondering just what happened that’s all well I should go send you that money now ok.
Antonique: good night

It had been about 2 days since the dreadful day of betrayal, Hiei was true to his word, he told no one but he was still pissed off at Kurama.


Antonique avoided everyone even Yusuke who lived in the same house as her. Kurama had called for her several times, over and over, he left messages and she didn’t reply. She wasn’t strong enough not yet, she had to get away. She could face her brother either. He would defiantly find some way to squeeze the truth out of her. Not that she could lie to him anyhow. She wasn’t very good at lying so she kept it to a minimum it was all in her best interest.

It was almost time to leave she had packed all her things that could fit in the one little suitcase and her back pack at the time when everyone was asleep and waited for Hiei to come.

“I’m leaving now” said Antonique to Hiei as he stepped in the room from the window
“hn” he said

“I know that you don’t agree with what I’m doing but…it has to be done…not just for me but for him too, I don’t want to hold him back…I might have neglected to mention that…I’m also pregnant” said Antonique not looking at Hiei

If she had looked at him she would have seen the absolute shock written across his features.

“no, he doesn’t know. I was actually going to tell him then…I don’t know if I can now, I’m not strong enough to face him now Hiei, please don’t tell anyone where I’ve gone. Just tell them that I’m safe and that they shouldn’t worry. Tell them I went to…discover myself. That should be sufficient enough. I know they’ll be mad at me, I am after all being a coward but, I can’t stand…I can’t handle anymore pain right now…it hurt enough saying good bye to you” said Antonique with tear filled eyes

“ok” he said softly not wanting her to see how hard it was for him so say good bye to her too

“Thank you Hiei, and be safe ok” said Antonique as she attempted to pick up her suitcase

He stopped her however, and took it from her making his way to the door swiftly and carrying her downstairs to where the cab was to meet her.

She got to the airport just in time and bought a one-way ticket to New York.

She felt slightly better to be getting away. But then she recalled the fact that she’d have to explain to Kagoma what happened. She sighed.

The flight was long and it gave her a chance to get her thought together, to sort of work out a bit of a plan.

When the plane landed she was sound asleep the flight attendant actually had to wake her up.

She walked over to baggage claim to retrieve her belongings and then waited for Kagoma to get there.

It wasn’t too long that Kagoma spotted her with her suitcase looking off into the distance as if lost in thought.

The girl with black hair and red streaks sat down beside the said Antonique with a smirk.

“So are we going to sit here all day” she said casually Frightening Antonique out of her thoughts.

This caused Antonique to laugh a bit and Kagoma to smirk.

“Come on let go I’m not trying to have my car towed” said Kagoma as she took one of Antonique’s bags

Her sunglasses slipped down a bit to look at Antonique who didn’t move, showing her beautiful black eyes with crimson specks.

“Toni?” she asked looking somewhat worried

“Oh yeah, sorry!!! Let’s go” said Antonique as she wiped her eyes free of the tears that were threatening to spill forth.

‘She’s defiantly going to tell me just what’s going on!’ thought Kagoma with her eyes glazed over in determination

“Yeah the car is this way” she said going to the left exit

“Oh man, not a ticket!” exclaimed Kagoma

“No it’s just some stupid flyer” said Antonique while she waited for Kagoma to pop the trunk

“Good! cops are evil I tell you.” Mumbled Kagoma with her fist posed in the air as if ready to strike one of the evil ticket givers

In no time at all they were speeding down the highway to Kagoma’s apartment.

They didn’t talk about the issue at hand, instead they listened to music and reminisced about the old days.
You see Kagoma was not a normal human, she was much like Antonique in the fact that she felt alone. They were both quiet, they sat together in study hall everyday and with out really meaning to they formed a friendship.

Mostly everyone one stayed away from her thinking she was weird, stuck up or too violent for their taste but Antonique was the only one who decided to form her own opinion.
She sat next to the quiet, anti social girl and read books with her in silence.

They formed a unique bond and soon began to talk little by little, about books and life. They understood each other; though they were so different, they were still so alike.

They arrived about a half hour later.

It wasn’t much of an apartment; it only consisted of one bed room and the living room wasn’t very big either but it was clean and it was Kagoma’s.


She put her stuff down and sat on the couch. Kagoma followed after.

“ok, so tell me what’s up.” She said softly

Antonique sighed but started the story. When she was finished…

“Oh HELL NO!” exclaimed Kagoma
“We are going back there right now, that son of…erg, I’m going to kill him do some sort of ritual and kill that bastard again!” said Kagoma while pacing the living room

“Ka..” started Antonique

“when I get my hands on him…he’ll be sorry, no he’ll be more than sorry” she rambled as her eyes started to change in to a golden hue and red wings seemed to be appearing and disappearing .

The floor clacked a bit under the pressure of the immense spirit energy.

“Kagoma!” said Antonique hoarsely

She stopped and calmed herself before taking her seat.

“So, what’s his name?” asked Kagoma in a cold voice

“His name is Shuichii Minamono.” Said Antonique in a hush tone fighting back the lump in her throat

“And there’s more to the tale I’m afraid.” Said Antonique

‘it’s better if she knows now.’ She thought with a sigh

“I’m pregnant” she said looking at the floor

Kagoma was silent. That was bad…

“get ready, we are going out” said Kagoma before heading to her room in her full form which consisted of red wings and gold eyes with specks of silver, her skin grew a bit paler too. You see she possessed a family trait called the Angelic Seal; the color of her wings would change depending on mood. Now normally she knew how to keep in control of her emotions. But this wasn’t one of those times. She was peeved, but she knew that she couldn’t do anything much to help her friend so instead she’d have to call in a favor.

About 20 minutes later they were in Kagoma’s red Toyota Camry, cruising to…

“Where are we going?’ asked Antonique

“For the 5th time you’ll see when we get there so chill” said Kagoma with a sigh
“Why can’t you tell me now what this is all about?” said Antonique with a small frown

“be patient… I thought you were good at stuff like that” she said as she turned right.

“We’ll be there in a minute.” Said Kagoma with another sigh

Finally they got to this huge estate where Kagoma turned.

“Here?” said Antonique

“Yes here.” She said softly before turning to the Guard
(English)
“Kagoma Morris and company.” She stated
“Mr. Nitta…yes sir…a Miss Morris and company…um of course …I’ll send them up right away sir”
“he said that he’ll be in his study.” Said the guard with a smile
(Back to Japanese)
“Ok, so where meeting some rich guy… why?” said Antonique with a raised eyebrow

“Would you please stop with the interrogations? We will get there in a minute and when we do you’ll find out jeez.” Said Kagoma

“Fine!” said Antonique with a small huff.

“He’s not a crime lord from the mafia or something is he?” said Antonique as they got out of the car

This caused Kagoma to laugh a bit.

“No, he’s not, but I should get in touch with the crime lord to see what he can do about that creep as well.” Said Kagoma in a joking manner.

“You’re not serious are you?” asked Antonique with wide eyes

“Nah, I’m gonna kill him myself when the time come.” Said Kagoma with an evil smirk that caused Antonique to shiver slightly

“Hey Tai” said Kagoma
“Hm” he mumbled looking up from his book passively letting her know he heard her.

Antonique raised an eyebrow to this staring at the boy with lavender hair oddly.

“That’s just how he is when he’s reading Toni, come on lets go see Kuronue.” Said Kagoma while heading to the elevator

“Ah, it was nice meeting you Tai” said Antonique as she stepped in the elevator

“Yeah same to you Toni” he said not looking up from his book

“Actually my name is Antonique” she said just as the doors were closing

“That’s nice” he retorted even though she couldn’t hear him.

They got off the Elevator on the 3rd floor where the said Kuronue would be in his Study.

“Kuronue?” called Kagoma as she stepped in to the study

“Hello, Miss Morris, I wasn’t expecting to see you so soon.” Said Kuronue

(Kuronue looks the same in his human form save the wings and his eyes are red like his brother’s)

“Sup, Mr. Nitta. I know you weren’t expecting me but I figured that I’d get that favor now.” Said Kagoma as she took a seat in a chair on the opposite side of the desk


Kuronue gave a blank stare before looking over to Antonique.

“Please have a seat. My name is Kuronue Nitta and you are?” he asked politely while giving a small glare to Kagoma

“Oh, I’m Antonique Urameshi, pleased to meet you.” She said while politely extending her hand to Kuronue

They shook hands.

“Ok now down to business, kuro” said Kagoma
“You are a very weird person you know that?” said Kuronue tilting his head a bit

“Yeah I do, but back to the favor.” Said Kagoma

“This is my good friend, and we have a problem, well actually several balled in to one but lets go with the first one shall we.” Said Kagoma

“She just got here today from Japan. She wants to stay here, permanently I suspect, so I need you to work out some sort of citizenship” said Kagoma

“Ok, that should be easy enough how old are you?” he asked turning his head to Antonique who was staring at Kagoma with wide eyes

“Huh? oh I’m 14” answered Antonique in a monotone voice while glaring daggers at Kagoma who was ignoring her

“Yeah well you see there’s a bit more to that…” started Kagoma

“Kagoma?!” exclaimed Antonique

“What?” said Kagoma giving her a blank stare

“You need help and this is the only way to help you right now ok! So just trust me!” she said with a look that said ‘don’t argue with me.

Antonique knew she was defeated. So she sighed and remanded silent until things got a bit more personal.

“Kagoma?!” she called again

“It’s best everything is out in the open now.” Said Kagoma

“Don’t worry Kuronue is very trustworthy or I’d never have brought you here in the first place.” Said Kagoma

“ I assure you I will try my best to do as you have requested…I actually have an idea that may work.” Said Kuronue

Just then Tai walked in the room.

“I trust you meet my brother Tai?” said Kuronue to Antonique

“um, yeah something like that.” Said Antonique
“please excuse my rude behavior earlier it’s just that I was so indulged in my reading that …”he began

“That’s alright I do the same thing sometimes.” Said Antonique with a small smile.


“Thank you very much for understanding but I feel I am obliged to make it up to you some how” said Tai

“Not at all! It’s quiet alright” said Antonique


“I won’t take no for an answer you know” said Tai passively as he exited the room

Antonique merely sighed
To this Kuronue laughed and Kagoma smirked.

“It’s just how he is” said Kuronue
“yup that’s Tai for you.” Said Kagoma

“Very well then let us get down to business I’ll call you tomorrow to tell you what going on” said Kuronue as he looked around in his draw

“Ok let’s go Toni; we’re got things to do to.” Said Kagoma

“We do?” said Antonique

“Yeah, now come on already!” said Kagoma impatiently

“well it was very nice meeting you Kuronue…err Mr….” she started

“Kuronue is fine” interrupted Kuronue

“See ya kuro!” said Kagoma as she headed out the door but then stopped

“so how’s Hikita?” she stopped

“she’s just fine she’s taking a nap right now” answered Kuronue

“cool, let me go say hi to the little squirt before I go. I gotta be her favorite after all..” said Kagoma

“please don’t wake her up!” said Kuronue with a huge sweatdrop

“come one Antonique, you’ve got to see her she sooooooooooo cute!” exclaimed Kagoma completely out of character

“ok, ok I’m coming no need to drag me!” said Antonique with her own sweat drop

They arrived at a huge room that was decorated with little angels on the walls. And in the center of the room was a crib.

“she’s still sleeping…come look at the cuteness” said Kagoma motioning for Antonique to join her by the crib

“she’s beautiful” said Antonique in awe.

‘I wonder, will our baby be like this…so little so innocent…will it be a boy or a girl?’ who’s to say?’ thought Antonique with a smile while subconsciously rubbing her tummy.

“what do you mean she left!?!”” said Yusuke clearly pissed off

“she went to discover herself or so she said…” said Hiei blankly staring out the window.

“she went to what?!” said Yusuke thrashing about in an uproar.

Kurama’s face however was down cast in grief he didn’t know what to say.
He didn’t understand. Why’d she leave? No, that wasn’t it why didn’t she even say good bye…to him.

“When she returns you can ask her all of that stuff your self.” Said Hiei darkly while glaring daggers at Kurama. He made his exit from the house less he do something to break his promise with Antonique.

‘look at him acting so pathetic like he’s the victim’ thought Hiei scornfully

“I don’t understand.” Said Kurama after a while his eyes slowly losing it’s usual gleam
